1 October - National weather forecast presented by Steven Keates
Transcript
00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest forecast brought to you by the Met Office.
00:04And a fairly showery and breezy weekend on the cards for many parts of the UK,
00:09but there'll be some sunshine in between for most of us.
00:11Looking at the bigger picture then, we've got this deep area of low pressure close to Iceland.
00:15That's what drove the cold front across us yesterday.
00:18We've got this westerly airstream across the country.
00:20Plenty of ice bars on the chart, so it's quite breezy.
00:22And those brisk westerly winds will be feeding in plenty of showers across the UK today.
00:26Most frequent, I think, in parts of the north and the west, but nowhere completely immune from catching a shower.
00:31But the best is the sunshine further south and east, and here we'll see the highest temperatures,
00:3518 or 19 Celsius, and feeling quite warm in any sunshine.
00:38A little bit cooler further to the north where we've got more showers.
00:41So showers continuing this evening, and will continue throughout the night across parts of northern and western Scotland.
00:47Clearer swells elsewhere for the time, but then we turn our attention to the south-west,
00:51where an area of rain looks like it's going to be pushing in later in the night.
00:54On the chilly side, one or two sheltered spots in the east, but we've got the cloud further south-west relatively mild.
00:59And then on Sunday, we've got this area of rain across some southern parts of England,
01:03perhaps parts of south Wales as well.
01:05Some uncertainty as to its northwards progression, pulling away later.
01:08Elsewhere, sunshine and showers, and again, temperatures around 15 to 17 Celsius,
01:13perhaps a notch down on what we'll see through Saturday.
01:16The state's quite changeable into next week, and of course, the best place you can keep up to date
01:20is by checking the Met Office across social media.
01:22And I'll have an update for you again later.
01:24Bye for now.
