10 October - National weather forecast, presented by Aidan McGivern.
Transcript
00:00Hi there. The outbreaks of rain that many places woke up to this morning are
00:04clearing out of the way and actually brighter skies follow for much of
00:08England, Wales, southern and eastern Scotland. Sunny spells are expected
00:12during the rest of the day but for the north and west of Scotland, parts of
00:16Northern Ireland as well, thicker cloud, a keen breeze, particularly windy in the
00:20north of Scotland and frequent showers here coming in from the northwest. One or
00:25two showers possible for northwest England, perhaps north Wales as well but
00:28on the whole, the further south you are the sunnier the skies will be, the
00:32lighter the winds and it will feel pleasant enough, 16 or 17 Celsius after
00:36what was a fairly fresh start in many spots. Into the evening and the skies
00:42clearing across much of the UK, with light winds as well, temperatures will
00:47fall away, perhaps the odd mist patch forming but for the northwest of England,
00:51for Northern Ireland, northern and western Scotland, thicker cloud here, still a few
00:55showers but not as many as the daytime and still a breeze so that will keep
01:00temperatures up at 7 or 8 Celsius. It's really across central and southern parts
01:04of the UK, particularly where we've got some shelter, that's where the
01:07temperatures will fall to their lowest, 3-4 Celsius typically but low single
01:12figures, even zero degrees in some of the more sheltered spots. So a touch of air
01:16frost possible in one or two locations first thing Tuesday but otherwise a
01:21bright start for many of those temperatures then rising through the
01:23morning and it's going to be another sunny day in the south but further north
01:27we've got thicker cloud moving into central and western Scotland parts of
01:30Northern Ireland and outbreaks of rain mostly at this stage on the light side
01:35on and off, a freshening breeze coming up from the southwest this time 13 or 14
01:41Celsius in the north, a degree or so lower further south compared with Monday
01:45looking at 15 or 16 degrees but with light winds and that sunshine it's going
01:50to feel pleasant enough. Now later Tuesday this area of rain approaches
01:55from the west, the breeze picks up so turning increasingly cloudy for Scotland
02:00Northern Ireland and then eventually western parts of the UK as that rain
02:04moves in. This is a weather front which will cross the northern half of the UK
02:08on Tuesday night and then push through England and Wales during Wednesday. Sunny
02:13spells follow with a few showers but really on Thursday and Friday the theme
02:18will be much more unsettled weather as deepening lows arrive from the Atlantic
02:23and I'll have much more on that in the week ahead forecast which you'll be
02:27able to find on YouTube.
