00:00Hello and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.

00:04Today will be a fine day for many with some bright or sunny spells.

00:07It will also be generally dry with just a few scattered showers for the north and west.

00:12Though winds will be strong to start, we will see these ease this afternoon

00:16as low pressure moves eastwards and a ridge of high pressure crosses the UK today,

00:21bringing us some more settled weather before the next low pressure system affects the UK on Monday.

00:27But back to this afternoon, showers will feed in across northern and western parts

00:31with some longer outbreaks of rain for north-eastern parts of Scotland.

00:35Elsewhere there will be plenty of cloud around though some sunny spells also,

00:39particularly to the lee of high ground.

00:43Temperatures today will be a touch cooler than yesterday with a maximum of 13 in the south.

00:50This afternoon we'll see any outbreaks of rain and showers easing before we see clear

00:54spells developing and this could lead to some local mist and fog patches,

00:58particularly for central and southern parts of England.

01:01Cloud will build in from the west after midnight with a few outbreaks of rain

01:05as well for northern Ireland and western parts of Scotland.

01:09Under clear skies, especially in the east, it will be a cold one tonight

01:13with a grass frost likely and lows in towns and cities of 2 to 3,

01:17though in some rural locations temperatures could drop even lower.

01:21Tomorrow, cloud will increase from the west with some outbreaks of rain at times

01:24for northern and western parts and this could turn heavy over the high ground of Scotland.

01:30Elsewhere it will be a mostly dry but cloudy day

01:33and it will be milder than today with a high of 14.

01:39Looking ahead to next week, it will be changeable especially in the north and west

01:42with the driest and brightest weather in the south and east.

01:45Though after a chilly start to the week on Monday morning,

01:48it will be generally mild.
