24th September - National weather forecast
Transcript
00:00Hello again, a fine Friday for most of us. There will be some sunshine remaining this
00:05afternoon in the south and the east whilst it turns a little cloudier elsewhere. And
00:10it's going to be a windy day in the north, winds nearing gale force in the far north
00:15of Scotland and that wind bouncing over the hills of Scotland and northern England to
00:20bring a blustery afternoon here. Thickening cloud in the north and the west, a slice of
00:25cloud there for western Scotland and northern Ireland bringing some patchy light rain and
00:30drizzle, one or two spots as well for northwest England. You can see cloudier skies there
00:33for northern England and the north midlands, cloud thickening for west Wales and southwest
00:38England. But in this gap here, plenty of sunshine remaining for the likes of Birmingham, London,
00:43Norwich, Southampton, east Wales, the midlands seeing the highest temperatures with that
00:47sunshine, 24, possibly even 25 Celsius, believe it or not, and fairly warm to the east of
00:54the high ground as well in eastern Scotland and northeast England, high teens where we've
00:58got the thicker cloud. The thicker cloud tends to lower and creep east overnight with that
01:06cloud bringing some hill fog in the west and some patchy drizzle here and there. Where
01:11we get some clear spells, some fog patches will form say for the midlands, eastern parts
01:16of Wales and we keep clear spells there for eastern Scotland and northeast England. Otherwise
01:21a generally cloudy night to come, so of course a mild night to come, 12 to 16 Celsius this
01:27warm September weather continuing for the time being and in fact even warmer air coming
01:33our way for the weekend because we're in between a warm front and a cold front. This broad
01:37warm sector brings a slice of Atlantic humidity but also generally grey skies as we start
01:44off Saturday, a lot of low cloud out there, mist, hill fog, even some coastal fog in the
01:48southwest. Now after a wet start in the far north of Scotland and a windy one, the rain
01:53eases here and most places end up dry by the afternoon, just some patchy drizzle around
01:59northwestern hills. The cloud will also lift and so for many, Saturday afternoon is looking
02:04fine, but it is looking cloudier compared to recent days. The best of any sunshine appearing
02:10later on in the south and the east and again that's where the highest temperatures will
02:15be. Eastern England, somewhere like Lincolnshire could see another 25 Celsius, low 20s elsewhere,
02:21high teens in the northwest. In the northwest the wind picks up later in the day and we'll
02:27see a lot of cloud elsewhere overnight, again a gloomy start to Sunday, but Sunday is also
02:33looking predominantly dry, at least until this system moves in and this heavy rain arriving
02:40later Sunday will herald a change to cooler and more mixed weather for next week.
02:45Much more on social media, but for now that's all from me, bye bye.
