00:00Hello there. Welcome to your latest broadcast from the Met Office. Wednesday was quite a
00:04cloudy and chilly day across much of the UK. And the reason for that is high pressure has
00:10been in control of our weather and will continue to be in control, meaning slow moving weather
00:14systems over the course of the rest of the week. Though behind me we do see some weather
00:19thunders trying to get in. These may reach us as we move into the bank holiday weekend.
00:24So a sign of some rain to come, but not for all of us, generally across the north and
00:29the west of the UK. Through the rest of Wednesday evening, overnight into Thursday morning,
00:35the clouds should thin and break. We'll see some lengthy clear skies developing. So we'll
00:39see a frost returning across the rural parts of England and Wales, southern Scotland here.
00:44Towns and cities generally holding up above freezing 2 or 3 Celsius, but minus 2, minus
00:503 degrees is possible in the countryside. Thicker cloud though, holding up those temperatures
00:55across the far east and south east of England. Perhaps the cloud thick enough by the end
00:59of the night into Thursday morning, just for the odd spot of light rain or drizzle. But
01:03I think most places dry, with sunshine to greet us for many across the UK into Thursday
01:09morning. But as the day goes on, thicker cloud will bubble up and push its way westwards
01:14once more. So skies tending to turn greyer as the day goes on. But the best of the sunshine
01:19will be across parts of Wales, south west England, western fringes of Scotland and Northern
01:24Ireland seeing some sunny spells too, with most places dry. Under the cloud though, another
01:28fairly chilly day, 11, 12, 13 degrees, even cooler than this along some North Sea coasts.
01:34But in that sunshine, 16 or 17 degrees is possible. Then through Thursday evening, we'll
01:40see once more the clouds starting to ebb away. We'll see clearing skies once more overnight,
01:46which sees the return of those chilly temperatures. Temperatures dropping to single figures in
01:51towns and cities and in the countryside. We could just about see patchy frost once
01:56more across most prone locations, this time parts of Northern England, Northern Ireland
02:00as well, seeing temperatures of minus 2 or minus 3 degrees. So another chilly start to
02:06Friday morning, but plenty of sunshine across the whole of the UK. But again, eastern areas
02:11of the UK holding on to some thicker cloud. But most places should be dry. And then through
02:16the day on Friday, we'll see the cloud start to push its way westwards again, expanding.
02:21But there is a bit of uncertainty of how far westwards this will go. So the best of
02:25the sunshine will be across parts of Wales, South West England, Northern Ireland as well,
02:30and Western Scotland, seeing a dry day with sunny spells, just one or two showers across
02:34the highlands. And temperature wise, well, another good day in that sunshine, just starting
02:39to feel a bit warmer, 14, 15, 16 degrees, possibly locally 17, but still chilly along
02:46some eastern coast here, 12 or 13 at the very best. So over the next few days, we should
02:52see temperatures at night and by day starting to rise. But if you'd like more information
02:56on this, you can visit us on our social media websites. I'll see you again soon.
