10 July - National weather forecast presented by Dan Stroud.
Transcript
00:00Hello. Saturday was a warm day across the UK, with temperatures reaching highs of 27.4 degrees.
00:07So a warm day, and if anything, a warmer day is in prospect during the course of Sunday,
00:11with that mercury edging a little bit higher across a good portion of the UK.
00:16Now the current spell of dry and fine weather has been brought about by an area of high pressure,
00:21and that is acting like a giant force field, helping to keep the bulk of the cloud and rain at bay.
00:27Although, around the edges of that high pressure cell, we are seeing a little bit more in the way of cloud,
00:31and that cloud is making its presence felt across parts of northern Scotland,
00:35where that cloud will also be thick enough to actually offer some outbreaks of rain and drizzle overnight tonight.
00:40Further south, we are seeing largely clear skies across England and Wales,
00:44and overnight temperatures remaining firmly in double figures,
00:48so generally a warm and, for some, an uncomfortable night to come,
00:52although some rural spots may see the temperatures just dip into high single figures.
00:56So it's a dry and fine start to Sunday morning.
01:00We may see a few isolated mist and fog patches at first,
01:04but those quickly lifting and clearing during the course of the morning,
01:07leaving pretty much wall-to-wall sunshine right the way across the country.
01:12And those clear blue skies are going to have a bit of an impact on temperatures,
01:16when we're looking at temperatures rising a bit higher than we actually saw during the course of Saturday,
01:21with highs of 27 or 28 or 29 across parts of London and the south-east,
01:27even across parts of Scotland, the mercury rising into the mid-20s, so warm day even here.
01:33And that dry and warm weather continues into Sunday evening,
01:37with largely clear skies overnight.
01:40Still seeing a little bit more in the way of cloud around the edge of that high pressure cell,
01:44and winds largely light right the way across the country.
01:48And high pressure continues to dominate the weather as we move into the new week,
01:53although a slight change as a foot as slightly fresher conditions try and move in from the north and west later.
02:00Although we are likely to see temperatures rising into the low 30s across the south during the course of Monday and Tuesday.
02:07Thank you for listening and please check our social media channels for the latest updates.
02:12Bye for now.
