00:00And of course Donnie we're entering the final month and change of a major league baseball season about 35 to 37 games left for all
00:08Clubs around MLB with October very much in the sights of teams contending for a playoff position
00:15We are excited, but how excited can we get for week zero with the boys in studio?
00:20That'd be fun to watch but answer me this question here
00:23What are we doing in Dublin like what are we at like at least when Notre Dame goes to Dublin?
00:29Sort of makes a little bit of sense there because their nickname is the fighting Irish even though
00:34I don't know why it's there the fighting Irish this points for another day another time
00:37But why Florida State and Georgia Tech in Ireland like why what are we doing there? I?
00:44Don't know if I have a great reason for you week zero has a fascinating history in
00:50College football as Donnie can tell you the kickoff classic of the 80s and the 90s was a huge deal in CFP
00:57Huge in terms of generating TV revenue oftentimes played between two top 25 programs oftentimes
01:04both teams with national championship
01:07Aspirations ranked inside the top ten. So it was a huge TV revenue driver in college football
01:14That's not really the case now with these mega
01:17Contracts that we see that has caused changes to the landscape around all of CFB and in the polling era
01:24And when magazine writers decided who a national champion was in college football
01:29It wasn't a huge detriment
01:31But then we had the BCS era and only a 14 college football playoff now with 12 teams
01:36Could it make its way back that remains to be seen but week zero slates have been better
01:43Even in recent times than the one we have in
01:462024 only four games that feature an FPS
01:50Program but at least it will start in Dublin the Irish opener
01:54The only thing you ask is to fan bases that can get after it, Florida State
01:59I don't have any doubt
02:00But I think it's a long trip from FSU and Tallahassee and why would you want to leave Florida at the end of August for?
02:06Dublin maybe it's actually like a little bit cooler or not as humid
02:10You just want to see what we saw two years ago, Nebraska and Northwestern the traveling fan base of the Cornhuskers
02:17Pretty much emptying out the stadium because the machine stopped working at the concession stands and thus beer was free
02:24What a party it was over in Ireland
02:27Yeah, I think it was it was at the honor code as well
02:29Like hey, look it get as many beers as you want tally them up come back later when the machines are working again
02:34And we'll run them through so I do like the hospitality saying you know
02:37What I'm not gonna stop the beer flow because you can't pay
02:39Honor system here and they probably even made even more money back because people like know what how many beers that I have we like
02:44Exaggerate over like I have like nine or ten when you only have like four or five and you probably end up paying the nine
02:49Or ten with a nice hefty tip on the back end. So it's nice that football season is here. I just wish like
02:55Take a look at the NBA or the NFL
02:57They know how to go out in style in the first couple days of the season an opening night
03:01I just wish we get that and you're right about it
03:03Maybe in the future when things start to open up the cave
03:05We can't afford a loss in game number one and if we win it boy what a head that tailwind
03:09We'll get out of that, but I just would like to see it a little bit better
03:12But it's still fun that football on the TV, even though it is in Dublin with those two states
03:16But by the way, it's like Florida States like you know what we were so bad to end the season last year
03:21We're embarrassed to play in the state of Florida here down in the ACC
03:24We got to get out of country just to try to reset the mojo like maybe that's in you know
03:28What didn't think about that? Maybe that is the plan here. What are we getting out of Florida State?
03:31They don't want to stink it up once again in the state of Florida or on the homeland here
03:36What is Mark Zinno calling in to anger me about for to stay at the end of last year as well in just a moment?
03:42A ball game is not indicative of a team's regular season and championship
03:49Success, especially in this era was Florida State's third-string backups bad against, Georgia in the Orange Bowl
03:57Yes
03:57They were for the state eleven and a half point favorite against a pretty feisty
04:03Georgia Tech team under Brett key to start off the year. We'll talk about week zero a little bit later on
04:09Let's go DRS though to the playoff race around major league baseball wild-card watch in the National League again
04:16San Diego and Arizona
04:19Finally cooling off this weekend the D backs were 20 and 5 since the all-star break and during the weekend
04:25They had won six straight. They were swept in Tampa
04:28The Padres probably thought they were going to continue their winning ways visiting the Rockies this weekend
04:33The Rocks take the rubber match yesterday though and win the weekend set against San Diego still
04:39Despite these two teams cooling down
04:41They're atop the wild-card standing 70 and 55 for San Diego, Arizona a game back 69 and 56
04:49What is really intriguing here?
04:50Is that third and final spot between two divisional mates a two-game lead for Atlanta over the New York Mets?
04:57In the interesting part about the wild-card race in the National League is this Padres Diamondbacks embrace in that order
05:03Even though the Mets only two games back in the Giants four games back. It just feels like to me Ben
05:07We are seeing the three playoff teams in the Padres Diamondbacks and Braves
05:11Yeah, two games back could the Mets overtake the Braves?
05:14Of course they can at this point
05:15But it just feels like the Mets just might not be good enough to jump over the Atlanta Braves here
05:21Even though the Braves flailing around with injuries here
05:23They do come up with some solid performances from time to time which includes
05:26Winning their past two games and how hot can the Padres and the Diamondbacks be we talked about this so many times last week
05:32It's great that you're surging up the leaderboard and in that wild-card hunt
05:36Maybe of the late the late chance here to take over the Dodgers
05:39But we know baseball works you go 20 and 5 over the next what 20 games you might go 10 and 10 and you might go
05:448 and 12 they're cooling off because that's just the way it plays out Major League Baseball with the ebbs and flows
05:49But again, it just feels like to me Padres Diamondbacks and Braves
05:52I think those three teams do make it into the playoffs leaving the Mets and the Giants just a little bit short here. I
05:58Mean you see the numbers there as well
06:00Atlanta probably has some of the postseason pedigree baked into that number if it was a different team
06:06Struggling in the second half despite Atlanta winning its weekend set this weekend as well
06:12It might not be minus 480 close to a 5 to 1 price with a minus in front only having a two-game
06:18Lead for that third and final National League wild-card spot. The Mets had an opportunity to sweep the Marlins yesterday
06:26Miami able to scratch one across but Donnie there was a time right around the all-star break on either end
06:33Pittsburgh playing well, st. Louis playing well, San Francisco starting to surge in the second half
06:38There were six seven teams in the running for those three nationally wild-card spots
06:44It's really just for San Francisco not out of it
06:47But they're just an even 500 not even a winning record at this moment
06:51And again, Atlanta minus 480 to earn that playoff spot
06:56I do wonder Donnie how your assessment and really anybody's but I'll ask you the question around Major League Baseball
07:03Changes with no teams pulling away here in the home stretch, right?
07:08We talked about it in our most recent segment together
07:11Is anybody going to get to a hundred victories in the regular season this year?
07:15I still think it's clear to say there are a top tier around MLB
07:20But if everybody is flirting around those same numbers
07:2590 95 wins entering October. Does it change your overall playoff assessment as we look at the National League pendants?
07:32No, not necessarily and also it might actually help your playoff assessment because so many times we're taking a look at the unfair advantage
07:39that apparently you get from winning a division because you end up getting cooled off waiting for your opponent if we don't have that Bennett
07:45Everybody is playing right up to the final two three games of the season as opposed to taking off the final two weeks
07:51You keep that edge strong here. You keep the lights turned on and you're focused towards winning a championship. You're already in playoff mode
07:57so I actually think we might get a better version of the playoffs this year particularly from the teams winning the division because if you're
08:03Not icing it here. You're still playing quality baseball down the stretch and meaningful baseball on a day-to-day basis
08:09Yeah, I would agree with that. There are those National League pennant odds that we call for plus
08:14165 out of LA the Phil's still the second best number less than a dollar of distinction at plus
08:21240 the Padres have the fourth best price Atlanta's always been in third
08:25The Brewers despite maybe being the number one seed when all is said and done
08:29Still the fifth best number more around that MLB playoff outlook next
08:34so the National League wild-card race really comes down to one spot at least as of this moment between the Braves and
08:41The Mets 37 games but less than 40 for all teams remaining around Major League Baseball
08:48We looked at the National League wild-card chase
08:50We do the same in the AL somebody is going to win the American League East
08:55Between the Yankees and the O's currently both teams tied atop the American League American League East division standings
09:02both at 73 and
09:0452 Baltimore has the slight edge
09:06They have won six of ten games against their divisional foes
09:10The two teams will play each other in their second to last regular season
09:14Series the reason I say that the O's get the credit for being the top team in the American League East right now
09:20Despite having the same record as New York the Yanks well in front though in the American League wild-card
09:26Chase they have a two and a half game advantage over
09:29Minnesota the Twins win three or four this weekend over the Rangers firmly in that second spot even testing Cleveland
09:36Just two games back at the top spot in the American League Central the Royals have won four straight
09:41They swept Cincinnati this weekend now a three and a half game lead DRS for Kansas City for that third and final
09:49American League wild-card spot at the break. It was the Red Sox in that pole position
09:54Yeah, by the way, shout out the AL Central playing great baseball here now granted the Guardians kind of interesting last two weeks overall
10:00But you take a look at the Twins who I think have a lot of talent on that team and a solid pitching staff
10:05And then the Kansas City Royals playing their best baseball right now
10:07Why because they won four games in a row to sort of solidify that mark now
10:11It is interesting to see the Boston Red Sox. I'm still high on that team. I like the roster
10:15It's a decent pitching staff here and an average bullpen at best
10:18But if you're looking at who's going to make the playoffs, I just told you in the National League
10:22I don't think they're up for grabs, even though the Atlanta Braves only a two-game lead over the New York Mets
10:27But if you're focused here on the American League wild-card situation, it sort of feels the same right now
10:31And I don't just what well-done either in the lead by at least three and a half games
10:34But the Twins I think are immensely talented
10:37I think the Kansas City Royals playing great
10:38The only thing you can say and I guess from past and prior experiences
10:43How good are the Kansas City Royals actually at this point now?
10:46We're not talking about they only played a month of baseball been in April and May it's like oh sooner or later
10:50They'll fall through, you know
10:52You're through three quarters of the season and they're playing good baseball now six and four in the last ten
10:56But again, as you pointed out four games on a win streak three and a half games is a lot to jump
11:01even with over a month left to play because you're anticipated Boston would have to basically be winning six to seven of every ten games
11:08Here while the Royals sort of flounder a little bit. I like what I'm seeing here
11:12So the easy cop-out to say yes
11:13Yeah, those top three teams and the Yankees are gonna be in no matter what same thing with the Orioles
11:17So the real focus is the Twins and the Royals and I think they're both immensely talented teams
11:21And what are we getting from the Red Sox what we saw to begin the year or what we saw in the middle of the year?
11:26Are they sort of falling back at this point?
11:27But if you're just saying well the Royals I don't trust because they're usually not a good baseball team
11:32It's not a great wording of it because they've played good for the majority of the season
11:36I could see it being locked in Yanks Twins Royals. That's your wild cards
11:39And you see it there in the odds, right?
11:41Kansas City three and a half game lead in the American League wild-card chase minus 210 greater than a $2 favorite to earn that
11:49Postseason spot however compared to the National League Atlanta only a two-game lead over, New York
11:55But some of that built-in postseason pedigree with the Braves
11:58Minus 480 to earn a playoff berth if you are Boston
12:04You are happy to see that the Royals have the second most difficult schedule remaining in Major League Baseball
12:10And maybe you're listening to us right now
12:12And you're like guys three games set three and a half game lead in the American League wild-card spot
12:18If the Royals get swept in the Red Sox sweep
12:20We're talking about a half game
12:22We can this could change by the time we talk next week and you are correct with how random and streaky baseball can be
12:28but three and a half games even in
12:3135 to 40 games remaining in this regular season a Major League Baseball is a
12:36Substantial margin to make up to come from behind and overtake a team
12:41you would really have to see the Royals flounder and the Red Sox play some supremely winning baseball in this final 38 game stretch or
12:50So, so now let's take what we are seeing in the American League wild-card chase and put it to the American League pennant prices
12:57The Yankees still remain the favorites around the AL less than a dollar separates, New York and Baltimore plus 320
13:04Houston though Donnie for game lead now in the American League West the Astros
13:10Officially the fork has been broken for multiple months now and has been thrown in the garbage
13:16The Astros who have played in the last seven American League championship series
13:21Certainly have a good number to get back there
13:25the Astros a four-game lead in the AL West as Seattle is
13:30floundering the Mariners lost their weekend set to Pittsburgh can't happen at this time of year with how much the Buccos have struggled since the
13:36all-star break and really here since August began
13:40Houston starting to run away with the American League West and thus a very favorable postseason position
13:46Yeah, it's kind of crazy nine and one in their last ten games now four game lead and if you want to say it's not
13:53insurmountable with about a month left to go just check out the Mariners typically every day at the plate one or two runs here not
13:59Going to get the job done and Houston does have that pedigree
14:01They have guys that have stepped up in the biggest moments here
14:04But still I look at that team is not all that impressive
14:07Somebody has to win the American League West and if you do you do get home field advantage at least in round number one
14:13Which is going to be indicative of helping you get to round number two
14:16But I'm still looking at the Orioles and the Yankees being the clear cream of the crop
14:21Did you like the Yankees performance yesterday? Not necessarily now in a tie for the Orioles
14:25But I've said this many times and even on this show today
14:27I do like the fact that the Orioles and the Yankees gonna be batting all the way through up to the last week
14:32So nobody's gonna take this foot off the gas pedal set up the rotations
14:36Give some players a day off and expect them to flip on that switch
14:39Once the playoffs begin the Guardians solid team
14:41We know that they got 72 wins fun teams in the Twins and Royals
14:45I get it the Astros with the playoff pedigree
14:47But still that AL East is the key to who's going to win the pennant whoever wins the AL East gets that home field advantage
14:54That's gonna be key here. So I'm still sticking with the New York Yankees there. I think there's a pedigree
14:59It's Orioles Yankees, and it's everybody else
15:02so when you look at the National League odds to be that number one seed the Dodgers remain a
15:07Favorite at this moment at plus 105 the Phillies only backed by five cents
15:11The Brewers are also there only a game separates all three of those teams the Philz the Dodgers and the brew crew
15:18But Milwaukee plus 950 to earn that number one seed in the American League
15:22The Yanks a slight favorite at minus 105 Baltimore plus 170 large drop-off to the Guardians who are backed by a half game
15:29Right now behind both, New York and Baltimore at plus
15:34550 also Houston 11 games above 500 their best winning percentage so far this season
15:40They've won 10 of their last
15:4311 games Oh
15:45The Chicago White Sox don't have a playoff price or a pennant price listed anymore
15:50They were eliminated from postseason contention over the weekend more on the early line next live right here on the early line
15:57Let's start off a new week with some baseball breakdowns here on sports screen from the mind of one
16:03Donnie right side two wild-card teams as of this time in their respective leagues
16:09San Diego in the top spot and the National League wild-card standings, Minnesota in the second spot
16:15But firmly in two in terms of the American League wild-card standings in both teams
16:20Have an outside chance of maybe contending for a divisional crown the Padres three games back to the Dodgers and the National League
16:27West the twins make it up some ground on the Guardians in the American League Central only two game
16:33Difference game number one of their midweek set tonight out in Southern, California
16:37San Diego a minus
16:39156 home money line favorite total of seven
16:42Zebby Matthews made his MLB debut last week looked pretty solid for the young rook and if you're wondering why San Diego
16:49Might be a dollar and a half favorite at home against a good twins team on the other side
16:54Because Michael King has been sensational here this summer for the Padres there were minus
17:00156 home money line favorite and they should be the favorite and they should be about a dollar and a half
17:04That's a pro that's priced appropriately here as every Matthews. The one good thing is here. He is a young rookie
17:09They have high expectations for in the Padres haven't seen him live just yet
17:12They'll get a picture of him tonight struggled a little bit with left-handed batters last go-around
17:16But was very good against right-handed batters
17:17You'll get some of that the one thing that you do like about the Padres over the past month in Major League Baseball that lineup
17:22One through nine has done extremely well against right-handed pitching outside of Jake Cronenworth
17:27Everybody's weighted on base percentage is elevated that should help you out
17:31But if we are just taking a look at the pitching matchup itself Michael King last 30 days of Major League Baseball
17:36Which included 93 batters? He's faced in
17:39057 ISO and a weighted on base percentage of 223 if you give it to lefties
17:44He's faced 62 left-handed batters a zero ISO power number and you know me I like that Minnesota Twins lineup
17:51But tonight the better pitcher and the better lineup both reside here with San Diego a little bit of home cooking for them
17:57I think they handled their business. I'd be willing to pay about that dollar and a half price for them to do so
18:02Again, when you look at San Diego same story for the Diamondbacks as well
18:07Both teams were scorching red-hot since the all-star break both taking a small step back this weekend
18:14But still both teams very comfortable in where they stand from a postseason
18:19Contention standpoint the Padres lost yesterday in the Mile High City to the Rockies
18:23Colorado taking the rubber match and the weekend set the Padres entered
18:28Before this weekend got started having won at least 10 of their last 11 games
18:35So let's go around Major League Baseball elsewhere on this Monday
18:38And now we focus on Arizona the Diamondbacks on the road in
18:43Miami the D-back swept this weekend elsewhere in Florida by the Rays hoping to turn things around a
18:49$2.00 favorite against the fish will Arizona bounce back. I
18:53Think they do and also just taking a look at some of these updated pitching matchups hollers on the man
18:57I believe he came over from the Oakland Athletics and if I remember correctly
19:00He was a terrible pitcher with Oakland and also you have to point down the Marlins schedule. I really cared about wins here
19:06They don't want to burn some of their best prospects. So let me just take a look at some of this old
19:10Action I look 2024 for Miami's only been in triple-a, but it's got an ERA of
19:162.88 which isn't bad for Cleveland's triple-a team. He actually had a
19:217.48 ERA in triple-a this year to the 12 starts
19:24So if you're looking to get back on track for the Arizona Diamondbacks faults the better pitcher than Allah
19:29So this should be a dominating performance by Arizona. Yeah late. I'll do a little bit more digging later in but just going back
19:34I do remember him from Oakland nine career games
19:38He was in 19 and two-thirds innings pitch Ben a 10 ERA and an x-fifth number of six point nine
19:44Four should be big things here for the Diamondbacks today
19:48You saw Cato Marte yesterday
19:50Not only the Rays walking it off in extra innings to complete the weekend sweep over, Arizona
19:56He re-aggravated an ankle injury did not play for three games DH on Saturday pinch hit yesterday and had to leave
20:05Early so you're trying to make sure everybody is healthy for the D backs
20:09They have a two-and-a-half game lead over Atlanta for the second of those three National League wild-card spots
20:15Let's continue going around the Monday card in Major League Baseball
20:19Speaking of the wild-card chase the Mets at home
20:23Against the O's New York a minus 142 favorite total of eight and a half
20:28What do you like for the opener at Citi Field?
20:30Kind of interesting here
20:31You see the New York
20:33Metropolitans as a favorite here and I tend to agree with it David Peterson's been actually a solid pitcher this season and also particular the
20:39Past 30 days with 117 batters faced an ISO against 101 and a weighted on base percentage of 296
20:45But the pressure is gonna come here for Trevor Rogers who is not a great pitcher here
20:49Struggling with lefty and righty batters and also keep in mind a low strikeout guy
20:53If you're looking for RBI props on your list tonight Lindor
20:56Vientos and Alonzo should be those three guys for the New York Mets today
21:01Yeah, I would look there as well the Mets need it
21:04They did win their weekend set had an opportunity to sweep the Marlins
21:08Atlanta winning its final two games of its weekend series maintains that two-game lead the prop perspective top deck on a Monday
21:16Live right here on this Monday on the early line on SportsGrid if it is a Monday
21:22It's time for the prop perspective with the Jack of all trades the home run prop King
21:27That is Tom Vecchio here on this Monday on TEL. We'll talk season-long
21:32perspectives and props around the National Football League
21:36We'll get you set for this Monday MLB card as well Vecchio. We appreciate the time. Thanks for being here on SportsGrid
21:44Yeah, thanks for having me super busy time with NFL preseason in full swing dog days of MLB here
21:51I'm ready to roll
21:53So let's get it going that jack-of-all-trades by looking at what we have seen
21:58preseason week number two not
22:00Necessarily what the preseason will mean for any future bets you have or even week-to-week perspectives around the NFL
22:07But let's start with the rookie quarterbacks because we have seen some promise and some flashes
22:12Bo Nix great once again last night for Denver at home against Green Bay six
22:17Offensive possessions with Knicks under center for the Broncos this preseason all six drives resulting in points
22:24Caleb Williams has looked solid for Chicago Jaden Daniels
22:28impressive for the Washington commanders Drake may a couple of offensive drives for New England on
22:35Thursday Vecchio, although we have these guys that we project out there as the rookie starting quarterbacks
22:41We believe that Caleb is going to start week number one Jaden week number one and Bo Nix probably week number one as well
22:48Now, how do you base your expectations for these rookie QB's without a sample size at this level?
22:56Yeah, that's certainly tough to do
22:58You know a lot of what I look at it also comes down to the play calling where I think some of these quarterbacks look
23:03Good, but I'm not overly impressed by any of them, you know Daniels and Knicks look good
23:08But ultimately when we're looking at the stats as that screen just showed, you know, eight of nine for Bo Nix for 80 yards
23:14You know 15 of 21 for 125, you know, Daniels going 10 of 12 for 78 yards
23:19Like I know they want to get them in the rhythm of things
23:21But like they need to start opening up the offense like I'll truly have more interest in these quarterbacks
23:26Once they start pushing the ball downfield, you know
23:28Going under 10 yards, you know per completion doesn't impress me and that needs to increase for these quarterbacks to really be successful
23:35So I'm moderately impressed with what I've seen so far
23:38but until we actually see them push the ball and have like
23:41unscripted drives because these are super scripted drives of what they've been doing in preseason until
23:45Things don't go according to plan and the quarterbacks have to then react to that
23:48Then we'll have a real judge on how good they're gonna be
23:52And also these young quarterbacks going up against a first-rate defense
23:55That's trying to scheme against them should be interesting to watch outside the quarterback realm Marvin Harrison jr
24:00You also have Malik neighbors and Xavier worthy who might be able to show up on that radar for being the NFL
24:06Rookies of the year is there if we're looking at that rookie of the year market outside of the quarterbacks themselves
24:11Do you have a guy that possibly could win it? That's a non quarterback Tom that you might be looking at here
24:16It might be worthy. You know, I think Malik neighbors is an awesome talent. I just don't trust the Giants offense in any capacity
24:24Marvin Harrison if you can get that if that number drops to like eight or nine to one after the first maybe week or two
24:29This season, you know sign me up for that. But say you're worthy at 19 to 1. We know that Brown isn't healthy right now
24:35I don't expect rice to be suspended. At least that's what the reports are suggesting because the investigation isn't included
24:40But you know worthy in 19 to 1, you know
24:43You're essentially getting some indirect exposure to Mahoney's at Mahoney's having a great year and we're never getting Mahoney's that like anything for 19 to 1
24:49He's always gonna be 6 7 to 1 to lead the league in yards. Leave the league, you know MVP, whatever
24:54So give me a wide receiver for rookie of the year, which we've seen a couple times over the past few years with Garrett Wilson
25:00a couple years ago
25:02Xavier worthy looked great on Saturday for KC 62 receiving yards a touchdown ran at once for 11 yards as
25:10Well, the speedster out of Texas should thrive in this Chiefs offense with Patrick Mahomes
25:17Delivering him the football and at Tom's point about quarterbacks. Yes. Caleb Williams is the favorite
25:21Yes
25:22CJ Stroud ran away with the award by week 8 last year to win offensive rookie of the year
25:28But in the last decade the last 10 winners of the offensive rookie of the year award only four have played the quarterback position
25:35It is not necessarily just a quarterback award like we see with many in the sport of football
25:41But each and every week for the past few Mondays
25:44Tom Vecchio has been here living up to the jack-of-all-trades
25:48Nomer to give you not only some MLB plays on the daily basis
25:52But of course a look at some season-long yardage props that he likes in the National Football League today
25:59It's a tight end in Western, New York Vecchio. What's the play and what do you like?
26:04Yeah, that's going to Dalton Kincaid for the Buffalo Bills over
26:09750 and a half
26:10Receiving yards and the Bills offense this year is a look gonna look a little bit different than what we've seen in the past few years
26:15Step Diggs is gone. Gate Diggs is gone
26:18Looking back to last year Kincaid had the second most target second most receptions and the third most yards
26:22And yeah, they drafted Ken Coleman and I think he's a great talent, right?
26:25I'm super high on him, but he's still a rookie
26:27You know clear Khalil Shakir is good Curtis Samuel
26:30MVS like these are all okay options and I think can be maybe viable on a potentially week-to-week basis specifically Khalil Shakir
26:36But this is the time for Kincaid to step up and be a true number one target for Josh Allen it
26:41Realistically how he's gonna throw for 4,000 yards again. So it's not as if I'm low on
26:47Coleman having a bad year things gonna have a fine year
26:49But Kincaid is really in a spot to be that consistent option weekend and week out for Josh Allen
26:54So give me over 750 yards. I think is me one the top fancy tight ends in the league as well
26:59Yeah, let's have some fun there Josh Allen still looking to have a big year as the favorites out there in the AFC
27:05One of those teams possibly I could surprise say maybe it's the Buffalo Bills this season
27:08Let's get over to Major League Baseball out on the west coast 940 start Eastern tonight
27:12That's Minnesota and San Diego Zebby Matthews his second start in Major League Baseball going up against Michael King
27:18Who's been nothing shrewd of sensational over the past month a favorite here for San Diego at a minus
27:23156 price and a total dropping from seven and a half to seven now and he looks today for the twins and the San Diego
27:30Padres
27:31Yeah, let's go to Luisa rise for two plus total bases at plus 100
27:35Like you said, this is the second career start for Matthews. We got to look back at what he has done this season
27:40He was in high a earlier this season then double a then triple a they can strikeout hitters, but an insanely small sample size
27:47So I'll take literally one of the best hitters in the league arise for two plus total bases
27:51This is not a power thing. This is simply him getting on base, right?
27:54He has a 2.6 percent strikeout rate versus righties, which is insanely low. He's got a 112 WRC plus
27:59He's got 326 bad
28:01but so give me the lefty righty split for rise get on base versus a
28:05Pitcher who was in high a earlier this season and has five innings pitch at the major league level
28:10Yeah, I like that. Look, of course Vecchio there
28:13San Diego had won 10 of their last 11 games before their weekend set against the Rockies
28:18They lost the weekend to Colorado hoping to bounce back at home
28:22The Diamondbacks had also won 10 of their last 11 including six in a row and through their weekend in Florida
28:28Against the Rays Tampa pulled off the sweep at the crop, Arizona looking for better results
28:34Now in Miami against the Marlins the D backs a hefty favorite. What's the play between the fish and the snakes?
28:41For this one. I think Brandon
28:44Who's gonna be who's gonna be on the mound for?
28:47Arizona in Miami. I didn't see them. Brandon Fodd is gonna be on the mound for Arizona. I didn't see it. Yeah
28:51Yeah, I didn't see a listed pitcher for Miami. So
28:54Ultimately that's gonna come down. So so I would go to Lourdes Correale for prop or Corbin Carroll
28:59They need to write the ship. This is a bad stretch of games that they've had
29:02They were super hot coming out of the all-star break
29:04So depending on who the picture is for Miami
29:06Give me a Lotus Correale total base prop Corbin Carroll prop
29:09Maybe a strikeout prop for Brandon fought and we'll go from there
29:12But you need to dig into some of the specifics once the pitchers actually get listed as official
29:17710 p.m. Tonight heading up to Citi Field in Queens. That's gonna be the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Mets
29:23It's Rogers versus Peterson the battle of lefties here favor for the Mets. How about this overnight?
29:27134 as a price now, it's up to minus
29:29142 and eight and a half total Baltimore and New York for you Tom. What do you got?
29:35Peterson's been good, but it's got to be under four and a half strikeouts at plus 128
29:39He has an 18.2 percent strikeout rate this season. The league average is 22.4
29:42His walk rate is at 11% and the league average is 8.2. He is a below-average
29:47Pitcher that is just a fact Baltimore. They have a ton of power
29:50They're slightly worse than the league average at 22.3 percent strikeout rate versus lefties. That's 13th in the league
29:55So I'm not expecting like a massive things from from Peter swing when we know Baltimore is just a powerful lineup overall
30:01And he's not a big strikeout pitcher. That's just a fact
30:04It is really interesting to just see the Mets as that strong of a favorite at home against one of the two best teams
30:11In at the American League, New York a tough draw to start off this week
30:15But the Mets need to win games to keep pace with Atlanta and the National League wild card chase
30:21Thank you. As always we appreciate the time. Thank you for being here on this Monday
30:26Of course. Thanks for having me
30:28plenty more MLB breakdowns and best bets up next with Donnie and myself here on the early line a
30:35Ten game slate on this Monday around Major League Baseball and now here we are less than 40 games for every team
30:43Around the sport if you're gonna make that final push to the postseason
30:46It has to start now and if you're playing the Chicago White Sox
30:50You have to win each and every night the Giants at home by the bay today a minus
30:55225 favorite against the White Sox total of seven and a half San Francisco not out of it DRS
31:02Chicago has been eliminated. We'll talk about that in just a moment
31:06But even from the theoretical perspective of truly being in the hunt the Giants and even
31:11563 and 63 four games back of Atlanta for the third and final
31:16Nationally wildcard spot added motivation tonight to take care of business against baseball's worst team
31:22Yeah, let's forget about the Giants and how they would do it to play it against Jonathan Cannon
31:26It's not a great pitcher here, right?
31:27Okay, but let's focus more about that Chicago White Sox lineup that we're going to get Kyle Harrison's a left-handed pitcher will be on the
31:33Mount tonight for the San Francisco Giants his last 83 batters that he's faced
31:37He's got a 257 ISO against which means right-handed batters are absolutely clubbing him to the tune of an ISO power number of
31:45317 and a weighted on base percentage of 378 boy sign me up here on the Chicago White Sox
31:51Not so fast people remove Andrew Benintendi who is a left-handed batter with a 211 ISO and a weighted on base percentage of
31:58318 let's just take a look at the last month the Chicago White Sox going up against left-handed pitching and we use ISO power numbers
32:05Say Donnie what is isolated power actually removes the single and grade you on doubles triples and home runs
32:11Effectively, which team is cracking the whip against some of these pitchers?
32:14Well zero typically is a bad number throughout any sport here
32:18And again, if we remove Ben attendee
32:20Let's go over the roster today over the past 30 days against left-handed pitching for the White Sox Lopez zero Robert zero
32:27Vaughn Oh 91 Lee zero Vargas zero Sosa zero jokes zero Baldwin impressive. Oh
32:3671 so I don't know where any offense is coming whatsoever from Chicago
32:40Yeah, isn't this been the ultimate dynamic one pitcher who can't get right-handed batters out?
32:44You're gonna have a stacked lineup with primarily right-handed batters that none of them can hit left-handed pitching
32:49This one should be a barn burner out there in San Francisco
32:53Three and a half is the White Sox team total the under has the hefty juice at minus
32:58154 if that's the angle you would like to look again the White Sox
33:03Eliminated this weekend on Saturday night from playoff contention
33:08It is the earliest a team has been eliminated from playoff contention in Major League Baseball since
33:151969 that was the start of the division era around MLB that wonderful stat coming to us from our stat man
33:22That's Joe Frizo our producer here on the early line. Let's go late night out in Los Angeles
33:28the Dodgers a home favorite against the Seattle Mariners minus
33:31136 in favor of LA the Dodgers taking the rubber match yesterday in st. Louis
33:36The Mariners lost this weekend set entering this week at Chavez Ravine over under has dropped by the hook
33:43It's now at 8. What's the play in LA?
33:46I actually think it should be dropping there
33:48You take a look at Brian Wu entering the season here
33:51285 batters he's facing Oh 80 ISO against and a weighted on base percentage of 227. That's spectacular
33:56Now let's fast forward and go over just the last 30 days, which includes a hundred and fifteen batters
34:01That Oh 80 drops to an oh 71 that waited on base percentage to start 227 drops down to a 209
34:07He's been really really good including getting those strikeout props to be a little bit higher
34:11Of course, Oh Tani bets the house Hernandez Lux all on fire against right-handed pitching over the past 30 days
34:17He might be able to quiet some of those bats Gavin Stone
34:20If we're just looking at those numbers ISO power number weighted on base percentages again
34:24So last 30 days haven't been kind to Gavin Stone 89 batters
34:27He's faced over the past month of 310 ISO and a weighted on base percentage of 414 against here
34:33I'm gonna go with the Seattle Mariners on the road as a slight underdog price against the Dodgers
34:38I think they might have the better picture on the mound. The only question is hey, look Randy
34:41Rosa Rainey is back in the lineup
34:43So they probably get shut out yesterday finally waking up at the plate
34:46But their numbers do look decent against right-handed pitching and the better pitcher today is for the Mariners perspective
34:51I'll go with the short dog price on the ends
34:54Listen the EMS yesterday finally off the mat from an offensive perspective from a wind
34:59Perspective ten to three the victory to avoid a sweep in the series finale on the road in PNC Park against Pittsburgh
35:06They were swept by Detroit in the midweek. They lost two or three against the Pirates yesterday ended a five-game skid
35:12They're now four games back as the Astros are
35:16Surging winners of ten of their last eleven in the American League West Seattle hasn't been abysmal
35:21But they're just 12 and 15 since the all-star break and yes
35:26It is no surprise that when you win baseball games you score more runs that makes a ton of sense
35:31But when you look at the Mariners now last nine
35:35Losses if they lose a game they score at most two runs. That's not great
35:41Sure, you're not going to win many shootouts at all times if you're giving up seven or eight runs on the other side
35:46But just two runs or less in their last nine losses
35:50So four game difference now Houston in front in the American League West
35:55This is a really good matchup this week in H town
35:58Between the Astros and the Red Sox Boston three and a half games back of the third and final
36:03American League wildcard spot that KC occupies Houston four-game lead in the AL West minus
36:09132 the Astros favorite at home today
36:12You say Kikuchi the Astros have won all three of his starts since being acquired at the trade deadline
36:18Will it be a perfect four for four?
36:20Yeah, Boston seen a lot of him obviously from him being in the AL East but now going down to Houston
36:25He's been a very good pitcher particular over the past 30 days
36:27However, that Boston Red Sox lineup one through eight
36:31We leave out the ninth had about it Raffaella who doesn't have great statistics against lefties
36:35Everybody's weighted on base percentage and ISO power numbers for that batter are elevated here
36:39So that's an interesting number to look at if we go from the Houston bats tenor
36:42How probably you could say is the best pitcher overall on the season here for the Boston Red Sox leaking a little bit of oil
36:48over the past 30 days in the last
36:51134 batters, but also those weighted on base percentages against right-handed pitching for the Astros is elevated
36:56So typically to take a look at two good pitchers. It is a pitchers. Excuse me a hitters ballpark
37:00I'm actually gonna go against the grain here that eight and a half. I'm gonna go to the over
37:04I think these bats are gonna show up tonight in Houston enough to get nine runs here
37:08It's a little a little contrarian play for this one
37:11From Rivaldez has been great. You say Kikuchi has been really good in Houston again
37:16The Astros have won all three of the starts that he has made Seth Lugo used to only win now
37:22He's lost five of his last seven starts quickly here DRS before you go Royals Angels today at Kaufman wants to play
37:29Keep it simple Carson Fulmer really struggles with left-handed batters two guys in the lineup
37:33I like Vinnie Pascuantino and MJ Melendez with a legitimate chance to get RBI
37:36I think that makes the most sense tonight without paying maybe a heavy price here on Kansas City at minus 200 or better at home
37:43goodness
37:44Set and Seth Lugo been struggling. He needs to bounce back an opportunity tonight at home DRS. Enjoy the money line
37:51We'll talk tomorrow my friend the early line rounds out on this Monday up next
