00:00only four games on this Monday slate in Major League Baseball
00:07to start the final week of the regular season. A lot of teams
00:11have the day off before they start their second to last set
00:14of the year tomorrow on a Tuesday, but DRS still a lot
00:18of postseason implications at stake on this Monday. We start
00:23in Houston. The Astros host the Mariners minus 132 Houston
00:27the slight home favorite against Seattle. Total seven
00:31and a half. If Houston wins tonight, they clinched. They
00:35have a five-game lead in the American League West over
00:38Seattle, but the M's not out of it necessarily, despite the
00:42divisional standings. They're only two games back of those
00:45struggling teams in the American League wildcard chase
00:47as well. Yeah, they can win this game tonight. No doubt about
00:51it. Now, there's only eight total pitchers on the card.
00:53If you go back and take a look at those 20 minimum innings
00:56here, guess who's number one and number two on the card.
00:58It's Hunter Brown and it's Bryce Miller, both the pitchers
01:01in this ballgame in a playoff atmosphere. Understandably,
01:04wouldn't you like the under just a little bit more if it
01:06wasn't Seattle, not Houston, but still nonetheless, I don't
01:08see too many base hits in this baseball game. And also when
01:11we talk about kitchen sink games, Ben, there is no tomorrow
01:14for the Seattle Mariners, which means they're not going to
01:17look at a game like, hey, we just threw two relievers over
01:18the weekend. We want to give them the day off. There is no
01:21more of that. They have to win every single game here on out
01:23if they want to make the playoffs. But as you said, they're
01:26not going to win the division, but is there a legitimate
01:28chance that they can make the playoffs as a wild card? They
01:30win tonight. You get that half game from some teams that
01:33aren't even playing tonight and away you go into this final
01:36week. Must win game, coin flip on the mound. Give me the under
01:40seven and a half. I don't think we get eight runs tonight.
01:42Two good pitchers on the mound. It is crazy to think the
01:45Astros are going to win the American League West after how
01:48dismal the opening half of the year was for Houston. The
01:52Astros, if they win a division, they're going to be the
01:55third seed, it would seem, in the American League playoff
01:58picture behind both the Guardians and the Yankees, but
02:01they will host that opening round and a Houston team that
02:04has played in seven consecutive American League Championship
02:08Series will have the opportunity to make it eight in a row.
02:12Arizona and New York, they have the final two spots in the
02:15National League wild card standings, both looking up at
02:18San Diego by three games. The Padres swept the White Sox
02:22this weekend, as you would expect. San Francisco, though,
02:25the surprising sweep of the weekend in Kansas City at
02:29Coffman over the Royals. The D-backs took three of four,
02:32nearly four of four against Milwaukee. Arizona wants to
02:36keep winning, knowing how crucial the Braves and the Met
02:39Series is going to be starting tomorrow in Atlanta. What do
02:43you like tonight in the desert? And just as we talked about
02:46eight pitchers on the card, the top two pitchers on the card
02:48in the game we just talked about with Seattle and Houston.
02:51How about this? The two worst pitchers on the card we're going
02:53to talk about today with San Francisco and Arizona.
02:56That will be Eduardo Rodriguez and Hayden Birdsong. Here's
02:59the issue. Rodriguez has not been a good pitcher. Typically
03:02left-handed batters have been getting the best of him as a
03:04left-handed pitcher. That can't happen. But let's focus on
03:07the San Francisco Giants offense. One of those teams we
03:09never expect to do a ton of damage. They're in Arizona,
03:12not at home. Maybe they can break through. How about this?
03:15Let me give you the last 30 days action for this lineup
03:18against left-handed pitching them. We'll go one through
03:21eight. Fitzgerald all the way through Schmidt. ISO power
03:24numbers, Ben, are as followed. 0-0-0-0-0-0-0. And then Grant
03:33McRae, good old Grant McRae in the 9-hole there hitting
03:36300 with his ISO power number against left-handed pitching.
03:39So for my money, a team is in it, a team is out of it. One
03:42team can't hit lefties at all. It's got to be an Arizona
03:45Diamondbacks night tonight. Forget about how bad Eduardo
03:47Rodriguez is. They can't hit left-handed pitching.
03:49Diamondbacks win. Listen, those ISO power numbers never
03:53good when it is just a 0. San Francisco, slightly
03:56disappointing season once again by the Bay. Blake Snell
04:00has been great, but he was injured often in the opening
04:02two and a half months of this season. The Giants are two
04:05games below 500 currently going to miss out on the National
04:08League postseason. Is tonight the night that Red October
04:12officially begins in Philadelphia even in late September?
04:16Aaron Ola on the bump for the Phil's. They're a hefty
04:19home favorite back at the bank, excuse me, minus 178.
04:23Would they win? The Phillies claim the National League
04:25East. It would be the first time in the last seven years
04:29as the Atlanta Braves have won the division six consecutive.
04:32We've got a new team atop the National League East. Donnie,
04:35does it happen tonight for your Phillies? At the bank and
04:38yes, the brink of a championship and it should happen
04:41tonight. Having said that though, last performance there
04:44by Aaron Ola, he was sensational. I expect nonetheless,
04:46he should be good tonight. Nate Pearson, an average pitcher
04:49at best, but he look at that Phillies lineup last 30 days
04:52against right-handed pitching. Absolutely slaying it, but
04:55take a look at the Chicago Cubs last 30 days against
04:58right-handed pitching, which Nola is a good pitcher outside
05:01of Isak Paredes. Just about everybody is plus weighted on
05:04base percentage and ISO power numbers. Maybe a little over
05:07the total, but the Phillies still get the victory tonight
05:09in Philadelphia. You can't really see this, but this is my
05:13FanDuel Sportsbook app, way back on May 22nd at an even
05:17money plus 100 price. I bet the Phillies to win the National
05:20League East. Cash the ticket tonight, Philadelphia. The
05:23props are expected next.
