00:00When dumb cops make mistakes, the consequences can be fatal.
00:04Don't ever touch me again. Get the f*** off me.
00:08We're about to take a look at four cops who messed up so bad,
00:12they ruined their own career in minutes.
00:15There are several ways that cops deal with people who are drunk,
00:18and often they can turn a bad situation around with good policing and the right attitude.
00:23But it seems that this cop forgot all of his training except for one specific part.
00:27Sgt. Police had been with the Sunrise Police for 20 years,
00:31and was about as experienced an officer as you could get,
00:34which makes his actions during an arrest in November 2021 even more confusing.
00:39When he arrived on the scene, he found his fellow cops in the middle of a struggle.
00:43I can't move.
00:44Should I go?
00:45No, I can't move.
00:46Just get in the car.
00:48Alright, just get in the car.
00:51No, he doesn't want in the car.
00:53Get in the car.
00:56Just get in the car.
00:57Alright, I'm getting in.
00:58Get your feet in.
00:59The suspect had been arrested on Sunset Strip after being accused of punching another man,
01:04and officers are trying to get him inside the patrol car.
01:06But the suspect isn't playing ball,
01:08so Sgt. Police decides his 20 years of experience is enough to allow him to push other officers aside and take charge.
01:16Hey, hey, hey, look at me, look at me, look at me.
01:20You wanna f***ing play f***ing games?
01:22You're playing with the wrong motherf***er.
01:25You gonna mace me, mace me.
01:27The suspect decides to comply when the extremely aggressive officer steps in,
01:31and you'd think that'd be where the story ends.
01:34But for some reason, police just gets angrier and angrier
01:37until one noble cop decides that they just can't stand by and watch any longer.
01:42If you ever get disrespectful to my f***ing officers, I will remove your f***ing soul from your f***ing body.
01:49Do what you gotta do.
01:52Do what you gotta do.
01:58Police had to have been having a horrible day,
02:01as it was his threats to remove the suspect's soul from his body
02:05that prompted the young female officer to pull him back.
02:08This clearly angered him even further, leading to him grabbing her by the neck.
02:12This was not only illegal and a huge overreaction,
02:15but it was also terrifying for the rookie on the receiving end.
02:19Let's run a bit.
02:22We clear?
02:23Yes, sir.
02:26And I'll f***ing see you in about five minutes.
02:29Can you stop pulling the pants up from my f***ing wrists?
02:33I feel like I'm running somewhere. I'm right here.
02:35Police was eventually charged with felony battery of a police officer,
02:39which comes with a heavy punishment.
02:41Predictably, he decided to retire from the Sunrise Police in November 2022,
02:45and as of this video's upload, his case is still ongoing.
02:48This is just one of many examples of how cameras are essential to police work.
02:52But it turns out cameras are not only used to help catch criminals,
02:56but they can also be used to catch dumb cops in the act.
02:59This is the dashcam from a man in Seabrook, Texas.
03:02He has just been pulled over by a patrol car
03:04and decides to turn his own camera towards him
03:06to record the action in all its corrupt glory.
03:13Roll down?
03:14Why didn't you pull me over?
03:17I'll tell you that if you roll it down.
03:18Why can't you tell me now?
03:20Because the reason I pulled you over is you were yelling something on your car.
03:23So what?
03:24Huh?
03:25So what?
03:26That's why you pulled me over, because I'm yelling.
03:27Because I don't know if you're in need of help or anything.
03:28Oh, I don't need help. Thank you.
03:30Let me see your driver's license, please.
03:31I don't need help.
03:32You might be wondering why the driver is being so defensive.
03:35It all started a few seconds earlier when the driver yelled an expletive
03:38at the officer from his vehicle.
03:40Despite this not being illegal, the officer decided to follow him,
03:43and when the driver signaled to turn, he was pulled over.
03:46It's already cracked.
03:47I can't see that.
03:49Well, it doesn't matter. Here.
03:58I don't wish to answer questions.
04:00You have to let me know if there's a weapon in the car.
04:02Did you not take the class?
04:04I did.
04:05Did they tell you you have to tell them if they have to?
04:07When you demand identification, I have to display this.
04:11That's what they told me in the class.
04:12That's what the law says.
04:14There are two major mistakes that the officer has already made.
04:17Firstly, he claimed he had pulled the driver over for shouting out of his car window,
04:21but then claimed to have pulled him over to check if he was mentally okay.
04:25Most people know that free speech is protected under the First Amendment,
04:29and passively yelling curse words is completely legal in America.
04:33But when the driver challenges this, the officer suddenly changes his story
04:37and claims he pulled him over for making the turn.
04:39The turn was perfectly legal,
04:41making this stop completely unnecessary for a totally different reason.
04:45Luckily, the driver is well aware of this
04:47and lets this dumb cop show himself up on his dash cam for the whole world to see.
04:52Do I smell alcohol in your breath?
04:53No, you don't.
04:54How do I know?
04:55Because you can't smell my breath?
04:57I have to smell something coming out of your breath.
04:58Oh, really?
04:59Let's see. Let me do some field sobriety on you.
05:01I don't think so.
05:02Yeah, where are you coming from?
05:03Huh?
05:04Where are you coming from?
05:05You showed me where I was coming from.
05:06Fine, fine. I'll show you right now.
05:07Are you done with this?
05:08I'm done with that, yeah.
05:09All right, cool.
05:10Where are you coming from?
05:11I don't answer questions. I've already told you.
05:13Let me know when I'm free to go.
05:16Also, what is your name?
05:18Your name?
05:19Sheriff, that's your name?
05:21Sheriff?
05:22You can write about it right there.
05:23I'm not familiar with the English alphabet, sir.
05:26You'll be on the ticket.
05:28Okay.
05:29Can I have an incident number, please?
05:31Oh, a ticket. A ticket. Okay.
05:33Now the cop is playing hardball and refusing to give the driver his name.
05:37But once again, this cop is completely incorrect,
05:40as Texas law requires an officer to provide their identification
05:43when asked by a member of the public.
05:45While I have you here, okay,
05:48I don't want you exiting the vehicle because you have a weapon in the car.
05:51Did I exit the vehicle?
05:54Did I exit the vehicle?
05:56Give me your heads up.
05:57Did I exit the vehicle?
05:58Hey, can I...
06:00You do have a dash cam, right?
06:01Very good.
06:02You can't just pull me over because I said,
06:05I hope you realize that, stupid.
06:07Is that your current address? 1622?
06:10Is that a question?
06:11Yes, sir. Is that your current address?
06:12Do I answer questions?
06:15Okay, I'll just assume that's incorrect, then.
06:17And why would you do that?
06:19Did you read my address on the driver's license?
06:23It didn't have an address.
06:24It didn't have an apartment number on your driver's license.
06:26Of course it does.
06:27Let me see. Can you verify?
06:28You've already seen it.
06:30I've already complied with that part.
06:33Okay, I'll be right back.
06:36I say that I've never met anybody quite like you
06:38that would yell at an officer doing their job.
06:40So, let me understand.
06:42May I ask you a question?
06:44You can see by the body language of the officer
06:46just how defensive he's become
06:48over having his authority challenged.
06:50He's tried every trick in the book
06:51to try and outsmart this driver,
06:53but nothing's working,
06:54leading to the worst mistake of the whole interaction.
06:58Questions on there? There's the address.
07:00No, I have a question.
07:01Can you get your supervisor here, please?
07:03Is the stop over?
07:05The stop is over. You may leave.
07:06All right.
07:07Please don't exit until I get out.
07:10Well, you said the stop is over, right?
07:13No, it's not.
07:14Okay, I'm not getting out.
07:16Let me get back to my car.
07:18Okay, there is no need to draw your weapon, man.
07:21Are you drawing your weapon?
07:23Don't get out of the car.
07:25I didn't get out of the car.
07:26You told me that already.
07:28A warning? For what?
07:32Fail to signal with turn indicator within 100 feet.
07:37When the officer said the traffic stop was over,
07:39he also ordered the driver to stay inside his car,
07:42which he complied with.
07:43You have to wonder whether this cop can get anything right.
07:46And after this stop was over,
07:47the driver filed a complaint
07:49and is also due to file a lawsuit.
07:51If you thought that cop was clueless,
07:52these next two officers are so dumb,
07:54they allow themselves to be recorded
07:56discussing how to lock up an innocent man.
07:59I'm on the side of the road, legally parked,
08:02with a sign which is protected by the First Amendment.
08:04When officers see a man holding up a sign
08:06on the side of the road in March of 2022,
08:09they decide to pull over and check it out.
08:11The man named Jonathan was warning drivers
08:13of the speed trap that they were about to drive past.
08:16These two officers took offense big time.
08:19I'm going to do it right here where I'm at.
08:22Why do I have drivers coming up to me
08:24and telling me that you're jumping out and driving?
08:26Because apparently they're erroneous.
08:28I don't give a s*** what somebody else says.
08:30What did you witness?
08:32Nothing of the sort.
08:34So keep your s*** to yourself, pal.
08:36Traffic fines make up a percentage
08:38of police departments' budget,
08:39and these Delaware cops didn't want Jonathan
08:41to stand in their way of that crucial source of income.
08:44But Jonathan isn't accepting their claims
08:46that he's been walking into the road
08:48and stands his ground.
08:49You keep saying jumping in traffic.
08:51When did you witness this event?
08:53Don't come towards me.
08:54You came to me.
08:55You came to me.
08:57You came to me.
08:58You came to me.
08:59You came to me.
09:03So they want to lick your boots?
09:04Let them.
09:06Don't put your hands on me.
09:08But what one officer does next
09:10may have completely violated
09:11this citizen's right to express himself.
09:13Don't put your hands on me.
09:15Do not put...
09:19Give me my f***ing property back.
09:22You piece of...
09:23Give me my property back.
09:25You see this?
09:26You tyrant pieces.
09:28What are your f***ing badge numbers?
09:30Step back, okay?
09:31No.
09:32No, you stole my f***ing property.
09:34Did you see anything in my hands?
09:36You piece of...
09:37Have a nice day.
09:38Jonathan goes on to tell the officers
09:40that he's going to be right back here
09:42with a new sign as soon as he can.
09:44As he drives away,
09:45he makes an insulting hand gesture towards the cops,
09:47and of course, they pull him over for it.
09:50What happens over the course of this traffic stop
09:52is not just dumb,
09:53it's downright corrupt.
09:54You're stopping me
09:55for constitutionally protected speech, right?
09:57Because you had your hand out the window.
09:59This is what I did.
10:00You got a problem with that?
10:01Sir, listen to me.
10:02No, no, no.
10:04All right, listen.
10:05Go away.
10:06No, it is not.
10:07That is called freedom of speech.
10:10No, no, no, no, no.
10:12You are out in the public,
10:13and people see you.
10:14No, it is not.
10:15Here's what's going to happen.
10:16License, please.
10:17No.
10:18I want your supervisor, please.
10:19I am the supervisor.
10:21I am the supervisor.
10:22And that's why I'm here.
10:23And that's why I'm here.
10:24Both officers seem to be stumbling over
10:26exactly what they have pulled him over for,
10:28and it's honestly starting to look
10:29embarrassing at this point.
10:30And I'm going to take you to court.
10:32Here's what I'm saying.
10:33Take you to court.
10:34That's what I want you to do.
10:35That's what I want you to do.
10:36I want you to take him to court.
10:37But before we go any farther,
10:38you're pulling me over for what?
10:40Because you had your finger out the window.
10:42Disorderly conduct, what?
10:43That's what's about to happen.
10:44You're about to be arrested again
10:46for resisting arrest.
10:47No, I'm not resisting anything.
10:49Right now, you're being detained.
10:51For what?
10:52You're being detained.
10:53I told you why I stopped you already, sir.
10:55For putting my middle finger up.
10:56That's correct?
10:57Correct.
10:58Exactly.
10:59You extended your arm out the window.
11:00No, I had my middle finger out the window.
11:02Let me get you out of here.
11:03You had your middle finger out the window.
11:05It appears the officers are trying to arrest him
11:07on any charges they can,
11:09and when that doesn't work,
11:10they resort to dirty tricks.
11:12The next thing we're going to do,
11:13we're going to take you in,
11:14we're going to tow the car,
11:15and we'll call social services for the kid.
11:18Oh, so now you're threatening my child.
11:20No, it's not a threat.
11:21It's a promise.
11:22You're threatening my child now.
11:23I'm telling you what's going to happen.
11:24You heard the officer right.
11:26He's just threatened to get social services involved
11:28and have Jonathan's child taken away from him.
11:31What makes this case even more shocking
11:33is the fact that these two cops
11:34planned to lock him up,
11:35whatever it took,
11:36and it was all recorded on their own dash cam.
11:39I'm telling you,
11:40if you put your arm out the road,
11:42your hand out the road,
11:43and you, you're like,
11:44with a middle finger,
11:45you could, that's like a,
11:46isn't that?
11:47Isn't that?
11:49I'm pretty sure.
11:50Are you sure about that?
11:52Middle finger.
11:53Okay.
11:56I mean, he pulled him over for,
11:57like, giving him the middle finger.
11:58Yeah, for giving him the middle finger.
12:01Yeah, you can't do that.
12:02Yeah.
12:03That'll get dropped.
12:04Yeah, that's going to get dropped.
12:05I told him that's going to get thrown out,
12:06but it's just going, you know,
12:07it's going to cause a problem.
12:08Even after they're told by their supervisor
12:10that the charges will be thrown out,
12:12they still have a grand plan
12:13to put Jonathan in handcuffs.
12:15Right, right.
12:16Stuff like that, that'll fly.
12:17Unfortunately, I mean,
12:18Yeah.
12:19you can't,
12:20we can't pull people over.
12:22We can't write a ticket
12:23for telling us to fuck off.
12:24Right.
12:25Or giving us a middle finger
12:26and stuff like that.
12:27Yeah.
12:28You know, that's, that's
12:29their right to do so.
12:30Yeah.
12:31Yeah.
12:32But, all right,
12:33I'll do some more work up on this guy
12:35and I'll pass it on.
12:39And then number two, yeah,
12:40he, you know,
12:41we have no real basis here.
12:43Yeah.
12:44He's going to do something stupid.
12:45He's going to do something stupid one day
12:47where we are going to be able
12:48to lock him up for disorderly conduct
12:50or, and I just wish we had the witness
12:53and even had it on video.
12:55In the end,
12:56Jonathan filed a lawsuit
12:57against the officers
12:58saying they violated
12:59his constitutional rights
13:00by preventing him
13:01from warning motorists
13:02about a speed trap.
13:03In September 2023,
13:05he won the case
13:06and was awarded
13:07a $50,000 settlement sum.
13:09Nobody likes bad cops,
13:11so it's even more satisfying
13:12when a good cop takes one down,
13:14which is exactly what happened next.
13:16On January 14th, 2021,
13:18a resident of Harnett County, North Carolina
13:20reported her dirt bike as stolen.
13:22What followed was a series of events
13:24that led to an innocent 14-year-old
13:26being treated like a dirty criminal.
13:28Okay.
13:29Do me a favor, man,
13:30go ahead and put your hands behind your back
13:31for me, okay?
13:3216 days after the dirt bike
13:34was reported missing,
13:35it appeared on Facebook Marketplace
13:37and when the owner saw this,
13:38they set up a meeting with the seller
13:40in order to catch them out.
13:42When they arrived,
13:43they were met by 14-year-old Malcolm
13:44who did indeed have their dirt bike.
13:46They agreed to a deal
13:47and told Malcolm
13:48that they were headed out
13:49to an ATM machine
13:50to get the cash out
13:51when in fact,
13:52they were calling 911.
13:53The problem here
13:54was Malcolm was completely innocent
13:56and had bought the dirt bike
13:57off the true criminal
13:58in good faith
13:59without realizing it was stolen.
14:01He had made a hobby
14:02of fixing up bikes
14:03and selling them on,
14:04an impressive hustle
14:05for one so young.
14:06So you can imagine his surprise
14:07when instead of finding himself
14:09in profit,
14:10he found himself in handcuffs.
14:12Okay.
14:13What's your name?
14:14Malcolm.
14:15What's your last name?
14:16Malcolm Ziegler?
14:17Yeah.
14:18Okay.
14:19You got your ID on you?
14:20Okay.
14:21But that wasn't us, right?
14:22We haven't read it all this week.
14:23Where do you stay?
14:24You stay here?
14:25Yeah.
14:26Okay.
14:27I haven't read it all today.
14:28He could have just came by here.
14:31Who's that guy?
14:32Who's that guy running down the street?
14:33That's his friend.
14:34They say something up there.
14:35Okay.
14:36Do me a favor, man.
14:37Go ahead and put your hands
14:38behind your back for me, okay?
14:40Right there.
14:42You're in possession
14:43of a stolen motor vehicle.
14:44What?
14:45What?
14:46Hey, do you want to go
14:47and verify that for me?
14:48Yeah.
14:49What?
14:50Do me a favor, man.
14:51Just come to my car
14:52right over here, okay?
14:53What the...
14:54Can I get the bill of sale
14:55and show you that I bought it?
14:56Yeah, yeah, yeah.
14:57We'll get all that
14:58taken care of, man.
14:59But what I need you to do
15:00is just hang tight for me
15:01right here, okay?
15:02The officer places him
15:03under arrest without verifying
15:04any of the facts.
15:05He had no way of knowing
15:06if Malcolm was in fact
15:07in possession of stolen goods
15:09and spent no time
15:10attempting to hear
15:11his side of the story.
15:14Well, I'm going to work
15:15on getting you out of there
15:16soon, okay?
15:17Just keep cooperating with me.
15:18I appreciate it.
15:19And we'll get everything
15:20squared away.
15:21You never stole before.
15:22Okay.
15:23And, sir...
15:24I'm trying to find the bill
15:25of sale.
15:26And I'm not saying
15:27that you stole it.
15:28Right now, what we've got
15:29is we've just got
15:30a stolen motor vehicle.
15:31We're not saying
15:32that you stole the vehicle.
15:33Okay, I'm not saying
15:34that at all, okay?
15:35But it still is a crime
15:36to be in possession
15:37of a stolen motor vehicle.
15:38The officer claims
15:39it is illegal to be
15:40in possession of a stolen
15:41motor vehicle,
15:42which may be true
15:43in most cases,
15:44but not here.
15:45If a suspect willingly
15:46buys or owns an item
15:47that they know is stolen,
15:48then that is a crime.
15:49But since Malcolm
15:50was ignorant to this fact,
15:51he was totally innocent
15:52and this arrest
15:53could prove to be
15:54extremely unlawful.
15:56I can tell you,
15:57I can show you,
15:58if you can go on my phone,
15:59I can show you
16:00exactly where I bought it from.
16:01Okay, okay.
16:02We met at the
16:03Lillington Presbyterian Church.
16:05Okay.
16:06If you know where that is.
16:07Okay.
16:08Lillington Presbyterian Church.
16:09Where your dad's
16:10coming over here right now?
16:11It's about 830.
16:13We met.
16:14Hey, how are you doing, sir?
16:15Hey, um...
16:16Dad, I need that bill of sale.
16:17The reason all this
16:18is going down,
16:19um, that vehicle's
16:20been entered as stolen
16:21into National Crime
16:22Information Center.
16:23Do you have the bill
16:24of sale by any chance, sir?
16:25I don't know where it is.
16:26It's either in my room
16:27or in the garage.
16:30As Malcolm's father
16:31tries to find proof
16:32his son bought the bike
16:33legally,
16:34two other responding
16:35officers begin to voice
16:36their concerns over
16:37what is happening
16:38in front of their
16:39very eyes.
16:40Is he detained
16:41or 1095?
16:42From what I heard,
16:431095.
16:44And that was before
16:45I even verified the van.
16:46Okay.
16:47That's why it was
16:48my first thing I asked.
16:49That's what...
16:50Now I'm not 100% certain,
16:51but I believe I heard
16:521095 before I was
16:53even able to verify
16:54the van.
16:57Eventually,
16:58one of them decides
16:59to intervene.
17:00Is he detained
17:01or is he...
17:02He's detained right now
17:03because he is...
17:04He's 14.
17:05He's 14.
17:06Yes.
17:07Okay.
17:08So I already explained to him
17:09he's detained right now.
17:10I told him that...
17:11So why is he detained?
17:12Because that's a stolen
17:13motor vehicle.
17:15Okay.
17:17So...
17:18I mean,
17:19Diggs verified
17:20the van number, right?
17:21Did you...
17:22Is that before all the...
17:23Did you verify it
17:24before you...
17:25I detained him
17:26and then we verified it.
17:27That's why I asked
17:28if he was 1095 or detained.
17:29He's detained.
17:30Okay.
17:31So...
17:32Obviously,
17:33he's a juvenile, right?
17:34Yeah.
17:35Ain't no sense
17:36where...
17:37You ain't...
17:38If he was 18
17:39and you might be
17:40taking him to jail
17:41for possession
17:42of stolen property,
17:43different.
17:44But you ain't
17:45going to take him to jail,
17:46right?
17:47It's going to be a petition.
17:48The officer
17:49clearly knows
17:50what he's talking about
17:51when he explains
17:52the difference
17:53between detaining
17:54an adult and a child.
17:55And after urging
17:56his fellow officer
17:57to reconsider his position,
17:58the arresting cop
17:59finally comes to his senses.
18:00After finally being released,
18:01Malcolm found the receipt
18:02for the dirt bike
18:03and no further action
18:04was taken.
18:05But his family
18:06later released
18:07a press conference
18:08where they asked
18:09for police reform
18:10in the wake
18:11of another juvenile
18:12suffering mistreatment
18:13at the hands
18:14of law enforcement.
