00:02FBI agents are some of the most powerful authorities, even more powerful than cops.
00:07But what happens when FBI agents mess up, and cops try to arrest them?
00:11This guy was approached on the street by a team of cops who claimed he looked like a criminal they'd been searching for.
00:17But little did police know, he was actually an undercover FBI agent about to do the unthinkable.
00:24Get out of my face, man. You guys are harassing me.
00:26Yes, you guys are.
00:27You're fucking harassing me.
00:29Yes, you are. No, no. He's harassing me. Why are you harassing me?
00:32You're assuming I'm someone I'm not.
00:35No, no, no, no, no.
00:37Us? Am I being detained? For what?
00:39The cops confirmed that they've pulled over this man because he looks like a man that they have a warrant out for.
00:45Remember that the law requires cops to have reasonable suspicion that somebody has committed a crime before making an arrest.
00:51Meaning, they were way beyond their rights.
00:54I'm not harassing you. For what?
00:57I don't have any lawyers. You're very wrong.
01:00Okay, but I'm wrong. I'm wrong.
01:01No, you are wrong. What do you mean you're wrong? You're wrong. You're wrong.
01:04We're not going to play this game.
01:05Hold up. No, no, no.
01:08The cops continue to give an incredibly loose reason for detaining him,
01:11and also state that if they're wrong, they're wrong.
01:14A terrifying statement that's both unprofessional and dangerous.
01:19If an officer feels comfortable using that logic here,
01:22it's likely they'd also feel comfortable using it in a higher stakes situation,
01:26possibly endangering the public.
01:29Hey, yo. Hey, hey, hey, hey.
01:31Hey.
01:32Hey, officer.
01:33No, no, no.
01:34Matter of fact, matter of fact, look at my ID.
01:36He got the wrong ID, I'm telling y'all.
01:38Look at my ID, motherfucker.
01:39You guys look at the wrong ID.
01:40You guys are fucking stupid.
01:41That's not you.
01:42You guys are racial profiled thinking I'm somebody.
01:44You guys really had nothing else to go to college for but be a cop and harass me?
01:47To assume I'm somebody I'm not?
01:49What's that?
01:50My ID's in my back pocket.
01:51Y'all got the wrong ID.
01:52Hey, watch how funny this is.
01:53Watch this.
01:54No, no, hey, look at it.
01:56Oh, what does that say?
01:57What does that say?
01:58All of a sudden, this man procures an official FBI ID card,
02:03proving both that he's not the man they're looking for,
02:06and that these cops are now in big trouble.
02:08Check out how this cop goes from consistently making direct eye contact with the suspect,
02:13to refusing to meet his eyes at any point after seeing the ID.
02:17Oh!
02:19Wrong guy.
02:20Wrong guy.
02:21Oh my God.
02:22No, get the fuck off me, dude.
02:24Get off me, dude.
02:25I need your supervisor over here.
02:27Call your supervisor.
02:28Call your supervisor.
02:29What the fuck is wrong with you guys?
02:31Look at him.
02:32Get him.
02:33Tough guy.
02:34And this guy here.
02:35What do you mean, I look like him?
02:36The entire event was incredibly unprofessional and poorly handled by the fault of the officers.
02:41But at least the cops were respectful of this agent after finding out his true identity.
02:45Things ended differently for ATF agent Burke,
02:48who was treated so badly by police that he had to file a lawsuit against them.
02:52But first, let's take a moment to thank our sponsor, Surfshark,

03:51Agent Burke was dispatched to a house to confiscate a firearm
03:54that had been illegally acquired by the residents.
03:56However, instead of being granted access to the home,
03:59the door was instead shut in his face, and the residents called the police.
04:03The cops were given Agent Burke's badge number,
04:06but still treated the incident as a break-in, and Burke as a criminal.
04:32Agent Burke refuses immediate orders to get on the ground,
04:35likely so police can check if he's armed or not,
04:37and continues the investigation safely.
04:40Burke believes that because he's a federal agent,
04:42he's not subject to the orders of municipal police.
04:45But if that was the case,
04:46any criminal could falsely claim they were a federal agent to bypass police orders.
04:51While he may not think he looks like a threat himself,
04:53it remains that he should have politely followed the orders
04:56so the cops could figure out the situation easily.
04:59But instead, things continue to escalate.
05:02What the heck's the matter with you? Who do you think you are?
05:04Get on the ground!
05:05I'm not getting on the ground!
05:06Thanks.
05:07I'm not getting on the ground!
05:08917, I'm pulling up.
05:09I got my ID.
05:10Do not reach for your waist!
05:12Keep your hands up!
05:14Once a second officer arrives,
05:16Burke finally follows the orders and lays down on the ground.

06:30In the distressing footage, Burke continues to tell the officers that he's an ATF agent
06:31that he's an ATF agent.
06:32The officers then force Burke to make a call and to simply take his ID from his back pocket.
06:34After finally looking at his ID, officers keep him under arrest and take him to their
06:39patrol vehicle.
06:40Why would you make us do this?
06:41I didn't want you to!
06:42I wanted to!
06:43Wait!
06:44Hold him!
06:45Hold him!

06:49Hey, guys, please.
06:50Just talk to me for one second, please.
06:51Get in the car.
06:52We'll talk later.
06:53Sir!
06:54The cops then force Burke into the vehicle, talking over his pleas and explanations regarding
06:55his medical condition.
06:56Please, sir!
06:57If you are a real police officer, you ought to be ashamed of yourself!
06:58I was trying to give you my credit!
06:59We got him in the car.
07:00He might even be a real cop, but he wouldn't tell us.
07:01He wouldn't do anything.
07:02He wouldn't get on the ground.
07:03I mean, what the heck?
07:04We had to take his room.
07:05We got a medic coming.

08:41Of course, Mac has every right to stay silent in the face of the officers' questions, especially
09:07ones that don't at all pertain to criminal proceedings.
09:11At no point did he raise his tone or say anything out of line, yet the officer asks
09:15why he's being so angry.
09:18Many people think that some police officers are used to consistently being in command
09:22and control on these interactions, and it's possible the same is true with this officer.
09:26When Mac exercised his rights and just asked for things to be moved along, this cop was
09:31surprised and took it as a combative statement.
09:56The officer informs Mac that he is being detained for parking here.
09:59To issue a citation for parking violation, you must be breaking either local, state,
10:03or federal law.
10:59without further incident, but this interaction raises questions about why he was met with
11:03further difficulties after doing nothing other than exercising his Fifth Amendment right.
11:08In fact, it's strange that the entire interaction even happened in the first place.
11:12If the officer had observed Mac's vehicle obstructing traffic, the incident could have
11:16been avoided by simply asking him to move his vehicle out of the way and let him go
11:20about his day from there.
11:21Instead, the officer detained Mac, preventing him from moving his vehicle and keeping it
11:26in the very place that's allegedly impeding traffic flow.
11:29The cop later found out that Mac wasn't even a federal agent or officer himself and
11:33simply managed to prove just how valuable it is to know the law.
