00:00:15They say, the harder the work, the greater the reward.
00:00:21This is our life's work.
00:00:27Good afternoon.
00:00:28It is 4.01, Tuesday, September 27th.
00:00:31This is the TDN Writer's Room presented by Keeneland.
00:00:34My name is Joe Bianca.
00:00:35I'm the Associate Editor of the Thoroughbred Daily News.
00:00:37And if you haven't heard yet, this is my last show hosting the Writer's Room.
00:00:40So I want to say once and for all, Bill, I hope your dear patriots win the Super Bowl.
00:00:45Joe, don't even start with me.
00:00:46You know I hate the goddamn patriots.
00:00:48Now, he's got me all, I'm ready to do a great show.
00:00:50I've been riled up.
00:00:51But speaking to the team that really does matter to me, the Boston Red Sox,
00:00:54once again, Seth Klarman, part owner of the Boston Red Sox,
00:00:57I'm still waiting for him to get in touch with me.
00:00:59Seth, I've got all sorts of thoughts and ideas to share with you,
00:01:02how to fix this mess you guys have created in Boston.
00:01:05You know where to reach me, Seth.
00:01:06Come on, pal.
00:01:08He's busy this week.
00:01:09He's going to be busy this week.
00:01:10We'll see if we can tat ourselves, but we'll try to get him on.
00:01:12So replacing me or John, one of us coming on the show, going forward,
00:01:17is the great host and analyst from XBTV, Zoe Cadman.
00:01:22And Zoe had a little bit of an initiation this week,
00:01:25watching the Writer's Room.
00:01:26Zoe, why don't you tell us a little bit more about that?
00:01:28Well, first off, guys, I am just so excited and delighted to be here
00:01:33joining all of you.
00:01:35But I was listening to the Writer's Room last week,
00:01:38and I had a long journey back from Kentucky.
00:01:40And I was listening to it, and I was like, my God,
00:01:43how many times do they say the F word in this show?
00:01:46The F word being flight line.
00:01:48Be careful, Zoe.
00:01:49I know, right?
00:01:50So I said to some of my friends, Dan Ross, who writes for you guys,
00:01:54is a very dear friend of mine.
00:01:56I hadn't seen them in over three months.
00:01:58And I said, let's play a drinking game called the Flight Line at Drinking Games.
00:02:03So we played back your podcast, and every time someone said the F word,
00:02:08we drank.
00:02:09Dan Ross has it all.
00:02:15Everyone ready for the drinking game?
00:02:17Yay.
00:02:18I am.
00:02:20Of course.
00:02:21I lost the drinking game.
00:02:24We talked to you about this two weeks ago when you were on the show.
00:02:26We talked about Flight Line.
00:02:28Yay.
00:02:31At Flight Line at Drinking Games.
00:02:37If it's red, can we drink too?
00:02:38Drink.
00:02:39Okay.
00:02:40We're flight line, yeah.
00:02:44Flight line.
00:02:45Drink.
00:02:47I feel weak currently.
00:02:49Flight line.
00:02:54Drink.
00:02:55Hey, drink.
00:02:58Red flight line.
00:03:03Flight line.
00:03:09Yay.
00:03:10Yay.
00:03:13One more.
00:03:14Yay.
00:03:15Yay.
00:03:18Cheers.
00:03:23Let me just say, this should be a PSA service announcement with that
00:03:29drinking game.
00:03:30Do not play this unless you have the day off the very next day,
00:03:33because it was not pretty yesterday.
00:03:37Yeah.
00:03:38Zoe had a slow start to her first writer's rubric week because of that.
00:03:41Honestly, I thought I was a little disappointed.
00:03:43I thought you guys were going to do a full drink every time,
00:03:46but I guess you would have been in the hospital then.
00:03:49Sue already warned me that she said, just take two sips.
00:03:52They say flight line a lot.
00:03:53So yeah, thank you, Sue, for that.
00:03:56Yeah, absolutely.
00:03:57We're thrilled to have Zoe on.
00:03:58What an intro.
00:03:59What a great intro.
00:04:00Couldn't do it any better.
00:04:02The TDN Writer's Room is presented by Keeneland.
00:04:04Returning this November,
00:04:05the Keeneland will offer a single session dedicated to race horses on the
00:04:08final day of the November sale,
00:04:10which is November 17th.
00:04:11Entry deadline is September 30th for the print catalog.
00:04:14However, supplemental entries will be considered until sale day.
00:04:19We had a big day of racing at Parks on Saturday,
00:04:22and there was a little bit of a kerfuffle on the backstretch at Parks as
00:04:25well that we're going to get to a little later on the show.
00:04:27But let's talk about what happened on the track.
00:04:29The big races, obviously,
00:04:30were the Pennsylvania Derby and the Cotillion.
00:04:32A really devastating performance by Teva,
00:04:34I thought, in the Pennsylvania Derby.
00:04:36There were some, I think,
00:04:38some fair questions about him going into the race,
00:04:40because he had started so hot,
00:04:42especially with that Santa Anita Derby win.
00:04:44There was really nowhere to be found in the Kentucky Derby.
00:04:46Came back and ran well in the Haskell,
00:04:48but not necessarily well enough to think that he was going to jump towards
00:04:51the head of the three-year-old class.
00:04:53He left no doubt in that race on Saturday.
00:04:55He was terrific.
00:04:56And I think he's the kind of horse that would really benefit from coming
00:04:59back as a four-year-old,
00:05:01because I still think he has development to come.
00:05:03Now it's a tough year for a three-year-old to really match up against the
00:05:06older horses, especially because of, I won't say his name, Zoe,
00:05:09but it's a little bit of a tough year to make a dent against the older
00:05:14horses. But in a normal year,
00:05:16I think that he would be one of the top contenders for the classic.
00:05:19He's getting good at the right time. And that was a good feel.
00:05:22That was a legitimate grade one million dollar race.
00:05:24And he made short work of those horses.
00:05:26He also slammed the door, I think,
00:05:28on any idea that anybody other than Epicenter was going to win the
00:05:31champion three-year-old male Eclipse award.
00:05:34I think the Cyberknife was the only one that had even a sliver of a chance
00:05:37to do that. And Cyberknife obviously was no match for Teva on Saturday.
00:05:41Bill and Zoe, what did you think about the PA Derby?
00:05:43Well, Joe, one thing I'll disagree with you.
00:05:45What if Flightline does not win the Breeders' Cup Classic and Teva does,
00:05:49I think that, I mean,
00:05:50we don't think that's going to happen because, you know,
00:05:53most of us are just thinking that the Flightline will,
00:05:56it's just a matter of how far he wins the race by.
00:05:58But I think if he combines the Breeders' Cup Classic with what he's
00:06:00accomplished this year,
00:06:02he has a very good case for horse of the year.
00:06:04I was waiting for this kind of performance from this horse.
00:06:07And reason why is, you know,
00:06:09look what they had tried to accomplish with him.
00:06:12Going in the Santa Anita Derby in his second career start,
00:06:15going in the Kentucky Derby in his third career start.
00:06:18He wins the Santa Anita Derby, doesn't run well in the Kentucky Derby,
00:06:22but it was too much too soon for this horse.
00:06:24Then he comes back and the Haskell runs well,
00:06:27but he looks like a horse in the Haskell that, you know,
00:06:29is there more just like you said, Joe, is there something more?
00:06:32And yes, there was, you know, this horse,
00:06:35I think for the first time really showed us what he can do.
00:06:39And, you know, we didn't get the epicenter table matchup.
00:06:42I mean, any way you slice it,
00:06:43they're the two best three-year-olds in the country right now.
00:06:46As good as Cyberknife is and as consistent as he is,
00:06:49I think he's at best number three behind these two right now.
00:06:52And he put in a tremendous performance, you know,
00:06:55and is he the champion?
00:06:57Well, again, we'll see what happens there.
00:06:58But, you know, right now,
00:07:00I think he might be every bit as good as epicenter.
00:07:02I mean, correct me if you disagree with that.
00:07:04And so I'd like to see what you have to say about that.
00:07:06This was a terrific performance and this was a very good field.
00:07:10There were the winners of five grade one races in there,
00:07:13including Cyberknife,
00:07:14the two-time grade one winner of the Haskell Arkansas Derby.
00:07:17Zanden wins the Bluegrass, White Averio who's won the Florida Derby.
00:07:22It was a stacked field, a very good race.
00:07:24And, you know, he just,
00:07:26he really was a man among boys in that race.
00:07:28I was very, very impressed.
00:07:30I'm going to echo the same sentiments.
00:07:32I think he's basically a young horse mentally who is finally figuring things out.
00:07:37And a lot of people critiqued Mike Smith ride in the Haskell for going 15 wide.
00:07:43But the truth, Matt,
00:07:44the fact of the matter simply was he didn't like being inside.
00:07:47It was the first time he got kicked back.
00:07:49We've all seen on XBTV how Bob works his horses.
00:07:53They don't sit behind other horses in old school ways and learn to eat dirt.
00:07:58So the fact he'd never really had any dirt kicked in his face sent him backwards.
00:08:02Mike had no choice but to go around horses.
00:08:05And I think he definitely learned an awful lot in the Haskell.
00:08:09And he did sit behind horses.
00:08:11He still came around at the end of the day.
00:08:14But this is a horse who I think is getting better and better.
00:08:18And bear in mind that speed was very, very kind to the front runners all day long.
00:08:23This is a horse who actually sat off the pace.
00:08:25So I think we're just reaching the tip of the iceberg.
00:08:28And if he stays in training next year, I'm really,
00:08:31really going to look forward to that because he's not an overly big horse.
00:08:35He's a compact horse.
00:08:36I've seen enough times in the morning,
00:08:38but I think mentally he's just been behind the eight ball.
00:08:41And I think he's just getting it together.
00:08:44And the fact that Bob opted to keep Mike Smith on him says an awful lot because Mike
00:08:49knew he was being critiqued for all the wrong reasons.
00:08:52And, yeah, we know what Mike is now.
00:08:54Mike likes to go wide, and that's fine.
00:08:55But he still can be brilliant at the best of times.
00:08:59So I think the best is yet to come with Tabor.
00:09:01I really, really do.
00:09:02Yeah.
00:09:03I mean, you know, Money Mike has that nickname for a reason because,
00:09:07you know, a lot of times when he's riding the best horse,
00:09:10your job is simply not to get the horse in trouble.
00:09:13Just keep the horse in the clear.
00:09:14You're right that I think sometimes he gets caught with his pants down a little bit
00:09:18when he does that.
00:09:19But, overall, I think that's the right strategy when you're riding four to five
00:09:21favorites, three to five favorites.
00:09:23Don't try to get cute.
00:09:24Don't try to squeeze through.
00:09:25Just keep the horse in the clear, and it works out.
00:09:27Usually when you have the best horse, and Tabor was clearly the best horse.
00:09:30I think what's interesting about him is that he has shown those multiple
00:09:33dimensions.
00:09:34He's got a lot of speed.
00:09:35He won his debut going six furlongs, but he's able to sit off the pace
00:09:38and make one run.
00:09:40I think that that's going to be beneficial for him going forward,
00:09:43especially as he tries to stretch out to a mile and a quarter.
00:09:46But it wasn't just about him.
00:09:48It was more about his sire on Saturday and everything that Gunrunner is doing.
00:09:52There are no more superlatives, really, that I think we can come up with to
00:09:57describe Gunrunner and his immense success, immense early success as a stallion
00:10:02because he had both grade one winners on Saturday at Parks.
00:10:06He had Tabor.
00:10:07Heidi, who ran away with a wire-to-wire win in the Cotillion,
00:10:10looked very good in that race.
00:10:12She's starting to come into her own a little bit.
00:10:14But he had multiple stakes winners at Churchill, too.
00:10:17He had Gunite in the Harrods Creek stakes.
00:10:19He had Echo Zulu came back and showed her top form in the Dogwood stakes.
00:10:24He also had 63 Caliber, who won the Seneca overnight stakes on Saturday
00:10:28at Churchill Downs.
00:10:30I can't remember a stallion having five major stakes winners on one day.
00:10:35It's just remarkable because these are still his first books.
00:10:38He wasn't necessarily getting the kind of mares that he's going to get now.
00:10:42He's going to get the cream of the crop in terms of mares, even over some other
00:10:47superstar stallions, especially as some of them start to age.
00:10:50Gunrunner is going to be getting the first call for a lot of breeders.
00:10:54I'm curious about what you guys think.
00:10:55Have you ever seen a stallion get off to this quick of a start and have so much
00:11:00success in his first couple of books?
00:11:03Joe, no.
00:11:05The two-year-olds are his second crop.
00:11:09It's not too early.
00:11:11We get caught up in hyperbole and hype a little bit, but it's not too early to
00:11:15say he's one of the greatest stallions of all time because this is only going
00:11:18to continue.
00:11:19He's a young horse.
00:11:21He's going to be around as a stallion for what, another 15, 16 years?
00:11:27Imagine what he's going to be able to accomplish throughout the longevity of
00:11:31his career.
00:11:32There's nothing fluky about this.
00:11:34In horse racing, nobody comes up with statistics like this, but I would love to
00:11:39know if a horse has ever had five stakes winners on one day.
00:11:43Probably not, and that's talking about all the great stallions that have gone
00:11:47through the sport, going back to the horses like Bold Ruler and things like
00:11:51that in a bygone era.
00:11:53Again, it's like when we talk about flight line, you run out of superlatives
00:11:59what to say about him as a racehorse.
00:12:01It's the same thing with Gunrunner.
00:12:03You're running out of superlatives what to say for him as a sire.
00:12:07Those numbers are just absolutely unbelievable.
00:12:10It's not just the five.
00:12:11It's every category you want to look at, every single category as far as
00:12:15stakes runners, number of winners, et cetera.
00:12:17He is a superstar, a super-duper star as a sire.
00:12:21You just look at the numbers, and we've seen brilliant racehorses.
00:12:25Tapit was an okay racehorse.
00:12:28He's a fantastic sire.
00:12:30But it's very rare that we find a champion, a horse of the year,
00:12:34a Breeders' Cup winner who was a two-year-old winner,
00:12:37who sired 31 first crop winners, who sired five stakes winners.
00:12:42It's rare to have the whole package.
00:12:44Has there ever been a horse of the year that started out their first season
00:12:49like this?
00:12:50I don't think there has.
00:12:51We got into Mischief.
00:12:52He wasn't the horse of the year.
00:12:53There's numerous horses that have not had such an incredible year.
00:12:58You talk about great race mares not being able to reproduce themselves.
00:13:03So often, great racehorses cannot reproduce themselves.
00:13:07And I think Gunrunner seemingly has it all.
00:13:10He's absolutely amazing.
00:13:12Yeah, and a lot of people have made this point,
00:13:15but he was not really an early type.
00:13:17He was a little bit of a later-developing horse.
00:13:19So it's scary to imagine what his horses are going to be like as they get to
00:13:24race beyond their three-year-old year, which we obviously haven't seen yet.
00:13:27This is his first crop that's doing what it's doing as three-year-olds right now.
00:13:30So imagine if these horses are going to get even better as four-year-olds and
00:13:33five-year-olds.
00:13:34And like I said, factor in that he's now going to be getting the top of the
00:13:37top mares.
00:13:38Not that he was an under-the-radar stallion ever, even at the beginning,
00:13:41but he wasn't this.
00:13:42Nobody has been this this soon.
00:13:45So it's going to be – I mean, the sky is – the space is the limit.
00:13:50Like how far can we go?
00:13:51Another galaxy like for Gunrunner?
00:13:54Because he's going to shatter all those ceilings, it seems.
00:13:57Well, Joe, let's talk about his other grade one winner on Saturday,
00:14:00which was Society and the Cotillion.
00:14:02I handicapped that race and I looked at her and she had that one huge figure
00:14:05last time out at Charlestown.
00:14:07I was like, yeah, right, Charlestown.
00:14:08This race is around five turns or whatever.
00:14:10And, you know, I thought it was completely fluky.
00:14:13And, boy, was I wrong.
00:14:14And I thought she was ultra-impressive in there.
00:14:17And I love horses who have this running style.
00:14:20They get out of the gate, they go fast, and they run hard,
00:14:23and they just run the competition off their feet.
00:14:26It's like, I'm going to go out fast and there's nothing you can do about it,
00:14:29and I'm just going to beat you every step of the way.
00:14:32She was really, really good.
00:14:34Now, can she duplicate that in the Breeders' Cup,
00:14:36distaff against much tougher horses, among them Nest?
00:14:39I don't know if she can or not, but I think she's a serious player
00:14:42in this division now.
00:14:44And, again, the Cotillion liked the Pennsylvania Derby.
00:14:47They didn't have Nest.
00:14:48It had Secret Oath.
00:14:49It was a really strong field.
00:14:51And she was a winner of that race every single step of the way.
00:14:55Maybe you thought, okay, she's going to quit after six furlongs
00:14:57or something like that, quit after four furlongs.
00:14:59No, she was strong every step of the way.
00:15:02It was a really smart ride by Giroux.
00:15:04I love when jockeys are aggressive like that.
00:15:06They just go out and say, I'm on the best horse.
00:15:08I'm going to go out and run these horses off their feet.
00:15:10She's another gunrunner who has picked up a Grade 1 winner
00:15:13and is going to be someone to keep an eye on.
00:15:17I was equally impressed with her in her race as I was with Teva.
00:15:21I really thought she was very, very good.
00:15:23And look out, Nest.
00:15:24Maybe she's got some competition coming down the block for her as well,
00:15:27assuming that the Phillies will come back next year at fourth
00:15:29as most good Phillies do.
00:15:31Yeah, and she's very, very good.
00:15:33But I think a lot of people are going to take from that race,
00:15:36oh, well, it was a speed-favoring racetrack and this, this, and that.
00:15:40Nobody was touching her that day, and she was tremendous,
00:15:43and she really did up her game.
00:15:45And the one thing about Steve Asmussen being the trainer is,
00:15:49if you look at his good horses,
00:15:51he just prides himself in managing to keep them on the same level.
00:15:56She's reached that Grade 1 plateau, and Steve has a unique knack,
00:16:00if you look at his good horses over the year,
00:16:03of keeping them there for as long as possible.
00:16:05And then when they're done, they're basically, they're done.
00:16:08They've done their bit.
00:16:09But I can see this Philly, now that she's reached that Grade 1 plateau,
00:16:14just carrying on.
00:16:16Well, and I liked her in that race, too,
00:16:18because I thought there wasn't a lot of speed on paper.
00:16:20So I was like, you know, she'll be able to set moderate fractions.
00:16:23So much for the moderate fractions.
00:16:24She blitzed through, like, 46 and change, but really just kept going.
00:16:28So I felt smart, even though I was technically wrong.
00:16:30You know, I love those, I love those opinions where,
00:16:32honestly, it has to be a slow pace.
00:16:34If it wasn't a slow pace, didn't matter, still catch the ticket.
00:16:36But so there was a little bit, a little bit of drama on the park's backstretch.
00:16:40It wasn't all about the racing this Saturday.
00:16:42Bill Finley has done some reporting on this.
00:16:44As the crackdowns continue in Pennsylvania on potential cheaters,
00:16:48we're going to talk more about that after this break.
00:16:51The TDN Writer's Room is brought to you by Keeneland.
00:16:54The Keeneland September sale ended its record run on Saturday
00:16:57with gross sales of $405,495,700.03.
00:17:04I'm just kidding.
00:17:05The highest in Keeneland auction history.
00:17:08with an all-time high average of $142,429 and a median of $70,000.
00:17:14So records across the board, which is hard to do because of the standard
00:17:17that Keeneland September has set over the years.
00:17:20And here's some stats that represent the diversity of the buying bench.
00:17:2388 different buyers each spent $1 million or more.
00:17:2688 30-year-olds sold for $1 million or more.
00:17:30The top 10 highest-priced horses sold to eight different buyers.
00:17:33And demand for horses produced a record clearance rate of 82%.
00:17:37Shout out to Katie for all those stats.
00:17:39It was a remarkable, remarkable sale.
00:17:40Obviously just watching it when you see it all boiled down like that,
00:17:43it really is staggering.
00:17:44So congrats to everybody at Keeneland on an immensely successful sale.
00:17:48And we'll be right back after this message from Keeneland.
00:17:51When the thoroughbred world descends upon Lexington this November,
00:17:56there is one place you need to be.
00:17:58The place where history comes alive with every championship victory.
00:18:05The place where the future is built with the fall of a gavel.
00:18:09The place that exists to be the heart of this industry.
00:18:13The center of it all.
00:18:15Home to the November breeding stock sale and the 2022 Breeders' Cup.
00:18:20Keeneland.
00:18:22He was just put together like a machine and he had a great mind.
00:18:25Everything about him was what you'd want.
00:18:27Tis the law pops the cork and the champagne.
00:18:30Tis the law is going to win the first leg of the Triple Crown.
00:18:34I've never seen him get tired.
00:18:36Respect the law.
00:18:37Tis the law.
00:18:38His structure is just perfect.
00:18:40His bone is perfect.
00:18:42He's left the others behind.
00:18:44He's going to win the Run Happy Travers.
00:18:46He's everything you would look for in a horse.
00:18:52The TDN Writers Room is brought to you by Coolmore.
00:18:54Ashford Sire Munnings had a huge weekend on Saturday.
00:18:57His son, Scaramouche, got his third straight victory in the Grade 2 Gallant Bob Stakes at Parks.
00:19:02Then Kamari.
00:19:03Very impressive.
00:19:04Got her second straight Grade 2 win in the Gallant Bloom.
00:19:07Became the newest millionaire for Munnings.
00:19:09Her next start will be in the Breeders' Cup Philly and Marist Sprint.
00:19:11She's got a big figure for that race too, I think.
00:19:13She's got to be one of the top choices in the Philly and Marist Sprint.
00:19:16Especially now that John's best friend, Gameen, has been retired.
00:19:19Munnings already has 13 stakes winners this year.
00:19:21Which is second only to Mischief.
00:19:23So he just keeps chugging along and producing top-class horses.
00:19:26Not to be forgotten, at Churchill last week, Moe's Treasure became the latest winner for his sire.
00:19:31Rather, for Motown.
00:19:33Son of Uncle Moe.
00:19:34Who is now the sire of nine winners in his first crop.
00:19:36And stands at Ashford for $7,500.
00:19:40So this was big news on Saturday.
00:19:42Didn't quite overshadow the news on the racetrack because the performance was so good.
00:19:46But Bill Finley tweeted this during the day.
00:19:48Got a lot of traction that there was a raid.
00:19:51It was not a raid, but there were a lot of security checkpoints.
00:19:55Checking cars and trucks and vans that were coming into the track.
00:19:59And discovered, supposedly, some contraband.
00:20:01Bill, why don't you tell us more?
00:20:03Yeah, well, we've talked about this before, Joe.
00:20:05I mean, the Pennsylvania Racing Commission, I would have told you two years ago, was the worst racing commission in the country.
00:20:09They didn't care.
00:20:10They didn't do anything.
00:20:11I don't know what's gotten lit in a fire in there.
00:20:13But they are kicking ass and taking names.
00:20:15And we've talked about a lot of stuff that they've done.
00:20:17On Saturday, I was getting more text out of Parks about the raids.
00:20:21And they got this guy.
00:20:22And they busted this guy.
00:20:23Then people were talking about TABA and society in there.
00:20:26So what happened?
00:20:28And the details didn't really come out until yesterday and earlier this morning.
00:20:33I knew the names, but I couldn't.
00:20:35I wasn't afraid to go out and mention them without 100% confirmation.
00:20:40But what happened was, at Parks, over the Friday before the Pennsylvania Derby, they conducted some backstretch raids.
00:20:49And they also checked cars going in and out of the backstretch.
00:20:52That's something they've done in the past.
00:20:54Remember, they did out-of-competition testing.
00:20:57They caught a trainer with clonbuterol.
00:20:58They did a backstretch search of that barn.
00:21:01They did the searches of the people coming in and out of the backstretch last year, caught a trainer.
00:21:07It's not Parks.
00:21:08It's the Pennsylvania Racing Commission.
00:21:10And what they found was they found two trainers, one by the name of Miguel Penaloza and another one by the name of Cesar Marquez.
00:21:17Both were in possession of needles and syringes.
00:21:20And they found a jockey by the name of Edwin Rivera in possession of a battery.
00:21:24I've got a lot of thoughts about this, but I want to throw it to you guys.
00:21:27But one thing that I wanted to say, one of the things that's most amazing about this is you'd say the trainers.
00:21:32Okay, they caught two guys that are winning 30%, right?
00:21:35They caught, you know, the guys that we think are the bad guys that are juicing all the time.
00:21:40This guy Marquez is a 4% trainer and he was cheating or allegedly cheating.
00:21:47What does that say about what the heck is going on in the backstretch?
00:21:51And the other guy, Penaloza, was a 12 or 13% trainer, something like that.
00:21:55So that was one of the things that struck me when I said, really, these guys, these are the guys that are getting caught.
00:22:02You know, so that's one of the many thoughts I have about it.
00:22:04But yeah, you know, you know, fortunately, it didn't overshadow the Pennsylvania Derby.
00:22:09That would have been unfair.
00:22:10But here we go again, you know, on what is supposed to be a really special weekend at Parks.
00:22:15And it was because the racing was great.
00:22:18You still have this sordid story that, you know, just is, you know, this just goes on and on and on in horse racing.
00:22:26But I will say this about the Pennsylvania Racing Commission.
00:22:28You know, good on them.
00:22:30You know, here's a racing commission that is not afraid of bad headlines for the sport and is clearly trying to do something to clean up a situation that needs to be cleaned up.
00:22:39Basically, that's that's all I can simply say.
00:22:43Good for them.
00:22:44It's the biggest weekend of racing.
00:22:47They started on the 19th.
00:22:49They caught these guys the day before the Pennsylvania Derby.
00:22:52If anything, it's a big thumbs up that they got these guys.
00:22:56And these guys are so stupid.
00:22:58I mean, I heard word on the 20th that they were going in there.
00:23:03Now, backstretch talk goes very, very quickly.
00:23:06Bad news travels fast.
00:23:07So there's whispers.
00:23:09And usually where there's smoke, there's fire.
00:23:11These guys are so stupid that they didn't realize on the biggest weekend of racing at parks that something may be getting done.
00:23:20So good for parks and good for them, because many years ago and actually not too many years ago, what happened at parks generally stayed at parks.
00:23:28So kudos to the Racing Commission and everybody there for trying to clean up this sport.
00:23:33Every single little bit counts.
00:23:36Well done.
00:23:37Yeah.
00:23:38And well, and why this should be happening everywhere, everywhere, every, you know, as much as humanly possible.
00:23:44This kind of surveillance should be happening everywhere, because that's the easiest way, relatively speaking, to catch cheaters.
00:23:51And like Bill was saying, I think that the story here is the Pennsylvania Racing Commission and the powers that be of Pennsylvania taking this seriously finally and being willing to sacrifice some bad headlines in the short term for getting the dirty stuff out of the sport in the long term.
00:24:06And I think that that's, you know, I think back to the FBI indictments that dropped almost two and a half, a year and a half ago now.
00:24:13Two and a half years ago.
00:24:15Was it?
00:24:16Yeah.
00:24:17Wow.
00:24:18Time flies.
00:24:19A lot of episodes of the show.
00:24:21But yeah, that was a day where I knew that there were going to be a lot of really nasty headlines and articles written about that.
00:24:29But I was happy because now we're finally taking out the trash.
00:24:32And that's what needs to happen.
00:24:33It's like you can't just let these guys slide and then hope that it doesn't bubble up and become a public story at some point.
00:24:39You have to stop these problems at the root and you have to stop them before they're able to cheat and to juice horses, allegedly.
00:24:46And I think that the battery thing was really interesting, too, because it's not it wasn't just the trainers.
00:24:50It was a jockey who was allegedly in possession of a battery, which is the kind of thing that should be a lifetime ban in racing.
00:24:57And I think you can feel two ways about it.
00:24:59You can feel grossed out that this stuff is still going on.
00:25:01But you can also feel happy and enthused that there are some people and some cops on the beat now who are willing to take a stand and willing to crack some skulls and do something to stop the problem.
00:25:12Because that's been our biggest lament, I think, throughout this show.
00:25:15You know, when when guys would know known cheaters would pop up at different tracks and just get chance after chance after chance.
00:25:22And it just felt like you're just shouting into the wind and that nobody is actually stepping up to do something about it.
00:25:27Now, at least it seems in Pennsylvania, there are people that are doing something about it.
00:25:32And honestly, I think that not to not to give us too much credit, I think this show has helped.
00:25:37And I think a lot of a lot of racing Twitter has helped because it has been an accountability and a raised level of accountability in racing the last couple of years,
00:25:45especially since the Santa Anita deaths and the FBI indictments to where now I think that people in racing have finally gotten the message that we need to be proactive about this stuff.
00:25:54We can't wait until this stuff leaks and becomes a giant national story, because then we all have egg on our faces.
00:25:59This is the way to root out the evil in this sport.
00:26:02And, you know, I'm with Zoe applause to the Pennsylvania Racing Commission, the people at parks who were not scared of the negative headlines and instead just did the right thing.
00:26:11Joe, a lot of points here. I want to talk about several different things.
00:26:15You're absolutely right about this. If the Pennsylvania Racing Commission can do this, why can't everybody?
00:26:21And when's the last time you heard about the New York Gaming Commission doing anything so far as a barn search or out of competition testing?
00:26:28I mean, they're unless they've done stuff and they haven't told anybody about it.
00:26:32And I don't understand why that would be. You know, there's a lot of racing commissions out there that do absolutely nothing.
00:26:38And they sit back and they think that they can catch people and they can police the game through standard drug testing.
00:26:44It's been proven over the years from the days of the beginning of the time with Oscar Barrera was winning, you know, improving horses, 50 buyer points.
00:26:51If there were buyer points back then running them back three days after he claimed them for twelve thousand five hundred.
00:26:56You know, the standard drug testing doesn't catch anybody with anything other than overages of therapeutic medications.
00:27:03Yes, you have to do it, but it's not going to catch anybody.
00:27:06So, number one, like you said, why can't other racing commissions do this?
00:27:10Number two, it's also interesting and we didn't mention they did the same searches and raids at parks and pressed isle as well.
00:27:16Apparently they came up with nothing there.
00:27:18So, you know, I guess that shines a good light on those racetracks that they couldn't find anything there.
00:27:23And I also wonder where Hissa fits in in this.
00:27:26And, you know, what is going to happen when they take over?
00:27:29I assume that the Pennsylvania Racing Commissions of the world will succeed this role to Hissa.
00:27:36I got to tell you something.
00:27:37If I'm Lisa Lazarus, I called the Pennsylvania Racing Commission.
00:27:39Say what you guys are doing a better job than we ever could.
00:27:42We're going to worry about the other forty nine states.
00:27:44You guys keep kicking some butt there in Pennsylvania.
00:27:47But again, it's it's just it's an astounding story.
00:27:53But it's not an astounding story because, you know, you just know that this stuff is going on.
00:27:57You still don't know the extent of it.
00:27:59And I still can't get over the fact that a four percent trainer was apparently cheating.
00:28:03He must have been the worst cheater in the world.
00:28:05How bad would he have been if he wasn't cheating?
00:28:09Allegedly cheating.
00:28:10When I read those stats, that's exactly my thought.
00:28:13I'm like, how bad is this guy?
00:28:15I mean, I don't know what was in those syringes, but whatever it was, I don't know.
00:28:19Like, how bad was he?
00:28:21Obviously not very smart.
00:28:23Maybe he had nothing there but, you know, vitamin C or something.
00:28:26Who knows?
00:28:27No, but I mean, Bill brings up a good point about, you know, whether or not when the Heisa drug enforcement program allegedly potentially goes into effect January 1st,
00:28:372023, we'll see if it actually happens.
00:28:39Will they cede at all to these racing commissions who are doing a good job?
00:28:43Because it's a it's going to be a massive, massive undertaking to oversee all the drug enforcement for the entire sport.
00:28:50And I think they would be smart to form partnerships with partners who are actually doing the right thing.
00:28:56I think there are a lot of people that they should, you know, kick the hell out of racing commissions and say we're taking charge and we're going to be in charge of the drug enforcement.
00:29:04But if Pennsylvania Racing Commission and the people who run these tracks are doing the job, just work hand in hand with them.
00:29:10I think that's the way to go.
00:29:12The TDN Writer's Room is brought to you by the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association and the Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders.
00:29:17Kentucky bred swept the grade ones.
00:29:19This is like a recording.
00:29:21They should just play me saying Kentucky bred swept the grade ones every single week.
00:29:25They swept the grade ones at parks on Saturday with Teba winning the grade one Pennsylvania Derby and Society taking the grade one cotillion stakes.
00:29:32You can find your Kentucky bred at the OBS October sale, October 11th through 12th and the Fasig-Tifton, Kentucky, October yearling sale, October 24th through the 27th.
00:29:42We'll be right back after this message from the KTOB.
00:29:46With some of the fullest fields in the country and quality racing year-round, there's never been a better time to reap the rewards of breeding and racing in Kentucky.
00:29:57Purse money in Kentucky is at an all-time high, as is average purse per race, outpacing California, Florida, and New York.
00:30:06Kentucky breds. Breed them. Raise them. Race them.
00:30:11We all win.
00:30:15Xcelerate, a five-time grade one winner with over $6 million in earnings.
00:30:20In 2018 alone, he won the Santa Anita Handicap, the Gold Cup, the Pacific Classic by a record-setting 12.5 lengths, the Awesome Again, and bested a world-class field in the Breeders' Cup Classic.
00:30:35A grandson of legendary Lane's End Stallion SmartStrike, Xcelerate stands to continue his grandsire's legacy at Lane's End.
00:30:46The TDN Writers Room is brought to you by Lane's End.
00:30:48This week's Lane's End Stallion of the Week is The Factor.
00:30:51The son of Warfront's top performers include grade one winners Sistron and Noted and Quoted, along with graded stakes winners Bound for Nowhere and Factor This.
00:30:59He's a top-20 general active North American sire, and he stands for $17,500, the star-studded roster at Lane's End.
00:31:07Earlier, we spoke to Jimmy George, who's the Tattersalls director.
00:31:12I think because Zoe's on, we had to bring in a fellow British person just to make her feel at home on our first episode.
00:31:19But no, we talked to Tattersalls director Jimmy George, who's a really smart guy and who's getting prepared for the Tattersalls October yearling sale,
00:31:26which, if you're an American-centric guy like me, you need me to draw the parallel, is like the Keighlan September sale in Europe.
00:31:32Obviously, it's a great opportunity for buyers.
00:31:35We've seen more American participation over the years, and we had a great conversation with Jimmy.
00:31:40Check it out.
00:31:41The Green Group Guest of the Week is sponsored by The Green Group, an accounting, tax, consulting, and advisory firm specializing in the thoroughbred industry.
00:31:48With over 500 clients in the horse business, they have proven strategies to save you taxes.
00:31:52Learn more about how they can help you at www.greenco.com.
00:31:57We're thrilled to welcome on.
00:31:58We've been wanting to have this guy on for a while, Tattersalls director Jimmy George.
00:32:01Thanks for coming on.
00:32:03Good to be here, guys.
00:32:04Great to join you.
00:32:05Great to have you.
00:32:06Obviously, the Tattersalls October sale is coming up, premier yearling sale in Europe.
00:32:11I wanted to ask about the American participation, the increasing American participation at that sale, because that's something we've seen in the opposite direction.
00:32:18We've seen international participation here at Keighlan September and some other sales.
00:32:23What has that meant to the Tattersalls sale to have more and more participation from across the pond?
00:32:28Yeah, look, it's had a huge impact on book one in particular of the October yearling sale at Tattersalls.
00:32:34In the last sort of five, six years, really, it started sort of with a little bit of a trickle, may not be quite the right word.
00:32:43It was the sort of Chad Brown, Mike and Mary Ryan, Peter Brandt, Seth Klarman, Axis, and they came a few years back with a bit of a plan.
00:32:52They bought a dozen yearlings, and at least two of them turned out to be grade one winners, possibly even three.
00:32:58My memory is getting so bad these days.
00:33:00But when you get off to a start like that, it sort of encourages you to come back bigger and better.
00:33:05And those guys came back and they were followed by some others like Liz Crow and Bradley Weisbord, who went home with Aunt Pearl.
00:33:13So, you know, every time these guys come, they go home with some really smart horses.
00:33:18And that encourages more people to come and makes my job easy.
00:33:22Jimmy, thanks for joining us.
00:33:24You sort of touched on my next question, but I mean, the number of Tattersalls grads that have won big races in the US this year is just the list goes on.
00:33:31You mentioned Aunt Pearl, you've got McCulloch, you have Ocean Road, you have Technical Analysis, Campanell.
00:33:38How is this affecting the sale?
00:33:40Are people now, has this opened people's eyes to what they can acquire by going over to your sale and going overseas?
00:33:46I think it has, Bill.
00:33:48I think it's really made them realize that and with no disrespect to anybody else's breeding programs, as it were,
00:33:57or the strength and depth of their own breeding operations, the best turf stallions are standing in Europe, really.
00:34:04And the best ones that are readily accessible, maybe Japan is a little bit of an outlier in that respect.
00:34:12But, you know, the most easily accessible top class turf yearlings in the world are to be found in Europe.
00:34:19And the best of the best are one of the October yearling sale.
00:34:22And I think, yeah, the success the guys had from the word go did exactly that.
00:34:27It opened people's eyes.
00:34:29It made them realize that it wasn't just the Galileo show.
00:34:33You know, there was Dubawi and Frankel ready to step into his shoes.
00:34:37You've got Kingman.
00:34:38You've got Lope de Vega.
00:34:39You've got See the Stars and obviously the Sire of Baid this year and a superstar stallion in his own right.
00:34:45The Kodiaks and Dark Angels of this world.
00:34:48The depth of the size at the moment in Britain, Ireland and France is possibly unprecedented.
00:34:54And combine that with some fantastic broodmare bands in the commercial breeders hands,
00:34:59and you've got a pretty compelling mix of one of the October yearling sale.
00:35:03Jimmy, Zoe here, really, really looking forward to the October sale.
00:35:07And I have a lot of friends that recently got on planes to Orby and Goffs,
00:35:12and now they're coming over to England.
00:35:14And the thing they've really been buoyed about is the exchange rate.
00:35:17You're basically trading dollars for pounds.
00:35:19I mean, you guys have to be rubbing your hands together with the Americans coming over with fistfuls of cash.
00:35:26Yeah, Zoe, it's not quite buy one, get one free, but it's very near.
00:35:32I mean, honestly, the weakness of the pound, it's a little bit alarming in some senses to anybody who actually lives here.
00:35:41But for anybody trading in US dollars, we are you know,
00:35:45they will come to book one of the October yearling sale next week and be buying the same quality of horse for 20,
00:35:5125 percent less than they were paying last year.
00:35:54That is a massive discount.
00:35:56I mean, this is you know, this is an unprecedented opportunity for anybody who wants to race turf horses of the highest quality in North America,
00:36:05because I look I'm knocking on a bit now and the dollar is stronger than it ever has been against the pound in my lifetime or the lifetime of anybody on this program tonight.
00:36:16So all I can say is, you know, take advantage.
00:36:20It probably won't be like this for a very long time.
00:36:22At least I guess I hope not from the UK perspective.
00:36:26But it is. Yeah, it's a huge factor.
00:36:28And it's not just against the US dollar that the pound is weak.
00:36:32It's it's weak against an awful lot of other international currencies.
00:36:35And I'm sure that won't go unnoticed.
00:36:38You know, we're having a real resurgence of the yearling sale market going on right here in the US.
00:36:42Keen on September's smashed records earlier in the year, the basic Saratoga sale smashed records.
00:36:47I think a lot of people are attributing that to the fact that everyone's back.
00:36:50And you guys had to adapt during Covid, had a lot of more online bidding options.
00:36:54Can you talk about how Tadros has navigated the pandemic and whether or not you feel that same vibe of excitement that everybody can come and be part of the sale in person?
00:37:03Yeah, I think that all of our all of the sales companies have hugely enjoyed.
00:37:09Well, look, the whole world's enjoyed moving on from the Covid pandemic.
00:37:14That goes without saying. But why are we still on Zoom?
00:37:18Actually, I should be with you guys.
00:37:21But to have people back at the sales grounds in the numbers they have all throughout this year at Tadros and clearly everywhere else and certainly in the northern hemisphere.
00:37:31Well, look in Australia and New Zealand as well, they've had hugely vibrant sales.
00:37:35It's wonderful. It's great to see. There's clearly an appetite.
00:37:39You sort of get the impression, maybe a little bit of pent up enthusiasm after the two grisly years of Covid.
00:37:47You know, there are economic challenges out there. Make no mistake.
00:37:50But the demand for quality thoroughbreds has possibly surprised a lot of us.
00:37:55And long may it last. And, you know, we have challenges other than, you know, economic in British and Irish racing in terms of prize money.
00:38:04It's not quite at the levels that we'd like it to be or where yours is or certainly other parts of the world.
00:38:12But there is a massive enthusiasm for our wonderful sport.
00:38:15And I think we're seeing that in sales rings at Tadros and throughout the world.
00:38:21Jimmy, in addition to the pound versus dollar in the currency exchange, I've had people that have shot the Tadros.
00:38:27Tell me it's you don't have to spend as much to get a really good horse.
00:38:31And, you know, in this day and age, when Chad Brown goes over and spends two hundred thousand pounds or so on some of these horses.
00:38:38Well, the two hundred thousand pounds is a lot of money.
00:38:40But when you compare it to Keeneland, where people are spending a million, million five to get the very top end horses, are these people right?
00:38:47Is it easier to find a good horse for less money at Tadros and it might be at the US sales?
00:38:54I think they have honed in on a on a sector of the market that they're very, very comfortable at.
00:39:02And they they've come with a plan and and a budget that works incredibly well at one of the October yearlings.
00:39:11So the very top of our market, I think, has always been extremely robust and, you know,
00:39:17dominated by some some obvious superpowers that have been with us all and with with the sport globally for a very long time.
00:39:25And they're you know, they they're pretty dominant at times.
00:39:28They're joined by plenty of others over the years.
00:39:32But, you know, the the MacToon family in the Coolmore axis, they they have dominated the top of the European market,
00:39:39the global yearling market in many respects for a long, long time.
00:39:43But I think what's key for the American buyers is they have found a comfort zone in and around, as you say, Bill,
00:39:49that two hundred to four hundred thousand guinea mark, which in a normal year,
00:39:55that's two to four hundred thousand dollars this year.
00:39:58But but in a normal year would have been two fifty three hundred dollars to six,
00:40:03six fifty somewhere around that mark. And they have been hugely successful.
00:40:08And, yeah, if they're finding value in that sector of the market compared with in their in their own backyard,
00:40:13that's great for us because, you know, they're they're adding depth to our market in that sector.
00:40:19And as you say, it's extraordinary what they have gone home with in in that price bracket.
00:40:25You know, newspaper record, if I remember correctly, was two hundred thousand.
00:40:30McCulloch this year, one hundred and eighty thousand guineas in Italian, a little bit of an outlier.
00:40:35She was she was actually over four hundred thousand guineas.
00:40:38But Campanella was under two hundred thousand guineas.
00:40:41You know, it's remarkable what these guys are finding in that.
00:40:45So, you know, as you say, Bill, it is a lot of money,
00:40:48but in relative terms for the quality they're finding consistently, it's really good value.
00:40:55And they've they've yeah, they're comfortable there and they're successful.
00:40:59Jimmy, talk to us about the kind of horses you think that the American clientele are after,
00:41:06because, I mean, I briefly zipped through the catalog and hit number one is a filly by Galileo,
00:41:12who's a half sister to a Breeders' Cup horse in line of duty.
00:41:15Do you think this is what the Americans are seeking or is there other value a little bit further deeper in the catalog and say books three, two and three as well?
00:41:25Yeah, it's quite nice to start up any any elite yearling sale with a Galileo half sister to a Breeders' Cup winner.
00:41:33It really is. It sets the tone for for book one, which look, I sound like a broken record, but it is Europe's premier yearling sale.
00:41:42These are the best feelings out there. But yeah, I mean, book two is to a degree slightly.
00:41:52It hasn't been mined quite as deeply by the US buyers to date.
00:41:57We would love there will be some that will stay on through to book two, I think, this year.
00:42:02And they will find some very, very smart yearlings there as well.
00:42:07Honestly speaking, I think, you know, if you're aiming for the very top for the future grade one winners,
00:42:14you are probably best advised starting in what purports to be the premier yearling sale of its type.
00:42:20Same at Keeneland with book one there or same at Inglis for the Easter yearling sale, something like that.
00:42:25So, you know, you start at the top and work your way down.
00:42:28This year's Derby winner, Desert Crown, he's an unbeaten Derby winner and an absolutely outstanding one,
00:42:34I think, even though we haven't seen him since. But yeah, he came from book two.
00:42:39He cost two hundred and eighty thousand guineas. So he was at the top end of that market.
00:42:43But he came from book two. And even this weekend, we had two to one, definitely grade one winner,
00:42:51group one winner, obviously, as we call them. And I think group two winner came from book three.
00:42:56So look, the quality permeates all the way through the October yearling sale.
00:43:02And we've got the thick end of two thousand of them.
00:43:04But for people traveling from as far away as North America or from Japan or Hong Kong or Australia,
00:43:12they're probably going to hone in on book one to start with and see how they go.
00:43:15And if there's money to be spent afterwards, there's plenty left.
00:43:20Last question for me, Jimmy. You know, I know you're a sales guy,
00:43:23but you mentioned before about the increased purse money that is maybe being maybe a benefit to people like you who run sales.
00:43:29It's not quite as much as it is in North America, especially here and here and here.
00:43:33But Kentucky has this exploding purse money that I think is really helping the sales market.
00:43:38Can you tell some of the listeners who may not be tuned in to European racing on a day to day basis?
00:43:43What what the health of the racing side is like?
00:43:46Because, you know, I've heard for a long time that it's a little bit polarized, like the purses at the top level are great.
00:43:51But on a day to day basis, it's a little bit tough to get by.
00:43:54So what is your analysis and your assessment of what that's like right now?
00:43:57Yeah, I think you've hit the nail on the head there, Joe.
00:44:00It's our prize money is competitive when you get to the graded stakes level.
00:44:07Make no mistake. OK, look, it's not it's not in the same stratosphere as Japan or, you know,
00:44:13the upper the upper levels in Hong Kong or something like that.
00:44:16But they are outliers. But it's fair to say that it's not fair.
00:44:21It's true to say that the most valuable race run in Europe or North America in the last three months was in England.
00:44:31So that was the King George at one and a quarter million.
00:44:34It wasn't at Saratoga. It wasn't at Delmar.
00:44:37It wasn't anywhere else in North America or anywhere else in Europe.
00:44:40It was in England that, you know.
00:44:42Yeah, of course, we'd like some more money in some of our graded stakes group races and listed races as well.
00:44:49But the real issue is at maiden level or just above that.
00:44:54The entry level prize money is poor.
00:44:57There's no dressing it up. You know, I'd be, you know, I'd be taking trying to take people for fools if I pretended otherwise.
00:45:05It is poor. So that's the area we need attention from the powers that be.
00:45:10That's where we need an injection of money.
00:45:13I mean, from the Tarasov's perspective, we introduced what we imaginatively called the book one bonus scheme a few years ago for book one yearlings,
00:45:24where we we give twenty thousand pounds extra in prize money to any British or Irish winner of a maiden or novice race there.
00:45:33They're effectively maidens of a certain level.
00:45:36And that has been, as you can imagine, when you're normally competing for somewhere between three and a half and five and a half thousand pounds in win prize money when you win your mate.
00:45:48If you lob in an extra 20, that makes a massive difference.
00:45:51And near as damn it means that that person has paid their training fees for a year with their maiden win.
00:45:59So that's that's our stance.
00:46:01We truly believe that that's where prize money should be heading in this country.
00:46:05And look, the powers that be, I'm sure share that view.
00:46:09They just haven't come up with the answer and fervently hope they do pretty soon, because obviously the sport, you know, in its wider sense will will benefit enormously.
00:46:20Jimmy, one of the interesting things about any yearling sale is how the first crop stallions are going to do.
00:46:25Can you give us some of the names of the new faces, new kids on the block?
00:46:28And who are people getting excited about?
00:46:31Yeah, I hate it when people ask that question, because my aging sludge like brain needs a little who are the first season size?
00:46:41What are we? Oh, God.
00:46:43But so I'm going to have to take my little my little crib sheet, which is the catalog here.
00:46:50And immediately I get to Blue Point, who is, you know, a young son of Shamadao.
00:46:55So his first crop of yearlings.
00:46:57He's an exciting young sire.
00:46:59He really is.
00:47:00We've got a fair few of those.
00:47:01Forgive me as I take my as I take my crib sheet here.
00:47:05But the they've been pretty well received so far.
00:47:09You've got it.
00:47:10We've got a couple by land force who's a who's a young horse.
00:47:15Well, obviously, he's got his first crop.
00:47:17And, yeah, he's a half brother to a filly called Photo Call, who won the Rodeo Drive a few years ago in the States.
00:47:25It'd be interesting to see how they're received.
00:47:27Magna Grisha, obviously the Guineas winner.
00:47:30Invincible Spirit Horse.
00:47:32The early signs of the have been that they're going to be very well received.
00:47:36And Massar, the Derby winner of a few years back.
00:47:39He's got his sort of it feels like a slightly belated first crop.
00:47:43But again, they've been well received.
00:47:45If if I were to put my finger, I mean, it's always dangerous when you work for a sales company to highlight any particular stallion.
00:47:53But I guess, you know, study of man's very interesting as a son of deep impact.
00:47:58When the French Derby Saxon Warrior, obviously another son of deep impact.
00:48:02He's getting off to a good start over here at the moment with his first crop of two year olds.
00:48:07And there seems to be a bit of buzz about too darn hot, who obviously was a very, very good two year old in his own right.
00:48:16And then went on to be, you know, obviously a group one winning three year old as well.
00:48:20Very, very well bred horse.
00:48:24Son of Dubawi. And that says it all at the moment, because there's so many young sons of Dubawi that are doing incredibly well.
00:48:31Some of whom have started from relatively humble origins and have worked their way up.
00:48:36So there's there's quite a lot of excitement about him, too.
00:48:39So we've got yeah, we've got some nice young size coming through to go with go with the the Uber size that are well established by now.
00:48:47Is it a little bittersweet to get to the end of Galileo because you still have a bunch catalog, but it's almost like the end of an era?
00:48:56Yeah, it's I mean, how do you replace the irreplaceable?
00:49:00He's he's just, you know, he's a once in a lifetime sire or certainly once in my lifetime.
00:49:08But we've got 16 very smart Galileo yearlings in book one this year.
00:49:13And I'd expect them to be very eagerly sought after.
00:49:18But I think it is a reflection of the quality of the stallions that have come through in his
00:49:26in his wake that we've almost not taken a beat.
00:49:30You know, it's Galileo is gone, but there's Frankl and there's Dubawi and there's Kingman and there's see the stars.
00:49:37And, you know, these are extraordinary stallions in their own right.
00:49:41So to be able to move on from arguably the best stallion of my lifetime and certainly standing in standing in Europe with to move on to the horses of the caliber of Frankl
00:49:55Dubawi and see the stars and Kingman is extraordinary.
00:49:59And we're very, very lucky. I mean, Frankl achieved 100.
00:50:06I think it's group enlisted winners, not just not not group winners in double quick time as quick.
00:50:12I think he equaled actually Danehill in terms of the quickest stallion ever to achieve that milestone.
00:50:19But let's not forget that Danehill was standing in two hemispheres.
00:50:24You know, this horse is only ever and only ever will stand in the northern hemisphere.
00:50:29And he reached that milestone the same time that Danehill did. It's quite bizarre.
00:50:34You know, so we're very lucky. And again, I think that the US buyers that are coming over here, they've readily identified that.
00:50:42And obviously McCulloch is flying the flag for Frankl and put one at the very highest level in, you know, in the States this year.
00:50:51And I hope that they'll go home with a few more of them.
00:50:54Absolutely. We expect the participation to be robust.
00:50:58Tattersalls October yearling sale runs from October 4th through October 15th.
00:51:02Starts with a three day book one, October 4th through the 6th. Definitely get involved.
00:51:07Jimmy George, thanks so much for coming on the show. It's been a pleasure.
00:51:10I'd love to do it again if you'll have me. Thank you, Jimmy. Thanks, Jimmy.
00:51:14Thanks, Jimmy. All the best. Thanks, guys.

00:52:41The TDN Writer's Room is brought to you by XBTV.
00:52:43This week's XBTV Workout of the Week features Brand, who went four furlongs and 48 flat on Friday at Santa Anita.
00:52:49John Sadler, trainee, was last seen taking the grade two turf sprint stakes at Kentucky Downs,
00:52:54which is a win in your end for the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint.
00:52:57You can see that work on the screen right now.
00:52:59Definitely a low key contender for the turf sprint.
00:53:02I never, never throw out those California turf sprinters.
00:53:05And we have a Californian and an XBTV worker here.
00:53:08Zoe Cadman, can you talk a little bit about XBTV and the work you guys do?
00:53:13Yeah, basically, as you can see on the screen, this is Brand working.
00:53:17And we try and catch probably the best of the rest each and every week.
00:53:21And it's just a very unique tool that I have a lot of friends that are gamblers that look at.
00:53:28Because if you know what you're looking at, it's huge.
00:53:31And the beauty about XBTV is you can see Brand on the screen now,
00:53:35but you can also go back to six months ago and see how we looked then,
00:53:39which is a very unique tool you're not going to find anywhere else.
00:53:43Especially with first-time starters, you can see how they look leading up to the race,
00:53:47how they looked six months ago.
00:53:49You can go back and look at Justify before he ever ran if you really, really want to.
00:53:53So it really is a unique tool.
00:53:56It's free, which still boggles me each and every day.
00:53:59You just have to sign up at expressbet.com and just get an account.
00:54:04It doesn't cost you any money and just go there.
00:54:07You can search for pretty much every horse.
00:54:09We don't have every horse on there, but I spent all summer in Saratoga
00:54:13getting an awful lot of maidens that won first time out and courtesy of XBTV.
00:54:20It's a unique tool.
00:54:22It's a great, great resource, as I say, week after week.
00:54:25And yeah, get involved before they realize they can start charging.
00:54:28Yeah, right?
00:54:31This week's Weekend Preview, as always, is sponsored by Three Chimneys.
00:54:36I felt like we did a Three Chimneys commercial earlier in the show,
00:54:39but we were just talking about Gunrunner and how great he is.
00:54:41So I guess there's probably a little bit more of that coming up.
00:54:43We have a huge weekend.
00:54:45This and next weekend are the last two major prep weekends for the Breeders' Cup.
00:54:50It kind of reminds me of late March, early April when you have all those derby preps coming together.
00:54:55So we have 12 Breeders' Cup Winning Year End Races.
00:54:59Big weekend at Aqueduct and Churchill especially.
00:55:02We also have the ARC this weekend, and we're going to talk about that
00:55:05after we come back from the break.
00:55:08But at Belmont this weekend, we have the Champagne, which is a Grade 1,
00:55:11the Miss Grille, which is a Grade 2, the Woodward, which is a Grade 1,
00:55:14the Belmont Turf Sprint Championship, which is a Grade 3.
00:55:17And that's just Saturday.
00:55:18Sunday, we've got the Grade 1 Frisette, the Grade 2 Pilgrim Stakes,
00:55:22and the Grade 3 Fasig-Tipton Wyah Stakes.
00:55:25At Santa Anita on Saturday, we've got the Grade 1.
00:55:27Awesome again.
00:55:28But let's start with Belmont.
00:55:30The Champagne and the Frisette I think are both going to be pretty interesting races.
00:55:34The Champagne, I think we're going to get a couple of the top horses
00:55:37from the Hopeful coming back in Forte.
00:55:40And Gulfport, Gulfport needs a little bit of a rebound as well.
00:55:43In the Woodward, we're going to see Life is Good.
00:55:46He's obviously appointment viewing.
00:55:48Very unclear who's actually going to show up against him
00:55:50other than a Uriah St. Louis horse.
00:55:52But we're always, always interested in seeing him.
00:55:55And then on Sunday, I think the Frisette is going to be a really interesting race.
00:55:58One horse I'm looking at for that, which is a horse I made a rising star at the TDN,
00:56:03was the Great Maybe.
00:56:04It was a Cherie DeVoe horse by Upstart.
00:56:06She was an incredibly impressive winner first time out.
00:56:10Then you've got American Rockette, who I think is sneaky for Belmont.
00:56:13She was fourth in the spinaway but got off to a terrible, terrible start
00:56:17and came flying late.
00:56:18Chocolate Gelato was a nice horse for Todd Pletcher and Rapali Stable.
00:56:22Also have some action at Churchill.
00:56:24Bill, what are you looking forward to on Saturday?
00:56:26Well, I guess I'm looking forward to Life is Good,
00:56:29but maybe not so much because he's running against Tomato Cans.
00:56:32Yes.
00:56:33Right now, it looks like there's going to be either a four or five horse field,
00:56:36including our friend Uriah St. Louis with Informative.
00:56:39Keep me in mind.
00:56:41Let's see.
00:56:43I can't even read my scribbly handwriting there,
00:56:45so forget about that.
00:56:47We're looking possibly at a one to nine favorite in this race.
00:56:50I don't know what we're going to learn about him.
00:56:53One thing that I want to learn about him is to still,
00:56:56I'm not convinced he wants a mile and a quarter,
00:56:59but what is this race going to tell you when he's running at a mile and eighth
00:57:03against basically horses that he's going to pull a flight line on
00:57:07and win by 19 and a quarter lengths?
00:57:09Exactly.
00:57:12One of the reasons why the field came up fairly weak is that I think there are
00:57:15people ducking him to go to the Lucas Classic,
00:57:18which is a $500,000 race at Churchill Downs.
00:57:21This field came up.
00:57:23It doesn't have Life is Good, but top to bottom,
00:57:26it's a much stronger race.
00:57:27You have Rich Strike trying to catch lightning in a bottle again on the track
00:57:31where he won the Kentucky Derby,
00:57:32first time he's going to take on older horses.
00:57:34Hot Rod Charlie,
00:57:35happy saver and art collector among the field that is lining up for that race.
00:57:40That'll be the better race of the two, but again,
00:57:43right now it's the battle to see who's going to be the second choice in the
00:57:46Breeders' Cup Classic.
00:57:47If Flightline wins the Woodward,
00:57:50obviously he'll be the second choice in the wagering in the Classic,
00:57:53and most people will give him the best chance of any to beat Flightline,
00:57:56but we'll see.
00:57:58Again, I don't know what Naira's supposed to do.
00:58:01They put up a big race and a big purse,
00:58:03and if people are going to run away from Life is Good, so be it,
00:58:06but I just don't know what we're going to find out about this horse
00:58:09and what he's going to prove.
00:58:10I mean, I would be shocked.
00:58:11I mean, I literally think he'll be one to nine in there.
00:58:13I mean, he's got to pay,
00:58:14the kind of field that he's lining up against,
00:58:16he's a horse that's going to pay 220 in that race.
00:58:18So I guess I'm looking more forward to the Lucas Classic because it's a
00:58:22deeper race with, you know, more competitive race.
00:58:24But again,
00:58:25I think sometimes we forget how good Life is Good is.
00:58:28If it weren't for Flightline, take another drink,
00:58:31he would be the horse who would be raving about right now,
00:58:34the horse, the obvious horse of the year, et cetera.
00:58:36He's a really, really, really good horse.
00:58:38We just came around in a year with a horse that might be once in a lifetime.
00:58:41Yeah.
00:58:42And having watched Life is Good all summer at Saratoga,
00:58:45trains first thing in the morning,
00:58:47he's coming in with the ideal situation.
00:58:49They're shipping him straight from Saratoga.
00:58:51So he's not having to train at Belmont at Aqueduct or at Aqueduct because the
00:58:56training hours are all messed up down there at the moment while they redo
00:58:59Belmont Park, but he's just sensational.
00:59:02There are not many horses that give you chills when you watch him work.
00:59:07Just as effortlessly as he gets over the track.
00:59:10He's simply amazing.
00:59:11And he's proven not to have to take his track with him.
00:59:14He's going to be coming in from chilly Saratoga where he's had ideal training
00:59:18conditions, less horses there to get him riled in.
00:59:21He's a good shipper.
00:59:22So yes, I am really looking forward to Life is Good.
00:59:26As far as the Lucas Classic is, I love Art Collector.
00:59:31I think he's a horse who's just coming in at the right time.
00:59:35Belmont has done a sensational job with him,
00:59:38just inch by inch getting him back to where he needs to be.
00:59:42And I think he most definitely is the horse to beat at Churchill on Saturday.
00:59:47Thank you, Zoe, for reminding me that it's Belmont at Aqueduct.
00:59:50I keep saying Belmont just because I'm so used to these races being at Belmont.
00:59:54Belmont at Aqueduct.
00:59:55As an Aqueduct guy, I should be remembering this, but I never do.
00:59:59So two turns in the woodward, which maybe,
01:00:01maybe gives someone else a little bit of a chance more than if there were one
01:00:04turn. But yeah, I don't think there's going to be show betting.
01:00:06I don't know if there's even going to be place betting in the woodward
01:00:09because Bill's right.
01:00:10He's going to be one to nine, if not one to 20 in that race.
01:00:14But he is appointment viewing and he's great to watch.
01:00:16And like Zoe says, he's just, he gives you chills, you know, training,
01:00:20racing, all of it.
01:00:22He just is the second best horse in the country right now.
01:00:25And he's an unlucky, it was an unlucky crop year for him,
01:00:29but he's definitely one to watch.
01:00:32So yeah, after this break,
01:00:33we're going to talk a tiny bit about the arc and then we're going to talk
01:00:35about the rest of the races to look forward to including the grade one.
01:00:38Awesome. Again, that's Santa Anita,
01:00:40but the weekend preview is brought to you by Three Chimneys.
01:00:43It was an incredible day on Saturday for a gun runner with five stakes
01:00:46winners, Teba and Society plus Echo Zulu, Gunite, 63 caliber.
01:00:52Gunrunner's grade one winning son, Cyberknife, not to be outdone,
01:00:55also ran third in the Pennsylvania Derby and then running son of a gun placed
01:00:59in the Gallant Bob stakes.
01:01:00Also fellow Three Chimneys sire, Sharp Azteca,
01:01:03will be represented on Saturday by Tyler's Tribe and the Iowa Cradle Stakes
01:01:07at Prairie Meadows. Bill did a story about Tyler's Tribe.
01:01:09My horse, love that horse.
01:01:11Yeah, he's going to become the new mascot of the show with Bill as the
01:01:15host because he's, you know, that, it really is a super exciting horse.
01:01:18So we'll be interested to see him run at Prairie Meadows.
01:01:21And we've talked about his connections before.
01:01:23We'll be cheering for him as he looks for his fifth straight win.
01:01:26Straight win. We'll be right back after this message from Three Chimneys.
01:01:32Here comes Teba. Teba in the center of the track with good looking stride,
01:01:36squares off with Cyberknife. Cyberknife takes the lead. Teba going with him.
01:01:40These two in a thriller. Cyberknife just in front and Cyberknife has won the
01:01:46TBG.com Haskell over Teba. Jack Christopher finished third.
01:01:50The running time, one minute, 46.24 seconds.
01:01:57Come dream with us at Three Chimneys.
01:02:01I mentioned before the break, it's not just Belmont and, Belmont and Aqueduct, Joe.
01:02:05Belmont and Aqueduct and Churchill this weekend. It's also Santa Anita.
01:02:09They got a couple of winning year-end races highlighted by the grade one.
01:02:12Awesome again, which they probably should rename the flight line.
01:02:15Also ran stakes because we have in that race, Royal Ship, Express Train,
01:02:19Country Grammar. You had a couple other horses as well. Azul Coast, Tripoli,
01:02:23Slow Down Andy, who I teased last week as a potential Breeders' Cup mile horse
01:02:27is now going to show up in the awesome again. Let's see what else we have
01:02:30at Santa Anita over the weekend. That's a great one.
01:02:33Winning year-end for the Breeders' Cup Classic. Also the City of Hope mile,
01:02:36which is a grade two, going a mile on the turf. Eddie D. Stakes,
01:02:39which will be down the hill, six and a half furlongs, grade two.
01:02:42John Henry Turf Championship, which is a mile and a quarter.
01:02:45It's also a grade two. And the Santa Anita Sprint Championship,
01:02:48which is a grade two. And then Sunday, we have four more stakes
01:02:52at Santa Anita, including the grade three Chillingworth, the grade two Zenyatta stakes,
01:02:56and the grade three Tokyo City Cup, none of which are winning year-end races,
01:02:59but they do have a winning year-end race. The Speakeasy Stakes,
01:03:02which will be two-year-olds going five furlongs on the turf.
01:03:05They're going to obviously be qualifying for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint.
01:03:10But we also have the ARC this Sunday, and we would be remiss if we didn't get into that.
01:03:14It looks like it's going to be a gigantic field. I haven't seen any entries yet,
01:03:18but just some of the horses that I recognize as a stupid American.
01:03:22The Denny, who is a very nice horse in France. Mishref, who has obviously been a terrific horse
01:03:27for several years now. Torquator Tasso won the race at 80-1 or so last year.
01:03:32Alpinista, who's been a terrific filly this year and just looks like the top of her division.
01:03:37Westover, who is a nice horse. I believe he's a group one winner.
01:03:41But Zoe, come on. Our resident European here. What do we have to look forward to
01:03:46in the ARC and who are you honing in on?
01:03:49Well, I think we're going to have a little bit of drama leading into it because it will be a field of 20
01:03:54for betting reasons in France with France Gallup.
01:03:58So there are going to be certain fillies that may not get in the race,
01:04:03which is going to cause some outcry because you've got the Melbourne Cup winner.
01:04:06She's sitting on the outside looking in right now and they may have to rethink.
01:04:10They're still trying to think maybe they're going to have more than 20 runners.
01:04:14Urban Sea won. There were 23 runners. You can go back to the 60s and they were 60 runners,
01:04:1930 runners there. So there's a lot going on right now.
01:04:24But for me, there is just one, one filly that I love.
01:04:27And that is my old boss, Mark Prescott Alpinista.
01:04:30She's not been beat since I think September 2020.
01:04:34She's ruled stake after grade one after grade one.
01:04:38Luke Morris rides her. She doesn't have to take her ground with her.
01:04:41She's just a fantastic filly. Now Luxembourg is going to be very, very tough to beat.
01:04:46But my money is going on Alpinista. And I'll say that right here, right now for my old boss, Mark.
01:04:52Hopefully he's listening, right?
01:04:55I don't know. What time is it right now?
01:04:59She has been super impressive to me this year as well, even as a novice European racing viewer.
01:05:04But we appreciate that insight. Yeah.
01:05:06It's usually runs all about like 1030 or so Eastern time in the morning on Sundays, 730 if you're on the West Coast.
01:05:13So, yeah, definitely set an alarm for that. And it's obviously the greatest race of the year in Europe.
01:05:18So we're looking forward to that. And we're hopefully going to maybe get to see a couple of the ARC horses come for the Breeders' Cup.
01:05:22I feel like it used to be a big thing and it's become less of a thing over the years.
01:05:26But hopefully we'll get to see some of those horses come over to Keeneland for the Breeders' Cup as well.

01:06:46Being a small family business, I guess we're part of a dying breed.
01:06:50We're really grateful for the people that entrust us. We know it's a huge responsibility.
01:06:54We're always with your horse, every step of the way.
01:06:58When it comes to being at the sales ground, showing your horses, we are with your horse.
01:07:02Just driving up and down the road every day, there's not a time that I don't look out and feel a responsibility to the sport, the animal, the people that come to invest in the game.
01:07:10I want to see as many people enjoy this sport as they possibly can because we do have the most beautiful sport in the world.
01:07:18The TDN Writer's Room is brought to you by Legacy Bloodstock.
01:07:21If you think that 50 years combined experience in the horse business could benefit your program, give Tommy or Wendy a call.
01:07:26They personally advise on each horse as if they were their own.
01:07:30It was a historic Keeneland September sale for Legacy Bloodstock.
01:07:33They had over $100 million in all-time sales and their highest ever Keeneland September sale average.
01:07:39They also had the highest price yearlings by Distorted Humor, Bernardini, and four other stallions.
01:07:44Shout out to Tommy and Wendy. They do a terrific, terrific job.
01:07:47Still got a couple more yearling sales to go.
01:07:49Best of luck.
01:07:51This week's Remy cartoon has a little bit of fashion influence.
01:07:55We're flashing forward to the Breeders' Cup.
01:07:57In the Breeders' Cup, red carpet.
01:07:59Someone interviewing a jockey saying, so who are you wearing?
01:08:02The jockey says, this outfit was designed by Claiborne Farms.
01:08:05Classic, classic racing fashion.
01:08:08All right, so as I mentioned earlier on the show and as I announced earlier today on Twitter, this is my final episode of the Writer's Room.
01:08:14I'm going to be moving on to trying to grow better things, doing a little bit more writing and a couple other creative ideas I have percolating in the old noggin.
01:08:21But there's so many people I want to thank.
01:08:23I thank the fans earlier on Twitter, and that goes tenfold for this show.
01:08:28They have just been the most terrific fans you could imagine.
01:08:31They really have kept me going throughout the last couple of years.
01:08:34But I want to thank also all the people that have made this show what it is and made me into the person and the broadcaster I am.
01:08:41First off, I've got to thank Sue Finley and Patty Wolf for starting this show.
01:08:44They're both visionaries, and their success in their field speaks for itself.
01:08:49Their confidence in me and the show's concept really helped us hit the ground running to where we quickly, I think, you know,
01:08:55let's pat ourselves on the back too much.
01:08:56We became the industry standard for what a racing news and analysis podcast could do.
01:09:01And Patty, in particular, has helped me grow so much as a host.
01:09:04And she and her team have tirelessly worked to make this show by far the best looking and sounding podcast in the business.
01:09:10And so much of it has been successful because of that.
01:09:13They truly did almost all of the heavy lifting.
01:09:15We mainly just had to show up and talk and then get all the credit.
01:09:19So that was that we did.
01:09:20We had the easy part.
01:09:21Anthony LaRocca, Aaliyah LaRocca, Nathan Wilkinson, the rest of Patty's editing team,
01:09:25they're not only outstanding at what they do, but they're great people through and through.
01:09:29I've been proud to work with them every step of the way.
01:09:32Katie Petruniak, our associate producer, is one of the most hardworking, genuine people in this business.
01:09:37And I think the absolute world of her.
01:09:39She and I have become close friends over the past six months or so, which I'm very grateful for.
01:09:43Can't wait to see all the awesome things that she does and she's going to do in racing because she's already super talented.
01:09:48But she's just scratching the surface of what she can do.
01:09:51Thank you to all the guests and the co-hosts up to and including the terrific Zoe Cadman,
01:09:55who I'm so excited to watch going forward on the show.
01:09:58Everybody's been so generous with their time and particularly the ones who lent their credibility to the show in its infancy.
01:10:04You know, I complain sometimes about certain things in racing.
01:10:07But one thing I've always appreciated is that is how willing everybody in racing is to talk.
01:10:11You know, that's been true in my writing.
01:10:13It's certainly been true on this show.
01:10:15Thank you to all the sponsors who have supported the show.
01:10:17And I especially want to thank three of our earliest foundational sponsors who helped us get going.
01:10:22The Green Group, West Point Thoroughbreds and Keeneland.
01:10:26And last but not least, as I started to get choked up a little bit, my road dogs, my homies, my partners in crime,
01:10:31and my older, older, older brothers who have been along for the ride on this show basically the whole way,
01:10:36Bill Finley and John Green.
01:10:38You guys taught me so much about this game.
01:10:40Bill, you're one of the best in the world, if not the best in the world, at what you do.
01:10:44John, you proved how valuable your voice is in this game as well.
01:10:47You both helped this show and turn it to what it is with your fearlessness, your knowledge, your good humor.
01:10:53I'll continue to be a fan and a supporter of both of you guys.
01:10:56Thank you both from the bottom of my heart for all the laughs and the good times.
01:11:00Well, Joe, you made one huge mistake there.
01:11:02You gave credit to everybody but yourself.
01:11:04And look, as people well know, let's call what's going to start next week Writers Room 2.0.
01:11:10Zoe's going to be part of the show.
01:11:12Randy Moss is going to be part of the show.
01:11:14TD Thornton's going to help us out as well.
01:11:16And I will be taking over Joe's role as the host of this.
01:11:20But can we be as good as the original TDN Writers Room?
01:11:23We've got huge shoes to fill.
01:11:25And Joe, you're a big part of that reason why.
01:11:27I mean, your insights, your humor, your professionalism, your on-air presence.
01:11:31I can't say enough about that.
01:11:33You did an absolutely fantastic job as the lead man of this podcast.
01:11:39And it wouldn't be anywhere near what it has become if it weren't for you.
01:11:43You're going to be sorely missed.
01:11:44And again, I just hope that we can do this show proud as we move forward into a new era
01:11:48and live up to the reputation that we developed in large part because of what you have done
01:11:53and the work that you've put in on this.
01:11:55Thank you so much, brother.
01:11:56That means so much to me.
01:11:57I love you.
01:11:58I love all you guys who have ever worked on the show.
01:12:00It's been everything to me for the past couple of years.
01:12:03And let's quickly go to the goodbyes before I break down crying because this has been hard for me.
01:12:08And I'm at peace with what I want to do.
01:12:11And, you know, it's bittersweet, but I'm so, so grateful.
01:12:14Gratitude above everything for me.
01:12:16Everything that this show has brought me and all the relationships that I've made because of it.
01:12:21So thank you, Bill.
01:12:22And thank you, everybody, who's helped me along the way on this show.
01:12:25So that's going to do it for this week's edition of the TDN Writer's Room presented by Keeneland.
01:12:29Keeneland November sale.
01:12:30I think it's coming up in a couple of months.
01:12:32I honestly can't go through a copy right now because I've got to get through these goodbyes.
01:12:36But I want to thank Bill Finley, Zoe Cadman, our Green Group Guest of the Week, Jimmy George, our producer, Patty Wolf, our associate producer, Katie Petruniak, and our editors, Anthony LaRocca, Leah LaRocca, and Nathan Wilkinson.
01:12:48Stay safe down there with the Hurricane guys.
01:12:50Love you all so much.
01:12:51This has been the thrill of my life and my career so far.
01:12:54See you.
