00:00Owner and breeder Gary Broad purchased Womack Farm outside of Lexington in 2018.
00:08The historic property has been home to many prominent stallions over the years, and this
00:12year Corbeliefs, a multiple-graded stakes-winning son of Quality Road, became the first stallion
00:18to stand at Womack under its new ownership.
00:22Gary has done a lot of work on the farm.
00:25Most people, when they come in, they're like, we saw it years ago, and it's just, it looks
00:29so good right now, you all have done so much work.
00:32And Gary has, he's really put a lot of work into it.
00:35Fencing has been a big one, but he loves the farm and he's taking really good care of it
00:42and trying to bring it back to what it was before, better.
00:46I started working over here in 1984.
00:51I've been working 39 years over here on this farm.
00:55Corbeliefs, I've been around with horses for many years.
00:59He got everything, good bone, good body, good balance.
01:03I think he's a great-looking horse.
01:06We bought Corbeliefs out of the Barrett sale because not only did he breeze 10 flat, but
01:11his gallop out was so strong.
01:13So we were real patient with him, and we just gave him a month off at the farm, and then
01:18we brought him to the Stanley Array.
01:20Our riders were real high on him from the beginning.
01:23He showed a lot of class and a lot of speed.
01:26And then we sent him off to Pete Ayrton, and he won routing.
01:29We got excited about maybe trying him in the Derby kind of picture.
01:34So we threw him into the Santa Anita Derby against Bolt DeOro and Justify.
01:40So he went into some deep waters and ran a good third.
01:44And from there, we went to the Ohio Derby.
01:47All the way around the track, I think he was about four or five wide, and he still had
01:50enough to finish and just get there.
01:53He was very close, but just got there to beat Lone Sailor.
01:58He won the New Orleans Handicap off the layoff, which was really exciting for us.
02:04He just showed a lot of speed and a lot of stamina, never took a bad step, really.
02:09He always stayed very sturdy and strong.
02:11He was a champ with everything we did with him.
02:14He always showed a lot of class.
02:16The main reason that we decided to stand Cor here this year was because of the success
02:23that Quality Road was having, and because of the success that City of Lights had at
02:28the sale.
02:29When the breeders come in, a lot of them have said they can't afford Quality Road, they
02:33can't afford City of Lights.
02:34They heard about Cor Beliefs and wanted to see him.
02:37And they'll get in and look at him like, oh my gosh, he's gorgeous.
02:41I didn't expect him to be that big.
02:44And he is.
02:45He's a nice size.
02:46He's a little over 16, too.
02:48We've had several that have said he looks a lot like Quality Road.
02:51We've even had a couple say that he looks more like Elusive Quality.
02:54Very correct.
02:55That's what a lot of people like, too.
02:57He's got a beautiful balance, beautiful conformation.
03:00He's part of the reason we wanted to stand him stud.
03:05His physical has always been his biggest attribute.
03:10Gary has purchased mares at the sale.
03:12We've purchased mares privately.
03:14We have mares of our own that we've already been breeding to him.
03:18We want to help him get every opportunity to make a stallion.
