00:00The Venezuelan National Assembly addressed and denounced in its ordinarization ExxonMobil's
00:16lobby actions against oil companies in the country.
00:24In Argentina, the trial of seven health professionals began to investigate their responsibility
00:28in the death of football legend Diego Maradona.
00:33In Saudi Arabia, Ukraine expressed its readiness to accept the US proposal to introduce a 30-day
00:38temporary ceasefire with Russia.
00:45Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Etersu Studios in Caracas,
00:49Venezuela.
00:50We begin with the news, stay with us.
00:58Members of the Venezuelan Parliament rejected the lobbying of the U.S. company ExxonMobil
01:11against foreign oil companies operating in the country.
01:14During the ordinarization of the National Assembly, the President of the Legislative
01:17Body, Jorge Rodriguez, urged the Public Prosecutor's Office to apply the Simon Bolivar Law and the
01:22Law of Extinction of Ownership to those who promote and celebrate the criminal sanctions
01:27against the country.
01:28In this sense, the first Vice President of the National Assembly, Pedro Infante, assured
01:33that the U.S. company ExxonMobil is thirsty for revenge against the Bolivarian Revolution,
01:38while he emphasized that it intends to continue attacking the country with more blockade sanctions
01:43and exploiting the oil found in the territorial sea, which is in dispute between Guyana and
01:48the Bolivarian nation.
01:56Well ExxonMobil, ExxonMobil is thirsty for revenge against the Bolivarian Revolution.
02:02ExxonMobil intends to take revenge with sanctions, with blockades, and now with the illegal exploitation
02:08of oil in the territorial sea, in a territory that is in dispute, in controversy, between
02:14the Cooperative Republic of Guyana and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
02:19They illegally intend to exploit oil there, from this platform we denounce ExxonMobil,
02:25we denounce Juan Zarate, we denounce Marco Rubio and the whole guild of the United States
02:29Oil Corporation, particularly those linked to ExxonMobil, who are trying to harm the
02:34Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
02:37And from here we say that on May 25th there will be elections, and we will have the governor
02:42of Guyana Esequiba, and we will have a legislative council, and this country and this people
02:47will come out to defend the interests and rights that are ours by history, long live
02:52Guyana Esequiba, down with imperialism and its interests of the ExxonMobil company.
03:22President Mauro said the nation is open to all international investments, oil, gas, petrochemicals
03:27and refining.
03:28The formula of the Bolivarian economic agenda is part of the successful plan in times of
03:32imperialist sanctions and criminal blockades, which allows for a strong domestic economy
03:37based on quality national production, accessible to the people and with a vocation for export.
03:51The Congress of Popular Communication communal think-tanks begins in Venezuela.
03:56The Congress of Popular Communication takes place from Tuesday 11th to March 12th, with
04:01the aim of strengthening the revolutionary communication and fighting against the digital
04:04manipulation of global capitalism.
04:07During his intervention in the meeting, the Minister of Communication and Information
04:10of Venezuela, Freddy Gáñez, affirmed that it is foreseen to form a communal think-tank
04:15in each one of the 5,338 communal circuits of the country.
04:20Gáñez warned that social media and digital technologies represent a danger for the states.
04:32The proposal that social networks have and the background that exists in social networks
04:38is the attempt to steal our political capacity, it is the attempt to exterritorialize the
04:43individual, it is the attempt to flatten the cultural singularity that humanity has and
04:48to pigeonhole each one of us in an extreme individuality that only feels compensated
04:54by the algorithm.
04:55Today, digital technologies represent an extraordinary threat in this sense, a threat to the security
05:02of states from the point of view of data.
05:11During a televised interview, Ambassador of Barbados to Cricom, David Camisón, condemned
05:16the Donald Trump administration's ongoing effort to subvert Cuba's medical brigades
05:20by threatening government officials and family members of these professionals.
05:27A lot of our CARICOM countries actually depend on these Cuban medical personnel to save lives.
05:36Many of them are specialist doctors that they don't have in their countries.
05:42In Barbados, we don't depend as much as some others, but we definitely needed them during
05:47COVID and we had something like well over 200 medical personnel come here to help us.
05:59The Alliance of People United for the Life of Panama announced on Monday a plan of action
06:03in the face of threats from the United States and in rejection of the proposed reforms to
06:07the Social Security Fund.
06:09The activities began with picketing outside the National Assembly, as well as leafletting
06:14and marches in different parts of the country.
06:17The unionist organizations assured that Panama is going through very complex times and it
06:21is necessary to be united to face the ambitions of President of the United States, Donald
06:26Trump.
06:27They also added that it is necessary to suspend the project of reforms to the Social Fund,
06:31as well as the claims of the Rio Indio Dam, the reopening of the mine, and the increase
06:36in subway fare.
06:43Now we have our first break coming up.

06:54Welcome back.
07:18In Argentina, the trial of seven health professionals began to investigate their responsibility in
07:24the death of football legend Diego Maradona.
07:26The health professionals are charged with simple manslaughter with malice aforethought,
07:31a crime that occurs when a person is aware that his actions could result in death and
07:36still carries it out.
07:37During the trial, about 120 people were testified, including Maradona's relatives, experts, and
07:42doctors.
07:43Diego Maradona died on November 25, 2020, at the age of 60, due to a cardiorespiratory
07:49crisis while he was at home in his residence in the north of Buenos Aires.
07:57With the evidence produced in the trial, you, as judges of the intervening court, and the
08:03society as a whole will come to understand what we believe is an absolutely solid and
08:08irrefutable prosecution, characterized by the introduction of objective and quality
08:13evidence.
08:16Argentine lawmakers filed on Monday a criminal complaint against President Javier Mele for
08:21the signing of an emergency decree of agreement with the International Monetary Fund.
08:27The head of state disclosed the decree aimed at cancelling non-transferable treasury bills
08:31held by the central bank, a measure with which he intends to avoid passing through Congress
08:36anything that implies increasing the foreign debt.
08:38With only four agreements, the DNU grants the Office of Economy the power to apply the
08:43necessary instruments to comply with the Fund's requirements.
08:47In this context, analysts and experts have qualified the document as a nonsense that
08:51does not withstand the slightest analysis.
09:13Also in Argentina, where 70 percent of the Bahía Blanca population was affected by rains
09:17and floods, which led the country to declare a weather emergency.
09:20In this context, the mayor of the city of Bahía Blanca, Federico Susbillas, reported
09:26that the number of evacuees has decreased to 523 people and that the water levels remain
09:31low.
09:32Susbillas also detailed that the city has recovered 70 percent of power supply, while
09:37efforts are progressing to recover the totality of the service.
09:41They also reported the distribution of 100 tons of food and other supplies, while they
09:45are in the process of distributing more aid.
09:56Moving on in Colombia, hybrids continue in the oral trial against former President Álvaro
10:00Uribe for fraud and witness bribery.
10:03The trial moved forward with testimony of Luz Mireya López, an official of the Technical
10:07Body of Criminal Investigation, who knew about the visits made by the lawyer Diego
10:11Cadena to prisons in the country in 2018.
10:14The prosecutor's office presented the minutes of visits to prisons where, according to the
10:19prosecution, lawyer Diego Cadena and others close to Uribe had offered benefits to former
10:24paramilitaries in exchange for favorable declarations.
10:28Álvaro Uribe denied such accusations, stressing that he never instructed Cadena to offer gifts
10:33to those who spoke in his favor.
10:43And local authorities in Ecuador denounced that the government of Daniel Doboa has not
10:46paid the pending finance debts to provinces affected by floods.
10:51According to the Consortium of Decentralized autonomous provincial governments of the nation,
10:54over 60 percent of the population of the country has pending payments.
10:59The institution unveiled that debt amounts to more than $500 million, most of which corresponds
11:04to territories affected by torrential rains, such as Manapi and Guayas.
11:09Likewise, the institution assured that Doboa's government is turning its back on citizens
11:13because it does not have the resources to assist those affected.
11:27Meanwhile in Chile, at least six people died and dozens were injured after the collision
11:30of four buses in the Coquimbo region.
11:33According to local authorities, the accident took place after one of the units suffered
11:37mechanical failures on Route 5 North, causing two overturns.
11:41Two other buses stopped to render aid, but minutes later a fourth bus, apparently speeding
11:46and not respecting the warning signs, caused a chain collision.
11:49The authorities say that more than 40 injured were taken to hospitals in the cities of Coquimbo
11:54and La Serena, while work was being done to clear the road.

12:21Bonjour.
12:49Welcome back.
12:53Ukraine expressed its readiness to accept the U.S. proposal to introduce a 30-day temporary
12:58ceasefire with Russia that can be extended by mutual agreement of the parties to the
13:02conflict.
13:03This was announced in a statement issued following Tuesday's meeting between Kiev and Washington
13:07delegations in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
13:10According to the final document drawn up after more than eight hours of negotiations, Washington
13:14was also ready to immediately lift the pause in intelligence sharing and resume security
13:19assistance to Ukraine.
13:21According to the document, the delegations also agreed to appoint their negotiating teams
13:25and immediately start talks to achieve a lasting peace in the conflict.
13:29In this regard, while Washington pledged to discuss these proposals with representatives
13:33of Russia, the Ukrainian side reiterated that European countries should be involved in the
13:38process.
13:39At the end of the U.S.-Ukraine meeting, U.S. Secretary of State Marcos Rubio summarized
13:43the main points of the agreement and shed light on further details of the talks.
13:48The first point of your question is yes, that's the offer.
13:53The offer is to stop the shooting.
13:55The goal here is, the only way to end this war is to negotiate out of it.
13:59There's no military solution to this war.
14:01The solution to this war and the way to end it and to achieve the president's objective
14:06of peace is to negotiate.
14:08But before you can negotiate, you have to stop shooting at each other.
14:11And that's what the president has wanted to see.
14:13And that's what, that's the commitment we got today from the Ukrainian side, their willingness
14:16to do that.
14:17Obviously, now that'll be delivered to the Russians, it'll be delivered to them directly
14:20through multiple channels, meaning not only will they obviously see it, but we've already,
14:24you know, it'll be communicated to them through our diplomatic channels, through conversations
14:28and other methods.
14:29In this context, U.S. President Donald Trump offers statements to the press on the temporary
14:33ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.
14:35Vladimir Putin, yeah, I want to get, look, that's the other, it takes two to tango, as
14:40they say, right?
14:42So hopefully he'll also agree, and I really think that would be 75 percent of the way.
14:47The rest is getting it documented and, you know, negotiating land positions, et cetera.
14:52So you'll talk to him this week?
14:54I think so, yeah.
14:55On Tuesday, the president of Serbia, Aleksandr Vucic, denounced that a coup d'etat is underway
14:59in the country.
15:00He assured that violent factors are trying to forcibly form a transition agreement.
15:05He explained that an executive without elections, besides violating Articles 308 and 309 of
15:10the Constitution, would be the end of prosperous, modern and flourishing Serbia.
15:15This Monday night, a group of students blocked the headquarters of the national radio and
15:18television in Belgrade, the capital of the country.
15:21It's the preamble of the demonstration that they are calling for next March 15th, when
15:26they will try to take over institutions by force.
15:29The sponsors claim that they are protesting the lack of justice for 15 people who died
15:33in the collapse of a train station.
15:36The government warns that the violent ones will be arrested and subjected to long prison
15:40sentences.
15:48Greenland held its own parliamentary elections as islanders headed to the polls on Tuesday
15:53amid ongoing U.S. threats.
15:54With an expected border turnout of 70 to 75 percent, Greenlanders elected 31 members to
16:00their parliament among the six running parties.
16:04In this regard, according to previous polls, main candidates belong to the sitting Social
16:07Democratic Summit party, the left-wing Inuit Ataka Tijit, pro-independence Naleraq, center-right
16:14Democratic and the liberal-conservative Atasut.
16:17The island's Prime Minister, Mute Egede, called early parliamentary elections amid threats
16:22by U.S. President Donald Trump of annexing the territory and turning it into a strategic
16:27area aiming to seize control over mineral-rich homeland.
16:34We are not for sale, and someone should make it more clear to Donald Trump that he has
16:39to stop playing.
16:44I hope the Greenlandic people will vote with their senses today and not by greed.
16:52And they will not be seduced by greed.
16:55I don't want to mention his name.
16:58A shell explosion in the Pediatric ward of a hospital in South Kipu, east of the Democratic
17:04Republic of the Congo, killed five people on Sunday.
17:07A local radio station reported that several people, including patients and medical personnel,
17:11were seriously injured as preliminary reports attributed the incident to the actions of
17:15the M23 rebels currently occupying the capital of South Kipu and Bukavu.
17:20In the aftermath, the hospital has reportedly resumed its activities, with medical authorities
17:26calling for an immediate recovery of the affected area, which requires urgent reconstruction.
17:43Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has been arrested following an international
17:46criminal court warrant for his so-called war on drugs.
17:50The former leader is accused by ICC prosecutors of crimes against humanity over his anti-drugs
17:56crackdowns from 2016 to 2022, in which as many as 30,000 people were killed, according
18:02to local non-governmental organizations.
18:04Most of the victims were men in poor urban areas who were gunned down in the streets.
18:09The president's office said Duterte was arrested on Tuesday at Manila airport after flying
18:14back from Hong Kong.
18:16The arrest brings solace to the relatives of victims, which had expressed concern that
18:20Duterte would not be prosecuted for the crimes.
18:27And China's National Committee of the Communist Party urged its members to boost the Asian
18:33nation's modernization.
18:35With the attendance of President Xi Jinping and other authorities, the closing ceremony
18:39of the highest political advisory body was presided over by the chairman of this national
18:43committee, Wang Huning, who unveiled its political strength and democratic vitality.
18:49Wang reaffirmed that the organization should better fulfill its functions to expand the
18:54capacity of political consultation to strengthen the determination and confidence for the creation
18:58of a new era.
18:59Finally, the committee urged the advisors to keep united, pushing forward the national
19:04revitalization and modernization of the Asian giant.
