00:15ballistic missiles against the Russian province of Kursk.
00:22The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, assured
00:27that the Simon Bolivar Liberator Organic Law will eliminate impunity for those who violate
00:32the Venezuelan constitution.
00:38And the government of China has rejected on Monday the U.S. military plan to deploy missiles
00:43in Japan and the Philippines.
00:52Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana,
00:57Cuba.
00:58We begin with the news, stay with us.
01:17The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine refugees warned that the risk
01:21of drought and disease threatens the lives of residents of the Gaza Strip amid Israeli
01:26aggressions.
01:27UNRWA added that the drought in Gaza is due to the lack of fuel to operate the water wells,
01:33especially in the north of the Strip, which has been subjected to an escalation in the
01:38genocide for some 50 days.
01:40The United Nations Agency denounced that some 70,000 Palestinians are struggling to obtain
01:45water, a basic human right that remains out of reach for many.
01:51The situation is made worse by the shortage of food and medical supplies due to the persistent
01:56Israeli genocide and the border blockades that prevent the entry of humanitarian aid.
02:06The Israeli government preliminary accepted a possible ceasefire agreement in Lebanon.
02:12The official Israeli broadcasting authority made the announcement after specifying that
02:17although Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to evaluate the proposal of a ceasefire
02:22put forward by the United States, the decision is not final.
02:27This comes in the context of a visit by the U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein, who gave a deadline
02:33to reach an agreement.
02:35The U.S. representative notified Israel that if it does not reach an agreement, in the
02:40next few days it will abandon the negotiations.
02:47The government of Iraq denounced a plan to expand the war in the Middle East after the
02:53Israeli aggressions against Palestine and Lebanon.
02:55During his eighth annual conference for Iraqi Ambassadors, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hossein
03:02stressed the importance of enhancing diplomatic efforts to prevent any aggression and possible
03:08threats against Iraq, this in the midst of the ongoing attacks against the Gaza Strip
03:13in Lebanon and the Israeli regime's plan to expand its war to other countries in the
03:19region.
03:20In this regard, Hossein stressed the need to intensify efforts to reach a ceasefire
03:25in Palestine and Lebanon.
03:28These days, there are wars and attacks in the surrounding region.
03:36There is an aggression against the Palestinian people, an aggression against the Lebanese
03:40people, and there is a plan to expand this aggression and expand the war, to expand the
03:44war to other countries.
03:57The United States government confirmed on Monday that it allowed Ukraine to use long-range
04:02ballistic missiles against the Russian province of Kursk.
04:06The statement was made by the White House National Security Council Spokesman John Kirby,
04:11in which he also stated that the government had changed the guidelines on the use of these
04:16weapons.
04:17In recent days, the Ukrainian regime carried out attacks with U.S. long-range ballistic
04:21missiles at camps and British cruise missiles against the Russian territory.
04:27In response to the aggressions, Moscow launched a missile against a military plant in the
04:32southeast of Ukraine.
04:38The Russian government reaffirmed its goodwill to negotiate for the peace process with Ukraine.
04:45The Russian Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov asserted that his government has always been open to
04:50peace talks.
04:51Moreover, Peskov highlighted that President Vladimir Putin is ready to settle differences
04:56with Ukraine, but on his own terms.
04:59In this regard, members of the Federation Council assured a possible decline in allocating
05:04aid to Ukraine after Trump's victory, while legislators of the Duma said that the decisions
05:09should be made by the Kremlin and not by the White House.
05:13Meanwhile, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip
05:18Erdogan recently held a telephone conversation in which they discussed several issues, including
05:24the peace process with Ukraine and the readiness of the parties.
05:34In the United States, the judge overseeing Donald Trump's election interference case
05:38dismissed on Monday, at the request of the U.S. Department of Justice, DOJ, the special
05:44counsel Jack Smith.
05:46Smith had asked to dismiss two federal cases against the Republican president-elect, which
05:53accused him of attempting electoral meddling, seeking to overturn his 2020 election defeat,
05:59and mishandling of secret government documents.
06:03The decision was allegedly made to a long-standing DOJ policy that bars the prosecution of a
06:10sitting president, and not because the charges lacked merit.
06:14The ruling from U.S. District Judge Tanya Shotkin puts an end to the federal effort
06:19to hold Trump criminally responsible for the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol
06:25led by his supporters.
06:49Welcome back to From the South.
07:03The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, assured
07:08that the Simón Bolívar-Liberida organic law will eliminate impunity for those who
07:12violate the Venezuelan constitution.
07:15The vice president of the PSUV pointed out that the Venezuelan far-right has gone beyond
07:20the permissible limits, with its constant calls to apply sanctions and invade Venezuelan
07:26territory.
07:27Cabello assured that the new legislation will allow to judge and punish those who violate
07:33the principles contemplated in the constitution, with the purpose of harming the Venezuelan
07:38people.
07:39Likewise, the minister assured that this law will prevent radicals from making decisions
07:45and taking part in the Venezuelan political life.
07:54There is an open consultation now nationwide of the Simón Bolívar-Liberida law, an extraordinary
08:02legal instrument that will allow decisions to be made against those who violate this
08:06constitution.
08:09Enough is enough.
08:11Impunity is over.
08:15They have crossed the permissible line.
08:19They call and continue to call for invasions, blockades, persecutions only to hurt our people.
08:28The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, recalled
08:33that the extreme right-wing groups are not facing just an individual, but a whole revolution.
08:42We are military targets, that does not concern us, and we are less concerned about what Eric
08:47Prince, an extortionist, says.
08:51We will continue working.
08:55For example, on Saturday we have a national deployment event.
09:00That's the mistake these people make, they think the problem is a person.
09:06But this is a revolution that has taken shape.
09:10They are not facing just a person, they are facing a whole revolution.
09:17Venezuelan executive vice president, Delsi Rodríguez, called on oil workers to defend
09:22the oil industry and announced that the extreme right was behind the recent attacks against
09:26the major gas complex in the state of Monagas.
09:30The executive vice president stated that the far-right opposition leader, María Machado,
09:35is part of those who planned the attack on the Muscar plant, which possesses 80% of the
09:41gas required by the country for the operation of companies, as well as for the automotive,
09:46electric and domestic sectors.
09:48For his part, the president of PDVSA, Héctor Obregón, highlighted the work of the energy
09:54workers since the day of the attack, pointing out that although they have managed to repair
09:59most of the damage, they continue working on the total recovery of the complex.
10:04Likewise, Rodríguez pointed out that for many years, the United States has been trying
10:09to get hold of Venezuela's largest oil reserves, which are the largest in the world.
10:21It has been a permanent desire of the government of the United States to get hold of the largest
10:26oil reserves of this planet.
10:30It is not something new, but look, I only wanted to bring up an episode from the past
10:38to understand what happened recently on November 10, when we woke up on Sunday, at half past
10:44seven in the morning, with a grenade in the north dock of the state of Zulia, which sought
10:49to prevent the shipments to the CRP for the production of fuel, when that same day in
10:55the afternoon they caused an explosion in the Petrocedinho upgrader, to paralyze the
11:02production of diesel.
11:05Fortunately we are prepared for contingencies and for extremist attacks.
11:11Do not be surprised.
11:13Do not be surprised.
11:20The executive vice president, Lelsy Rodríguez, also stressed that this recent attack is part
11:25of the coup agenda of María Corina Machado, who is backed by drug trafficking and paramilitarism
11:30from Colombia.
11:34Just 24 hours after that terrorist attack against the gas distribution heart of Venezuela,
11:40a mercenary, an outstanding torturer and murderer, and intimate friend of María Corina Machado,
11:46came out to claim responsibility for the attack and to give details of what was happening,
11:52of how Venezuela had been affected in the state of Managas, at the latitude, giving
11:58the coordinates and everything.
12:01They did the attack, and then they gloat.
12:05For them it is pure joy.
12:07And who is asking for that?
12:10Who plans that?
12:12The drug trafficker Machado, who pretends to be very courageous, but when we told her
12:18that here are the women of Venezuela are, she ran away.
12:23She went away with the drug traffickers and the paramilitaries from Colombia.
12:30The ALBA-TCP member states congratulated the president-elect of Uruguay, Yamandú Orsi,
12:35highlighting the legacy of his political platform, the broad front in the unity of the Latin
12:40American and Caribbean peoples.
12:42Through a communiqué, the intergovernmental organization stated,
12:47The member states of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America-People's Trade
12:51Treaty ALBA-TCP celebrate the holding of the second round of elections in the Eastern Republic
12:57of Uruguay, in which the broad front candidate Yamandú Orsi was selected as the new constitutional
13:03president of the Republic this Sunday, November 24, 2024.
13:08The statement continued as follows.
13:10The ALBA-TCP member countries recognize the democratic disposition of the Uruguayan people
13:16for a victory that in turn expresses a significant defeat of neoliberal policies and antipopular
13:23positions.
13:24Likewise, the countries of the Bolivarian Alliance congratulate president-elect Yamandú
13:28Orsi and his political platform, the broad front, and wish them great success in their
13:35upcoming administration to wisely lead Uruguay along the path of progress and social welfare.
13:41Finally, the document points out,
13:43The Bolivarian Alliance celebrates the sovereign victory of the Uruguayan people, confident
13:49that President Orsi will know how to resume the unpostponable path of Latin American and
13:54Caribbean unity to which the broad front governments contributed so much in their previous administrations.
14:01As stated by José Gervasio Artigas, the most famous Uruguayan hero,
14:06The cause of the peoples does not admit the slightest delay.
14:16In Ecuador, authorities registered a historic record high of more than 76,000 hectares burned
14:22so far in 2024 by forest fires.
14:25The National Risk Management Secretariat reports that there are currently 13 active fires
14:31in five provinces.
14:33The province of Loja is the most affected so far, with 32,958 hectares destroyed, including
14:40areas of the Polo Carpos National Park.
14:43The Ecuadorian Air Force discharged 19,000 liters of water as part of the firefighting
14:49efforts in which more than 300 firefighters and 200 volunteers are participating.
14:56It is added that so far this year, forest fires have left 7 people injured, 235 victims

15:45Welcome back to From the South.
15:47Cuba stretched once again a hand of peace and reconciliation to the world within the
15:52framework of the 11th Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and
15:57Peace held in Cambodia in Southeast Asia.
16:00The plenary session was founded in 2017 as a mechanism to promote the culture and peace
16:06and fight off discrimination and extreme violence.
16:09While the international parliament is made up of 58 delegations representing parliaments
16:14of different global regions, on the 11th plenary session, the Cuban delegation appreciated
16:20the support of the meeting in the struggle against the inhuman U.S. blockade.
16:25Likewise, the Cuban representatives reaffirmed their commitment to peace, tolerance and reconciliation
16:31grounded in ethics, humanism and dignity of the Cuban revolution.
16:40I take this opportunity to express once again Cuba's steadfast will to continue expanding
16:47and diversifying its relations on the grounds of dialogue, respect for sovereignty and peace
16:55among all nations.
16:58On behalf of the Cuban people, I'd like to express our deepest gratitude for the permanent
17:05and unwavering support in the struggle of our country and the world for putting an end
17:12to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America.
17:22Protesters mobilized in Pakistan's capital Islamabad to demand the release of former
17:27Prime Minister Imran Khan.
17:29In the outskirts of Islamabad, several citizens who support the Tariq-e-Inzaf party were attacked
17:36by the security forces with tear gas.
17:38Besides, roads were blocked by police agents.
17:42The mobilization also aims to demand the dissolution of the current administration and to call
17:47for a new election day.
17:49After his ouster from power by the parliamentary motion in 2022, Imran Khan has been an outspoken
17:56critic of the Pakistani government, being arrested in 2023 on charges of corruption
18:01and manipulation of election results.
18:03The government of China has rejected on Monday the U.S. military plan to deploy missiles
18:14in Japan and the Philippines.
18:15In a statement, China's foreign ministry opposed the United States' plan expected
18:20to be completed next month, which involves the deployment of several missile units on
18:25the Nansei Islands in southern Japan.
18:28The North American nation has recently strengthened military cooperation with countries in the
18:33Asia region in the face of growing tensions of Beijing over the Taiwan Straits.
18:38On the other hand, authorities recalled that peace in the region depends on respect for
18:43the principles of self-determination and non-interference as well as the recognition of China's sovereignty
18:50over the islands of Taiwan.
18:56China strongly opposes related countries using the Taiwan issue as an excuse to strengthen
19:01regional military deployments, provoke tensions and confrontation, and undermine regional
19:07peace and stability.
19:21In the United Nations General Assembly, November 25 was approved as the International Day for
19:27the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
19:29More in the following report.
19:33Patria, Minerva and Maria Teresa Mirabal, three sisters known as the Butterflies, who
19:42defied the dictatorial process of Rafael Trujillo in the Dominican Republic.
19:47For decades, this dictator imposed a regime of fear, assassinations and repression.
19:53Thousands of opponents disappeared, freedom of expression was silenced and the country
19:57was plunged into darkness.
19:59His legacy is a stain on history.
20:03The three sisters became symbols of the struggle against oppression to liberate their homeland.
20:10Their assassination, by orders of dictator Trujillo on November 25, 1960 marked a before
20:15and after in the history of Latin America, that far from silencing them, expanded their
20:20voice.
20:21Today, their legacy continues to inspire those who fight for justice and equality.
20:29The sacrifice of the Mirabal sisters laid the foundation for the International Day for
20:34the Elimination of Violence Against Women, a date that seeks to remind US that violence
20:39against women is a violation of human rights.
20:42Today, as we commemorate the three sisters, we reaffirm our commitment to build a more
20:47just and equitable world for all women.
