00:00The United Nations Conference on Climate Change opened in Baku, Azerbaijan to address the
00:09climate crisis and agree on measures to combat rising global temperatures.
00:16In Saudi Arabia, Arab and Islamic countries made an extraordinary summit to discuss the
00:20repercussions of Israel's genocide against Middle Eastern nations.
00:27And in Venezuela, Attorney General Tarek William Saab denounced media campaigns carried out
00:30against democracy in the country.
00:37Hello welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Televisual Studios in Havana,
00:42Cuba.
00:43We begin with the news.
00:44The United Nations Conference on Climate Change opened in Baku, Azerbaijan to address the
01:03climate crisis and agree on measures to combat rising global temperatures.
01:07At the opening of the event, COM 29's President Muhtar Babayev warned that the climate crisis
01:12is not a future problem but a present one, as he reflected on recent natural disasters.
01:17The official stressed that this summit aims to agree on a new climate finance target to
01:22ensure that all countries have the necessary means to adopt such stronger climate measures.
01:27He also reiterated that the UN has called for urgent collective action led by the G20
01:32group to reduce extreme weather events.
01:42But we need much more from all of you.
01:46When I want to be crystal clear about our expectations, our plan is based on two pillars
01:54to enhance ambition and enable action.
01:59This means setting out clear climate plans and delivering the finance we need.
02:05These two pillars are mutually reinforcing, each sending a strong signal to the other.
02:12Because as we mobilize climate finance, we allow for higher ambitions.
02:18And as we signal together higher ambition, we build trust to unlock greater financial
02:24commitments.
02:27Dear colleagues, to enable action, the COP 29 Presidency's top priority is to agree
02:34a fair and ambitious new collective quantified goal on climate finance.
02:41All Sinan Serpajan protested inside the COP 29 headquarters in Baku, calling for climate
02:47justice and demanding a halt to the genocide against Palestine.
02:51During the day, pro-Palestinian demonstrators carried banners to demand greater action from
02:55the governments of the nations regarding the situation in the Palestinian enclave.
03:01Activists also pointed out that there can be no climate justice without respect for
03:04human rights.
03:12We all understand that there can be no climate justice without human rights.
03:17If we can't stop the genocide in Palestine, we can't stop the genocide that is coming
03:22in terms of climate violence.
03:24When governments come here and say they don't have climate finance to help developing countries,
03:29but they find money for bombs and weapons, when you are destroying international law
03:33itself and the rules-based system, the very system we rely on to address the climate crisis,
03:40it compels all people of conscience to speak out.
03:43In this regard, activists call on the global north to provide the climate finance needed
03:49at COP 29 and to halt the finance of the genocide against Gaza.
03:56That is why, on the first day of COP 29, our main message is one of solidarity, solidarity
04:02with Palestine, and justice and accountability to the global north.
04:07It is therefore about asking the global north to provide the climate finance that is needed
04:11at this COP and to stop funding genocide in Gaza.
04:17And close to 70 countries around the world participate on Monday in the Global South
04:21Media and Think Tank Forum held in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
04:25The meeting welcomes 350 representatives of 170 organizations, companies, journalists,
04:29governments, among others, to address common realities and challenges in order to consolidate
04:35a platform for cultural exchange and cooperation.
04:38China and Brazil, as organizers of the forum, sent a message to the attendees highlighting
04:43the fundamental role of the nations of the Global South in the current contemporary scenario.
04:48Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a letter to the forum expressing his country's willingness
04:52to promote multilateralism and to advocate an equitable and orderly multi-polarity in
04:58the world.
04:59In an exclusive interview for Telesur within the framework of the Global South Media and
05:07Think Tank Forum, Venezuelan Communication Minister Freddy Náñez emphasized that this
05:13region has a strategic vision created by the countries that fought against colonization
05:17and fought for their independence.
05:21We must first recognize the positive leadership that China has been exercising in the construction
05:26of new international relations, based on values of complementarity.
05:31The Global South, which is a strategic vision that the countries that have fought against
05:35colonization and have fought for independence have had, the Global South is a new opportunity
05:39for humanity.
05:41Humanity can live in peace, as long as it lives in balance and in recognition of differences.
05:46These are the values that this meeting convened by Xinhua proposes.
05:53In the same context, the president of our news multi-platform Telesur, Patricia Villegas,
05:58announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Chinese news agency Xinhua.
06:03During the first media summit of Global South, Telesur president Villegas said the newly
06:06signed macro-cooperation agreement with Xinhua will allow the multi-platform to deepen the
06:11already strong relationship with the Chinese media.
06:16Let's now take our first short break, but before we invite you to join us on Tiktok

07:04Welcome back.
07:06The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed its categorical rejection to the Israeli aggression
07:10against the Palestinian people and demanded the end of the genocide in the Gaza Strip.
07:15On Monday, in the inaugural speech of the joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit in
07:20Riyadh, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Mohammed Bin Salman called for
07:24the need to end the illegal Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territory, stressing the
07:28importance of continuing joint efforts to establish a Palestinian state on the 1967
07:34borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
07:37In addition, he reaffirmed the Kingdom's support for Palestine and Lebanon to overcome
07:42their current humanitarian situation and called on the international community to assume its
07:45responsibilities to preserve international peace and security.
07:53We support our brothers in Palestine and the Kingdom condemns the prevention of UNRWA from
07:58carrying out its role and refuses to obstruct the work of the humanitarian agencies in Gaza.
08:04The summit is being held in view of the continuing Israeli attacks against the Palestinians and
08:08the need for the creation of a Palestinian state.
08:11We reject the diminished role of the Palestinian Authority, as it is entitled to full membership
08:16in the United Nations, and we have launched a global initiative to support the solution
08:21of two states.
08:22We also condemn the Israeli attacks on Iranian territory.
08:27Within the framework of the Arab-Islamic Summit, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad stressed
08:31the urgent need to take practical and feasible measures to stop the aggressions and crimes
08:35committed by Israel in the region.
08:41We have to decide our options, either by condemning, boycotting or calling on the international
08:46community.
08:48What is our implementation plan?
08:49We are not dealing with a state, but with a colonial and murderous entity, and we are
08:53not dealing with a nation but with herds of settlers, which are reflected in Israeli barbarism.
09:00On the other hand, Lebanese Prime Minister Nayib Bekradi recalled that the basis of the
09:04meeting continues to be the immediate end of the Israeli aggression against countries
09:08in the region.
09:14The basis remains the immediate end of the ongoing aggression against Lebanon, the declaration
09:18of a ceasefire and the establishment of the groundwork for sustainable stability.
09:23Also to reiterate the Lebanese government's firm and unwavering commitment to UN Resolution
09:271701 in all its aspects, to reinforce the deployment of the army in the south in close
09:33cooperation with international peacekeeping forces, and to work for the extension of the
09:37Lebanese state authority to all internationally recognized borders.
09:43In the Netherlands, at least 62 people were arrested by the police during a demonstration
09:47in defense of the Palestinian people.
09:50Demonstrators gathered on Sunday in Amsterdam's Dam Square in defense of the right to free
09:54protest after local authorities banned demonstrations in support of Palestinians, following an altercation
09:59with supporters of the Israeli soccer team Maccabi Tel Aviv after a European League match.
10:05Demonstrators stated that rejecting Tel Aviv's genocidal policies is not an anti-Semitic
10:09action but an act of justice in the face of the violent acts.
10:13Citizens denounced a policy of segregation by local authorities who reject any action
10:17in favor of the Palestinian people.
10:24And in Belarus, the government confirmed that it has officially become a partner country
10:28of the BRICS bloc.
10:29The Belarusian foreign ministry said that on November 5th, President Alexander Lukashenko
10:33sent a letter to the pro-Tempera president of the group, Vladimir Putin, in which he
10:37conveyed his willingness to join BRICS.
10:40The foreign ministry confirmed that President Putin responded to the letter with an invitation
10:44to Belarus' government to become a member of the BRICS.
10:47The partner country's status allows Belarus, among other things, to participate in special
10:53sessions and foreign ministers' meetings of the BRICS group.
11:00And in Russia, the crumbling government denied on Monday reports that claim the U.S. President
11:05Electoral Trump has spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin, where Trump had allegedly
11:10urged Putin to not escalate the conflict in Ukraine.
11:13Casting the media reports as pure fiction, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the report
11:18was completely untrue, fake news, and the most obvious example of the quality of the
11:23information that is being published nowadays.
11:26Asked if Putin had plans for any contact with Trump, the Russian government spokesman insisted
11:31there are no concrete plans yet.

12:12The Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro fine-tuned details for the Congress of the
12:20Historic Bolivarian Bloc, which will set the action agenda for the next government term.
12:25The Venezuelan leader met with the coordinating team of the Five Generations of the Bolivarian
12:30Revolution, with a view to finalizing the details for the Congress of the Historic Bloc,
12:35which will take place on November 15th, where the project of the Seven Transformations will
12:39be synthesized.
12:41The Venezuelan head of state assured that now the next step is to develop the more than
12:44500,000 proposals made during the assemblies.
12:47Maduro also pointed out that Venezuela is the only country where its executive sets
12:52up a government action agenda by means of popular consultation.
13:00And Venezuela's Attorney General Tarek William Zab denounced on Monday the media campaigns
13:05carried out against democracy in the country, linked to the events that occurred after the
13:09presidential elections held on July.
13:11The official described the campaigns as mercenary attempts to discredit the Venezuelan democratic
13:16system and its justice system, in the face of the actions of criminal groups promoted
13:21by the so-called Comanditos and the extreme right.
13:25Zab also detailed that the violence registered after July 28th, 2024, left 28 dead and thousands
13:31of wounded, as well as 486 properties destroyed.
13:39In the face of the unfortunate, nefarious and criminal events that occurred as of July
13:5128th, particularly on July 29th and 30th, which unleashed a wave of violence that killed
14:05and injured many people and which led to the total destruction of schools, mayor's offices,
14:10food warehouses etc.
14:19By whom?
14:20By people bearing the national flag to express their ideas in a square.
14:33By individuals who used bombs and firearms, who together with conventional weapons, used
14:39also non-conventional weapons to wickedly kill and injure innocent Venezuelan men and
14:44women.
14:49The Attorney General of Venezuela Tarek William Zab also pointed out that those involved in
14:53the violent events following the presidential elections held on July 28th are not political
14:57prisoners but criminals who carried out terrorist actions.
15:05It should be recalled that they were supposedly against, let's put it in quotation marks,
15:10the electoral results that were transmitted in real time by the only authority that has
15:15the legal, juridical and constitutional capacity to do so in Venezuela and in the world, which
15:25is the electoral power.
15:28They used that as an excuse to provoke the tragic figure of 28 dead and more than a thousand
15:33wounded.
15:40These people are not political prisoners, they are not prisoners of conscience.
15:46Unfortunately, they are criminals, who carried out terrorist actions, paid by the so-called
15:56comanditos and this is how we are going to present it in detail and unleash, that was
16:02the objective, they wanted to unleash a civil war in Venezuela.
16:09Ecuador's Ministry of Energy and Mines announced a new increase in blackout schedules from
16:13Monday, November 11th to Tuesday, November 12th.
16:16The latest power cuts will last at least 12 hours during these days.
16:20The same way, authorities assure that measures will be implemented to guarantee the compliance
16:25of the disconnection schedules and the energy distribution companies that are not compliant
16:30with established schedules will receive administrative sanctions.
16:33Experts warn that the energy crisis in the country has worsened in the last months due
16:37to the lack of investment in the pending electric system, which entered into crisis due to the
16:42lack of rain in the region.
16:49The Argentine government has renamed the Néstor Kirchner gas pipeline in its attempt to erase
16:53political and ideological cultural symbols of the country.
16:57The decision was made known by a resolution issued by the Secretary of Energy of the nation's
17:02Ministry of Economy, where it was informed that as of Monday, the pipeline's name will
17:06be Perito Francisco Pascasio Moreno Gas Pipeline, that is after an Argentine prominent scientist
17:13and explorer.
17:14Since he took office, President Javier Melea has eliminated institutions and ministries,
17:19as well as changed the names of the Kirchner Cultural Center and the Women's Hall of the
17:23Casa Rosada.
