00:48Hello, welcome to From the South, I'm Ana Marrero from the TELESUR headquarters in Caracas,
00:57Venezuela.
00:58We begin with the news, stay with us.
01:14In Venezuela, Caracas will host the 24th Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples
01:20of America's People's Trade Treaty.
01:23On Wednesday, the relegations from ALBA member countries prepared to hold a political and
01:28social forum.
01:29During the meeting, it is expected that high-level leaders and political actors will seek to
01:35become familiar with the meeting in order to organize the agenda with the head of state
01:41to take place this Friday.
01:43According to the official agenda of the ALBA-TCP, this Thursday the Council of Social Movements
01:48will agree on part of the recommendations to be discussed during the summit.
02:01Let's take now this opportunity to learn more about the ALBA-TCP in the following segment.
02:08Hello, on December 14th, Caracas is the epicenter of the 24th Summit of Head of State and Government
02:22of ALBA-TCP.
02:23To know what this multilateral mechanism is all about, let's watch the following report.
02:29ALBA-TCP is a regional international organization founded in 2004 by the governments of Cuba
02:37and Venezuela to counter the free trade area of the Americas promoted by the United States.
02:44ALBA-TCP currently enrolls Latin American and Caribbean countries with the firm objective
02:50of fighting poverty and social exclusion based on leftist ideological doctrines.
02:57This mechanism prioritizes equality and the common good in relations between nations by
03:03fostering regional dialogue, by identifying areas for strategic alliances and by promoting
03:09consensus and agreement among Latin American nations.
03:16Regarding block transactions, ALBA has its own virtual currency, the Sucre, Spanish acronym
03:22for the Regional Compensation Unitary System, named after Independence General Antonio
03:27José de Sucre.
03:29The Sucre was created to progressively replace the U.S. dollar at commercial exchanges among
03:35ALBA member countries.
03:36At present, it is under revision to be reactivated in tune with new trends and technological
03:42advancements.
03:48And on a day like this, we recall what Commander Hugo Chávez said about ALBA.
03:53ALBA equates to reviving Bolívar and Martí in the Americas.
03:58Chávez equated the ALBA project with the ideals of liberators Venezuelan Simón Bolívar
04:03and Cuban José Martí, highlighting the historical and transcendental implications of this initiative.
04:13Join us and tell us your English throughout this special week as we continue to follow
04:17the ALBA-TCP 24th Summit in Caracas.
04:28In Argentina, President Javier Millet celebrated having dismissed over 35,000 public employees
04:39in his first years in office, aimed at high levels of poverty.
04:43During a speech on Tuesday, Millet congratulated himself for implementing measures that lead
04:49to the dismissal of thousands of workers and the worsening of poverty in Argentine households.
04:55The President also praised the closure of the National Institute Against Discrimination,
05:00Xenophobia and Racism, as well as the Women's Ministry, in spite of turning out key programs
05:06to protect women and gender diversity.
05:09Javier Millet's judgments take place in a context of what he assured will lead countries
05:14to economic recovery, but according to experts, the poverty index shows another reality.
05:26Still in Argentina, social movements begin a national day of struggle against hunger
05:31and to denounce President Javier Millet's budget cuts to soup kitchens.
05:37Workers' unions of the People's Economy warned about the sharp increase in poverty
05:42during the government of liberty advance as a result of the critical situation regarding
05:47dismissals, labor rights and basic constitutional guarantees.
05:52The union also warned that as a consequence of Millet's neoliberal policies, millions
05:57of families will not have the possibility of having dinner on their tables during the
06:02Christmas holidays.
06:03In this sense, they demand to public and private sectors an urgent response to face this Christmas
06:10with dignity.
06:11The Bolivian Navy has added a robot to its ranks that can dump large amounts of waters
06:23and fight off wildfires.
06:26The handmade robot built by the Bolivian Armed Forces will join the ranks in the fight against
06:32wildfires two months after fires ravaged at least 10 million hectares.
06:38The robot, named Erizo, was presented on Saturday in the city of Cochabamba by President
06:44Luis Arce.
06:45It can be taken directly to the heart of the fire and can create 3.8 tons of waters to
06:51put out the wildfires.
06:54In September and October, Bolivia experienced the biggest fires in 10 years, which leads
06:59the government of President Arce to declare a national disaster.
07:08We congratulate the Bolivian Navy for the work it has carried out through its Department
07:12of Technological Innovation, for having created four prototypes of forest fire trucks and
07:19a prototype of a firefighter Erizo, as well as for the consolidation of the National Center

07:55Welcome back to From the South.
08:04The leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, blamed the U.S. and
08:10the Israeli regime for the situation in Syria, where terrorist groups seized power after
08:14overthrowing President Bashar al-Assad.
08:17The Iranian leader met on Wednesday with thousands of Iranian citizens from different strata
08:22in Tehran to tell them they have proof that the plot was a plan in Khamenei's rooms in
08:28Washington and Tel Aviv.
08:30Furthermore, the Ayatollah claimed that a country bordering Syria was involved, which
08:36he might have referred to Turkey.
08:39The sense Khamenei points out that these nations are seeking to take over lands in the north
08:44and south of Syria, while the U.S. aims at threatening its presence in the region.
08:49Likewise, the Iranian leader denied speculations about awakening of the Axis of Resistance,
08:55highlighting his confidence in the Syrian youth will expel the Davidian forces.
09:03It is crystal clear that the underlying foundations on the Syrian events were the making of a
09:07coordinated joint plan of action between the U.S. and Israeli command room.
09:11The main conspirators, the key plotters and the control room are located in the United
09:16States and the Zionist entity.
09:18We have evidence of this, and it leaves no room for doubt or hesitation.
09:23The Ayatollah Khamenei further advanced that the more crimes Israel and its Western allies
09:29commit against the region, the stronger the Axis of Resistance will become.
09:35The Axis of Resistance works out like that.
09:38The more the enemies pressure on the resistance, the stronger it becomes, and as it gets stronger
09:42than an ox by facing the escalating crimes committed against our countries, its determination
09:47strengthens as well.
10:05Moving on, the Israeli regime issued new unlawful arrest warrants against 36 Palestinian nationals.
10:12The Palestinian Prisoners' Society and the Commission of Detainees Affairs released a
10:17joint communique providing the names of those having received the judicial orders without
10:23being charged or taken to trial.
10:25Indeed, Israeli policy allows the detention of Palestinians without charging them for
10:29renewable periods that usually range from three to six months.
10:35And hence, an Israeli human rights group denounced by Tel Aviv is denying those individuals the
10:42possibility of presenting an adequate defense.
10:45So the Saudi regime continues its flagrant violations of the restrictions of international
10:50law.
10:56Israeli occupying forces continue dropping bombs on residential areas and hospitals in
11:01the Gaza Strip.
11:02Local outlets report that on past Tuesday, the Israeli General Staff Forces monitored
11:08and ground attacks around a hospital in Bethlehem City, north of the Gaza Strip, killing at
11:14least three civilians and injuring others.
11:17Concurrently, the occupying artillery fired its shells towards the southern areas of the
11:23Al-Abreid camp and Jabalia in the Senneret and north of the Gaza Strip, actions in which
11:29a journalist lost his life.
11:32Moreover, the Ministry of Health unfoiled that Israel has slaughtered over 44,800 Palestinians
11:41since October 2023.
11:48In this context, the Gaza and civil defense warn of being close to disrupting all services
11:54in the territory due to Israeli aggressions.
11:57And in these services will affect over two million Palestinians.
12:02The civil defense denounced that since the onset of the Israeli offensive, the occupying
12:06forces have deliberately attacked their facilities and vehicles.
12:10The entity noted that an immediate and permanent ceasefire is necessary for humanitarian reasons,
12:16in addition to making sure that aid arrives quickly.
12:25Palestinian authorities denounced the Israeli forces' massive demolitions of a village in
12:30the northern-occupied West Bank.
12:33Palestinian officials condemned the devastating aftermath of the Israeli incursions onto their
12:38territories.
12:39One of them was the head of the Colonization and World Resistance Commission, Muyad Shabab,
12:45who spoke out against the destruction of the Khirbet al-Tawil village, nearby the Agrabah
12:51city.
12:52In addition, the leaders of international and human rights institutions who safeguarded
12:57Palestinian people from the systematic attacks of Israeli forces and shelters.
13:01The authorities drew attention to the fact that Israeli bulldozers have demolished houses,
13:07agricultural lands, and the power grid served in the Khirbet al-Tawil area.
13:17The Spanish government announced its support for Lebanon and bet on the country's stability
13:23following a meeting between Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and his Lebanese counterpart
13:29Nayib Bikari.
13:30During the meeting, both politicians discussed issues related to the bilateral cooperation
13:35between Spain and Lebanon, as well as the current situation in the Middle East.
13:39The Lebanese Premier thanked the Spanish government for the support to his country and for including
13:45Peru in the list of priorities for development cooperation.
13:50Bikari also emphasized his priority regarding Israel's commitment to the resolution of ceasefire
13:56and the withdrawal from southern Lebanon.
14:04Sudanese armed forces hit a district of northern Darfur state, claiming over 100 lives in Sudan.
14:12Emergency agencies issued briefings to provide details of the incident that state the Sudanese
14:17armed forces dropped bombs on a market in the Kabia area.
14:23The entity describes the incursion as an overnight massacre in the morning, which not only inhabited
14:31over 100 people, but also left hundreds injured, including women and children.
14:36This airstrike is part of an intense campaign by the Sudanese armed forces against the rebel
14:41paramilitary rapid support forces.

16:17On tractors, farmer UK trade unions are currently taking to the London streets in rejection
16:25of the government's proposed tax hike.
16:28Farmers' tractors are the co-ordination of Westminster's in London as the government
16:34seeks to remove an inheritance tax exception for farming businesses.
16:41Indeed, around 13-thousand people are rallying against the new tax policies, which Pison
16:46said will harm family farms facing difficulties.
16:50The tax hike proposed that as of 2026, farm properties that worth over 1.3 million dollars
16:57shall pay a 20% tax in order to pass them on to the next generation.
17:08The Russian government urged Western countries to end any support for the Ukrainian regime
17:12after the attacks of International Atomic Energy Agency staff.
17:17The Kremlin said that the attacks on the agency personnel demonstrated the irresponsibility
17:22of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his disregard for the consequences of
17:27a possible nuclear accident in the region.
17:30The Russian Defense Ministry said that Kiev ordered a series of aggressions against the
17:34vehicles transporting the agency's personnel while they were on a tour on the Saporizhian
17:40nuclear power plant.
17:41Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry urged the international community and mainly the
17:46countries supporting Ukraine to bring to justice those responsible for the attack.
