00:00We're checking out the cameras of the Vivo X60 today and we're trying to see if that new ZEISS

00:16We're looking at the Vivo X60, which is the baby of the X60 series. What that means,
00:22that same ZEISS partnership in the most affordable device of the line.
00:27But let's just backtrack here. Who is ZEISS? What is ZEISS?
00:30And I know you've heard this, but I have to say it.
00:32Does ZEISS matter?
00:35🎶
00:44So yes, ZEISS is one of the premier imaging companies. They make optics and lenses and stuff,
00:49some of which can be found on a number of great cameras.
00:52And also not cameras.
00:54So now you know why people are hyped about this partnership.
00:57And with the new Vivo-sized imaging lab, the two brands hope to further improve smartphone cameras.
01:03This co-engineered imaging system between two giants is honestly very exciting to me.
01:08I feel like this will push the boundaries of smartphone cameras further.
01:12I mean, look just how far we've come in terms of phone cameras and imagine that going further.
01:18In my unboxing slash camera tour, I showed you a couple photos and they look good.
01:23But let's dig a little deeper by testing out the cameras and camera features of this phone.
01:29For context, this thing has three cameras on the back.
01:32A 48-megapixel main, a 13-megapixel wide, and a 13-megapixel telemacro.
01:37So first off, I like the fact that the secondary cameras are both 13-megapixel cameras.
01:42That means that they're capable enough cameras and it doesn't really feel like they put
01:46another camera for the sake of putting another camera on there, you get?
01:50And yes, looking back, you do see very specifically that Zeiss branding on the camera module.
01:56Unlike the X60 Pro and the X60 Pro Plus, however, this main camera does not have a gimbal.
02:01It does, however, have EIS and OIS.
02:04But more on that later when we talk about this phone's video capabilities.
02:08Up front, it also has a 32-megapixel selfie cam and a middle punch hole.
02:13Just like Vivo, not to scrimp on megapixels when it comes to their selfies.
02:17Right, let's start with the shots.

02:25So these cameras can do wide, 1x, 2x, up until 20x.
02:30And images on 20x are surprisingly clear considering they're 20x.
02:35For some reason, you get clearer images on 20x when you zoom into a farther away thing.
02:40For example, this flower and these leaves, both 20x, but the leaves are clearer because they're further.
02:45Another quick example, this is wide, 1x, 2x, and then 20x.
02:49You could barely make anything that's a cacti flower.
02:52And then this is a shot of that cactus behind the flower.

03:13Photos from the main camera impressed.
03:16I love the natural blur, colors are bright, details are there.
03:22Captures exactly how cute my dogs are.
03:26That wide can give you great photos in good lighting situations.
03:30Although, of course, when the light gets weird, you sort of see it struggle a little bit.
03:33Nevertheless, still good photos.
03:36This phone also boasts new features on the portrait mode.
03:40And I tried out the Zeiss filter.
03:43There's also that cute portrait mode feature that gives you little shapes in your background.
03:47And it's pretty cute.
03:49Plus, I have to say that this is way easier to use than other phones that have this feature that I've tried,
03:55which needed usually perfect lighting situations to get the shapes to show up.
04:00Like any portrait mode, it's not perfect.
04:02And yeah, talk about capturing the imperfection on the one photo that I actually post hard for.
04:08But yeah, most of the time you get a good bokeh.
04:10And there is a 2x option that looks super good.
04:14Like even if you accidentally screw it up, 2x looks good on this mode.
04:18And yes, you can adjust these bokeh settings before and after taking that shot.

04:28To answer the burning questions, the portrait mode does semi-work on dogs.
04:33On the upper right, you can toggle macro mode on and off.
04:36And you can also put it in automatic.
04:38In which case, it'll automatically switch to the macro mode
04:42when it sort of detects that you are zoomed into an object.
04:57That is a 32 megapixel selfie punch hole.
04:59And we're moving on to my favorite part of this video
05:02because of all the different selfie modes that this phone has.
05:06There are makeup modes.
05:07And you can add this on for days where you feel lazy wearing your makeup.
05:12Or even when you just want to level up the makeup you already have.
05:16It looks so good and natural.
05:18I've used this so many times.
05:20And look at this.
05:21It even has eyelashes.
05:24Remote selfie options include palm shutter or voice.
05:27Which means you can do this.
05:29Cheese!
05:31Or this.
05:37Choo!
05:38Camera!
05:39Go!
05:40Smile!

05:54So you are seeing and hearing what the cameras can do.
05:58We're shooting at 1080p 30fps right now.
06:01Now, I love me a good beauty mode.
06:02Especially if it's a night time.
06:05Especially if it's available on video.
06:07And this is me without any beauty mode.
06:12And this is me with just a little bit of buffing.
06:15So as you can see, that's very minimal.
06:17It looks natural.
06:18It doesn't even look like I have the beauty mode on.
06:21And that is the way to use the beauty mode.
06:23There's also a dedicated movie mode on here.
06:26So as you can see, it looks a little bit more dramatic and fitted for a cinema format
06:31because of the black bars up top and down below.
06:34Now, what's pretty interesting about this is that even when I turn this effect on
06:38or even if I put filters or even if I use the beauty mode,
06:42the video doesn't downgrade from 1080p.
06:44So it still shoots at 1080p.
06:46And that's pretty nice considering a lot of phones downgrade their selfie video
06:50when you start to add putting effects on them.
06:53Front-facing camera.
06:54This is what it looks like when you walk and talk.
06:58This is what 1080p 30fps looks like.

07:04And yes, I am wearing my pajamas even if I'm made up right now.
07:08And if you hear humming sound, that's just the AC.

07:14And then we have 2x right now.
07:16And you can zoom up until...
07:18Whoa, that's a lot.
07:2010x.
07:22Nice.
07:23We're at 1080p 60fps right now.
07:27Unfortunately, there is no option for wide on this.
07:31You can do up until 2x and 10x as well.
07:384k 30fps right now.
07:41We still don't have wide.
07:42We have 1x, 2x, and up until 10x.
07:47Now, 4k 60fps and we can do 1x.
07:52And we can do 1x, 2x, up until 10x.
07:56Unfortunately, like it said when we switched earlier,
07:59this mode does not have OIS or EIS.
08:03It's turned off here.
08:05And yeah, I'm not gonna be exporting this in 4k or 60fps.
08:09But at least you get to see how the cameras shoot those videos.
08:12There's a slow-mo mode that does 120 or 240fps.
08:16And it looks good in well-lit situations.
08:21There's also standard and ultra stabilization or you can turn it off.

09:44Right now, it's time to shoot some low-light shots.
09:47But I'm not leaving this house for anything right now.

10:29Let's do some sample shots.
10:38So my thing said that night mode is better with a tripod.
10:42So let's try that.
10:45So now we're doing some selfie shots.
10:52For selfies, you can also opt to use a fill light and set that on automatic.
10:57So once the phone detects that you need your light, it'll turn on.
11:09Also pretty cool and probably perfect for night cityscapes would be
11:14this night mode pano mode.
11:16I mean, I'm not leaving this house because I'm on voluntary lockdown.
11:20But in the meantime, here is a photo of my room.
11:24I know, not as grand as a cityscape, but you get an idea.
11:34There's an astro mode on here designed to take photos of the nighttime sky.
11:38And I have to say I'm pretty impressed because again, it was really dark when this was taken.
11:44Then there's a slow exposure mode for taking photos of traffic, night graffiti, or star trails.
11:51Like I said, there are many other modes here and even a super moon mode,
11:55except we need the moon to test that out.
11:57And there has been no moon the last few nights.
11:59And there's even a pro mode that'll let you capture raw photos and use all the different cameras.
