00:36In this video, we're checking out the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick.
00:39What it does, how it works, how it fits into my life, and even my LDR this holiday season.

00:56But when they asked me to talk about the Mi TV Stick in a video, I was like, why not?
01:00We actually even use an older version of their Mi TV on our TV.
01:06And I was looking to get this anyway.
01:08Of course, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
01:11This isn't a full review, but basically my experiences with the Mi TV Stick and how I've been using it.

01:27Let's watch some shows.
01:31The Mi TV Stick is basically your Android TV, Chromecast, and even Google Assistant in one teeny little package.
01:38We'll get to how it does all that later.
01:41First, let's set it up.
01:42It's this little tiny stick with an HDMI plug and anything with an HDMI input port, it will work with.
01:49Like this old dumb TV that we've had since forever that we rarely even use now.
01:55Because, I mean, it's dumb.
01:57Let's see if we can...
01:58Oh my God, what's happening?
02:02Yeah, let's see if we can make this a smart TV so that we can use it again.
02:06Oh my gosh, it worked, you guys.
02:12This is amazing.
02:12I never thought we'd be able to use this TV ever again.
02:15I mean, not that we'd be able to use it because obviously it's broken, but it proves a point.
02:21Setup is really easy too.
02:22All you really need to do is plug it in and then plug the stick in.
02:26Plug in this HDMI thing to the HDMI port on your TV.
02:31Right, so my TV shape doesn't allow me to plug it in directly.
02:35It won't fit.
02:38But the Mi TV Stick comes with this cord, so all I really need to do is plug this in.
02:45And plug this in.
02:47Problem solved.
02:49So now we plug it in.
02:51It comes with a power cord and also this power brick.
02:56From the TV, we have now connected this to the stick and we can now connect this to power.
03:03But since I'm a sucker for cable management and I cannot deal with even more things plugged in,
03:09we can just plug this USB to your TV and it'll power your stick.
03:15And don't worry.
03:16Both cords come with a Mi TV Stick and voila, it works.
03:23Once it's running, you become the proud owner of an Android TV.
03:27You can run apps like Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, Disney, Hulu, Red Bull TV,
03:34Spotify, and even HBO Max on this.
03:38As long as you have a subscription.
03:39This is, after all, the Mi TV and not the subscription service.
03:43Personally, I just do a lot of Netflix on my TV.
03:46Perfect 4K drama marathons with a boyfriend, even if he's in a different country during the holidays.

04:30It's just a nice bonding experience for us,
04:32though I'm sort of jealous that he watches his shows on a cool Mi projector that's also an Android TV.
04:39It's nice because basically I can now turn anything into a bigger TV to watch stuff on.
04:44And imagine traveling with this.
04:47No more Netflixing on your tiny phone.
04:49This thing can do 1080p and 4K context.
04:52When you say this thing can do 1080p, what does that mean?
04:56Like, when does it matter?
04:57What can you watch it on?
05:01Okay, so for media, 4K is really good as long as you're actually watching 4K stuff.
05:08Like, the majority of things that we watch online, like media and all that, are actually in 1080p.
05:14So for somebody like me that actually has, like, I actually have a 4K, so do you.
05:18We have 4K TVs.
05:19When we watch 1080p content, which is the majority of stuff on the Internet,
05:24it gets upscaled, which is nice, and you still get a benefit.
05:27But for the most part, if you have, like, more of a regular-sized TV, something less than 50 inches,
05:34like, 4K is nice to have, and you might see some differences,
05:38but usually around that size and below, 1080p is more than enough.
05:42But it's also, like, a lot of us don't even do Netflix 4K subscriptions.
05:48So we don't really use it.
05:51My vlogs, my videos are in 1080, so...
05:56And yes, just like you saw, this thing has Chromecast.
06:00This means that anything on your phone, you now can easily cast on that big screen.
06:06That's videos, photos, screenshots, presentations, and like you saw earlier, video calls.
06:12Perfect for when I want to actually talk to a life-size version of my boyfriend.

06:48The Mi TV Stick comes with this remote, and it has shortcuts to Amazon Prime and Netflix.
06:54It's voice-activated because we all know it's a pain to type on TVs.

07:05Also, and I love this part, it has Google Assistant.
07:09I can basically go around and be like,
