00:00Hey what's up guys, MKBHD here.
00:12So we've had 10 million subscribers on this channel for a couple weeks now, and it's been
00:17pretty incredible, still honestly not really used to seeing that number there, it's a crazy
00:21amount of people.
00:22But this is a direct result of that.
00:25You may have seen it before, or maybe you haven't seen it, or maybe this is the first
00:29time you're seeing it in all this detail, but this comes straight from YouTube with
00:32a note from Susan, the CEO, and it's the award for hitting 10 million subscribers on one
00:38channel.
00:39It's the Diamond Play Button.
00:41Okay, so as some of you may know, YouTube is one of the only platforms that shows its
00:45appreciation for the creators that make it possible in this sort of physical way.
00:51Maybe the only platform.
00:52Like they definitely don't do everything right, and they might have a long way to go as far
00:55as earning everyone's complete love and trust.
00:59But this is a genuinely cool thing that they do that you don't see Instagram or Facebook
01:03or TikTok or other creator-driven platforms doing.
01:07So this is cool to see.
01:08But actually, first, there are some other awards for some other milestones that have
01:12changed over the years.
01:13This is the original silver 100,000 subscriber award milestone that I got back, I don't remember
01:21what year exactly, but as you can see, nice little frameable certificate.
01:25This is one of the originals, and then you get to adding a digit, and then you get this
01:33gigantic million subscriber.
01:36This is the gold play button award, and they put the logo from the channel down here.
01:42And this is hangable as well.
01:45This I got in 2014, and this is also one of the originals.
01:49So I hadn't actually hung this up on a wall yet in the studio just because it's so heavy,
01:53but as you can tell, they have a pretty similar look to each of them.
01:56But since then, now they've updated it so there's two newer, more minimalist ones, still
02:01silver and gold, but now they're frameless, they're clean, and they're probably also much
02:05easier to hang.
02:06They switched over to that a couple years ago.
02:08You know what, I'm also gonna link below the like button, what's inside video where they
02:11toured the sort of mini factory, the facility where they make these creator awards.
02:18But then we've arrived at this.
02:19So this is the YouTube 10 million subscriber diamond play button.
02:25It's not meant to be hung up, it's just a button.
02:27This one, as far as I know, has been unchanged since they started making it.
02:31And it also seems to be the most exclusive one, aside from the custom 50 million and
02:35100 million subscriber awards, I think only PewDiePie has gotten.
02:38But I feel like now that I have it in person, might as well review it.
02:41So without having it with you, the hardest thing to convey or see on camera is how heavy,
02:47like how dense it is.
02:48Spoiler, it isn't actually a giant diamond, but it is a solid piece of machined aluminum,
02:54which is super heavy, and then polished on the outside with this crystal embedded in
02:58the middle of it.
02:59It's heavy, it's hard to hold in one hand.
03:01And if I actually put it on the scale, it shows about 4,800 grams, or about 10 and a
03:06half pounds.
03:08That's about the same as a two liter soda, or a large watermelon, or maybe for you tech
03:14people, three 13 inch MacBook Pros stacked on top of each other, and then some.
03:19So that is the number one thing that everyone will notice.
03:22But then of course, what you can tell is, it's extremely shiny.
03:25Like it has all kinds of angles to it, and the whole thing is very reflective, which
03:28ultimately makes it a fingerprint magnet, which explains the microfiber cloth that actually
03:33comes in the briefcase when you first take it out the box.
03:37Typically when something is a fingerprint magnet this much, it's also slippery, and
03:40you wanna like cover it up.
03:42But I'm gonna say, this is not something you wanna throw a dbrand skin on.
03:45You know, show it off.
03:46Prop it up somewhere.
03:47That's why it has the microfiber layer on the bottom of it, so that you can confidently
03:51put it down, and stand it up on its end.
03:54Because unfortunately, unlike the other two awards, there's pretty much no way to hang
03:58this one on a wall.
03:59On the back, it has the channel name, and it says congratulations on passing 10 million
04:04subscribers.
04:05And then the YouTube logo, and it's laser etched.
04:07And then the crystal in the middle, I think is pretty sick.
04:10It sticks out a bit, like a camera bump on the back of a phone, but I'm not mad about
04:13this one at all.
04:15And it has a bunch of cuts on the sides of it.
04:17So the more you tilt it around in the light, the more you get all kinds of different reflections,
04:22and it looks sick.
04:23Overall design, 9 out of 10.
04:26Ergonomics, I'm gonna give it like a 7 out of 10.
04:31Build quality is a 10 for sure.
04:32And value is priceless.
04:35Seriously, if you haven't watched the previous, the 10 million subscriber celebration video,
04:40just know that this, of course, would not exist here without you guys.
04:44And many of the things I'm able to do on this channel would also not be possible without
04:47you guys.
04:48I want to say the uploads are a little quiet in January, just because there's not that
04:52much tech happening in January.
04:54But the lineup for February is already super sick, and I'm excited to share this stuff
04:59with you guys.
05:00And it's because of you that this is all possible.
05:02So thank you again for subscribing, thanks for watching, and I'll catch you guys in the
05:08next one.
05:09Peace.
