00:00Good afternoon. Some big contrasts in our weather for the next few days with
00:04some very fine warm and sunny weather for many north and western areas but in
00:09the south heavy downpours. So far this morning we've seen a heavy rain and
00:13thunderstorms push in from the south and east through parts of Kent. They're now
00:17pushing into parts of South Wales and southwestern England. That's where we'll
00:20see the focus of the rainfall through the rest of today. However further north
00:24it's actually been a very dry start to the day. There's a bit of cloud around on
00:28eastern areas of the north but across the northwest plenty of warm sunshine to
00:33come and actually parts of Western Scotland could see some of their highest
00:36temperatures of the year so far. So a big difference from north to south. We do
00:42have a weather warning in force across southern areas where this persistent
00:45rainfall could is likely to bring further flooding issues and surface
00:49water as well could bring some travel disruption too. So make sure you take a
00:53closer look at our weather warning on our website and app for more details on
00:56that. But elsewhere as I said plenty of fine weather and it will feel very warm
01:01in the sunshine actually for many north and western areas northwestern England
01:04western areas of Scotland the Highlands in particular could see temperatures as
01:08high as 27 possibly 28 degrees later on this afternoon if you're sheltered from
01:13the wind. But the easterly wind will bring a much cooler feel to the eastern
01:17coast of Scotland northeastern England as well as some low cloud across these
01:21areas as well. But that will burn back through today but it's going to drag in
01:25again once again tonight. So more in the way of mist and drizzly rain across
01:29northeastern areas. This rain across the south will push into parts of the
01:33Midlands and more central areas of Wales and it will fizzle away as it does so. So
01:38there is some respite in the rainfall to come through this evening but still
01:41quite a lot of cloud around and after the very warm day today temperatures
01:44quite widely will hold up into the mid teens across parts of the northwest and
01:48for many areas. Slightly fresher feel though across the far south to start the
01:53day on Saturday. So perhaps a bit of a drier start today still quite a lot of
01:57cloud around for many of us away from the north and west but that's what we'll
02:00continue to see the best of the sunshine through the weekend. But more rain will
02:04develop as we head towards lunchtime and into the afternoon.
02:07Particularly across central areas parts of Wales and the Midlands as well we
02:11could see some heavy downpours as well as across the south coast. Now there will
02:15be some sunny intervals but this risk of heavy downpours will increase as we head
02:20into the afternoon across the far south coast of England. So potentially a bit of
02:25a warmer day across the south. Temperatures climbing up towards 20 or
02:2821 degrees but if you do get stuck under any of the showers particularly
02:32across central areas it's going to be a much cooler day tomorrow compared to the
02:36warm weather you're experiencing through today. But in the north and west another
02:40very warm and sunny day with plenty of sheltered sunshine but again across the
02:45east coast we'll continue to see that cloudier weather. But let's focus on the
02:50south or through Saturday evening as we see further heavy downpours push in from
02:54the south. Now as I said there is some uncertainty with how quickly this rain
02:57moves up and where the focus of the heaviest rainfall will be but where we
03:01do see the heavy rain across parts of Wales, southeastern areas of England, the
03:05south coast of England as well we will likely see some further issues for
03:09localised flooding. So please keep up to date with our weather warnings on our
03:13website and app and I'll see you again soon, bye bye.
