00:00Hi there, drier and sunnier weather is on the way but still a few showers to talk about
00:07for the overnight period and in some places during Friday as well.
00:11Plenty of showers on the map then as we start off Thursday evening but increasingly overnight
00:15those showers have become more confined to the east coast, perhaps some longer spells
00:19of rain coming in from the North Sea at times, certainly a lot of cloud in the east, that's
00:23going to keep temperatures up at 11 or 12 Celsius overnight in the east along with the
00:29breeze as well but further west with drier and clearer weather arriving, well we could
00:34get down to something like 6 Celsius, somewhere like sheltered parts of Scotland but we've
00:41got also higher pressure moving in here so increasingly settled weather arriving from
00:46the west and north-west over the next couple of days, however it's in the east and south-east
00:52where we'll still see some occluded fronts and the influence of low pressure bringing
00:56some outbreaks of rain or showers during Friday and Saturday, certainly an unsettled start
01:01in the east and south-east on Friday morning, a keen breeze from the North Sea, a lot of
01:06cloud, showery rain on and off, those showers could turn heavy for a time into the afternoon
01:11as well if we get enough warmth developing but at the same time we're going to see drier
01:18and sunnier weather across northern and western parts of the UK, certainly compared with the
01:22last few days plenty of fine weather, still the chance of some cloud building anywhere
01:27from central Scotland into northern England, parts of Wales and somewhere like Wales and
01:33the Midlands could still get the odd light shower but for the vast majority away from
01:37the east and south-east it's a fine Friday and with the sunny spells developing temperatures
01:42reach the high teens and low 20s in places, Glasgow 20 or 21 Celsius, Barnstable 20 Celsius
01:50so a fine day to come for many and feeling warm in the sunshine but we've still got that
01:55cloud and that nagging North Sea wind to contend with in the east, that will still drive some
02:00showery rain into the far east of England, somewhere like Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, perhaps
02:04Kent as well into the start of Saturday but for the vast majority elsewhere it's clear
02:10spells overnight and with lighter winds as well and a cool airflow in place, well temperatures
02:16will drop a bit further I think, fairly widely in the west 9 or 10 Celsius but in sheltered
02:22parts mid-single figures and some sheltered glens of Scotland could get down to 3 or 4
02:28Celsius. So a fresh start to Saturday but plenty of sunshine first thing for Scotland,
02:33Northern Ireland, much of northern and western England as well as Wales seeing those blue
02:36skies, not entirely sunny into the afternoon, some cloud will develop and also the odd light
02:42shower couldn't be ruled out, somewhere like Wales or the Midlands once again but the most
02:46frequent showers will still affect parts of Norfolk, Suffolk, Kent, Essex for example
02:52along with that cool wind from the North Sea. Where we've got lighter winds and sunny skies
02:57elsewhere temperatures up to 18 to 21 Celsius, feeling very pleasant in the summer sunshine
03:03because by this stage we're into a new meteorological season and of course the start of every season
03:09brings with it new wonders and joys but also new challenges and to help make the most of
03:17the summer months we recommend you stay prepared and you can find tips on how to do that on
03:23the Met Office website. Bye bye.
