00:00Hello. Good afternoon. Welcome to your latest Met Office update. It's a windy afternoon
00:05for many of us, particularly across northwestern areas. There's a risk of gale-force winds.
00:10But it's also been a brighter start to the day, particularly compared to yesterday. This
00:13is the satellite picture from 7 o'clock this morning. You can see many central and eastern
00:18areas of the U.K. have gotten off to a fairly bright start. But we do have low pressure
00:22still in charge of our weather. That's centred up to the north of the U.K. And where the
00:26ice bars here are tightly packed, that's where the stronger winds are. You can also
00:31see these lines on the satellite picture. That shows some gusty winds moving into parts
00:35of north Wales as well. As well as some strong winds, there's low pressures also bringing
00:40spells of wet weather through the rest of the day. And we've seen some heavy showers
00:44already across parts of northwestern Scotland. And here is where we'll continue to see those
00:49blustery showers through much of the day. Parts of northwest England and Northern Ireland
00:53at times could see some of these showers. But elsewhere, we should get away with a fairly
00:56dry day. And actually, in any sheltered sunshine across the far southeast, that's where the
01:01best of the sunshine will be. We'll see highs of around 21 degrees. So it will feel a little
01:05bit warmer than yesterday for some of us. But actually, for the bulk of us, with the
01:09strength of that breeze, it's going to feel fairly fresh and a little unsummery like,
01:14especially if you're in any of those heavy, possibly thundery showers across northwestern
01:18areas. Now, this evening, we'll start to see this wet weather across the south spreading.
01:23We've got a string of weather fronts moving along the south coast. It will come and go
01:27to southern and central areas of England and Wales through the course of Friday. So a spell
01:32of wetter weather to come. And through this evening, that wet weather's sacked the southwest
01:37of the UK. So it will start to cloud over across parts of south Wales, southwest England,
01:42whereas else further east, it should be a fairly clear evening. Overnight, that rain
01:46will continue to spread in from the south and west for many central and southern areas
01:50of England and Wales. And showers will also continue for the far northwest of Scotland.
01:56But there will be a central slice where things will remain much clearer. And here, temperatures
02:01could dip down into the single figures. But for most of us, it's going to be a fairly
02:05mild start to the day. We're also going to see the winds pick up in this wet weather
02:09across the south, particularly across the English Channel coast throughout Friday morning.
02:14So a bit of a wet, cloudy, muggy and breezy day for many southern areas of the UK. This
02:20rain, as I said, is going to come and go through Friday afternoon. Just to the north
02:24of it, we will see some brighter weather and the winds will be lighter tomorrow. So we'll
02:28feel warmer in any sunshine, naturally across much of northern Scotland or much of Scotland
02:33and Northern Ireland. With those lighter winds and fewer in the way of showers, it's going
02:36to be a slightly better feeling day. Temperatures climbing towards the low 20s for some of us.
02:43As we head into Friday evening, that rain is going to persist across southern areas.
02:46It could turn quite heavy across southwestern areas and showers will continue across the
02:51far north. Now, once that rain clears away to the south and east through Saturday, we're
02:56into a mix of sunshine and showers and temperatures will likely remain on the cooler side of things
03:00for the next few days at least. But you can keep up to date with all the latest by subscribing
03:05to our YouTube channel. See you later on. Bye bye.
