00:00Hi there, very good morning to yet another cloudy start to the day for many parts of
00:05the UK. Low cloud, hill fog, coastal mist and largely drizzly rain across southern and
00:13southwestern parts in particular. Some heavier bursts of rain moving along the English Channel
00:18coast for a time, extending its influence inland occasionally and that's going to stick
00:24with us for much of the day. But for Wales, the Midlands, North East England, skies do
00:28brighten, it ends up mostly dry by the afternoon and in any sunny spells it's going to feel
00:33pleasantly warm, 23 Celsius there in Hull. Cooler for Western Scotland and Northern Ireland
00:39where there will be some brighter spells but also frequent showers moving in and those
00:43showers become heavier and more prolonged later in the day. Whilst towards the south
00:50and south east we're going to see yet more outbreaks of rain as this weather front becomes
00:54very slow moving and reluctant to clear by Friday morning. So some heavier rain on Thursday
01:01evening there for south east England and then further bursts of rain moving along southern
01:05counties of England and south Wales for a time overnight. Eventually that does become
01:11confined to the far south east and east Anglia but elsewhere clear spells and scattered showers.
01:17One or two showers for western England for example but most of the showers will affect
01:20western Scotland and Northern Ireland and some heavier downpours certainly for the first
01:25part of the night in western Scotland at the odd rumble of thunder as well. But it is going
01:30to be turning cooler, certainly a fresher night to come for many places, that is apart
01:35from where we keep the cloud and some outbreaks of rain in the far south east, 16 Celsius
01:40here by dawn. That cloud will eventually move away into the continent and it does turn brighter
01:47and in fact by late morning it's a typical sunny spells and showers kind of set up for
01:52most of the UK. The showers will be most frequent and heaviest across Scotland and Northern
01:58Ireland. Fewer across England and Wales but you wouldn't rule them out just about anywhere.
02:03However where we do avoid the showers, some places will stay dry, it will be warm once
02:07again, 24 Celsius there in the south east, widely 21 or 22 across England and Wales,
02:13mid to high teens or even up to 20 Celsius for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Now we
02:18keep that sunshine and showers theme going into the first part of the weekend, in fact
02:23Saturday's showers could be heavier and slower moving in some places but Sunday a ridge of
02:29high pressure moves in, sunny skies for many.
