00:00Hello, it's been a cold start to a wintry working week and it's gonna stay frosty
00:06through the week. Potentially icy and well most places will be dry but there
00:11are a few snow flurries likely through this afternoon. High pressure is
00:15dominating our weather sitting up to the northeast but around high pressure the
00:19winds go clockwise so drawing in a brisk increasing east or northeasterly wind
00:24that is bringing a real chill across the south but also bringing in some showers.
00:28We've seen some rain sleet showers over northeast England, southeast Scotland
00:33and the showers across the southeast initially mostly of rain but turning
00:36more to snow now over parts of Essex, Kent but also spreading a little bit
00:42further westwards into parts of Hampshire and southern parts of the
00:45Midlands. You may see a few flurries elsewhere most places dry quite a lot of
00:50cloud across England and Wales but some sunny spells certainly for Northern
00:54Ireland and Northwest Scotland although here there are also some stubborn
00:58freezing fog patches and if that fog sticks around temperatures won't get
01:02much above freezing may well stay below. Elsewhere we're stumbling up to three
01:07four maybe five with a bit of sunshine in the southwest but it feels colder
01:10than that in the south because of that brisk wind which will continue to bring
01:14some of these snow flurries into parts of the South Midlands, parts of South
01:20Wales maybe parts of southwest England as well very well scattered but wherever
01:25we see a shower be it sleet or snow or hail it could turn things icy so we have
01:30an ice warning a yellow Met Office ice warning in place across much of the
01:34south of England and South Wales from three o'clock through the afternoon into
01:38the early hours of the morning. Further north things generally staying dry
01:43through the evening and staying dry overnight where we've got the clear
01:45skies and the lightest winds across Scotland we could again see that fog
01:49thickening up but if we don't get the fog temperatures will really tumble well down
01:54below freezing. Most towns and cities will get down to freezing or a degree or
01:59so below and again feeling colder with that wind in the south and as I said the
02:03potential for that ice risk through the night. As we get into the morning though
02:07those showers from the southwest should have cleared away so most of us having a
02:12dry day on Tuesday starting off fairly cloudy in South Wales, Southwest England
02:16parts of Northern Ireland, North East England but the clouds should break up for more of us I
02:20suspect so a bit more in the way of winter sunshine on offer on Tuesday. That
02:25wind in the south though could be a little stronger tomorrow so accentuating
02:29the cold field so you get a bit more sunshine but you'll have that stronger
02:33wind. Again temperatures below average anyway 2, 3, 4 degrees at best for most
02:39and again some fog patches in the north of Scotland Murray Firth down towards
02:44Inverness if that fog sticks temperatures will stay below freezing
02:48throughout the day. As we go through Tuesday evening well again not a great
02:52deal of change dry for most clear for most so the frost forms once again some
02:58places won't see it clearing at all through the day of course so that frosty
03:02weather persists into Wednesday morning the high pressure persists for most of
03:08this week it's gonna if anything later this week perhaps shift a little further
03:12south the winds going around it like that could draw in a few more light
03:16showers over southern Scotland and North East England but for most with high
03:20pressure at the air sinking bringing dry weather for much of this week but also
03:25staying on the chilly side. This weather front's just mixing things up a little
03:29bit perhaps as we head towards the weekend but that's a long way off if you
