00:00Welcome to your latest update from the Met Office. It's going to be cold this week and yes, snow will get a few mentions.
00:07But it's mostly been rain and drizzle that we've seen so far on Monday.
00:10This is the view from space. Outbreaks of rain and drizzle just pushing slowly southwards.
00:16And because it's all pushing southwards, it means that air is coming down from the north.
00:19So it's turning colder again. Rain and drizzle covering the East Midlands, East Anglia and the southeast well into this afternoon.
00:26More showers coming into northeast England and eastern Scotland.
00:29But further west, skies are going to brighten up. Some sunny spirals this afternoon for Northern Ireland,
00:34Western Scotland getting a bit drier and brighter too across parts of Wales.
00:38But it is also turning colder with those winds coming in from the north or the northeast,
00:42feeling particularly chilly on some of those North Sea coasts.
00:46And the colder air will spread further south as we go through the night.
00:49But it does mean the rain and drizzle should clear away from the southeast, so turning drier here.
00:54We'll keep some showers feeding into Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk and down to the East Midlands.
00:59And showers will return to northern Scotland overnight with some snow over the hills.
01:05Much of central Scotland, Northern Ireland, southern Scotland dry and clear.
01:09And we'll see a frost here down into northern England as well.
01:12And rural spots will be a few degrees below freezing.
01:15Much of the south with cloudier skies here will just about stay above freezing.
01:19But it's going to feel pretty chilly on Tuesday morning wherever you are.
01:24So for Tuesday, well actually for many, the weather is looking fine and dry.
01:29Yes, it's going to be cold, but there should be plenty of sunshine.
01:32We are keeping our eye on these showers coming into northeast Scotland.
01:35Increasing chance of seeing some sleet and snow in these, particularly by the end of the day.
01:40And yes, even down to lower levels, so not just over the hills.
01:43The odd shower getting into southwest Scotland perhaps,
01:46and maybe just grazing the westernmost parts of Wales.
01:50A big chunk of England, Wales, Northern Ireland, southern central Scotland dry on a bright day on Tuesday.
01:55Plenty of sunshine around.
01:57Temperatures will stumble up to the mid to high single figures.
02:00It's going to feel pretty fresh again.
02:02They're pretty cold on those north sea coasts with a brisk wind here.
02:05But elsewhere the winds are actually going to be quite light.
02:08Quite quickly though, on Tuesday evening, we'll see the frost returning with those clear skies.
02:12And more of these showers coming into parts of the northeast will be increasingly wintry.
02:17So yes, even some sleet and snow possible over parts of northeast England.
02:20And that could turn things quite icy as we head through Tuesday night and into Wednesday.
02:25Wednesday, again, looking mostly fine.
02:27We've got this area of low pressure.
02:29That's where the winds are coming around it, bringing those showers down the eastern side.
02:33And also colder air coming in behind that as we head into Wednesday.
02:37So again, on the cold side.
02:39And then eyes down to the southwest.
02:41There's a bit of a mess of low pressure systems trying to bring milder air in,
02:45but also bringing moisture on these weather fronts.
02:48And where the boundary lies, well, that could provide some sleet and snow across parts of the south later this week,
02:55particularly through Thursday and Friday.
02:57A bit of uncertainty about the position and the track,
02:59exactly where the cold air meets the moisture to provide any snow.
03:04Something we're keeping a close eye on.
