27 November - National weather forecast presented by Alex Deakin.
Transcript
00:00It's going to be cold all week and there is the possibility of some snow in places as well.
00:06It's been rain showers that we've seen through Monday from this area of low pressure that is slowly pulling away.
00:12But another one follows in its wake in the North Sea keeping the winds coming in from the
00:16northeast and that means northeastern parts of Scotland may well start to see some winteriness on the hills
00:23overnight Monday into Tuesday, but perhaps even down to lower levels by the end of Tuesday.
00:28For many though the showers will just be of rain on Monday evening across eastern England plenty more of them to come
00:35but generally elsewhere turning drier the clearer skies across Scotland and Northern Ireland
00:39allowing a frost here could get down to maybe minus four minus five through parts of Scotland.
00:45But further south will keep some patches of cloud that'll keep the temperatures up somewhat
00:49so more like plus two or three here in towns and cities.
00:53Tuesday then is going to be a fine day by and large.
00:56We will start off with quite a lot of cloud over central parts of England and Wales with the odd shower here
01:01and we'll see more showers coming into northeast Scotland as I mentioned.
01:05Increasingly here those showers will turn wintry so certainly by the end of the day
01:09we could be seeing some snow to lower levels. Elsewhere though it will be rain showers and not many of them by the afternoon.
01:15I think many places just dry and fine with some decent spells of sunshine.
01:19The winds will be lighter on Tuesday as well, but still a noticeable and fairly chilly wind coming into these
01:26North Sea coasts and temperatures struggling a little bit below average for the end of November four or five Celsius at best
01:33maybe eight or nine down towards the southwest.
01:36During Tuesday evening the frost will return pretty rapidly where we've got clear skies still a few showers
01:42just greys in the east coast of Northern Ireland the west coast of Wales and these wintry showers increasing over
01:48northern and northeastern Scotland, but also perhaps just coming down into the far northeast of England some sleety snowy showers.
01:56Possible here certainly it will turn cold and frosty so it may turn icy wherever we've got any showers
02:02and it will be a chilly day again on a Wednesday.
02:05But again for quite a few of us expect quite a bit of sunshine could be some fog around early doors across parts of
02:11southern Scotland maybe southern England
02:13but that
02:14should tend to clear away and then again as I said plenty of blue sky quite a bit of sunshine.
02:18Showers keep coming into northern Scotland still some of them of sleet and snow in northeastern parts of Scotland.
02:23A few scattered rain showers for Wales and the odd one elsewhere, but most places dry and bright on Wednesday as well.
02:31But again look at the temperatures struggling three four degrees for many maybe seven to nine across the southwest and again with light winds in the
02:38sunshine, but those temperatures are below average as we head towards the last day of November.
02:45Let's look at the outlook because that is when things get quite interesting the cold air is in place and stays with us all
02:52week, but we do have to look down to the southwest for developments.
02:56There's a messy situation here with low pressure systems and weather fronts
03:00trying to push up at the same time trying to bring milder air.
03:04But they'll bring that moisture and if it hits the cold air
03:07that may well bring some snow for a time on Thursday and Friday across parts of the south.
03:12It is messy so there is some uncertainty about the position
03:15so do keep up to date with the forecast as we go through the second half of this week.
03:20And you can see our full week ahead forecast with more details on that on YouTube.
