00:00Hello, welcome to your national weather updates.
00:03Plenty of spells of rain on the way this week,
00:05often quite a blustery week as well.
00:07The satellite picture shows plenty going on.
00:10The UK covered in clouds earlier on.
00:12Then we have a bit of a window before another weather
00:14system in this lump of cloud before more weather systems
00:17follow on behind that.
00:18Slow pressure systems will dominate
00:21and they're all heading our way.
00:23But we're kind of between two weather systems
00:26for much of Tuesday.
00:27So in this window, something a bit brighter
00:30compared to yesterday, but there are still plenty of showers.
00:33And some of these showers likely to be
00:34pretty heavy through the afternoon over parts
00:36of eastern England in particular.
00:38For the west, that next weather system
00:40will start to spread thicker cloud and some outbreaks
00:42of rain into Northern Ireland and West Wales
00:44by the end of the afternoon.
00:46But in between, as I say, many places a little bit brighter
00:49than yesterday, better chance of seeing some hints of blue sky.
00:52It's quite breezy, but it is quite mild
00:54with temperatures in double figures across the board
00:57in a bit of sunshine, 14, 15, perhaps even 16 Celsius.
01:01With this next band of rain coming into Northern Ireland,
01:03the winds will start to strengthen.
01:05So a spell of wet and windy weather for most overnight
01:09with the winds really picking up later in the night.
01:11The rain spreading into Scotland,
01:13northwest England, western parts of Wales
01:16will be on the heavy side and bright colours
01:18there for a time before tending to ebb away by dawn.
01:22Clearer skies will follow, but the winds
01:24will continue to strengthen.
01:26Windy as that rain moves through,
01:28but then the winds picking up once more in the northwest,
01:30particularly gusty for a time on Wednesday morning
01:33over the west coast of Scotland.
01:35Very blustery conditions here could
01:38have some impacts on travel.
01:40The wet and windy weather will also
01:42make for a fairly mild night.
01:44Later in the night, we could drop down to mid-single figures
01:47across Northern Ireland.
01:48But much of the night, most places
01:50it will be high single figures, if not double digits.
01:54So we start Wednesday with strong winds in the northwest
01:56and outbreaks of rain across the southeast.
01:58That will gradually ebb away.
02:01Some showers will continue across Scotland
02:03through the day, very blustery conditions here,
02:05although the winds will steadily ease along the west coast.
02:08Very gusty conditions across the northeast
02:10well into the afternoon.
02:12However, some of the showers we hear
02:13will be falling as snow over the tops of the mountains,
02:16but rain at lower levels for sure.
02:19And heavy rain showers will zip through on that stiff wind.
02:23But again, many places will see some breaks
02:25in the cloud and some sunny spells
02:27for much of Wednesday afternoon.
02:29It will be windy, however.
02:31So although temperatures will again
02:32be generally above average, particularly
02:34in the east of England, with some afternoon sunshine,
02:3616 is likely.
02:38But it will feel a bit cooler because
02:40of that blustery wind, which will continue
02:42to be blowing in plenty of showers for Northern Ireland,
02:45Wales, southwest England as we head into Wednesday evening.
02:49In fact, forming into a line of rain here.
02:52That will be a weather front that
02:53moves through during Wednesday night and into Thursday.
02:57And so we continue the pattern with low pressure systems,
02:59throwing weather systems our way.
03:01This little feature needs watching,
03:02bringing a spell of rain across the southeast
03:04during Thursday night.
03:06And low pressure after low pressure, weather front
03:08after weather front, continuing to bring
03:10spells of gusty winds and showers
03:12through the rest of the week, just signs
03:14it might start to turn a bit colder
03:16as we head into the weekend.
