00:06Low pressure dominates the weather charts at the moment.
00:09This one bringing plenty of showers during Friday night.
00:12And this one will bring further bands of showers
00:15up from the southwest through the weekend.
00:17But between the two weather systems,
00:19there is a bit of a respite, a bit of a dry slot,
00:23certainly for much of England and Wales.
00:24Saturday will be mostly dry until this next system,
00:28as I say, brings further bands of showers
00:29north during Saturday night and on Sunday.
00:32And if we rewind the clock and take a look
00:35at where our air is coming from,
00:37the winds go anti-clockwise around low pressure systems.
00:40So when they're approaching from the southwest,
00:42it's withdrawing up air from the south.
00:45And it's really quite warm at the moment
00:47through parts of Spain and France.
00:49And that mild air will continue to waft in across the UK.
00:53So it is going to stay mild through this weekend.
00:55And the bands of showers will provide
00:58some sunny spells in between.
01:01And when the sun's out, it'll, as I say,
01:02feel pretty mild for the time of year
01:04during the course of the weekend.
01:06But there are plenty of showers around as well.
01:08And if we come back to Friday night,
01:10you can see one band of heavy showers
01:12working out into the North Sea,
01:14another one coming into Wales and Northern Ireland,
01:16extending across northwest England into southern Scotland
01:19by the time we start Saturday.
01:21It's fairly windy, but the wind's easing
01:24as we go through the early hours.
01:25And as we've already seen,
01:27the air's coming up from the south, so it's pretty mild.
01:29We're not going to start the weekend too chilly.
01:31It's 10 or 11 degrees Celsius.
01:34Much of England and Wales will start the weekend
01:35with some hazy sunshine as well,
01:37but it could be quite a wet start
01:39across the far north of England,
01:40certainly central and southern Scotland,
01:42Northern Ireland seeing a lot of cloud
01:44and outbreaks of rain on Saturday morning.
01:47A few showers across the northeast,
01:48quite misty murky around the coast here,
01:50but some brightness across the Western Isles.
01:52And it should cheer up through central Scotland,
01:54southern Scotland and the east of Northern Ireland
01:57during the day.
01:58Most of England and Wales will stay dry,
02:00but it will cloud over in the southwest
02:02with a few showers for Devon, Cornwall
02:04and parts of South Wales come the end of the afternoon
02:07and the breeze will start to pick up too.
02:09But for much of the day, it'll be a bit breezy in places,
02:12but generally the wind's a lot lighter than Friday.
02:15Temperatures similarly in the mid to high teens
02:18and in the south, we could get up to 19 Celsius
02:21in the hazy sunshine, so that'll feel pretty pleasant.
02:25More showers coming into the southwest though,
02:27and they don't stop there.
02:28They'll spread more widely across Wales
02:30into Northern Ireland, Northwest England,
02:32and eventually into parts of Southern Scotland
02:34during Saturday night and into Sunday.
02:36And then look at this, another band of rain.
02:38And this could be really quite heavy
02:40during the early hours of Sunday morning
02:42and then through Sunday,
02:43spreading more widely over Northern England,
02:45Eastern England, Northern Ireland,
02:47and then into southern and central Scotland.
02:50So the south of that, it'll brighten up for a time,
02:52but again, guess what?
02:53More showers coming into the southwest
02:55as the breeze starts to pick up.
02:57Again, when the sun pops out between the bands of showers,
03:00temperatures well above average
03:02for the time of year, 17, 18 degrees,
03:04and even across Scotland, 15 degrees is likely.
03:07So again, above average in those brighter spells.
03:11So it's a bit of a mixed picture
03:12through the course of the weekend.
03:13There will be bands of showers moving through,
03:15but it's always staying mild
03:16and it stays mild into next week as well,
03:18which is important, I guess,
03:20if you're on half term.
