03:11No longer waiting for Gary to come up with an answer, Kai enlightened his underclassmen.
03:17It's actually quite simple, we would have to be part of a bigger gang.
03:21Of course, just joining another one is out of the question.
03:25The underdogs could simply pay off whoever we go to to hand us out.
03:30As such, our only choice is to create our own gang that is bigger and more powerful
03:35than the underdogs.

03:44Gritting his teeth, Gary was annoyed at the fact that Kai was calling him a dog, but he
03:49had to put his emotions aside.
03:51What Kai was suggesting was crazy, for more reasons than one.
03:56The problem was, this crazy person could report him at any time.
04:01He held all the cards while Gary had none.
04:04Gary was smart enough to understand that threatening to reveal Kai's wish to leave the gang wouldn't
04:09help him in any way.
04:11Going against Kai would risk getting his family involved, not to mention he could simply deny
04:15Gary's accusation.

07:47was paying too much attention to what the coach was saying anyway.
07:51He was more preoccupied with the agreement he had just made.
07:55He didn't know when, but during their conversation on the roof Kai had somehow managed to slip

08:03A phone often used by gangs, they weren't digital like smartphones, and instead just
08:08had the normal physical dealing buttons with a poor screen display.
08:13He was also given a new number that Gary wasn't even aware of.
08:17I don't even know when he slipped it over to me.

08:21He only realized when in the middle of his walk, something started to vibrate in his
08:26pocket.
08:27On the screen there was a message.

09:37Blowing on his whistle, it was Mr Root's signal to cue in their surprise.
09:43At that moment, walking from the school playground onto the field were a group of girls, who
09:47were still in their school uniform.
09:50A couple of boys who looked to be from the years above were carrying a couple of benches
09:54around with them and placed them on the field for the girls.
09:58Immediately, Gary noticed that the new girl Exine was among the spectators.

10:09The very next moment, Gary looked down on the ground and started taking deep breaths.
10:14Tom might have only been jesting, but a teenage boy's hormones truly were no joke.
10:20Just thinking about the possibility, elicited some type of reaction in his pants.

11:16Tom was afraid of rejection in the end, and he didn't want to seem pushy, especially
11:21since Gary was his only friend.
11:24I think I'm feeling better now.
11:26Gary said, lifting his head up and his face slightly red.
11:30Tom sighed and wiped his forehead.
11:33Normally he would have had another snarky reply, but something was clearly off about
11:37Gary today.

12:08Unsurprisingly, nothing really changed now that the girls watched them.
12:13Eventually, after everyone else had failed, Gary, Tom and Brick were called up to be the
12:18defenders.
12:19Gary dragged his feet across the ground and didn't look up once, too afraid of what
12:24might happen if he caught a glimpse of X-I-N again.
12:27If he were to transform with all eyes on him the situation would be, disastrous didn't
12:32even cover it.
12:33Hey, what the hell is wrong with him, why is he walking so strange, one of the girls
12:39whispered from the sideline.
12:41I think he might have crapped his pants, another one made fun of him in a hushed tone.

12:49Does he want us to mistake him for grass, a third one badmouthed him.
12:53Even though they were a fair distance away from the girls, Gary could hear it all.
12:58He could hear his heartbeat, the boys and all the girls talking about the boys including
13:03him.
13:04Naturally, everyone had nothing but good things to say about Blake, but then something interesting
13:09caused Gary's ears to twitch.
13:11Hey X-I-N, as the new girl, who do you have your eyes on, one of the girls surrounding
13:17her asked.
13:19With X-I-N being the mayor's daughter, there were plenty of girls who wanted to befriend
13:23her.
13:24It has to be Blake, right?
13:26All these other boys are a bit immature and strange if you ask me.

15:46Blake attempted to get the ball, but as usual, an athlete like Blake easily avoided the grab
15:51leaving only Gary, who was now intentionally hyping himself up.
15:55BPM 130, BPM 135, BPM 140, his pulse didn't stop rising, and Gary wasn't trying to control

16:05Running forward, a large piece of mud with grass was thrown into the air, and Gary shot

16:53When the two landed on the ground, Gary was the first one to get up with the ball held
16:57in his hand.
16:58I got it, I got the freaking ball.
17:02Gary shouted with joy, holding in his hand a deflated ball that his thumb had managed
17:06to pierce through.
17:08Excellent.
17:09Mr. Root shouted.
17:11Now that's what I call a tackle.
17:14Congratulations, you're officially off the bench.
17:18Out of the corner of his eye, Gary decided to take a peek towards the girls.
17:23Most of them were saying horrible things about him for hurting the school's superstar, but
17:27he didn't care about their opinion.
17:30He was only interested to know what X-I-N thought about him.
17:34What a crazy good jump, the girl muttered to herself.
17:38Although this was in no way a direct compliment, it was nevertheless enough for Gary, for now.
17:43Maybe this werewolf thing isn't so bad after all.
17:47I will just have to learn to control it.
17:50Thirteen days until the next full moon.

18:58Gary asked, worried that he might have scratched him or broken a few bones.
19:04He had yet to find out just how strong he was in comparison to a human, something that
19:07he had not taken into account in all his excitement.

19:19He could see that Gary wasn't paying attention to him directly, for his eyes were aimed right
19:23past him, toward the girls who were leaving the field.

19:33The others got to work clearing the rest of the field, putting away the cones and the
19:37balls that would be used for practice.
19:40Tom was one of these helpers and he was also the one to have stumbled upon the very ball
19:44that Gary had taken out of Blake's hand.
19:47Picking it up, he noticed that it was completely deflated and when turning it around he could
19:51see there was a large puncture wound.
19:54One could have still been a coincidence, but the football had five going into the ball
19:58as if someone had pierced it with their fingers.
20:01First the desk in class and now the ball.
20:04Gary what the hell did you do?
20:06No, this isn't a movie or some book.

20:28Walking back home, Gary had a huge smile on his face.
20:32It had been one horrible day followed by one of the best days of his life he mused, but
20:36soon he was reminded by the troubles he still had to face.

21:06Bond mark, a bond mark is a type of marking you can leave when you have made a sincere
21:10promise with another party.
21:13Those that are marked are given a unique scent, allowing the user to track down the bond at
21:17any point in time.
21:19If the promise gets broken the marking will break as well.
21:23Those with a broken mark will automatically become hunting targets.
21:28Additional stats will be awarded if one manages to successfully hunt their target down.
21:33Gary grabbed the side of his head, cursing himself for not having taken advantage of
21:37the opportunity to mark Kai.
21:40Wait is the mark invisible, or at least something only I can see?
21:44Wouldn't that raise a ton of questions otherwise?
21:48Then he gulped as he thought about the second part.
21:52So does the system want me to kill them?
21:55Trying to forget about the negative side, Gary started to think about something more
21:59positive, and thought back to the game when he had snatched the ball from Blake.
22:04The quest gave me 10 EXP just for that alone, coupled with the 40 EXP I got for defeating
22:10those guys earlier means I'm halfway to a level up.
22:14Just what will happen once I reach 100 EXP?
22:17Will I just get stronger or perhaps I will gain an ability or a skill?
22:22Thinking about this, reminded Gary that he still had to try to complete the other quests.
22:28One of them was eating 2kg of meat a day, and the other required him to join the gym.
22:33With the prepayment from his old gang job he still had a wad of cash on him to go for
22:38the latter.
22:39I guess it wouldn't hurt to try it, he headed towards a high street gym and paid them the
22:43one day trial fee.
22:45He was ready to work out.
22:48There were a few people inside the gym that looked at him as he entered wearing his school
22:52clothes, making it clear to everybody inside that he had to be an amateur.
22:57What am I meant to even start with, did the system just expect me to come in here and
23:01start lifting?
23:03With a confused look on his face, it wasn't long until a friendly trainer approached him.
23:08He had a giant smile on his face as he rubbed his hands together.
23:13This looks like your first time here.
23:15I'm a personal trainer, so if you need any help I will give you the first lesson for

23:21It's ok I dash, no need to be so cautious, as I said the first lesson is completely free.

24:18Weight after weight was being put on either end, and soon the trainer was pushing away,
24:23while describing all the correct points.
24:26Is this guy really trying to teach me, or does he just want to show off in front of
24:30a newbie?
24:31Finally, the trainer stopped and allowed Gary to try, while he went around the back of the
24:36rack to help him in case anything was to go wrong.
24:39I've never even been to the gym before, how much weight can I lift?
24:44The trainer was looking at the weights on the bar that he still had, and also had his
24:48hands ready.
24:50He hadn't even removed any of the weight he had originally put on the bars.
24:54This kid, I can see he wasn't impressed by my bulging hard muscles.
24:59I guess he's never been to the gym before so he doesn't know how hard this is.
25:04When he tries to even lift the weight off the bar he'll soon understand, and I'll
25:08be there to pick the weight off him when he does.
25:11The trainer thought.
25:13Although it didn't look like Gary had paid too close attention, he had actually remembered
25:17each of the points the trainer made, and was now copying his starting position, arching
25:22his back slightly.
25:23Gary had copied the trainer to the point where he almost looked like a replica.
25:28Oh, this kid's form is pretty good.
25:31The trainer was surprised, wondering if Gary was just pretending to be new to this.
25:37Then, when trying to push the weight of the rack slightly, Gary could feel it budge only
25:41slightly.
25:43He held his breath and began pushing and pushing.

26:53Gary was elated and ran off leaving his stunned trainer there.
26:58Knowing that the system was giving him EXP for completing all these quests, using the
27:02money he still had, Gary decided to stop off at the supermarket.
27:07Here he grabbed 2 kilograms of meat, piled up in his basket, and it was time for him
27:11to complete the second daily quest.
27:14While walking though, he suddenly stopped.
27:17No, I can't just go and bring back the food.
27:21If I cook all of this and eat it in front of mum, she'll ask where I got the money to
27:25buy so much steak from, and they'll think I'm a monster for chugging down so much meat.
27:31Pulling the meat he had just bought out of the plastic back, Gary could see it through
27:35the cellophane plastic.
27:37The red blood that was dripping off the raw steak, the white marble areas.
27:42He never found raw meat apprising before but for some reason his mouth was just rolling
27:47at the sight of it.
27:49Looking around, he made sure no one was looking, and then stepped into an alleyway between
27:53two buildings.
27:55He soon found himself using his nail to pierce the plastic and the scent had immediately
27:59hit his nose.
28:01There was no second guessing himself, as if he was being controlled by something, his
28:06hand grabbed onto the raw meat and he took a big chunk out of it.
28:10Soon he found himself golfing all the food, ripping it through it with his teeth with
28:14ease.
28:15When all the meat was gone, once again the message had popped up.
28:20Daily quest complete, 10 exp received, naturally he wiped his mouth with the sleeves of his
28:25shirt which was now covered in blood.
28:28What the hell am I?
28:30No regular altered ever said that his instincts got the better of them.

28:37Gary lamented having accepted the job that day.

30:27Just one day ago he would have immediately refused to believe such lunacy.
30:31Unfortunately for the current him, it was an answer that would completely and perfectly
30:36explain all the strange occurrences today.
30:39If Gary hadn't brought it up earlier, it might have never even crossed his mind.
30:44As always, Tom was the first one to arrive home.
30:48His parents were both scientists working for some important company one hour's drive
30:52away in a tier 2 city and were therefore gone for most of the day.
30:57He was happy that their income allowed them to live comfortably in this middle class house,
31:02in their middle class city, although he wouldn't have minded seeing them more often.
31:07By the time they came home they were completely tired out, and working overtime and on weekends
31:12was unfortunately rather the norm than the exception.
31:16Tom worked extra hard at school to avoid ending up like his parents.
31:20His dream was to one day own a huge mansion in a tier 1 city, surrounded by beautiful
31:26maids who would cater to his every wish.
31:29Just like Gary, he saw becoming an Altered as a surefire way to end up living such a
31:33cozy life.
31:35However, unlike his best friend he was also very interested in the technical side surrounding
31:40Altered.
31:41Tom had clearly inherited his parents' curiosity, so he kept up to date on everything in that
31:46regard as well.
31:48Be it whenever new fossils were unearthed or any developments that might allow humanity
31:53to gain more Altered.
31:55Entering his room, it was filled with computers that Tom had hand built himself.
32:00There was more than one tower, and he also had multiple screens with tabs still open
32:05from months before.
32:07Sitting down at his desk, his hands were slightly shaking as his fingers hovered over the keyboard.
32:12If Gary really is a werewolf, and it's like in those movies and books, then on a full
32:17moon this could get very dangerous.
32:20He could end up hurting everyone, including his mother, his sister, or even myself.
32:26With this in mind, Tom knew what to search for and he started typing away.
32:31How to kill a werewolf.
32:33As usual the internet was full of contradicting information.
32:37Not counting the sites that claimed that werewolves didn't exist, others made them
32:41out to be just supernatural beings, most likely dog types Altered, which could be killed similarly
32:46to humans, it would just take a little bit more effort.
32:50However, this wasn't what Tom was looking for.
32:54He just wanted to find an easy method to verify whether Gary was one.
32:59The most common answer that came up was to use silver which was supposed to hurt those
33:03creatures to varying degrees depending on the source.
33:06He opened his drawer and pulled out a snake-shaped silver pendant his parents had gifted him
33:10on his last birthday.
33:13He had never worn it at school because he thought jewelry was a little too tacky and
33:17didn't really fit his style.
33:19Of course it's a snake, Tom thought as he looked around the room.
33:24During his childhood he had a phase when he had been fascinated by those cold-blooded
33:28reptiles and he had made that mistake of telling his parents exactly that.
33:33From that day on, all of his relatives, including his parents, bought him presents pertaining
33:38to those creatures.
33:40Be it snake posters, snake toys, or snake movies.
33:45Unsurprisingly, he had long since come to grow to hate them.
33:49Still, for once he was glad as he held the silver necklace in his hand.
33:54However, just that wasn't enough for him and Tom wanted something else.
34:00After a couple hours of research, he found something else that might work, though the
34:04opinions on that were very split.
34:07It was a hypothesis that since neither dog nor wolves could digest chocolate, the same
34:12was likely true for their werewolves.
34:15As dumb as he found the idea to be, it was the best thing he could actually test for.
34:21Rushing down to the cupboard, Tom opened it to only be disappointed.
34:24I better go out and get some then.
34:28Tom thought.
34:30It was a little late out at night, and he had heard his parents come home today of all
34:34days.
34:35They might be sleepy, but they wouldn't let him go out, unless he had a very good reason
34:39for it.
34:41It didn't take a genius to figure out, getting chocolate wouldn't cut it.
34:45This left him with no other choice but to sneak out via his bedroom window.
34:50It wouldn't be the first time climbing down to leave the house without anyone finding
34:54out.
34:55Fortunately, there was a shop that should have some not too far away, so Tom wasn't
35:00too worried, but just to be safe he still changed into a hoodie.
35:05During the day it was largely peaceful, but everyone knew that the city had many gangs.
35:10Once the son had said it wasn't uncommon to run into someone belonging to one of them.
35:15Covering his own head made him feel a little safer.
35:19It was just a short ten minute walk to the nearest convenience store, so he gambled on
35:23his luck to not encounter any.
35:26On the way he passed through an empty park, and then through a few back streets without
35:30a hinge.
35:31However, standing outside his destination there were a few older looking high school
35:36students wearing a black band around either their arms or legs.
35:40They were smoking and drinking alcohol, with their bikes on the floor.
35:45These low lives.
35:47Is this really how they plan to live?
35:50Just hanging outside a shop all day smoking and drinking.
35:54Good luck getting into university.
35:56For a second Tom made eye contact with one of them.
36:00What the hell are you looking at, man, one of the men uttered.
36:04You look at me like that again and I'll bust your lip.
36:07Tom didn't want any confrontation, so he quickly averted his look and practically rushed
36:12inside the shop.
36:14He went ahead and purchased quite a few large chlorate bars.
36:18As soon as he left the shop, he quickly started walking away ignoring the gang members.
36:24I hope this is enough chocolate.
36:26Tom thought.
36:27The question is, how do I get Gary to eat it without it seeming odd?
36:33Walking through the dark alleys back, with only a few lights lighting up the area, Tom
36:37was starting to feel nervous.
36:40It was dark and there was no one else around.
36:42Suddenly, he heard the sound of students laughing derisively and a few seconds later, a bike
36:48skidded out in front of him, blocking his path.
36:51I told you, no one looks at me that way and gets away with it.
36:55The one in front told him, while the ones behind him were looking forward to a good

37:56I just hope after a few punches he'll get bored and they'll leave.
38:00The one Tom had offended hopped off his bike, while the rest stayed on theirs, likely to
38:05catch up to him if he tried to make a run for it.
38:09Tom had resolved himself to his inevitable fate, so he gritted his teeth, clenched his
38:13hands and closed his eyes as he waited for the impact from the fist that had just been
38:18thrown.
38:19Instead, he heard a scream from the boy.
38:22My arm.
38:24You shithead, this had nothing to do with you.
38:27Who the hell are you?
38:30Opening his eyes, Tom saw the boy down on the floor, holding his elbow which appeared
38:34to have been broken.
38:36He was addressing a man completely dressed in black with a large trench coat, who had
38:41suddenly appeared in front of Tom.
38:43Me.
38:44I'm just someone who happened to pass by.
38:48This world has enough dangers that we humans don't have the need to be fighting amongst
38:52each other, yet here you are ganging up on a defenseless kid.
38:56You scum are the worst.
38:58The man answered.
39:00Since he was in front of him, Tom could only see that the man had long flowing hair and
39:04a solid body.
39:06Calling him tall would be an understatement, Tom estimated him to be well over 8 feet.
39:12As he turned around, Tom got a good look at his face.
39:16His savior had a scruffy beard, but overall good looks.
39:20It was as if he was staring at an older version of Blake.
39:24The other students who hadn't gotten hurt, got off their bikes and started to pull out
39:28weapons, with the one on the floor taking out a pocket knife.
39:32Don't worry about me, I deal with things a lot worse than these small time trashes
39:36on a daily basis, the man smiled at Tom, as he ran forward to one of the students with
39:41a bike chain.
39:43The boy panicked and lashed it out, but stepping away, the man avoided it and grabbed it.
39:49He then ripped the bike chain out of the other's hands, and swung it at the attacker's legs.
39:54Tom found it a bit ironic that the man seemed to have better mastery over the boy's weapon.
40:00Without taking a break, the man easily dispatched the others one by one.
40:05Without breaking a sweat he had simply knocked the pocket knife from the first boy's hand,
40:10before kneeing him in the face.
40:12Tom had to pinch himself, to make sure he wasn't dreaming.
40:16He even took a look around to check for some hidden cameras, but of course there were none.
40:22There was no one else to witness the six of them.
40:25It didn't take long and the man had taken out all four of them carefully.
40:29Go home kid, there are a lot more dangerous things in the middle of the night and you
40:33won't always be lucky enough for a good Samaritan to help you out, the man advised as he started
40:38to walk away.
40:40Who was that?
40:42Tom wondered.
40:44There was one more person who had snuck out from home, only in Gary's case it was a lot
40:48harder to do so.
40:50At least it should have been, however this time, he found it a lot easier to escape their
40:54apartment on the top floor.
40:57There was a lot more strength in his fingers as he grabbed onto the window ledges, and
41:01slowly went down until he reached the bottom floor.
41:05Even landing on the floor from his height didn't result in any pain to his feet or knees.
41:10Hee Hee.
41:12Gary smirked to himself.
41:14Maybe this whole werewolf thing does have more perks than I initially thought.
41:19The meeting place set by Kai was in front of the school.
41:23He would have usually changed into his normal black and red tracksuit when out, but that
41:27was also the uniform given to him by his gang.
41:31There was no reason to run around with a target on his back, instead Gary had grabbed some
41:35plain clothing, just a white top, and some black trousers.
41:40When Gary finally arrived, he could see Kai, standing there, staring off into the distance
41:45just as he had done on the rooftop.
41:48The only thing missing was the wind to make his hair flutter.
41:51From a distance, Gary noticed the other one still wearing his black and gold bolex watch,
41:56which just annoyed him even more, but also reminded him why he was here.
42:01I'm here just like you asked, so what's the job?
42:05Gary asked, getting straight to the point.
42:08Kai looked Gary up and down, and scoffed a little at what he was wearing.
42:12You got here a lot faster than I expected, seeing as I only texted you a short while
42:17ago.
42:19Did you already happen to be in the area?
42:21Kai questioned back and Gary just scratched his head nervously and nodded.
42:26Well, it seems to be a good thing, considering your current outfit.
42:31There's no way in hell, I'm letting you go like that.

42:36Kai threw a sports bag over to Gary.
42:39What's this?
42:40Gary asked.
42:42Opening it up, he found some clothing inside waiting for him.
42:46He was surprised to see that it was just his size, even though he had never told Kai
42:51that information.
42:53Have you already forgotten what I told you?
42:55We'll be making a new gang and today you'll be the one to represent us.
43:00I don't want us to be one of those poor gangs who wear hoodies and tracksuits and harass
43:04people.
43:05The first impression counts and since this will be our debut, you'll need to make yourself
43:10look a little nice.
43:12Gary looked around, looking for somewhere to change but the school was already closed
43:16and there was nowhere else.
43:18Seeing him hesitate, Kai pointed at the floor.
43:22It's nearly the middle of the night, so there's nobody to see you anyway.
43:26Kai pointed out as he tapped his foot impatiently.
43:30Gary wanted to argue that Kai was there, but the other's gaze made it clear that he was
43:34starting to get irritated.
43:36Unfortunately for Gary, he was depending on Kai and couldn't risk pissing him off.
43:42Although he didn't want to, Gary reluctantly got changed in front of the school into the
43:46new clothes that Kai had brought for him.
43:49Gary now had a small jacket over this white top, without a hood, yet with a collar that
43:54popped outward.
43:56The trousers were quite tight fitting, but in a material that expanded, and a matching
44:00pair of boots to go with it.
44:03In fact even though the clothes looked uncomfortable the material was very flexible making it feel
44:08quite nice on his skin.
44:10However there was one thing he didn't like, the colors, making him wonder whether it was
44:14his fashion sense that was off or Kai's.
44:18Perfect, you actually look half decent now.
44:21Don't look at me like that, you should know that every gang has something that symbolizes
44:25which gang they're from, Kai started to explain.
44:29Before you wore red and black and now you shall be black and gold.
44:34Trust me, with how many gangs there are, this was the best available color combo.
44:39Now that Kai had pointed it out, Gary noticed that everything that Kai was already dressed
44:44that way.
44:45The main color of his clothes was black, with the trim, outline and the small details golden.
44:51Unfortunately, your hairstyle still sticks out like a sore thumb, but we don't have the
44:56time to do anything about it.
44:58It's something we'll have to solve another time.
45:01Kai stated with a smirk as he jokingly made a gesture of cutting them off.
45:06At least Gary hoped that it was just a joke.
45:09The two of them did not move inside since the actual meeting place wasn't at the school.
45:14The destination was somewhere else, but no matter how many times Gary asked where they
45:19were going, after telling him it would be a surprise the first time Kai ignored his
45:23questioning.
45:24Eventually, they reached a car park.
45:28It was a bit away from the main shopping street and other places and it also looked a little
45:32run down, but Gary could tell from afar that it appeared to be quite lively inside.
45:38There were actually people hanging outside who acted as some sort of bouncers.
45:42The most surprising thing was that they looked to high school students no older than 18.
45:47Finally, following Kai, they entered an elevator and went ahead to the top floor.
45:53When it opened.
45:55Gary was hit with a wave of cheers and screams as if he had come to a rave party.
46:00What the hell is going on?
46:03Gary thought.
46:04Looking around, they were all high school students, some even still in their school
46:08uniforms, and what they were all cheering at was a fight happening in the center.
46:13This is an illegal fighting event, for high school students only, Kai explained, with
46:18a nasty smile on his face.
46:21Here's where the strongest students meet up and duke it out amongst themselves to decide
46:25who the top dog is.
