00:00In Venezuela, the re-elected president Nicolás Maduro called on the people to defend the
00:08country's peace from violence.
00:13The Israeli regime and the United States have dangerously raised tensions in the Middle
00:17East with the assassinations of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah's second most
00:22important commander, Fuad Chouk.
00:27And the government of Libya repatriated 369 irregular migrants to their countries of origin
00:32including more than a hundred women and children.
00:39Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra GarcĂa from Telesurf Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:45We begin with the news.
00:46In Venezuela, the re-elected president Nicolás Maduro called on the people to defend the
00:50country's peace from the violence that the Venezuelan extreme right wing wants to perpetrate.
00:55From the People's Balcony at the Miraflores Palace, the president asked the Venezuelan
00:59people to resume their daily and commercial activities since they will be safe under the
01:04watchful eye of the citizen security forces.
01:07In this sense, the head of state expressed his rejection of the intentions of the Venezuelan
01:11ultra-right wing and its U.S. allies to establish radical neoliberalism in the country through
01:17citizen violence.
01:18Also, President Maduro announced that in Venezuela there will be justice against the more than
01:231,000 people arrested by the security forces that provoked acts of violence in the country.
01:53And the working class will be united, working.
01:58In Venezuela, the re-elected president Nicolás Maduro Moros denounced the destabilizing plan
02:02of the international and extreme right wing that sought to create chaos in the country
02:07after the presidential elections held on July 28th.
02:09During a press conference, Maduro expressed that the country is in peace thanks to the
02:14measures taken in the face of the vandalism perpetrated by some groups financed and trained
02:19by the international extreme right.
02:21In this sense, the national president assured that the country will not fall into the hands
02:26of fascism and international imperialism.
02:29At the same time, he stated that if these events continue, he will call the people to
02:34a new revolution with different characteristics of the one that has been known in the country
02:39for 25 years.
02:42During a press conference, the president announced that he went to the Supreme Court of Justice
02:50to ask the electoral court to proceed to investigate everything that happened on July
02:5428th and after this date.
02:57I went to the maximum court of justice so that the electoral hall proceed to pronounce
03:08the resolution of Sunday, July 28th and to decide from the point of view of technical
03:22investigation and institutional and judicial and from the point of view of the Venezuelan
03:28laws to decide what happened on the 28th of July and after the 28th of July and to establish
03:37with clarity and legal sentence the definite results that made me winner of the election
03:49on the July 28th including all the steps of audits, all the audit steps that were made
03:58in Venezuela.
03:59There are 16 audits and all those 16 audits were made, all the audits were made.
04:08At the press conference, the president also demanded the release of all records related
04:15to the presidential elections.
04:17So I have demanded immediately the electoral court has all the diligence to obtain all
04:26the legal data of the National Electoral Council, all the investigations of the Attorney General
04:34and also to demand the information to the 10 presidential candidates one by one to
04:42the 38 political parties and ratified to the press today with this long introduction that
04:52the great patriotic Paul and the Socialist Unity Party of Venezuela are ready to deliver
04:59all the voting registers of all the 100% of the tables to this electoral court when it's
05:06demanded by the electoral court.
05:12Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro went on Wednesday to the Supreme Court of Justice
05:16and filed a writ of amparo before the electoral chamber of said court to validate the election
05:23of July 28th.
05:24There he was received by the president of the highest court, Magistrate Carizlia RodrĂguez,
05:29also president of the electoral chamber, to whom he handed the document.
05:33He did so in the company of the Attorney General of the Republic, Reinaldo Muñoz.
05:38The writ is for the electoral chamber to address this attack on the electoral process and make
05:44clear everything that needs to be clarified.
05:47President Maduro pointed out that 100% of the tally sheets of the past elections will
05:51be made available.
05:52He affirmed that he is willing to publicly present all the tally sheets of the votes
05:57cast in the elections, the results of which are disputed by the extremist opposition.
06:06It would be maybe the most criminal act till nowadays.
06:14I said it on time.
06:17Some people don't believe, didn't believe, because they say, see to believe, and as Saint
06:28Thomas said, bless the ones who believe without seeing, but bless the ones who see and believe.
06:38Let's be united, all, it is a criminal act, not only because of the violence, but because
06:47of the violence, but criminal for, as they search for criminals to attack, burn people
06:53alive, and burn the public sectors as health facilities to threaten life of the families,
07:04to burn markets and companies, vehicles, and attack their own people.
07:16This is all directed by a perverse and criminal group.
07:27The constitutional president of Venezuela ratified his willingness to collaborate in
07:31the investigation of the electoral chamber regarding his victory in the residential elections
07:36of Sunday, July 28th.
07:39And I have said that I am willing to be summoned, to be interrogated at all forms, be investigated
07:52by the electoral chamber as presidential candidate, winner of July 28th elections, and as head
08:01of state.
08:03I submitted to justice, and I have said beyond, as head of politics and leader of, revolutionary
08:12leader of Venezuela, and son of Commander Chavez, that the great patriotic Paul, and
08:18the United Socialist Party, is ready to present all polling stations, all ballots, and I hope
08:30that the electoral chamber does the same with every candidate and every party.
08:39On Wednesday, the Attorney General of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab, addressed the actions
08:43of the far-right groups seeking to tarnish the results of the July 28th elections.
08:48In this sense, William Saab pointed out that as they had been warning for months, there
08:53were plans of the extreme right wing to declare the election as a fraud after July 28th and
08:59begin with terrorist acts throughout the nation.
09:02On the other hand, William Saab pointed out that the public ministry is investigating
09:06each of these criminal groups, and assured that 20 subjects were apprehended for crimes
09:11that included attacks on military officials.
09:13Furthermore, he also emphasized that the far-right is using a structured group of organized crime,
09:19known as El Tren del Llano, associated to paramilitary groups.
09:22I want to give a preliminary report, a preliminary one, about the actions that I am mentioning
09:37there, all linked to the actions that I am mentioning there.
09:40Up to this moment we have arrested 1,062 people.
09:43If, some of them, according to previous investigations are proved to have no participations in these
09:49actions despite of being there, we have a justice system and fair trials so they will
09:54be released.
09:55However, those found responsible, as the ones I am showing, all of them are responsible,
10:02will be sentenced to many years of prison.
10:10On the other hand, the Attorney General ruled out the participation of social unions and
10:14student movements during the Guarimbas.
10:19In relation to what I am saying, I could highlight a breaking point in what they have tried this
10:24time.
10:30This time you don't see, no one can point out to me that have seen, in these Guarimbas,
10:39In these brutally negative actions, students, for example, or members of a trade union,
10:47Oregon a social movement protesting against an alleged fraud.
10:54International observers reaffirmed transparency in Venezuela's presidential elections as well
10:59as the effectiveness of the electoral system.
11:01The joint preliminary report highlights the normality of the electoral process in full
11:06guarantee of the citizens' right to vote in peace and in an organized manner for which
11:11they recognize the work of the National Electoral Council.
11:14They further praise the Republic's plan for thoroughly conducting the citizens' security
11:19and the custody of the electoral material without any kind of incidents.
11:23Likewise, they congratulate the Venezuelan people who, despite multiple pressures and
11:28interfering actions, gave an example of civility during the peaceful, orderly and transparent
11:34exercise of the right to vote.
11:36The Argentine and American Tourist Associations, the Chilean Human Rights Commission, among
11:41other organizations, denounced the siege of the Venezuelan embassy in Buenos Aires, which
11:45they described as an unacceptable violation of the Vienna Convention.

12:06Welcome back.
12:28Israel and the United States have dangerously raised tensions in the Middle East with a
12:32series of lethal operations.
12:34The assassination of Hezbollah's second most important commander in Beirut was followed
12:38on Wednesday by the execution of the leader of the Hamas-Palestinian resistance, Ismail
12:43Hanija, in Iran while he was attending the opening of the President Massoud Pesekian.
12:49Hours later, the US-led coalition struck Iraqi formations, leaving at least four dead.
12:55Following an urgent meeting of the Supreme Security Council in Iran, Supreme Leader Ayatollah
12:59al-Kamenei has vowed severe punishment against the Israeli occupier.
13:04Simultaneously, resistance movements in Iraq and Yemen declared themselves ready for combat
13:09against Tel Aviv.
13:17Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has strongly condemned the assassination of Ismail Hanija,
13:22leader of the Islamic resistance movement Hamas.
13:26The Palestinian President has considered the attack against Hanija, which happened a few
13:30hours after the Israeli assassination of the number two of the Lebanese Shiite party militia
13:35Hezbollah, as a cowardly act and a dangerous event at a time of maximum tension in the
13:41region.
13:48US Department Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel declined to offer an opinion on the Israeli
13:53airstrikes in Lebanon and reaffirmed Washington's support for Tel Aviv.
13:57Likewise, in the face of the Israeli aggression in the southern suburb of Beirut, the spokesperson
14:03assured that his nation is committed to diplomacy to avoid an escalation between the Zionist army
14:09and the Lebanese resistance, while the White House Spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre further
14:13refrained from speaking about the bombing and stressed that it is a war that can be avoided.
14:19The media reported that the action left martyrs and wounded,
14:23while rescue operations continue at the site.
14:31On the other hand, Egyptian foreign ministry condemned the Israeli assassination policies,
14:36including the head of Hamas, Ismail Hanija, and denounced the escalation of attacks by the
14:40Benjamin Netanyahu administration as a threat to provoke a general war in the Middle East.
14:46In this regard, Egypt also criticized the Tel Aviv regime's strategy of assassinations and
14:52violations of the sovereignty of other nations. The nation's government also called on the United
14:57Nations Security Council and the power to assume the responsibility and condemned the lack of
15:02progress in the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, which increases the complexity and
15:07indicates the absence of Israeli political will to de-escalate the tensions.
15:17On Wednesday, in East Jerusalem, residents decided to go on strike in rejection of Tel
15:28Aviv's genocidal forces, which assassinated one of the Hamas leaders, Ismail Hanija, in Tehran.
15:34The Hamas-Palestinian resistance disclosed it and warned that Hanija's assassination won't
15:40go unpunished. Furthermore, Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei assured to be their duty
15:46to find justice and revenge as he had been assassinated in the nation.
15:50Meanwhile, the Netanyahu government has stated no comments so far. In this context,
15:56East Jerusalem President Abu Ayad provided his regards on the current scenario.
16:10We are on strike because of the assassination of Hanija. May God have mercy on him and Israel
16:15should be smarter than that, because what is happening is not in the interests of Israel or
16:20the Palestinians or the whole world. This has caused a lot of problems. It's a message from
16:26Jerusalem to Israel, enough is enough. Even the Jews are tired, and so are we.
16:33I don't expect the situation to calm down because after Hanija,
16:37it will be the next person, and if they keep assassinating leaders, the problem will persist.
16:42So the solution is for Israel to make peace, for the Israeli people to decide to make peace.
16:48Once it makes peace, everything will be all right, but as long as there are assassinations,
16:53there won't be any peace.
16:57On Wednesday, the United Nations denounced the torture of Palestinians detained by the
17:01Government of Israel. A report published by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner
17:06for Human Rights stated that at least 53 Palestinian detainees have died in Israeli
17:11military facilities and prisons since October 7th. Precisely, the statement said that the
17:17causes of death include simulated drowning, sleep deprivation and electric shocks.
17:22Meanwhile, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk noted that Palestinians
17:28are held in deplorable conditions and received ill treatment and tortures as he also reiterated
17:35his call for the immediate release of all Palestinians arbitrarily detained by Israel.

18:06President of Russia Vladimir Putin held talks with Prabowo Subianto, President-elect and Minister
18:12of Defense of Indonesia to negotiate for a free trade zone agreement.
18:19We also expressed the hope that the agreement on a free trade zone between the Eurasian economic
18:23community and Indonesia, which is almost ready for signing, will also play a very positive,
18:28noticeable role in the development of our trade and economic ties.
18:32We consider Russia as a great friend and I would like to continue
18:41to maintain and enhance this relationship. The government of Libya repatriated 369 irregular
18:50migrants on Tuesday to their countries of origin, including more than 100 women and children.
18:55In this regard, Mohammed Barda, head of the Libyan Interior Ministry,
19:00announced that the measure is aimed at curbing irregular immigration,
19:03while giving details on the repatriation of 204 Nigerians and 165 Malaysians. Meanwhile,
19:11Barda also confirmed that the flights were carried out in coordination with the International
19:16Organization for Migration, which provides free-to-return flights for migrants and helps
19:21reintegrate them into their home countries. Libya has been criticized for its treatment of
19:26migrants and refugees, with accusations from human rights groups ranging from extortion to slavery.
19:38From the Office of the Body for Combating Illegal Immigration, we have two flights today.
19:43The first flight is carrying 200 for illegal migrants of Nigerian nationality.
19:48The second flight is carrying 165 people from the Republic of Mali.
19:53In Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda agreed on a ceasefire to
19:58take effect on August 4th. The decision is the result of the ministerial meeting on the
20:03conflict in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo that took place in Rwanda, the Angolan
20:09capital. The ceasefire will be verified by a mechanism to be set up for this purpose.
20:15The head of state and foreign affairs and cooperation of the Democratic Republic of
20:19the Congo, Derez Wagner, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Rwanda, Olivier Nugundrire,
20:25reached this agreement at the second ministerial meeting on the security
20:28and peace situation in the east of the Congo.
