00:00The Venezuelan Nuestra campaign command denounced the plans of the extreme right to declare
00:13electoral fraud.
00:18In the United States, partisan support grows for Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic
00:23Party experiences its biggest influx in small-dollar donations since 2020.
00:33And in Palestine, Israeli occupation forces ordered an evacuation of thousands in Kanjani's
00:38al-Mawassi town.
00:47Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:52To begin with the news.
01:05The Venezuelan Nuestra campaign command denounced the plans of the extreme right to declare
01:10electoral fraud.
01:11The head of the campaign command, Jorge Rodriguez, continues denouncing a blackout that has been
01:16unleashed on the activities of the candidate of the great patriotic Paul, Nicolás Maduro.
01:20The top leader indicated that the extreme right wing is trying to silence the reality
01:25of this process and to implement a sort of electoral April 11th with the objective of
01:30falsifying a reality that serves its destabilizing purposes.
01:35Jorge Rodriguez stated that they have an operations center in Miami and from there they will chant
01:40fraud in a presumed official transmission.
01:43Rodriguez ratified which are the true polls in this electoral contest.
01:53We denounce them here.
01:54We are publicly denouncing it.
01:56They have a base in the city of Miami.
01:58That base is being set up by the sister-in-law of Mrs. Magaly Meda, and that place is from
02:04where they are going to declare fraud in the afternoon of next Sunday, July 28th.
02:09And from there, of course, they are going to connect with what they call the official
02:12transmission.
02:13It is not the National Electoral Council.
02:16It is not even located in any city of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
02:22On Sunday, the president of the National Electoral Council of Venezuela, Elvis Amoroso, confirmed
02:27that 100% of the electoral machines have already been distributed across the country.
02:32Amoroso said so during the pre-dispatch audit in the venues of the National Electoral Council
02:38located in the state of Miranda in the center-north of Venezuela.
02:42On the preliminary audit, in which witnesses of political organizations attended, authorities
02:47verified the correct functioning of the communicational devices.
02:51Therefore, the president of the highest electoral body ratified that the stages of the ballot
02:56agenda for July 28th elections are being rigorously complied with.
03:08Venezuelan Ministry of Defense, Vladimir Padrino Lopez, received Monday the delegation
03:12from the U.S. Carter Center, which will participate as observers in the upcoming presidential
03:18elections on July 28th.
03:20Our special envoy, Juno Zunar, with the details.
03:24From the Hall of Honor, Simon Bolivar here in the Ministry of Defense in Caracas, Venezuela,
03:30where the Minister of Defense of Venezuela, Padrino Lopez, received an eight-person delegation
03:36of the Carter Center from the United States, a center founded by former U.S. President
03:43Jimmy Carter, which has a long history here in Venezuela.
03:46It has already observed and watched over seven different elections and referendums since
03:521998 and has confirmed the security of the electronic voting system in 2006 and an increase
04:00in citizens' confidence in the electoral system in 2012.
04:05So the delegation was welcomed by the minister with the warmest words.
04:11He expressed his content of them being here and said, actually, the Carter Center has
04:16made history already here in Venezuela.
04:19He described the atmosphere, the election atmosphere, as enthusiastic and full of joy
04:24and explained to the delegation the so-called plan of the republic, whereby the armed forces
04:30secure the electorates and election centers and the voting machines ahead during the election
04:36day and afterwards as well.
04:39Within that plan of republic, thousands of soldiers will be deployed to the voting centers,
04:44and some of them already are.
04:46But the official deployment will start on July 24 with an official ceremony to make
04:52sure that every citizen has security to go to the election center and vote and do this
04:59in a very easy, relaxed and secure atmosphere.
05:04In Venezuela, the inhabitants of the city of Valera in the state of Trujillo welcomed
05:08the candidate of the great patriotic Paul Nicolás Maduro with acts of support.
05:12During a meeting with the people of Valera, the presidential candidate reiterated that
05:17he will achieve a resounding victory in the presidential elections to be held next Sunday,
05:22July 28.
05:23Furthermore, he thanked the population for their unconditional support and courage and
05:28reiterated his commitment to preserve peace in the face of the pretensions of violence
05:33of the Venezuelan extreme right.
05:58To thank them for so much bravery, for so much patriotism, for so much strength.
06:14Trujillo I love you.
06:16I am Nicolás Maduro Moros, President of the People.
06:29And I say from Valera that we are going to win the presidential elections next Sunday,
06:34July 28.

06:47Welcome back.
06:48In the United States, the Democratic Party experienced its biggest influx in small dollar
06:53donations since 2020 as partisan support for Kamala Harris grows.
06:59On Sunday, following the news of President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the presidential
07:02race and his backing of Vice President Kamala Harris, instead, the leading Democratic online
07:07donation processor, AxBlue, reported that donors gave 46.7 million in small dollar donations
07:15through the platform.
07:16The funds weren't confirmed on Monday by Harris campaign's focus person, Brian Fallon, who
07:21said she raised US$49.6 million in grassroots donations following Biden's endorsement.
07:28The funds will help rebuild the Democratic campaign as big donors had paused their fundraising
07:33efforts in the weeks following Biden's alarming debate performance.
07:43From the White House in Washington, D.C., and during her first public address since
07:47Joe Biden's withdrawal from the presidential race, Vice President Kamala Harris highlighted
07:51the head of state's legacy.
07:54Joe Biden's legacy of accomplishment over the past three years is unmatched in modern
07:59history.
08:01In one term, he has already, yes, you may clap.
08:10In one term, he has already surpassed the legacy of most presidents who have served
08:15two terms.
08:17On Sunday, in an exclusive interview for our multi-platform Telesur, the leader of the
08:21social movement Bridges of Love, Carlos Lazo, gave details about Joe Biden's resignation
08:27from his presidential candidacy.
08:34Many people in the political environment of the United States expected that maybe Biden
08:38would withdraw because after the failed performance in the debate with Trump, it was bad news
08:43and bad news.
08:46The fact that today he announced his withdrawal from the campaign to support Kamala Harris
08:51creates a new dynamic in the United States and towards the elections.
08:54There was a lot of pessimism among the Democrats because there was little chance that Biden
08:59would win the elections, especially in the most important states, these states that are
09:05decisive for the presidency.
09:09And the fact that he is now withdrawing and the possible presidential candidate Kamala
09:13Harris gives a lot of hope to the Democrats and too many forces that are opposed to President
09:18Trump here in the United States.
09:21In the meantime, Carlos Lazo pointed out that the polls were not favorable for President
09:25Biden.
09:31Biden received overwhelming support from African-American women and African-Americans overall at this
09:36moment, according to the polls.
09:40There is some discouragement among these people, and it is not that maybe they are not going
09:44to vote or were going to vote against Biden, but that they were not encouraged to vote
09:47for Biden.
09:48They thought it was not worth it to go out and vote for Biden.
09:51However, when the same polls were made to these people about Kamala Harris, there was
09:56more enthusiasm, there was more intention to vote.
09:59So I think that in this sense, we can gather a part of this alliance that is the Democrats.
10:04This front that is created by the Democrats of African-Americans, Hispanics, migrants
10:10from different sectors, and it can have an impact on minorities and also on the population
10:15in general for this ground, for this idea of an African-American woman to be the first
10:20president of the United States.
10:24On the other hand, the international analyst, Ana Cesena, assured that this week is key
10:29to measure the consensus of the Democratic Party between Kamala Harris and Michelle Obama.
10:38I imagine that during the week, it will be clearer how far the consensus within the Democratic
10:42Party can go.
10:44There are other candidates who are strong candidates, and there is one who is not a
10:47candidate yet, but it is a figure that has been informally being talked about within
10:52the United States, that is Michelle Obama.
10:58Michelle Obama could be a candidate that if she meets the consensus within the party,
11:02she could have the conditions to dispute with the Trump-Vance formula.
11:07Michelle Obama has a lot of sway in the population, a lot of recognition, what is not sure yet
11:12is that she can really count on all the votes within the members of the Democratic Party.
11:18There are power issues at play and not so much the possibility of having the best candidate
11:22to defeat the Republicans nor what the citizens think.
11:26That is only half taken into account.
11:30But in reality, the definition will be marked by the internal power games among the Democrats,
11:34which are not easy.
11:38On Monday in Russia, residents of Moscow reacted to the news that President Biden had withdrawn
11:43from his campaign for a second term.
11:46In this regard, locals stressed their confidence in President Putin, whoever the new president
11:50is, and called for path to peace to be found.
11:55I think whoever the president there is, it won't affect us at all, because we are too
12:00strong a nation, our president is too strong.
12:04Whoever they choose, I don't know all the people who run for president there, it will
12:07not affect us in any negative way.
12:10I have too much confidence in my country, in the president of my country.
12:17Of course, I would like Russia, the United States and Europe to find common ground finally.
12:22We are all human beings and we all want the same things, peace, tranquility, prosperity.
12:47Welcome back to From the South.
13:10On Monday, the Israeli occupation army ordered an evacuation of thousands of Gazans from
13:15their lands.
13:16In this way, soldiers, on behalf of the genocidal regime of Tel Aviv, ordered the inhabitants
13:21of Khan Junis to temporarily evacuate the humanitarian area of al-Mawassi.
13:25For its part, the Zionist army also warned that the new exodus should be carried out
13:29immediately, alleging that numerous terrorist acts perpetrated by the Palestinian resistance
13:34movement Hamas have taken place in these areas.
13:38On the other hand, it was also known that in the last hours, Israel bombed more than
13:4235 targets in the region, leaving many dead and wounded.
13:51On Monday, the United Nations condemned Israel's army's latest attack on a humanitarian aid
13:56convoy bound for the Gaza Strip.
13:59The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, known
14:03as UNRWA, denounced that Israeli forces fired at least five times at United Nations vehicles,
14:10leaving no casualties as they were able to find shelter during the attack.
14:14It should be noted that UNRWA has condemned the occupation army for the killing of more
14:18than 100 United Nations workers, as it also demands accountability for those responsible
14:24for the death.
14:29The number of Palestinians killed by Israel in the Gaza Strip is on the verge of reaching
14:3340,000 victims since the beginning of the genocidal operation.
14:38In this regard, health authorities in Gaza confirmed that the Israeli occupation's attacks
14:43against the Palestinian civilians have claimed more than 39,000 victims and left more than
14:4889,000 wounded, most of them women and children.
14:52Meanwhile, they also announced that the Israeli attacks on Gaza have killed 23 Palestinians
14:57and wounded 91 in the last 24 hours.
15:01On the other hand, the civil defense announced that a large number of the dead are still
15:06lying in the streets and under the rubble.
15:14On Sunday, the Islamic Resistance of Iraq launched a new operation against Israeli targets
15:19in the occupied territories.
15:21In this regard, Iraqi Islamist reported in a statement that the operation was carried
15:26out in support of the Palestinian people and in response to the genocide carried out by
15:31the Israeli occupation army against civilians in the Gaza Strip.
15:35Precisely after the beginning of the genocide of the Zionist regime in Gaza in October,
15:40the Iraqi Islamic Resistance movement has attacked Israeli military targets, assuring
15:45that these operations will continue with increasing intensity.
15:56The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Ali Khamenei, expressed his support
16:00to President-elect Massoud Pesekin.
16:03The leader of the Islamic Revolution called on the parliament to give its constructive
16:07cooperation to the new government of President-elect Massoud Pesekin.
16:12Khamenei further stressed the role and determination of the parliament in circumventing the sanctions
16:18imposed by the West on Iran.
16:20Likewise, Khamenei pointed out that the situation in Palestine remains the first issue of the
16:25Islamic world and maintained his steadfast rejection of the indiscriminate bombing of
16:30the Gaza Strip by Israeli forces.
16:40In Nigeria, a new measure by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu authorized a wage increase of
16:45twice the current salary for civil servants.
16:48Regardless, the Nigerian National Labour Congress declared that the measure was insufficient
16:53and below the demand for a six-fold increase in wages, as the nation faces a severe cost
16:59of living crisis.
17:00Precisely, the current Nigerian government has been criticized for the removal of fuel
17:04subsidy and the unification of exchange rates, which has cost inflation estimated at 35.1%.
17:11Meanwhile, civil servants themselves insist that the wage increase to 70,000 Naira, equivalent
17:18to US$43, is not enough.
17:22But I believe it's not enough.
17:27It's not enough, not only to civil servants, but also to Nigerian populace as a whole.
17:34And I mean the 70,000 minimum wage, as it sounds, it's nothing compared to what they
17:42are getting.
17:44The minimum wage increments, considering the realities on ground, is not what should
17:52carry a civil servant or a public servant home, as the case may be.
18:10On Monday, the Olympic flame continued its journey through the Paris region in the Essonne
18:15department, just three days before the opening ceremony.
18:18In this sense, the 64th stage of the torch relay started in the town of Etames, famous
18:24as a royal town and a land of art and history.
18:27A total of 150 torchbearers will carry the flame over 26 kilometres and 11 municipalities,
18:34with the lightning of the cauldron at the Robert Bambin Stadium.
18:38On Tuesday, the journey will continue on Ives Lines before arriving in Paris on Friday
18:44for the opening of the Olympic Games, with the Seine River at its epicentre.
18:52Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron affirmed that his nation is ready to host
18:59the Olympic Games.
19:01In the meantime, just three days before the opening ceremony, Macron supervised with his
19:05Interior Minister GĂ©rald Darmanin the most confidential security elements, as he also
19:10committed to return to Saint-Denis, site of the Olympic Village.
19:14For his part, he emphasised that it has been years of work to ensure the success of the
19:19Five Rings event, which will be organised by Paris for the third time in its history.
