00:00In Venezuela, more than 1,100 boating centers have been set up throughout the country for
00:16Sunday's electoral drill.
00:18The Palestinian authorities, alongside the international community, condemn Israel's
00:24expansionist policies and its recent decision to recognize five new settlements in the occupied
00:29West Bank.
00:33And in China, heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding in Guizhou province submerged homes
00:37underwater, trapped residents, and blocked roads and highways.
00:44Hello, welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Televisual Studios in Havana,
00:58Cuba.
00:59Let's begin with the news.
01:12On Sunday, more than 1,100 boating centers opened in Venezuela for the electoral simulation
01:17that will take place.
01:18In this way, Elvis Amoroso, president of the National Electoral Council, detailed that
01:22more than 21 million boaters will be able to go to the nearest center to familiarize
01:26themselves with the boating system.
01:28On the other hand, Amoroso denounced that some presidential candidates do not recognize
01:31Sunday's simulation, disregarding the Constitution and the electoral laws.
01:36In addition, Amoroso invited citizens and international observers to participate in
01:41this event, which is part of the electoral calendar.
01:49Let's now go live with our correspondent Gladys Quezada for more information about the electoral
01:53drill from the main headquarters of the Bolivarian University of Venezuela in Caracas.
01:57Hello Gladys.
01:58Hello Luis, thanks for the time and also for this moment to report you from Caracas.
02:08Actually, as you were saying, we are here in the Bolivarian University, La Universidad
02:13Bolivariana, one of the many boating centers, over 3,000 boating centers that are opened
02:19today to allow this electoral drill.
02:24As you can see, the voters are coming here to the opening hours because the boating centers
02:30are opening at 8 a.m.
02:31So there is just a half past, only 32 minutes after the opening hours.
02:38And as you can see, there is a big affluence, a large turnout of voters here in this boating
02:44center.
02:45Here the people are coming, the voters, the citizens, and they are accomplishing the electoral
02:50protocols because first they have to show their documents of identification and afterwards
02:57they have to, of course, to do all the process of going, voting in the ballot box, because
03:04you know the voting is secret, so they have to go to that area that you are seeing.
03:09And afterwards they have to check back again their identity in order to have the evidence
03:14of the voting and to also compare and do crossing information regarding how many voters
03:21have come in here.
03:22In this center it is expected over 3,000 voters, 100, or I beg your pardon, 1,500 per voting
03:32table or voting ballot box.
03:35So every time the voters come in here, the authorities have implemented all the resources
03:41and they are checking the effectiveness of this process today because this is one of
03:46the methods for voting and also is part of the protocol observed ahead of the July 28th
03:54presidential elections.
03:55As you can see, every one of the voters have come in here showcasing and showing to the
04:00authorities their identity cards and also they have to give their fingerprint as all
04:06the evidence of their voting and the validity of their identification.
04:11Also as you know, today is one of the many, many days accomplishing the protocol because
04:18the registration phase of the candidates have passed last March.
04:22Also in April, where the registration process, afterwards all the candidates presented their
04:28program of government and the campaigning time, the proselytizing time starts on July
04:35the 4th.
04:36So today, 28 days ahead of the presidential elections is conducted or are conducted these
04:42electoral drills all over the country.
04:45We are in Caracas, but other voting centers and other states also are observing this part
04:50of the protocol.
04:52And as you know, this will allow all the authorities to perfect the system, to perfect also the
05:00materials and to oversee if all the protocols are observed and are accomplished in this
05:07voting process.
05:08All of this will allow transparency and will allow a better performance on July 28th with
05:14the presidential polls.
05:16Also as you know, there are international observers coming to accompany the process.
05:24These electoral international institutes and other authorities are coming in here to
05:29assess what Venezuela is doing ahead of these presidential elections.
05:34We recall the information.
05:36There are 10 candidates, nine of them of the opposition and one of them, Nicolas Maduro
05:41Moros, is the presidential candidate for the Socialist United Party of Venezuela, which
05:46is the main, is the core political force here in the country and also is the core political
05:52force in the great coalition of the great patriotic poll.
05:58All of this information, all of our audience can find it in our website and also in other
06:04platforms that we, as Telesur, have habilitated and have put on for them to get all of this
06:12data.
06:13And as you can see, this is one of those days that Venezuela is going to the polls again.
06:18This is the 29th election in over 25 years of revolution, and this is something that
06:25is not new for Venezuelan authorities and is not new for the Venezuelan voters.
06:31So this is it.
06:32This is the start of the voting day here in Venezuela.
06:34As you can see, I reiterate the information.
06:37We are at the university, the Bolivarian University, La Universidad Bolivariana, in the Chaguaramos
06:43locality here in Caracas.
06:45We will go to be here.
06:47We will be here giving you all the information.
06:50And this is it for now.
06:51So back to you.
06:55For this updated information, we're going to continue giving follow-up to this important
06:59day, this electoral drill that is being held in Venezuela today.
07:02But for now, we're going to continue with our news, and especially on this occasion,
07:06on the electoral drill, let's see some details of what it is about in the following brief.
07:14The National Electoral Council set up 1,174 polling centers to verify the operation of
07:20the computerized voting system.
07:25The 23 states of the country will participate in the event.
07:28In the capital district only, there will be 94 polling centers and 228 polling stations.
07:36Unlike on the election day, in this exercise, residents will be able to go to any polling
07:42station to familiarize themselves with the voting system.
07:46The drill invites more than 21 million Venezuelans to learn about the process for exercising
07:53their right to vote on July 28.
07:58In other news, on Sunday, nearly 15 million French people are summoned to the polls for
08:01early legislative elections, in the middle of a political crisis that may bring the power
08:05to the far-right.
08:06This way, the polling stations open at 8 o'clock in the morning local time, as the French citizens
08:11living abroad and in overseas territories started voting the day before.
08:15Precisely, citizens are called to renew the 577 deputies of the National Assembly after
08:20President Emmanuel Macron ordered its dissolution and called elections.
08:24The electoral race is led by the far-right organization National Grouping, favorite in
08:28all polls, followed by the left-wing coalition New Popular Front, the relegated ruling party
08:33Renaissance and its allies.
08:39Meanwhile, in the French territory of New Caledonia, borders gather ballots amid tight
08:43security measures.
08:44The inhabitants of Pouméa, the capital of the country, go to the polls for the French
08:48general elections, five weeks after the beginning of the independence protests that are shaking
08:53the French territory located in Oceania.
08:56For this order, there are prohibitions of meetings during the weekend, while the curfew
08:59has been extended until July 8.
09:01New Caledonia experienced intense riots after a constitutional reform bill that was going
09:05to enlarge the electoral body with residents who have settled in the last years and that
09:10was going to reduce even more the weight of the indigenous Kanak.
09:18And in Mongolia, over 2 million voters took part in the parliamentary elections.
09:22The ruling party won, while the opposition had a strong performance.
09:26The ruling Mongolian People's Party won 68 seats out of a total of 126, securing a majority.
09:32The main opposition party, the Democratic Party, obtained more seats than in the previous
09:36elections.
09:37When polls closed, the Electoral Commission announced a turnout of 69.3 percent, anticipating
09:42that it would reach 70 percent when the votes cast at the last minute and those of Mongolians
09:46living abroad were added.
09:50Therefore, for the first time in history, we have just elected 126 parliament members
10:03formed from various industries and different voices.
10:08Also, for the first time in history, five to six different political parties are going
10:14to be represented in parliament.
10:16This is a new page in the democratic debate.

10:46Welcome back.
10:52A bridge of communication has been built through music between China and Venezuela.
10:56Our allied media CGTN prepared the following material on the occasion of 50 years of relations
11:01between the two countries.
11:15My name is Xu Liang, and I am a teacher and resident conductor of the Jin Fan Symphony
11:19Orchestra of the Beijing 101 School, founded in 1988.
11:24The mission of the Jin Fan Symphony Orchestra is to provide students with professional training.
11:29The orchestra is not just an amateur club for children, but represents the highest level
11:34of student orchestra in Beijing.
11:37It promotes aesthetic education in primary and secondary schools throughout the city.
11:43The role of music is to help people perfect or find their soul.
11:48This is my perception.
11:58I have been involved in music since I was in third grade, almost nine years ago.
12:05When you practice a piece every day, the piece accompanies you.
12:09Little by little, you get closer to the personality of the composer, to his character, to the
12:14spirit and the ideas he transmits.
12:16He said, if you were communicating with the composer through time and space, that makes
12:23me very happy.
12:28According to Xu, the orchestra updates three-fifths of its repertoire every year.
12:35Besides practicing Western symphonic classics, as an all-Chinese orchestra, the students
12:41also perform Chinese classics.
12:54We tell Chinese stories with Western instruments, so we also rehearse classics with revolutionary
12:58themes.
12:59For example, Red Detachment of Women, The Piano Concerto, The Yellow River, or Old
13:05to the Red Flag, our repertory is a combination of Western and Chinese music.
13:11In May of this year, we are holding a concert in which we will perform mainly Chinese pieces.
13:18After talking to the Venezuelan musicians last year, we felt that their encore was very
13:22good, an American piece of music called Mambo, very fun and classical.
13:29We are going to play this piece as an encore.
13:32This is the consensus that came out of our exchange.
13:36International musical exchanges can often inspire new ideas.
13:39November last year, Venezuela's SimĂłn BolĂvar Symphony Orchestra went to the 101th School
13:46in Beijing to perform the first movement of Braham's No. 4 Symphony in E minor with the
13:53Gene Fenn Symphony Orchestra.
13:59The director of the Venezuelan Oboe talked to me.
14:02I played him a piece I was practicing, and he gave me some instructions.
14:06Since these exchanges, we have become closer friends.
14:14The Venezuelan musicians are young, only a few years older than us.
14:18I feel that they love music from the bottom of their hearts, and I hope to work with them
14:23again, either on stage or in other ways, so that we will have emotional and spiritual
14:30resonance.
14:32I also wish to have the opportunity to go to Venezuela to perform Chinese music.
14:42The impression I got from Venezuela is that they are very enthusiastic.
14:46Their conductor seems to be young, in his 30s, but when he conducts, he is very passionate
14:51and can drive the whole orchestra.
14:53It is something very valuable for our students to learn from him.
14:57Music is a bridge between two countries.
14:59We can communicate through musical understanding.
15:02The most famous conductor in Venezuela is Gustavo Dudamel, who was the music director
15:07of the SimĂłn BolĂvar Symphony Orchestra, and he is one of the best conductors in the
15:11world.
15:12If our kids have the opportunity to communicate with masters of that level, it would be very
15:17beneficial for them.
15:18I welcome more Venezuelan artists to come to China for the changes, and I would be very
15:23happy if they would also come to the 101 School as guests.
15:31In Bolivia, the Anti-Corruption Courtroom ordered preventive detention for three former
15:35chiefs of the armed forces accused of participating in the attempted coup d'Ă©tat of last Wednesday,
15:39June 26.
15:40The Court of Anti-Corruption and Violence against Women of Bolivia was in charge of
15:44the Procedural Act, in which the former military members were judged for the crimes of terrorism
15:48and armed uprising.
15:50The indicted are the former commander of the army, Juan José Zúñiga, and the former
15:54commanders of the Navy and Mechanized Division of VIACHA, Juan Arnés and Edisol Hiraola.
15:58The preventive detention will be implemented for six months in the maximum security prison
16:03of Chonchocoro, in La Paz.
16:09During an interview with the U.S. media outlet, Bolivian President Luis Arce denounced that
16:13the military coup plotters intended to place one of the former commanders as President
16:17of the Republic.
16:18The intention was to take over the government, to be president, if you will.
16:29This contradicts the statement, which I believe is skillfully used to give an argument to
16:33the opposition, and that they will precisely try to put that issue in the minds of Bolivians.
16:42In Mexico, President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum spoke out in defense of the Mayan train project
16:46and qualified it as unique in the world and of great importance for the country.
16:51In an event led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Sheinbaum highlighted that
16:54the Mayan train is a symbol of Mexico's deep history and vindicates the indigenous peoples
16:59of the present.
17:00She also defended the fact that the development of this project provides labor benefits to
17:04Mexican workers who are participating in its construction.
17:08Furthermore, Sheinbaum added that while in the past the train service was privatized,
17:12in the fourth transformation the role of the Mexican state was recovered.
17:21There is embedded meaning in the great infrastructure.
17:23It is a symbol of transformation, turning the patient the unsustainable neoliberal model
17:31that caused so much damage to the nation and so much suffering to our people, while
17:37in the past the railroads were privatized, which meant the end of the passenger train.
17:43With this present transformation, the role of the state is reinstated.

18:08Welcome back.
18:30On Sunday, Palestinian authorities, governments in the region and regional blocs condemned
18:34Israel's expansionist policies and its recent decision to recognize five new settlements
18:39in the occupied West Bank.
18:40This way, they rejected the plan announced by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich
18:45to recognize new settlements and build thousands of homes in the so-called West Bank.
18:49In this regard, Egypt, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, in addition to the European
18:53Union, the Arab League and the Gulf of Corporation Council, condemned these expansionist actions
18:59in violation of international law.
19:01More than 250,000 Jewish settlers live in occupied Israel's settlement and another
19:08500,000 in the rest of the occupied West Bank.
19:16Israel has intensified its bombardment of Palestinian civilians.
19:19Their attacks left several people killed in Gaza City as the humanitarian crisis deepens.
19:24Palestinian news agency Wafaa reported that at least eight people were killed, including
19:29women and children, after Israeli aircraft attacked a family home in the al-Sabra neighborhood.
19:34It's been reported that the attacks started early Saturday morning and that artillery
19:37hit homes in the Shuhaya neighborhood.
19:40Meanwhile, the al-Mawassi area, labeled as humanitarian zone by Israel, was again targeted
19:44by Israeli artillery, hitting makeshift shelters and agricultural greenhouses, leaving multiple
19:49casualties.
19:50Last night, a house next to the medical center was bombed, causing serious damage to this
20:01center.
20:02The pharmacy, ophthalmology department and emergency room were completely destroyed.
20:07Nothing is left but debris.
20:11We were at home when we got a phone call instructing us to evacuate the house in five minutes without
20:16taking any belongings and without any prior warning.
20:19I tried to keep him on the phone as long as possible so I can get everyone out of here.
20:23We had 40 displaced here from Wafaa.
20:25My relatives are all here.
20:42In China, heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding in Guizhou province submerged homes underwater,
20:46trapped residents and blocked roads and highways.
20:49The government on Saturday afternoon raised the flood emergency response in the southwestern
20:54part of the country to level 2 after the water level of the Wuyihan River rose 0.5 meters
20:59above the warning line.
21:00Rescue efforts and evacuation of residents as well as the search for possible missing
21:04people began in several counties.
21:06Local authorities sent workers and machinery to clear the roads that were blocked by mud,
21:10rocks and trees.
21:18And in Hungary, in downtown Budapest, devotees of the Hare Krishna Hindu movement celebrate
21:22the Shariat Festival, their largest annual celebration.
21:25Despite the heat, people gather to sing and dance alongside a huge hand-drawn decorated
21:30card.
21:30This celebration originated in the Indian city of Puri around Bengal Bay dating back
21:34to thousands of years.
21:36Nowadays, the festival is held not only in India but all over the world thanks to the
21:40International Society for Krishna Consciousness, best known as the Hare Krishna Movement.
21:44During the celebration, devotees carry the special representation of the Krishna deity
21:48known as Jagannath or the Lord of the Universe.
21:51Devotees taking part in the festivity believe they are cleaning their karma from negativity
21:56brought on by past actions.
22:03This Shariat Festival brings people together.
22:06The music, also the dance and the cheerful celebration hand in hand, it can bring people
22:13closer.
22:14I think that in today's world, it is a shortcoming that we tend to keep our distance.
22:21We don't know each other and we have become strangers.
22:28We have come to the end of this news brief.
