00:00Sir Handel in charge. Sir Handel is one of the oldest engines in the hills of Sodor.
00:14He knows a lot of things and sometimes he can be rather grand. He enjoys telling the
00:24other engines what to do. And because he is a wise engine, the other engines do as he
00:32tells them.
00:37One morning Sir Handel puffed into the transfer yacht. James was waiting.
00:44I have to take the thin controller to a meeting with the fat controller, snorted James.
00:52Just then Mr. Percival arrived. He was late and he was worried.
00:57Sir Handel gasped Mr. Percival. There's an important special today. I'd like you to be
01:04in charge of it while I'm away.
01:06Yes sir, chuffed Sir Handel happily. He liked the idea of being in charge. Now he could
01:14tell the other engines what to do.
01:16Workmen must be picked up and taken to the forest, Mr. Percival said.
01:21Sir Handel was excited.
01:24The trucks must be taken to the forest and filled with logs, added Mr. Percival. Then
01:29the heavy train must be delivered back here. Thomas is coming to collect it very soon.
01:35I'll find the very best engines, puffed Sir Handel.
01:39Ask the first engines you see to do the special, said the thin controller sternly.
01:45Sir Handel wasn't listening. He was thinking about telling the other engines what to do.
01:52The job must be done very quickly, cried the thin controller.
01:56Don't worry, Sir Handel hooted proudly and he puffed away.
02:10I'm going to have a wonderful time, he whistled to himself.
02:15Up ahead, Sir Handel found Mighty Mac. He was helping workmen to lay the new track.
02:23I'm in charge of a very important special. I need an engine to pull a heavy train, Sir
02:29Handel chuffed.
02:30We can pull a heavy train, wheesh Mighty. We're very strong, whistled Mac.
02:37But Sir Handel wasn't listening.
02:40I must find the very best engines. You must wait here, he puffed grandly.
02:46And he steamed off.
02:53Next, Sir Handel found Rusty.
02:56I'm in charge of a very important special. I need someone to pick up workmen, he puffed
03:04importantly.
03:05Rusty was very excited.
03:07I can collect the workmen, he hooted happily. But Sir Handel wasn't listening.
03:14I must find the very best engines, he huffed. Wait here.
03:21Then Sir Handel found Duncan and Peter Sam. They were racing down some twisty tracks.
03:30I'm in charge of a very important special. I need a fast engine to take a train to Thomas
03:37at the Yards, chuffed Sir Handel importantly.
03:40We can pull trains faster than any other engine, Duncan and Peter Sam puffed excitedly.
03:47But Sir Handel wasn't listening.
03:50I must find the very best engines, Sir Handel steamed snootily. You must wait here.
03:58So the little engines pulled into a siding.
04:03Sir Handel felt more important than ever.
04:10Then there was trouble. Sir Handel arrived back at the Transfer Yards.
04:16Thomas had already arrived to collect the special.
04:20Where's my train? tooted Thomas.
04:23Bust my buffers! cried Sir Handel.
04:26Sir Handel had spent so long looking for the very best engines, nothing had been done.
04:33Now he was very worried.
04:36Your special isn't ready, he wished sadly to Thomas.
04:40Thomas was surprised.
04:42Can you find engines to start work right away? he tooted.
04:46Then I can still deliver the special on time.
04:49This time Sir Handel was listening very carefully.
04:53He knew where all the engines were waiting.
04:56If I hurry, I can put the engines to work right away.
05:00Leave it to me, Thomas, he chuffed.
05:03And Sir Handel raced out of the yards.
05:07Sir Handel steamed over to Duncan and Peter Sam.
05:12Can you work on my special? he asked.
05:15We can pull the train along the twisty tracks to the forest, peeped Peter Sam.
05:20Faster than anyone, added Duncan.
05:23This time Sir Handel was listening.
05:26Please start straight away, he wished, and he raced off to find Rusty.
05:36Rusty was still where Sir Handel had told him to wait.
05:41I can collect the workmen, hooted Rusty, and take them to load the timber.
05:47Please start straight away, Sir Handel huffed.
05:55Finally Sir Handel found Mighty Mac.
06:00We can pull the heavy timber train to the transfer yards, wheezed Mighty.
06:05We're the strongest, whistled Mac, and they steamed off.
06:12Sir Handel had listened carefully to everyone.
06:16Now everyone was working.
06:19The special will be ready for Thomas after all, he huffed.
06:27Later at the transfer yards, Thomas's trucks had been loaded with the timber.
06:34Just then, James returned with the thin controller.
06:38Well done, Sir Handel, said Mr. Percival.
06:42Did you enjoy being the engine in charge?
06:45Yes, Sir, chuffed Sir Handel.
06:48He felt very happy.
06:51He had listened to the other engines, and now he was even wiser.
