00:05It was winter time and a thick blanket of snow covered the island of Sodor.
00:12Madge, the snub-nosed lorry, was making her deliveries.
00:16The icy roads were very slippy and very slidy.
00:22But Madge didn't slip and slide. She was safe and sure.
00:29One day, Thomas arrived at the transfer yard.
00:33He had to collect a large delivery of coal.
00:37Madge was there and so was the thin controller. He was worried.
00:42A snow slide has blocked Duncan's tracks, he said.
00:46I need him to shunt the coal trucks from the other side of the yard.
00:50I'll get him, said Madge happily.
00:53Madge liked to be helpful.
00:55Duncan is very heavy, said the thin controller.
00:59Don't worry, sir, said Madge. I'll bring him here in no time.

01:11Duncan was winched on to Madge's trailer.

02:48So Madge sprayed snow all along the road.
02:53Duncan cheered as Madge sprayed the trees and then the bushes.

03:00Sorry, said Madge.
03:03They were having so much fun,
03:06they had forgotten all about getting to the transfer yards.

03:15and so were the coal trucks.
03:17But Duncan wasn't there.
03:20The thin controller was worried.
03:24Now, Madge took Duncan to the top of a hill.
03:30What are we doing up here? Duncan puffed.
03:34You'll see, smiled Madge.
03:39Then they raced down the hill.
03:43Madge slid around corners and skidded over bumps.
03:49Hooray! Duncan laughed.
03:53But halfway down the hill there was a very sharp turn
03:57and the road was very icy.

04:02Oh no, gasped Madge.
04:05She braked hard but it was too late.
04:10Madge started to slip
04:14and spin around and round.
04:19They crashed through a snowbank.
04:22But my boiler, cried Duncan.
04:27They were hanging over the edge of the valley.
04:31Madge looked down the edge.
04:34It was a long way down.
04:37Oh no, Duncan moaned.
04:41What am I going to do, Madge groaned.
04:45Madge rocked and teetered.
04:48Slowly she revved her engine.
04:54Inch by inch, Madge reversed back onto the road again.
05:01Phew, that was close, Duncan chuffed.
05:08Madge raced to the transfer yards.
05:12But on the way she saw another very bumpy and very slippery road.
05:18That looks like fun, Duncan puffed excitedly.
05:22We're late, called Madge.
05:25I have to get you to the transfer yards to help Thomas.
05:29So Madge drove on.
05:35Madge wanted to be safe and sure.
05:39She went all the way without slipping or sliding once.
05:45Duncan was disappointed.
05:48But he knew Madge was right.
05:51He had work to do.
05:55Soon Duncan was back on the rails.
05:58He shunted the trucks quickly into place.
06:04The workmen transferred all the coal into Thomas' trucks.
06:09Thank you, Duncan, tooted Thomas.
06:13And he chuffed away.
06:16That evening, Madge went to visit Duncan.
06:21Madge pulled into the shed.
06:25All the little engines were there.
06:28Duncan had told them all about his day out with Madge.
