00:00Thomas and Skarloey's big day out.
00:06It was a beautiful bright summer on the island of Sodor.
00:13Thomas the Tank Engine was taking passengers to the seaside.
00:18In the summer holidays, Thomas went there nearly every day.
00:25One morning, the Fat Controller came to see Thomas.
00:29I have an important special for you, he said.
00:33I need you to take some steel pipes to the wharf.
00:38Thomas was delighted.
00:41There were lots of sights to see on the way to the wharf.
00:47First, Thomas passed the Scottish Castle.
00:54Next, he went through Shen Valley.
01:00And finally, he looked at the wonderful view from the top of Gordon's Hill.
01:10But when Thomas arrived at the wharf, he saw Skarloey.
01:15Skarloey looked very sad.
01:19He had broken down.
01:21There's no one to take me to the Mender's Yard, Skarloey chuffed.
01:26Maybe I can take you, puffed Thomas.
01:30Please, sir, Thomas asked the Thin Controller.
01:33Can I take Skarloey to the Mender's?
01:36Skarloey is very heavy, said the Thin Controller.
01:40I'm sure I can pull him, puffed Thomas, and I've finished all my other jobs.
01:47Very well, said the Thin Controller.
01:50But you must go straight there.
01:53Yes, sir, whistled Thomas.
01:55The coupling on the flatbed is old, so take care, he added.
02:01So Skarloey was loaded onto the flatbed.
02:06Skarloey was sad.
02:08I don't like going to the Mender's, he puffed.
02:12Thomas wanted to cheer Skarloey up.
02:15I'll show you some wonderful new sights.
02:18Sights you never see in the mountains, chuffed Thomas cheerfully.
02:23This will be your big day out.
02:27And Thomas puffed away, pulling his friend carefully behind him.
02:37So Thomas didn't take Skarloey straight to the Mender's.
02:46He puffed through the farms and forests.
02:53Until they arrived at the Scottish Castle.
02:57There, puffed Thomas proudly.
03:00Isn't it wonderful?
03:02It's very nice, chuffed Skarloey.
03:06But we have a castle in the mountains.
03:09Then I'll show you Shen Valley.
03:13I'll show you Shen Valley, puffed Thomas.
03:21Thomas and Skarloey puffed through the flowery fields and the green meadows of Shen Valley.
03:29There, whistled Thomas grandly.
03:33It's very nice, chuffed Skarloey.
03:36But we have green valleys in the mountains.
03:40Thomas felt sad.
03:42He wanted Skarloey to have a big day out.
03:48He had to find something that Skarloey had never seen before.
03:54I know, puffed Thomas.
03:57I'll show you the view from the top of Gordon's Hill.
04:05So Thomas huffed and puffed up Gordon's Hill.
04:10Skarloey was very heavy.
04:13The old flatbed coupling creaked and groaned.
04:18But still Thomas huffed and chuffed as hard as he could.
04:25Then there was trouble.
04:27Just as he got to the top of the hill, the coupling came loose.
04:32And Skarloey rolled backwards.
04:36Help, cried Skarloey.
04:39But it was too late.
04:42Skarloey's flatbed biffed into the sidings and came off the track.
04:58Oh no, moaned Thomas.
05:01The thing controller told me to go straight to the Mender's Yard.
05:05But I wanted to give you a big day out.
05:08Now look what's happened.
05:11Thomas was very unhappy.
05:16So Thomas's driver coupled him up again to the flatbed.
05:20Thomas pulled Skarloey and the flatbed carefully back onto the tracks.
05:26And they set off for the Mender's Yard.
05:30Thomas didn't try to show Skarloey any more sights.
05:34He puffed as fast as he could to do his job.
05:45The fastest way to the Mender's Yard was the track by the seaside.
05:51Thomas had to stop at a signal.
05:54Skarloey looked out at the sea and the sand.
05:58There were sandcastles, donkey rides and children eating ice cream.
06:03It looked marvellous.
06:06It's wonderful, gasped Skarloey.
06:10I've never seen anything like that before.
06:14Skarloey was so excited it made his axles tingle.
06:20Thomas was surprised and delighted.
06:24I see the beach almost every day, he tooted happily.
06:30Thomas took Skarloey to the Mender's.
06:33I'll wait and take you back, tooted Thomas.
06:37Thank you, wished Skarloey.
06:42When he was mended, Thomas took Skarloey to look at the beach once again.
06:48This is the best big day out ever, puffed Skarloey.
06:54Thomas was delighted.
