00:00Gone fishing. There are many cranes on the island of Sodor, great big cranes that always
00:10stay in one location. Like Merrick, up at the Blue Mountain Quarry. And Cranky, down
00:20at Brendam Docks. There are also cranes like Rocky, who can be shunted to wherever there
00:28is work to be done. But there is one crane who can make his own way to where he is needed.
00:36And that's Harvey, the crane engine. If there's heavy cargo that needs lifting, Harvey is
00:45just the engine for the job. One day, Harvey was loading flatbeds at Brendam Docks, where
00:54the Fat Controller's new engine, Porter, was working. Harvey had never met Porter before,
01:02and Porter had never seen a crane engine.
01:06Hey there, you're a really useful engine. Or should I say, you're a really useful crane.
01:15I'm a crane engine, so you can say either, I suppose.
01:22Then I suppose you must be doubly useful. Pleased to meet you. My name's Porter.
01:28A pleasure. My name's Harvey.
01:31Oh, look, Ben. It's Harvey. What's he doing down at the docks? He's probably trying to
01:41go fishing, Bill. Better put your hook in the water, Harvey, if you want to catch something.
01:48Oh, they're always teasing like that. Don't mind them, Porter.
01:56I won't.
01:58Then there was trouble.
02:01Oh, watch where you're going, Bumpy Boiler. Bumpy Boiler. Because of his three domes.
02:12That's a good one.
02:17I guess I am a Bumpy Boiler.
02:20See what I mean? They're always saying teasy things.
02:24It's OK, Harvey. I'm proud of my three domes. I find them very useful. It doesn't matter
02:30what anyone else says. They're what makes me special. Besides, water off a duck's back.
02:38What's that mean?
02:39It means I don't let it bother me. I just let what they say slide out of my mind, the
02:46way water slides off a duck's back.
02:50Oh.
02:51Later, Harvey had loaded all the flatbeds ready to be taken to Vicarstown.
02:59OK, that's it. This cargo's ready to go. Edward was supposed to pull this load of machinery,
03:10but he's been delayed. We'll have to find another engine.
03:14Oh, how about Bill and Ben? They're not doing anything.
03:17Oh, we just remembered. We have to get back to the clay pits right away. That's right.
03:26We have such a lot of work to do, you wouldn't believe it.
03:30Why don't you take the train, Harvey? You're not just a crane, you're an engine too.
03:36I don't know. I don't usually pull any of the cargo. I don't think I'm very good at
03:43it.
03:44Well, you don't have to pull them, Harvey. That's right. You can pick them up with your
03:49hook and carry them, if you like, like fish. Yes, like fish.
03:57Water off a duck's back, remember?
04:00Water off a duck's back. Maybe I will take these flatbeds to Vicarstown.
04:05That would be an excellent idea.
04:08I quite agree.
04:10The Fat Controller had just arrived for a very important meeting.
04:16Let's get you coupled up and you can show us what a fine engine you can be. Off to our
04:23meeting then.
04:25So Harvey was coupled up to the line of heavy flatbeds.
04:32Harvey felt proud as he pulled the heavy flatbeds toward Vicarstown.
04:40He was usually only busy when there were things to be lifted, but there was no reason
04:46why he couldn't pull things also.
04:49I'm not just a crane, I'm an engine too.
04:56Harvey got to Gordon's Hill.
05:02As he made his way up the steep slope, the flatbeds got a lot harder to pull.
05:10They felt very heavy indeed.
05:14Pulling a heavy train uphill is much more difficult than I thought.
05:25Keep going Harvey, you can do it.
05:27That's right Thomas, I can do it.
05:33At last Harvey reached the top of Gordon's Hill.
05:38I did it!
05:42And then he started to go down the other side.
05:48Harvey went faster and faster as he hurried down the slope with the heavy train pushing
05:54him forward.
05:56Pulling a heavy train downhill is much easier than I thought.
06:02But when Harvey reached the next bend, he suddenly realised that he was going much too
06:09fast to be safe.
06:21Luckily, nobody was hurt.
06:26I knew I shouldn't have pulled those flatbeds, I didn't think I'd be any good at it.
06:33I hope Bill and Ben don't see me, they would say cheesy things.
06:38You can pick them up with your hook and carry them if you like.
06:42Like fish?
06:43Yes, like fish.
06:47Yes, I have a hook, so I can pick up these derailed flatbeds.
06:54Ha!
06:55Bill and Ben couldn't do that.
07:03I'm not just an engine, I'm a crane too.
07:10What happened here?
07:12Nothing I can't handle Gordon, I've got it all under control.
07:18Ah, right you are Harvey.
07:25Soon Harvey had all his flatbeds of heavy equipment back on the track.
07:32He was quickly coupled up and hurried on his way to Vicarstown.
07:38Now Harvey knew that he would have to pull hard going up the hills.
07:45And he knew to put his brakes on on the way down, so as not to go too fast.
07:55The Fat Controller was just finishing his very important meeting,
08:01when Harvey finally made it back to the docks.
08:05Harvey, by safely delivering all the heavy flatbeds to Vicarstown,
08:11you have proven that even a crane engine can help pull cargo.
08:16You are a really useful engine.
08:20Oh, thank you sir.
08:22Oh, and sir, it's a double useful thing to have a hook.
08:27I can even go fishing.
08:30I can even go fishing.
