00:00Bill and Ben are tank engine twins.
00:04Each has four wheels, a tiny chimney and dome, and a small squat cab.
00:10Their trucks are filled with china clay.
00:13It is needed for pottery, paper, paint, and many other things.
00:21The twins are now kept busy pulling the trucks for engines on the main line,
00:26and for ships in the harbour.
00:30Music
00:39One morning they arranged some trucks and went away for more.
00:49They returned to find them all gone.
00:52The twins were most surprised.
00:55Their drivers examined a patch of oil.
00:58That's a diesel, they said.
01:00It's a wattle, asked Bill.
01:02A de-zeasel, I think, replied Ben.
01:05There's a notice about them in our shed.
01:07Coughs and sneezals spread de-zeasels.
01:10You had a cough in your smokebox yesterday.
01:13It's your fault the de-zeasel came.
01:15It isn't. It is.
01:17Stop arguing, you two, laughed their drivers.
01:20Let's go and rescue our trucks.
01:22Bill and Ben were horrified.
01:25But the de-zeasel will magic us away like the trucks.
01:28He won't magic us, replied their drivers.
01:31We'll more likely magic him.
01:34Listen, he doesn't know your twins,
01:37so we'll take away your names and numbers,
01:39and then this is what we'll do.
01:45Puffing hard, the twins set off on their journey to find the diesel.
01:51They were looking forward to playing tricks on him.
02:02Creeping into the yard,
02:04they found the diesel on a siding with the missing trucks.
02:07Ben hid behind, but Bill went boldly alongside.
02:21The diesel looked up.
02:23Do you mind?
02:25Yes, said Bill, I do.
02:27I want my trucks, please.
02:29These are mine, said the diesel.
02:31Go away.
02:33Bill pretended to be frightened.
02:35You're a big bully, he whimpered.
02:37You'll be sorry.
02:39He ran back and hid behind the trucks on the other side.
02:43Ben now came forward.
02:47Ben now came forward.
02:49Truck stealer!
02:51Pissed Ben, he ran away too.
02:53Bill took his place.
03:08This went on and on till the diesel's eyes nearly popped out.
03:13Stop, you're making me giddy!
03:16The two engines gazed at him.
03:19Are there two of you?
03:21Yes, we're twins.
03:23I might have known it.
03:27Just then, Edward bustled up.
03:30Bill and Ben, why are you playing here?
03:33We're not playing, protested Bill.
03:36We're rescuing our trucks, squeaked Ben.
03:39Even you don't take our trucks without asking.
03:42But this diesel did.
03:44There's no cause to be rude, said Edward severely.
03:47This engine is a Metropolitan Vickers diesel electric type 2.
03:53The twins were abashed.
03:55We're sorry, Mr...
03:57Never mind, the diesel smiled.
04:00Call me Boco.
04:02I'm sorry I didn't understand about the trucks.
04:05That's all right then, said Edward.
04:07Now off you go, Bill and Ben.
04:09Fetch Boco's trucks.
04:11Then you can take this lot.
04:13There's no real harm in them, he said to Boco.
04:16But they're maddening at times.
04:19Boco chuckled.
04:20Maddening, he said, is the word.
