00:00Gordon and the Engineer
00:06There are railway lines all over the island of Sodom.
00:15The railway runs from Brendam Docks
00:22right across the countryside.
00:25So there are lots of signals.
00:30They help the engines to stay safe as they go about their work.
00:37All the engines have favourite jobs.
00:40Gordon loves pulling the express.
00:47Gordon thinks it's the most important job on the island.
00:53And Gordon likes to feel important.
00:58One morning, the Fat Controller came to see Gordon.
01:03Gordon, the points are broken, said the Fat Controller.
01:07An important engineer is coming to fix them.
01:10You are to collect him at Maron Station.
01:14Then you must take him to the points as quickly as possible.
01:18Don't worry, sir, chuffed Gordon. I'll get him to the points for you.
01:28Gordon steamed to Maron.
01:32All the other engines were stuck.
01:35They couldn't go anywhere until the points were fixed.
01:40They all had to wait as Gordon puffed grandly along the express line.
01:50I'm an important engine collecting an important passenger, he puffed proudly.
01:57Gordon felt very grand.
02:06Gordon pulled in to Maron Station.
02:09There was a passenger carrying a toolbox waiting on the platform.
02:13He must be the important engineer, thought Gordon.
02:17All aboard, he whistled.
02:19And the man with the toolbox climbed on board.
02:23Wait, said the station master. Bertie the bus is bringing more passengers.
02:28I can't wait, Gordon huffed.
02:31I have a very important passenger on board. I have to leave now.
02:37And he left.
02:42Gordon puffed proudly along.
02:46But he didn't know that the man with the toolbox wasn't the engineer.
02:53Or that Bertie the bus had brought the engineer with all the other passengers.
03:00Oh no, groaned the engineer. I've missed my train.
03:04How will I ever fix the points now?
03:09Gordon rattled past Donald.
03:13Then he clattered past Douglas.
03:17Important engine coming through, chuffed Gordon.
03:21This made Douglas very cross.
03:24But the man with the toolbox was having a wonderful time.
03:29He was the only passenger and he didn't have to stop at any of the stations.
03:34At last, Gordon arrived at the broken points.
03:38I'm glad you're here, puffed Thomas.
03:41None of the engines can move until the points are fixed.
03:45But the man with the toolbox was very confused.
03:49I'm not an engineer, said the man.
03:52I'm a carpenter. I thought Gordon was taking me to the docks.
03:56Oh no, I've left the engineer behind, moaned Gordon.
04:01I'll have to go back and get him.
04:03But you can't reverse down the express line with the express, said the signalman.
04:08Maybe you could go on my line, puffed Thomas.
04:11That's a good idea, puffed Gordon. Thank you, Thomas.
04:17So Gordon backed down the line and left his express coaches.
04:27Then he steamed on to Thomas's track.
04:39He reversed quickly down Thomas's line.
04:46But he found Douglas blocking his way.
04:50Out of my way, puffed Gordon.
04:53I've got an important passenger to collect.
04:56You can't get past, puffed Douglas.
04:59I can only go back as far as the next station, then Donald is in the way.
05:04Gordon felt terrible. All the engines were stuck and it was all his fault.
05:11How can I collect the engineer, he puffed.
05:16Then Gordon had an idea.
05:18Maybe all the engines can help, he thought.
05:22Gordon told Douglas his idea.
05:26Then Douglas puffed down the track to tell Donald.
05:34What a grand plan, chuffed Donald.
05:39So Donald puffed back to collect the engineer.
05:46Whoop! Whoop!
05:51The engineer climbed on board.
05:55Whoop! Whoop!
06:02Then Donald chuffed back up the line.
06:07Whoop! Whoop!
06:12Donald dropped the engineer off at the station.
06:17Then Douglas took the engineer to the next stop where Gordon was waiting for him.
06:26Finally, Gordon took the engineer to the broken points.
06:32The points were soon fixed.
06:35And the engines could puff through.
06:39Thank you, Gordon, puffed Thomas.
06:44That evening the railway was back to normal.
06:50Thank you for helping me today, puffed Gordon.
06:53Even an important engine like me needs help, sometimes.
