00:00Donald and Douglas are Scottish twin engines. They're practical, peppery and proud.
00:08They nearly always work together.
00:14One day, Donald and Douglas were chuffing through the countryside, hauling a heavy load.
00:22Down the line, Trevor, the traction engine, had been struggling with a big cartload of hay.
00:28Crossing the tracks, the cart's wheels had broken off.
00:31Then Trevor heard a whistle.
00:33Oh no! Trevor cried.
00:39Donald could see the cart.
00:41Stop! He cried.
00:44Donald's driver applied the brakes, but it was too late.
00:53Luckily, no one was hurt.
00:58Stop being pushy, Donald snapped.
01:00Don't call me pushy, Douglas snapped back.
01:03You shouldn't have pushed me into the cart, huffed Donald.
01:06You pulled me, you mean, argued Douglas.
01:09Didn't he?
01:10Did.
01:11Did no!
01:12Did too!
01:15Before long, the track was cleared, and Donald and Douglas were on their way.
01:22But the twins were so cross, they refused to speak to each other for the rest of the day.
01:28The next day, the Fat Controller needed an engine to help Duck at the smelters' yards.
01:38May I go, sir? said Donald eagerly.
01:41I only need one engine, said the Fat Controller, not two.
01:45I am only one engine, sir, said Donald, and I would like to work with Duck.
01:50The Fat Controller was surprised, but agreed.
01:53Thomas was worried.
01:55Won't you miss one another? he asked.
01:57I know I'd miss Annie and Clarabel.
01:59I'll work better on my own, sniffed Douglas.
02:02I have work to do, huffed Donald.
02:07At first, Donald enjoyed working with Duck.
02:15Then, things started to go wrong.
02:19Did you shunt those trucks onto the other line? Donald asked.
02:23You said you wanted them on the other line, Duck replied.
02:26Not that other line! The other other line!
02:31Donald was cross.
02:32Douglas would have known what I meant, he huffed.
02:39Douglas was working on his own.
02:42He'd shoved dutifully through the beautiful countryside.
02:48But Douglas had no one to share it with.
02:53Although he tried not to, he was beginning to miss his twin.
02:59That night, Douglas's driver took him to visit Donald.
03:02I was just passing, said Douglas.
03:05Have you come to say you're sorry? Donald sniffed.
03:08This made Douglas very cross.
03:10I've nothing to be sorry for, he said, and steamed away in a huff.
03:17The next day, Donald was in a bad mood.
03:20Duck could see he was getting too close to the buffers.
03:23Look out! he shouted, but it was too late.
03:29Donald's driver was very cross.
03:32This wouldn't have happened if you were working with Douglas, he said.
03:35Donald knew he was right, and Duck knew he couldn't pull Donald back onto the rails.
03:41So he went for help.
03:44Douglas was sadly finishing his work as Duck steamed into the depot.
03:49Donald's in trouble, said Duck.
03:51Donald in trouble?
03:53Douglas cried, I'm on my way, and he steamed off as fast as he could.
04:02Douglas struggled and struggled.
04:05He finally pulled his twin gently back onto the tracks.
04:09He was relieved Donald wasn't hurt.
04:13Thank you, Donald said, and I'm sorry.
04:17No, I'm sorry, said Douglas.
04:20I'm sorry, insisted Donald.
04:22You don't have to have a row about who's sorry, chuckled Duck.
04:25Just be glad you're back together, and they were.
