00:00The planet is plagued by these parasitic Titans. Here's a look at the brand new
00:04Hayato's Godzilla exquisite basic MUTO.
00:18Humanity is on the brink of an ancient cataclysm and Dr. Serizawa believes that
00:23only Godzilla the king of the monsters has the ability to restore the balance
00:26of nature. However Godzilla faces immense challenges and humanity strives to
00:29comprehend the powerful ally with destructive capabilities. This exquisite
00:33basic series female MUTO action figure stands 150 millimeters tall crafted
00:37with meticulous attention to detail referencing the original CG data from
00:41the movie. Every aspect of the MUTO's appearance from the film is faithfully
00:44reproduced. Details such as the red eyes, the two pairs of massive forelimbs and
00:48more are all recreated and intricate color further accentuates the lifelike
00:53creature's aesthetic. First let's grab the tape measure and see how tall the
00:56female MUTO stands. MUTO though stands for massive unidentified terrestrial
01:00organism. I'd like to thank the folks over at Hayato's that provided the
01:03sample we could have a look at. MUTO is slated to release the second quarter of
01:062024 for $51.99. The female is gonna stand though at five and a half inches
01:12in height or this MUTO is gonna be 14 centimeters tall. While being bigger than
01:16the male MUTO she is still though smaller than Godzilla. I went online and
01:20wanted to do a little researching on size charts and looking at how they
01:24scale up the MUTO with Godzilla. Generally though the female in this
01:27form before she eventually becomes the Queen and then the Prime she only goes
01:31usually to about the shoulders of Godzilla which if you then looking at
01:34the two figures they're a little bit more in line with one another.
01:36Eventually though when we do get the male MUTO, fingers crossed, he's gonna be
01:40even smaller than this version of the female. He's also gonna possess flying
01:43capabilities because he has wings instead of the legs. While she's smaller
01:47though than Godzilla the female MUTO though is still about in same scale as
01:51King Kong even though they're never combatants in the movie. Many I'm sure
01:55would consider a MUTO to be a bug, myself included, but actual visual effects
01:59supervisor Gallium was quoted in Godzilla the Art of Destruction
02:02saying that he would classify the MUTOs more as mammals because they have flesh
02:05bone and muscles. While not maybe possessing those three flesh bones or
02:09muscles for that matter, he has crafted a really nice-looking female MUTO. The
02:13figure itself is mostly cast here in dark plastic and even though really a
02:17lot of the colors on her still remain pretty dark they break things up really
02:21rather nicely with all the different texturing that you'll see across her
02:24body. Picking the figure up first of all as you can see one of the notable traits
02:27of the female MUTOs is that she has these long tree-like limbs on the fronts
02:31of her body. The limbs themselves are somewhat close to one another when you
02:34look at the first two rows but then they look a little bit more like hind legs
02:38when you look at the character's body or the back of the body. Looking though
02:41first of all at her face now again while mostly using mostly just grays and
02:45blacks the texturing is the one thing that sells the most on this figure. First
02:48of all obviously we're gonna look at the head sculpt. It kind of has more like
02:51the flat to the flat top area here and while again we have a lot of grays one
02:56little bit of color that I'm appreciating that they included is the
02:59interior of the mouth which does actually open and close. You can see that
03:02pink does a nice job of then breaking up the darker colors. She's also got the
03:06slits of the eyes there on red on either side of her face as well. I was actually
03:10surprised to see that there was gonna be posability to the head just assuming
03:13really that this was all gonna be one part of her body and then all the limbs
03:16would have been articulated over top of that but actually she does have decent
03:20articulation. I mean I don't know what you consider to be decent articulation
03:23but the fact that at least this head can move back and forth likely what it is is
03:28there's a post running from shoulder all the way through to the other side and
03:30then the head basically just sits on that but you know it's something and at
03:34least it can do this. It can't move granted back and forth but again we'll
03:37talk more about that when we get down to the figure's articulation. The legs
03:40themselves as I can best describe kind of look like husked wood. If you've ever
03:45left wood out in the fireplace for example and it hasn't had the chance to
03:48burn down into ashes, you go back to look at it it kind of just looks like it's
03:52dark and it's husk like. That's the best way I can probably describe the
03:55texturing that they've done here. What's rather interesting though is that the
03:58texturing seems to change depending on where you're looking at the character's
04:01body. It's a little bit more kind of sporadic the way they've actually
04:05textured the legs here on the front limbs but as you get then to the middle
04:09limbs they're a little bit more concise a little bit more close together. When
04:13you look though at the back of the legs they're completely different from the
04:15texturing on the front that they actually kind of come across more like
04:18elephant or rhinoceros hide. It's really interesting the way they've sculpted
04:22this. Now of course the front legs are the largest of the three and then again
04:25progressively you got Papa, Mama and of course baby bear there on the back. They
04:29get progressively smaller as you get to the back of the character's body.
04:32The limbs are also articulated in all the exact same spots either. While again
04:37we'll kind of talk more about this down the road there's articulation here for
04:40the shoulders but then because the middle shoulders are attached by
04:43essentially like these strutted out shoulder pieces they're gonna be a
04:47little bit more changed by the way that they actually articulate. Of course when
04:51you look at the back of the character's body too again like a lot of grays but
04:54the way they've actually painted this is really one of the neat things about it.
04:57Godzilla is one of those things too that as the characters really relegated to
05:00grays it's kind of really hard to make an impressive figure but yet Haida does
05:03a great job of actually coloring like the darker and like the underbelly for
05:07example of the Muto's body all dark here in black plastic but then again you've
05:11got all the lighter grays there on the front. It gets progressively a little bit
05:14different as we look at the middle longer leg there as well and then you
05:17got a lot more grays there on the back of the character's body too. The thing
05:20that's also really neat about the Motu is if I can just keep one and keep
05:23calling these Motu's. The Muto's if you look at the inside of the arm they kind
05:27of remind me of an alien Queen. These small little arms that extend out from
05:31sort of the undercarriage and they're actually decently articulated too. I
05:34really wasn't expecting that either. They're kind of more like these sharp
05:38like I don't like hooks almost like a praying mantis. I would imagine this
05:41would be allowing her to hook on to whatever she's attacking and she can
05:44then go in and go for the attacks that way. The also that's neat thing about
05:48this character is the way that if you look at the bottoms of her legs it's
05:51only really on the front two legs. The back of the leg actually comes across
05:54more like a hoof but she's got these little hook pieces. Now they're actually
05:57the way that they're articulated and for all intents and purposes you could take
06:00these hooks and move them further to the front but as you'll see in a second I
06:04kind of just prefer to have these on the back because I think actually in more in
06:07the movie too she's more to having like the back of her feet these little hook
06:10pieces kind of dragging behind her instead of in the front. For the figure's
06:14articulation by the way though going back to the head sculpt now while again
06:17she doesn't have anything where you can move it back and forth I wish there was
06:21a way they could have incorporated some articulation where you'd be able to
06:23rotate this but what they would had to have done is maybe made the head a
06:27little bit further forward and then put a ball joint there and that would have
06:30broken up I feel like a pretty seamless looking body. Admittedly I know there's
06:34not as much seamlessness because obviously you got the hinge joints very
06:37visibly here but if you look at it it's a pretty clean pretty tight looking
06:40figure the way they've overallly sculpted it and are added the
06:43articulation points. So again like while you can't really move the head back and
06:46forth this way you can at least move it up and down so at least there's
06:49something. This by the way is all soft plastic. This body by the way is harder
06:53plastic so that's probably one of the easiest ways that they've incorporated
06:56this. For all intents and purposes if you look at the inside of this this whole
06:59back crest section is basically just like rubbery plastic but that's they
07:03probably did that also as well so it would be a lot easier for this to sit
07:06inside the cavity without harder plastic sort of rubbing in on itself. You can see
07:10they've also lightened this a little bit lighter there as well versus the rest of
07:13the darker coloring of the plastic but again like this only moves up and down
07:16this way that's it that's all you're really gonna be able to get. The mouth
07:18does again open and close so that's nice to see but then when you get the arms
07:22it's kind of interesting thing to look at this you're feeling like you're kind
07:25of dissecting a crab or a lobster so the front legs how they essentially work is
07:29that there's ball joints on the insides it allows the legs to strut out this far
07:33but obviously I mean if you're looking to put this on the shelf most of the
07:36time you're probably only going to be putting the female Muto in the stance
07:39where she's essentially resting on all the four legs but there's ball joints
07:43here so you can basically bring the legs out that far you can take the legs and
07:46rotate at least the first row of legs somewhat all the way around I mean
07:50obviously she's gonna be butting up against the middle section of those legs
07:52but you'll be able to rotate them forward and back then you've got the
07:55kind of elbow equivalent to here for the leg so this does rotate and there's
07:59also a hinge right there so you can bring these also forward as well now
08:03again like if you wanted to bring them forward that's fine and good but then
08:06you're gonna want to make sure that you really do balance things off then with
08:09the middle set of legs it's feasible that you can compensate for the fact
08:13that she does have the front legs forward like this by bringing in the
08:16middle legs and kind of just hinging them forward like this and now the the
08:20legs like I said you rotate back and forth and these also rotate back and
08:23forth where you can hinge them up and down as well I already discussed the
08:26fact that when you're looking at the back or the feet here they're basically
08:29on these hooks so if I was to put it say in the defaulted pose which had the legs
08:33kind of like that right you can bring these forward and you can also hinge
08:36them up but like honestly though I would rather just have them kind of dragging
08:40behind her like this so essentially there's like ball joint here hinge joint
08:44hinge joint and then a hinge joint down below here for the feet you're
08:47essentially taking that same idea and you're replicating again when you get to
08:50the middle row of legs or the middle you know the middle legs here the only
08:54thing that's constructed differently is while the hinge joint is pretty much the
08:57exact same from like this area in this area she has again like that these
09:00additional strutted pieces strutted pieces for her shoulders so not only do
09:04these stick out from a design standpoint but when they're also articulated
09:08there's some ball joints that they also incorporate there as well so you can
09:11bring these middle legs further forward or you can also arch them back and just
09:16depending on really how you would like to have it displayed I honestly though I
09:19mean even though you can't bring them forward I like more the idea that you
09:21can arch them back because I think it kind of lines everything up a little bit
09:25more to the middle crest or the way that this points off to the back of the body
09:28but again because that's designed the way it is you're gonna be a little bit
09:32more limited with what you can actually do with the middle legs just because
09:35again like with these legs there was nothing really in the way you could
09:37easily rotate them all the way around if you wanted to but because these now have
09:40this piece here you're only really able to bring the legs out this far but you
09:44can still of course move them forward and back as well I mean this still
09:47allows for full rotation but when you're rotating you're rotating this part of
09:51the shoulder as well still the hind legs they are gonna have the hinge joint or
09:54this part of the leg is gonna have the hinge joint and that's also gonna have
09:57the hinge joint right there as well things get they'll get changed when you
10:00get to of course the interior and you've got these smaller legs so if you would
10:04consider these legs or arms these arms actually have a ball joint so if I move
10:09this out of the way there's a ball joint right here it's like again it's like
10:12looking at a lobster it's a ball joint right here so like the legs can move
10:15forward and back and out with just this ball joint alone then you've got this
10:19section here that does rotate and you can also hinge these out too so you can
10:23bring these out forward or you can again rotate back and forth they're a little
10:26loose I mean compared to the rest of the legs but I mean at least they're not
10:29things that have to keep this figure upright so I don't mind that these are a
10:32little looser then when you get to the hind legs just bring these out of the
10:35way here so the hind legs rotate back and forward the one thing I did notice
10:40though is bringing back the Mutoh's legs when you get to about this point it
10:44almost feels like they're fighting against themselves and I think a lot of
10:46that has to do with the way they've sculpted the top of the legs here so
10:48this is all hard plastic this is all hard plastic as well so when you bring
10:52the legs back like this you almost feel like the legs are being forced back
10:56that's okay I mean I'm not gonna have them displayed any other way than this
10:59anyways you can bring legs out as well and you can kind of see again like
11:03that's as far out as you can really get them then you've got this back section
11:07here so like this is a hinge so you can bend it what would be I
11:11guess the knee and then you can take the calf and you can also bend that forward
11:14as well luckily though all the joints that keep the legs in place are all
11:18tight there's nothing that's overly loose oh and again you've got the calf
11:21you've got I guess the little hoof feet on the back those are on ball joints
11:25there as well like I said the good thing about this is everything that's on the
11:28Mutoh's body at least from a leg standpoint is super tight so there's no
11:31real worries that I'm gonna have of the figure not being able to stand on her
11:34own and again if you wanted to because the poseability is packed where it is
11:38yeah sure if you wanted to bring the leg forward for say an attacking stance
11:42there's still enough stability though with the middle legs for example that
11:46you can still pull that off and then again one last thing just to bring back
11:49in Godzilla let's put him over here for example you know again the size wise is
11:53pretty good now again if you look online for like the scaling chart because I
11:57really wanted to make sure that these were you know of the right size they
12:00seem to be because again like if in the state you're looking at the Motu the
12:04Mutohs of the females right now before she eventually becomes the Queen that's
12:08the life cycle of the Mutohs and before she becomes Mutoh prime they're about
12:12like again going about to the shoulders or so of Godzilla so I think they've
12:16scaled them pretty good definitely looking forward though it again the
12:18Mutoh male I would imagine though it unlike the female the Mutoh because he
12:22also has the wings it's probably gonna come in clue with a flight stand she
12:25doesn't come with anything other than really what you're seeing right now but
12:27a nice-looking release from folks over at Hi Toys not only is the female Mutoh
12:31figure look good but she poses good as well a lot of it really has to do with
12:34those middle legs they're the workhorse for the remaining of the figure as long
12:37as they're straight as long as they're stable you have the freedom to do
12:40whatever you want with the frontal legs like I've got right now the leg is
12:43brought forward so it looks like she's attacking Godzilla because she has now
12:46six legs instead of four the figure is easily balancing off the weight I was
12:50really surprised to see how much pose ability this figure possessed I mean you
12:54know you would expect just as much from any release you get from Hi Toys and
12:57yet one thing I will say impressively is done here with a Mutoh is that the
13:02articulation is clearly there we can all see it and yet the figure from a distance
13:06looks clean like it doesn't look like it's broken up like it didn't have to
13:09sacrifice a sculpt in favor of pose ability if that makes any sense at all
13:13even though I can very easily see the parts on the on the limbs like the
13:17joints in the elbows and in the ankles I can see those things are all things that
13:20move on the figure and yet though from a distance it doesn't look like anything
13:24is suffered in favor of the figures articulation big thank you once again to
13:28the folks over at Hi Toys that provided the sample of the Godzilla female Mutoh
13:32figure that we had the chance to have a look at this review what do you guys
13:35think of him is this something you guys could see yourselves picking up if you
13:38guys are also interested and would like to get your hands on her she is slated
13:41to release the second quarter of 2024 for $51.99 I was safe $51.99 I should
13:48just straight out round up the $52 I guess if I was to say $52 somebody
13:52probably would just say well you know I did look online sir and they were selling
13:55for $51.99 you're off by a cent so they're selling for $51.99 if you're
14:00interested she is currently as a pre-order like I said but some of the
14:04sites unfortunately have already sold out on those pre-orders so if you guys
14:07are again interested to get the female version of the Mutoh definitely want to
14:10make sure you're getting your hands on the pre-orders before even the pre-orders
14:13sell out what do you guys think of the character and are you super as excited
14:17as well to get the male version the male equivalent of the Mutoh which again will
14:20be smaller than this will also have instead of the six legs will have wings
14:24as well probably gonna come in clear with a flight stand no doubt if you guys
14:28though enjoyed this video want to throw it a like if you guys are loving the
14:30content you guys are seeing and want to stick around for more remaining reviews
14:33of Haya toys got a couple more coming your way if you haven't already make
