00:00 If he sees you up in space, he might just take your place.
00:04 Here's your look at the brand new Super 7, the Silverhawks Ultimates Molecular.
00:09 [Music]
00:33 With his ability to change shape and size to disguise himself as anyone or anything,
00:38 Molecular is one of the most dangerous criminals in the Limbo Galaxy.
00:41 This 7 inch scale highly articulated Silverhawks Ultimates figure of Molecular features detailed
00:46 sculpting and includes interchangeable heads and hands, as well as a variety of accessories
00:50 including the transformation ring he uses to alter his form.
00:54 Much like Molecular, this line of Silverhawks figures from Super 7 is really taking shape.
00:59 Considering though how many figures we've gotten so far and how early into this line
01:02 this actually has been, I wish the same could have been said for the Simpsons Ultimate figures.
01:07 Anyways though, Molecular stands exactly 6 inches in height, or this shape-shifting criminal
01:12 is about 15.5 cm tall.
01:15 So far, Molecular is the smallest of Limbo's criminals.
01:18 And it does involve me then having to bring the camera back just a bit so I can bring
01:20 in other figures for comparisons.
01:22 I don't have to worry as much about the figure being in frame when it comes to the
01:24 pre-transformed version of Monstar.
01:27 Even then though, Molecular is dwarfed by him.
01:29 He only comes up to about his shoulders.
01:31 But what you'll now see when you compare him against the transformed version of Monstar,
01:36 well you can see he's absolutely tiny.
01:38 Comparing him also as well with Buzzsaw, he still remains pretty small.
01:41 And he still continues to be small when we bring in the leader of the Silverhawks, Quicksilver.
01:45 Moving the camera back in and now looking at Molecular's accessories.
01:49 The first thing that we'll have a look at is Vulture, his weapon bird.
01:52 The bird is one thing that gets consistently used here.
01:55 Maybe not necessarily this mold, but all the Silverhawk characters not only in the cartoon
01:59 but also the figures all seem to come in clear with birds like this.
02:03 Unfortunately though, they have kind of started to skimp back.
02:05 Earlier waves of Silverhawk characters that came in clear with birds tend to usually come
02:09 with one that had fanned out wings and then one that would basically just be in a neutral
02:13 or perched stance.
02:15 Unfortunately though, in the case of Vulture here, there's not much really that you can
02:18 do with the bird other than just rotating the neck back and forth.
02:22 That's the only posability that the bird actually does possess.
02:24 It does though have talons on the bottom.
02:27 Unfortunately though, while looking at this, you would just suspect that this would clip
02:30 onto Molecular's arms.
02:32 But unfortunately though, while it does clip onto his arms, I find at least on mine that
02:36 the arms are way too loose.
02:38 Even if you clip them on there, Molecular doesn't have just the means to hold the weight
02:42 of the bird.
02:43 And a lot of times either the bird will fall off or Molecular's arms will just start to
02:47 droop.
02:48 I have droopage on this side as well as this form is really overly loose in the joints.
02:53 So even then, just to take Vulture and put it on his wrist, it just doesn't hold properly.
02:59 One good thing at least about the bird is that it's decently painted.
03:02 It matches the color so you already know who it belongs to.
03:04 And the way at least they designed the talons, that you can just have it sort of just perched
03:08 next to him, which is likely what I'm going to be ending up doing.
03:11 I don't tend to really display any of my characters with birds other than Tallyhawk.
03:15 Tallyhawk is the OG, so it's always posed and displayed with Quicksilver.
03:19 All these other birds I just tend to put back in the packaging.
03:21 They just don't serve much of a purpose to me.
03:24 The figure also comes in play with his blaster.
03:26 The blaster, once again, like Vulture, you'll know right away who it belongs to as the colors
03:30 match somewhat of the same beige.
03:31 It gets a nice brown additionally on the back there as well as on the handle and some really
03:35 nice use of the additional gold there on the front of the barrel.
03:38 He does have a gripping hand at least for holding this.
03:41 It's actually one of the many hands that he comes in clear with, but they all belong on
03:44 this side of the figure's body.
03:45 So we just take, for example, the blaster.
03:47 If you're having, by the way, any hard times doing this, you can always heat the hands
03:50 in hot water.
03:51 I don't really have a problem with getting the hands to open up like this.
03:54 Even though they're not actually trigger firing finger hands, he at least has one hand to
03:58 hold the blaster.
03:59 I'm just going to put that over there.
04:01 While we're all also on the topic of hands, he also comes included with his Molekia Tar
04:05 hand, which is basically one of his weapons that he wields.
04:08 It's the Molekia Tar hand, basically just shoots out this tar on the end of it and basically
04:13 would then replace.
04:14 It's really the only hand really that fits and replaces on this side of the figure's body.
04:19 All the other hands, I believe, all go on this side.
04:21 So there's one additional accessory that, you know, other than just a normal swappable
04:25 hand, at least it does do something.
04:27 And it actually is something that we see in the series.
04:30 Going back though, all to his other hands, like I said, the majority of them all are
04:33 basically on this side.
04:35 He weirdly has all these additional hands that look very close to one another.
04:39 I would, under normal pretense, just assume that these would be hands that, okay, you
04:42 got one on one side, you got one on the other side.
04:44 But if you're looking at them, all the thumbs are facing the same direction and the placement
04:49 and the way they've sculpted the hands are somewhat identical to one another.
04:52 Okay, yes, you could probably look at this and say, "Oh, like the fingers are a little
04:55 bit more bent on this one.
04:57 What are you talking about?"
04:58 And a hand is a little bit more flat on this side.
05:00 But if you look at then the hand that he has right now, it's pretty much the same style
05:04 of hand other than the joint.
05:06 If you look at the joint, this joint basically is just flat.
05:09 It fits parallel basically to his forearm.
05:11 This hand on the other hand, looks like he's got a broken wrist.
05:15 The idea in mind though, is that you just remove the hand just like that and you replace
05:18 it with this hand instead.
05:20 And because now he has the slightly arched wrist, it's a better suited hand than if you
05:25 want to have the transformation.
05:26 But basically in the series, he puts his hand up against his other transformation side and
05:31 he turns his shape that way.
05:33 While we're certainly on the topic of this, the figure, like I said, does have the part
05:36 that he basically touches in the cartoon.
05:38 And then that's the thing that triggers all the transformation.
05:40 He has two variations of this.
05:42 So he basically has one that's opaque like this.
05:45 And then the transformation hand also does have a clear version.
05:49 The clear version, again, it's just a case, popping the hand that he has on the ends of
05:52 his forearm.
05:53 Would you even call it a hand?
05:54 I would still call it a hand.
05:56 Just pop that off, replace it with the clear one.
05:58 Now also one thing that's good at least about the clear, it's only clear here.
06:02 They actually still used an opaque plastic.
06:04 The actual hinge joint, while I would still worry about the things all around it, the
06:08 actual hinge is still an opaque plastic.
06:10 And that just again, plugs in place.
06:12 It also helps, I find, to just wiggle this back and forth.
06:15 Because there's something about the hole on this forearm that I always have a real hard
06:19 time...
06:20 I've done this a couple of times, and I just have a real hard time to get this hand in
06:23 place.
06:24 I kind of have to really twist it, and you kind of really hear the squeaking.
06:28 Maybe not push it as much here, but I'm just going to wiggle this back in place.
06:31 There we go.
06:32 And then he has that hand instead.
06:34 While to go with that, he also has his transformation ring.
06:37 He has two variations of this.
06:39 One is clear, or somewhat translucent plastic.
06:41 So that's going to basically fit on the one that he has right now.
06:44 And then he has a colorized version as he starts to transform.
06:47 I do like the use of the actual translucent red.
06:50 And then they painted basically all the orbs on the end of it in blue.
06:53 And that just fits on the end of it.
06:54 So if you're looking at it, basically that's what, like a hexagon?
06:59 Hexagon six-sided shape?
07:00 So you're going to take the clear one, and that fits.
07:03 Basically have to kind of line it up.
07:04 So obviously shape for shape, it has to line up perfectly.
07:07 This is all stuff they would teach you in kindergarten.
07:09 And I find even then putting it on, you really have to, first of all, when you're looking
07:14 at it, there seems to be, even though it looks like it's flat on both sides, I find I can't
07:18 seem to get it on this way.
07:20 But I flip it around the other way, and it fits fine.
07:22 Isn't that strange?
07:23 Isn't that one of those crazy things?
07:25 And then basically you're just going to bring the hand around, and then he's going to, you
07:28 know, self-high-five himself.
07:30 And basically he's just going to transform into the character that way.
07:33 Or again, you just pop that off and replace with the colorized version, and then you can
07:37 transform that.
07:38 I still end up just using this when it comes to displaying this guy permanently on my shelf.
07:41 Just the idea of always having him in a transforming or somewhat transforming state.
07:45 It's a little bit more interesting to me.
07:48 The last thing that the figure also comes included with it, let's just move everything
07:50 out of the way here, is he comes with three variations of his head sculpt.
07:54 One that isn't really that much different from the head that we start with.
07:57 The only other thing that would be a little different is, while the placement of the eyes
08:01 look somewhat similar, the mouth, as you can see, he has a frown.
08:05 Oh, it's a smile upside down.
08:06 So instead of having, I mean, even then, like looking at this, it's not really like he,
08:10 it's got more of a neutral expression.
08:12 It's not even really like he's smiling, but this one is a little bit more of an angrier
08:15 face.
08:16 The only other head sculpt that he also has is one that I think is the best of the three,
08:20 is a smiling face.
08:21 The coloring on these are really good.
08:23 I mean, you can see like the tiny little pupils, for example, they painted nicely in white.
08:26 For the most part, I don't see any real paint problems at all on Molecular.
08:30 The only real problem I did have is actually changing out the heads.
08:32 I noticed every time, other than the time, of course, now I'm recording this, the post
08:37 was always very susceptible to freeing itself.
08:39 You can basically see there's a ball joint here and there's a ball joint here and connected
08:42 in the middle by the post.
08:44 Every time I tried to change the head out, I would always ultimately pull the peg out
08:48 and then I have to get myself like a pair of pliers just to remove the peg again, to
08:51 put it back in the neck.
08:53 One time, this only time that it's actually happened, where I'm doing the review of it
08:56 and it stays in place.
08:57 Anyways, you're going to pop the new head in place and now you've got basically a smiling
09:01 expression instead.
09:03 As for the rest of Molecular's body, if you are familiar with the character in the cartoon,
09:07 he's basically just made up of orbs and the orbs, through the process of him transforming,
09:12 basically can change the shape into any character that he sees.
09:17 The only thing I would say though is while he's pretty cartoon accurate, especially the
09:20 way they've sculpted everything and painted everything in the sort of kind of a, I don't
09:24 know, like Werther's original gold, kind of like a caramel yellow.
09:28 He also has the nice beige there also on his body.
09:30 The only thing I would say though is this area right here, the center section of his
09:34 body has sort of like a molecular symbol.
09:37 In the middle though, you can see there's red, but you can barely make it out.
09:40 In the cartoon, it's a little bit more obvious.
09:42 It stands out a little bit more, but unfortunately, I guess what they had to do in order to use
09:45 the translucent smoke plastic over top of it, and unfortunately, it does lose some of
09:49 the detailing on the middle.
09:50 I just wish it was a little bit brighter, but overall, like the body looks pretty good.
09:53 I mean, he's limited on articulation for the obvious reasons.
09:56 There's so much going on here with the body.
09:58 I mean, again, like he's basically just like a walking around cloud.
10:02 Now, for his articulation, he still manages to pull off decent levels of poseability despite
10:06 the fact that he, you know, he look at him and you just don't even know what to start
10:10 with.
10:11 The head is going to be first of all on that ball post, so we've already had a look at
10:13 that.
10:14 Because he does have the benefit of the ball joint here and the ball joint down here, he
10:18 does rotate the head pretty easily, and the head does look down, it looks up, and you
10:23 can also move it back and forth as well.
10:25 For his shoulders, this is the one thing I was really thinking he was going to be very
10:28 limited with just because of how much mass he has for his body.
10:31 Yet, he still manages to pull off a 90 degree angle bend.
10:33 He actually can even go further up than that.
10:35 The only thing I noticed though, and it's not going to be necessarily ruining the figure,
10:39 but every single time I've moved the figure around, it starts to flake the paint.
10:43 They basically put the paint over top of the joint.
10:45 Every time I've now moved the arm, there's all this paint.
10:48 You probably can't even see it.
10:49 I've got maybe most of it's already come off, but I always end up having to wipe my hands
10:53 because of how much yellow paint I end up getting on them.
10:55 Now, he does have a rotation here in his bicep.
10:58 A sad thing, unfortunately, though, is with all these Ultimate figures, they only are
11:01 relegated to single hinges.
11:03 So especially when it comes to Molecular, you experience it a lot more.
11:06 He only can really hinge his elbow at that point.
11:09 I mean, the reasoning why apparently Super 7 decided to use only single hinges was so
11:14 that the bodies look a little bit more seamless.
11:16 Unfortunately, though, most figures all suffer from only being able to do this with their
11:20 elbows.
11:21 With Molecular having so many of these bulbous orbs all over his body, it makes it even more
11:25 apparent that the figure really need more additional articulation in his elbow.
11:28 Hands rotate also all the way around, although that's probably not the best hand to be looking
11:31 at.
11:32 The hands also rotate all the way around and they hinge back and forth.
11:35 The upper torso is going to be on a ball joint, which again really surprised me.
11:39 I thought this guy would only be able to get just a straight swivel, but no, yeah, you
11:42 can rotate him all the way around.
11:43 Even though he has all these extra orbs all around his waist, they're not in a place,
11:47 at least, that's going to limit the figure's articulation.
11:50 As for the legs, they do split out a little bit more on the limited side.
11:53 You can bring the legs forward, you can bring them back, a swivel at the top of the thigh,
11:57 a hinge on the knee.
11:58 Now again, with the knees, I noticed my figure is really tight.
12:02 It's so funny the fact that he's so loose here in the elbows that he can't even hold
12:06 Vulture, but down below here, he's overly tight in the knees that they're almost impossible
12:11 to bend.
12:12 I think a lot of it is, yeah, you can see right there, there's still paint.
12:14 I'm going to have to go in there and flake this off because I really don't want to fight
12:18 this with the knee.
12:19 I mean, yeah, I could do it this way and just naturally start to flake the paint off, but
12:23 that could also potentially break the knee, and I definitely don't want that to happen.
12:26 He also has a swivel down below here where his boots normally, I guess, would normally
12:30 be, but because basically he's just a molecular body.
12:33 And then he's got also the ankle articulation, so you can move it back and forth this way,
12:36 and you can also rock it back and forth this way as well.
12:39 He's an interesting looking character, Molecular is.
12:42 A character that I really didn't think would work well for an Ultimate figure, especially
12:46 from Super 7.
12:47 Whatever you may think when it comes to the figure's articulation, when it generally comes
12:50 to the Super 7 Ultimate figures, I mean, I think Molecular does things pretty good.
12:55 The only thing I would certainly say, if I can actually get this guy to stand, the only
12:57 thing I would say though, is that it's disappointing the fact that the figure does have so loose
13:01 of an elbow that he couldn't even actually support the weight of his bird.
13:04 I mean, a lot of it has to do with just the fact that the bird's weight is way too heavy
13:08 to start off with, and the fact that the figure also has really loose joints, really loose
13:13 elbow joints, that there's no way I could actually do this and this and bring the two
13:17 together.
13:18 It's just impossible.
13:19 That's not probably going to be what I'm going to display the figure with anyways.
13:22 I like the idea that he does have the transformation one side on a hand, and then of course you
13:26 can just simply bring the hands together.
13:28 That's likely going to be the way I'm going to be displaying the figure on the shelf,
13:31 or I might end up just having him displayed as well with the Molecular Tar, one of the
13:34 other included accessories that he has as well.
13:38 By a sheer miracle, I was able to attach Vulture onto the end of Molecular's arms.
13:42 Unfortunately though, with the bird being such heavy plastic, and Molecular's arms being
13:46 so loose, it's an impossible thing to pull off, so let's hope it actually stays the course
13:50 for the remaining of this review.
13:52 I've also got the Molecular Tar on the end of his other forearm, one way of displaying
13:56 the figure, although probably not the way I'm going to be displaying him moving forward
13:58 on the shelf.
13:59 Vulture right away will be going back in the packaging.
14:01 It's a bird that I feel is unnecessary, and which is the weight of the plastic.
14:04 It just isn't going to work for my collection.
14:06 It's going to go back in the packaging, and likely I'm going to be displaying Molecular
14:09 in his transforming state, because when I tend to think of the character, that's usually
14:13 what he ends up being.
14:14 The figure itself looks good.
14:16 I mean, other than a few little problems with paint being inside the joints, the knees are
14:20 probably still the worst.
14:21 I'm not going to ever really bend Molecular's knees to the point where I have to start to
14:24 remove that paint.
14:25 I might just still go back and see if I can try to flake some of that off, but I felt
14:29 they were a little excessive when it came to painting the joints.
14:32 The shoulders I was able to flake off most of it, but the knees are heavily caked.
14:36 The figure though itself looks pretty good.
14:38 It comes with some decent levels of accessories.
14:39 I mean, obviously he comes with a blaster.
14:41 Never going to display that with him either.
14:43 And he comes with not one, not two, but three interchangeable head sculpts.
14:46 I kind of like the smiling face myself, although I'm kind of looking at the neutral expression.
14:50 Maybe that would work as well.
14:51 I mean, just though when changing out the heads, I know from my own personal experience,
14:55 removing the pegs from the neck, or removing the head from the neck, end up removing the
14:59 peg as well.
15:00 So I had to take myself a pair of pliers, pop that out of the head cavity, and pop it
15:04 back in the neck.
15:05 Other than just having overly loose elbows, I'm overly happy with how Molecular turned
15:09 out.
15:10 Now I just got to get my hands on Mumbo Jumbo.
15:11 If you guys have the chance to pick up any of these Silverhawk figures, let me know down
15:15 below in the comments section.
15:16 If you guys are though on the hunt for Molecular or any of the other Limbo bad guys, this guy
15:21 is available as of right now over on Entertainment Earth.
15:23 That's where I end up picking this guy up for myself.
15:25 If you guys are interested, you can click the link down below, the affiliate link.
15:28 That will save you 10% on anything that's currently in stock over on Entertainment Earth's
15:32 site.
15:33 Hey, why not?
15:34 You can pick up Molecular.
15:35 You can pick up anything else as long as it's in stock.
15:37 If you guys did in the meantime enjoy this video, why not throw it a like.
15:40 If you guys are loving the content you guys are seeing and want to stick around for more,
15:43 well then, you can always hit the option of, well, you go with the option of hitting that
15:46 subscribe for one thing, and for a second, you can also always hit that bell notification.
15:50 I know, again, it just seems so unnecessary.
15:53 Turning on the bell notification after hitting that subscribe, you would think that hitting
15:56 subscribe would be more than enough, but YouTube apparently thinks otherwise.
16:00 So it's a two-step process, but at least the second step to ensure that you're going to
16:04 always be in the know whenever new videos pop up.
16:07 As always, guys, thanks for watching.
16:09 See you guys next time.
