00:29 And what we did here, or what she did here today, was she just washed her hair and she
00:33 let it naturally dry.
00:35 So this is pretty much how her hair dries, as you can see here.
00:38 We have a little bit of a kick in the back, pretty normal as we actually see.
00:43 Plus, her hair actually has a finer texture, but it's quite a bit of it.
00:47 So you always measure that on the density of the hair here.
00:52 Okay, so the idea of this haircut is very simple here.
00:57 We're going to leave the top layer long, matter of fact, the bangs still have to grow out
01:01 a little bit, but that's quite alright.
01:03 So we're going to leave that long and we're going to really focus on bringing in the back
01:08 here.
01:09 Okay, we're really going to bring in the back here, but we're not going to cut it short
01:14 because again as well, her hairline as you can see here, fairly high up.
01:19 Okay, so you have to take this on the consideration, plus it's the first time she's actually going
01:25 to shorten her hair more than what it is now.
01:28 So that's quite a big step as well, so we want to take it easy.
01:31 Okay, so again, major focus right here in the nape, but we still got to have hair that
01:37 you can still kind of like hold on to and the top layer we're going to keep long.
01:42 Alright, so let's get rolling.

06:58 And also as well, always ensure you actually have enough oil here, right here at the pivot.

07:11 So, you want to ensure there is enough oil there.

07:15 Because of, very simple, because I open and close my shear here quite a bit.

07:25 So, I'm going to take here a nice center section.

07:47 As we all know, we actually going to have a little bit more tension or we actually have quite a bit more tension cutting dry hair versus when we cut wet hair.

08:05 And I'm going to eliminate right here that weight line.

08:15 Because again, I do not, I still want to leave a little bit of hair throughout the nape.

08:22 And as you can see here, I'm going over the same section quite a few times.

08:35 The hair is at a 90 because I'm pulling it straight out.

08:44 But as I said, we want to keep some hair right throughout the nape.

08:58 And then the last section here, I'm taking the hair section here at a 45.

17:37 When you cut dry hair, what's of most important, you really have to move that hair around.

18:20 You know, when we have clients sit down in our chair, we really have to let them know that, you know, someone like my model here today, she has such a great face, bone structure, we really need to point that out.
18:39 Because sometimes I think clients forget that, what great bone structure they have.
18:47 Because I think very seldom clients actually show up in your chair and they go, "Check out my super thick juicy lips and my high cheekbone."
18:57 Right? So we have to let them know.
18:59 They usually say, "Look at my big nose," or whatever it is.
19:03 So we need to point that out.
19:06 But of course it makes our job much easier as well.
19:10 Excellent.
19:11 So, cool.
19:15 Now, what I'm going to be doing here is just adjusting here as well in the back, that this is all the same.
19:30 So.
19:42 And now what happened is, the way we have cut this, because of her hair being naturally so dark underneath and then we have the top layer being lighter.
19:52 What we're going to be doing here now is just with the point of my KM Slide Royale, we're going to blend this all in.
20:01 Okay.
20:03 As you can see here, step by step.
20:05 And what is important is that you move that hair and then we cut straight into like the hair grows out at us.
20:14 So we're just going to blend everything in.
20:22 Make this haircut sit in just perfectly fine.
20:25 Because also the idea is here afterwards that my model, my haircut today, that she can also let her hair air dry.
20:36 Because we want to make it easy.
20:42 So, perfect.
20:44 It's all beautifully blended in.
20:46 You can see the difference quickly.

20:52 And then here, it's not done yet.

21:27 And of course, everything shall blend in beautifully.
21:31 And the hair is a little bit on the finer side.
21:35 So, you have to work very carefully.
21:38 And when anybody tells you, you can't use sculpting shears on finer hair, I absolutely disagree.
21:46 Because it always depends how you use it.

21:51 What I don't do on this texture here, basically take my shear, cut from the root towards the end.
21:59 I'm creating many, many different lengths in between.
22:02 Absolutely not.
22:04 What I do here is I freehand the hair end.
22:09 I go in maybe an eighth of an inch.
22:11 And look at this.
22:13 It has a flat tip.
22:15 All my sliding shears.
22:17 So, I can't really hurt anyone when I sculpt hair this way.
22:21 Okay?
22:25 And I always check from behind.
22:29 I stand behind my clients, my model here, that the balance is absolutely, perfectly the same.
22:37 Can you see now how it's slowly starting to shape up here?
22:42 And what is really important is that you move that hair around.
22:47 Okay?
22:49 This is a job with our hands.
22:52 This is a little bit finer hair.
22:54 You need to move the hair around.

26:27 Lay the shear onto her skin, go up and down very gently.
26:32 And you don't have to worry because you have a flat tip.

34:27 So, it still leaves you.
34:29 I would say I'm actually not going to touch here anymore.

34:44 So, what I'm going to be doing now here is I'm just going to take very little
34:50 Carb Perfect Styling Wax.
34:54 The trick is to use little and then all over your hands.

35:10 And I actually just scrunched the hair here a dab in the back to get that alive.
35:17 But I just wanted to, I just pulled it again over the round brush to see the haircut as well.

35:32 And versatile hair.
35:37 It's short, but it isn't.
35:40 And I think that's also for somebody like my model here today who's getting, who's never had hair that short.
35:50 So, to her that is short.
35:52 And I think it's a great introductory.
