00:00 Yeah.
00:01 Hey there.
00:02 So this is Chris.
00:03 Hi.
00:04 So Chris reached out on Facebook, right?
00:05 Yes.
00:06 And we decided that she'd come all the way from Maryland.
00:07 She had to drive since 6.45.
00:08 It's now 10 AM.
00:09 Because she loves Amy's hair.
00:10 And so we're going to do it.
00:11 We're going to show you how because I know a lot of you ask how for your hair.
00:12 So you just put a hitch based on your hair.
00:13 And your hair's not quite as thick as Amy's.
00:14 Right.
00:15 She definitely has some wave in here though.
00:16 You blow it out straight.
00:17 But we'll work with that.
00:18 And we'll do it.
00:19 So we're going to do it.
00:20 So we're going to do it.
00:21 So we're going to do it.
00:22 So we're going to do it.
00:23 So we're going to do it.
00:30 So we're going to do it.
00:31 So we're going to do it.
00:32 So we're going to do it.
00:33 So we're going to do it.
00:34 So we're going to do it.
00:35 So we're going to do it.
00:36 So we're going to do it.
00:37 So we're going to do it.
00:38 So we're going to do it.
00:39 So we're going to do it.
00:40 So we're going to do it.
00:41 So we're going to do it.
00:42 So we're going to do it.
00:43 So we're going to do it.
00:44 So we're going to do it.
00:45 So we're going to do it.
00:46 So we're going to do it.
00:47 So we're going to do it.
00:48 So we're going to do it.
00:49 So we're going to do it.
00:50 So we're going to do it.
00:52 So actually the back of your hair is some thickness to it.
00:55 So I probably will do a little razor back there.
00:57 Maybe where it's more blonde.
00:59 I don't know if you're...
01:00 Excuse me, folks.
01:01 Sorry.
01:02 Do they do full highlights or partial?
01:05 What would be the difference?
01:08 Well, I don't know if I see quite as many highlights in the back.
01:11 I see a lot of hair.
01:12 She does all the way around.
01:14 She does all the way down.
01:15 Yes.
01:16 But it's like, you know, maybe 12 strands of hair.
01:20 Okay.
01:21 It'll curl.
01:22 It'll curl.
01:23 I'm just going to give you your neck a little pressure.
01:26 It's beautifully fine.
01:27 I don't want to...
01:28 Here we go.
01:31 So we're going to start.
01:36 I am going to just do the razor in the area that's where you definitely have your most fullness, it feels like.
01:43 It's very thick back there.
01:44 Okay.
01:45 So that'll just let it be a little bit light and natural.
01:49 Like when you use the razor to it, it just gives a much softer.
01:54 So you don't have to do it all around to the edges.
02:00 Sometimes where you highlight the hair, the edges are kind of already that way because it's filtrated.
02:05 That's why I don't...
02:07 I probably won't...
02:09 I didn't realize until I got in here that this part is not highlighted quite as much.
02:13 Which makes sense.
02:14 [ Indistinct ]
02:22 So we will be doing like...
02:24 I'm just going to...
02:25 Some of it's cutting as I go.
02:27 Like I'm just going to...
02:28 Because you said you'd like the ability to go natural sometimes.
02:31 And so...
02:34 That's going to be based on your hair.
02:38 Okay.
02:39 So like I want to cut it to a bigger, more natural length.
02:44 And then that's going to be...
02:45 You know how you said sometimes it just feels unkempt though or you don't like it so much.
02:49 So is there a particular pattern that you want to try to learn how to do?
02:56 Honestly, I don't really stop much time.
03:00 Okay.
03:01 So that might be the key.
03:05 Because...
03:06 What was the key?
03:07 She was saying when she was letting her hair...
03:10 When she let it dry by itself like other people like it, it's not quite as crazy about it.
03:14 And sometimes I find--I know for my own hair, if I don't have the right product in it, to me it just looks undone.
03:21 There's no like finish to it.
03:23 Yeah.
03:24 And I feel a little like I didn't do my hair.
03:26 Sometimes like a cream or a certain product that just gives it a nicer finish.
03:31 And a little bit more fullness because you're also getting fullness from the blow dryer that you're not getting when you let it dry by itself.
03:40 So it feels a little like maybe flat a little bit.
03:43 Yes.
03:44 Yeah.
03:45 And if you could say again why you're using the razor when you didn't use it on Amy.
03:52 I did use it on Amy.
03:53 Oh, you did use it on Amy?
03:54 Did I use it on Amy?
03:55 I don't know.
03:56 I always use it on Amy.
03:57 Oh.
03:58 Now I might--if we were going shorter, I might have taken the line first.
04:03 But the point being is, so Chris's hair, this is where she's so much--most thick.
04:08 And I really want that hair to stay like lifted off of her, like to bounce.
04:13 So by using the razor on the end, it makes it lighter.
04:21 It just has a lighter--and it's going to allow her wave to move a little more.
04:26 But the front of her hair is not so wavy, so I'm not going to use it on there because it's not going to react that way.
04:34 And plus it's color treated.
04:37 I mean really it's--and honestly, Chris, like my approach is kind of a little bit more on the artistic side.
04:45 You know, like what I feel is going to work for the hair is what I do.
04:49 So I just--I can feel or whatever, like if I don't feel the hair is going to work.
04:55 I just see how this is like that.
04:58 Just sort of swan a little bit of fuzziness.
05:00 I don't really want to take away for the back.
05:02 Not that razors are bad or anything like that.
05:05 And that's kind of the end result I get when I do hair dryers.
05:12 It's sort of like that fuzziness that's sort of like--yeah.
05:15 It's not like defined curls or defined waves.
05:19 [background noise]
05:25 But I will point it.
05:26 So instead of cutting it flat, this will still create that light.
05:31 Instead of cutting it like that way, I will cut the whole thing.
05:37 I mean it's still going to be a straight line.
05:39 [background noise]
05:45 So you said that usually you--back is a little shorter?
05:51 Yes.
05:54 And we're going to go for it.
05:55 We're going to definitely do the other side of face and under the ball.
05:58 Okay.
05:59 You're ready for that.
06:00 I am.
06:01 I like that.
06:02 I'm ready for an adventure.
06:03 I'm ready for my hair cut.
06:04 Rhonda says hello from Louisiana.
06:07 Hi, Rhonda.
06:08 [laughter]
06:10 Good day.
06:11 [background noise]
06:16 Already it's laying great.
06:17 [laughter]
06:19 Like that's great, right?
06:20 [background noise]
06:31 How's that length down here?
06:32 It's not really completely where it's going to be on.
06:34 Yeah.
06:35 [background noise]
06:38 There's one sweet cut more in there.
06:40 And so I'm pulling this out as well.
06:42 That's the difference probably the haircut they had.
06:45 But that's what's going to give me the lightness of that.
06:48 Okay.
06:49 And now I'm really starting to run into your highlights.
06:52 Okay.
06:53 That's why like so now I might not have to raise it quite as much.
06:55 Right.
06:56 But--
06:57 And is there a difference between stacked cut and a gradually cut?
07:02 Just a little bit of difference is really actually the same thing.
07:08 But when you're stacking, like this is stacking right now.
07:10 Okay.
07:11 But it's also graduation because it's graduating up.
07:14 But it's at a lesser amount.
07:16 Lesser angle.
07:17 Lesser angle.
07:18 Okay.
07:19 So with mine, it's very graduated, right?
07:21 Okay.
07:22 It's all the way up.
07:23 Right.
07:24 You know, where Zane's is kind of like stacked and then gradually.
07:25 Okay.
07:26 Because I know that--
07:27 She's longer.
07:28 Okay.
07:29 You know?
07:30 Well.
07:31 You know, like I'm actually thinking I'm going to grow my hair into baby style.
07:34 Really?
07:35 So it's getting there.
07:36 But that's what I'll be growing my graduation out.
07:38 Oh, okay.
07:39 You know, like so it's more--instead of this point, it's here.
07:42 So we kind of stack Amy and then we gradually cut.
07:45 Okay.
07:46 [Indistinct talking]
07:52 She's stacking it.
07:53 And that's why you still end up with that point.
07:55 Okay.
07:56 And she doesn't change her hair, which is good.
07:58 Like that's a great cut.
07:59 [Indistinct talking]
08:02 With this little bump right here.
08:04 Right.
08:05 And then if you don't release that, that's that style.
08:07 Okay.
08:08 But we're actually going to be releasing that style.
08:10 Okay.
08:11 [Indistinct talking]
08:15 Cute.
08:16 All right, we're going to go eat some arugula.
08:18 [Laughter]
08:19 Okay.
08:20 [Indistinct talking]
08:28 And do you ever like tuck this behind your ear or--
08:31 I do.
08:32 Okay, good.
08:33 [Laughter]
08:34 I'm like a white guy.
08:35 [Laughter]
08:37 [Indistinct talking]
08:48 Is it a boring thing doing it on camera?
08:50 No.
08:51 Okay.
08:52 [Laughter]
08:53 Sometimes it feels a little like--what did I say?
08:56 Well, you're not mature.
08:57 Yeah, right.
08:58 No swearing today.
09:00 [Laughter]
09:03 [Indistinct talking]
09:14 So the length is probably just a little bit longer than what it's going to end up to be
09:18 just because the difference with your other haircut because it was stacked,
09:22 the length was the length and it stayed there.
09:24 But once I start releasing more weight and stuff, it all shrinks up a bit.
09:27 Okay.
09:28 You know, like you said, I'll be playing with it the whole time.
09:31 We might cut more.
09:32 I'm going to plan what I'm going to do.
09:35 [Indistinct talking]
09:54 Do you like kind of where we're at or do you feel that that's--
09:58 We can go shorter.
10:00 Okay, cool.
10:01 [Laughter]
10:03 We have a few questions.
10:05 Rhonda wants to know if you juiced our client today.
10:08 Yes.
10:09 What did you think about that?
10:10 It was wonderful.
10:11 Yeah?
10:12 Did it feel great?
10:13 It was so much more wonderful and it was enjoyable.
10:15 Right, and even your hair, the way it's like lifted, a lot of it's from--
10:19 And Sharon said that she loves her juice and so does Rhonda.
10:24 Yay.
10:27 And Holly Reed says she's so jealous and she can't imagine getting her hair done by you.
10:33 You seem like a wonderful person.
10:34 Aw.
10:41 Now I'm going in here and I'm just cutting her--
10:44 And now we raise it like I'm cutting this bottom line up because she's all for shorter.
10:50 She's good.
10:51 She's not nervous to be short and we want to be shorter than eight years.
11:07 Wow.
11:09 Thank you.
11:18 What's that?
11:19 It's always a good sign when someone says it like that.
11:20 Yeah.
11:27 I'm going to have to play with it a little bit.
11:31 I want it to be short enough for you but I don't want it to be too short.
11:41 And when we dry it, we'll be drying it--
11:48 I will blow it out as well and then because you're getting your color, we'll be able to do a different style later.
11:54 I'm going to show you.
11:57 By cutting it natural, like I'm cutting it natural with your hair, I know that it's going to work this way.
12:04 But I need to blow it out to make sure it works that way.
12:08 I can't change anything.
12:09 Because I always find, especially with the curly hair like even myself, if it works--
12:16 If you cut it towards this wave and then it works straight, it will always work wavy.
12:21 Oh, okay.
12:22 If you completely cut it towards straight, you can't get the wave in it.
12:27 Usually.
12:28 If people cut my hair, mine is curly.
12:32 If they cut it based on straight hair type, the curl doesn't like to do its job.
12:37 When it's time to do that, you kind of have to do both.
12:41 No.
12:42 Because then you can't do it all.
12:44 Which really, with my hair, doesn't work at all because if it's ever done, it's not going straight whether I like it or not.
12:51 That's the down time about having waves and part of the time, straight, is that when summertime humidity hits, you lose everything that you did.
12:59 All the work that you did to get it straight because there's not going to be any humidity outside.
13:03 So this is the way to go.
13:05 Oh, my gosh.
13:06 Yeah.
13:07 Yeah.
13:08 [unclear dialogue]
13:16 You can always cut down your hair after this.
13:18 Like if you have to.
13:19 Yeah, if you have to.
13:20 [unclear dialogue]
13:28 Then it's great.
13:29 Yeah.
13:30 [unclear dialogue]
13:35 Nancy's also saying she loves the juice and that it feels amazing.
13:40 And the general consensus is we love when you show us styling in real time.
13:48 Yeah, that's true.
13:49 It's extra informative.
13:51 That's so awesome.
13:52 I feel like it's -- I love what I do.
13:54 I mean, obviously, I do it all day.
13:56 But I just think like sometimes I'm like, "Wow, I'm awesome."
14:00 I don't have pet dogs.
14:02 Like a lot of my clients, like their mom over there, like they love when they're getting their hair colored.
14:07 And they just sit and watch.
14:09 Like they watch the stylist and stuff.
14:11 [unclear dialogue]
14:16 We have another question.
14:17 Can anyone get Amy's hair cut?
14:20 If not, please share what type of hair you would say would be best for it.
14:24 Well, anyone can get it for sure.
14:27 But, you know, it's going to lay different on different people.
14:31 And you have to -- you do have to like -- I do have to cut Chris's a little bit different.
14:35 Because I'm going for the same feel and vibe.
14:39 But I've got to make sure it works for her hair.
14:41 But, I mean, if your hair is really, really thin and baby-fine, you can still get the cut.
14:49 But I mean, it's obviously going to have a different feel and look.
14:53 Because her hair is so thick.
14:56 Chris's hair is -- her actual hair is somewhat fine, right, you would say?
15:01 But she has a ton of it.
15:02 Yes.
15:03 You know, good density and strong.
15:05 Like it's not a weak fine at all.
15:07 Your hair is not like a fine where, you know, you were breaking it or something like that.
15:12 Like you would color it.
15:17 So what I'm doing right now is I'm just getting this side ready for the asymmetrical.
15:21 Because she goes this way.
15:23 So this is the ideal side to be shorter.
15:27 I'm just getting this so it still looks good with the other side, but it has an asymmetrical look.
15:34 I mean, I have to kind of get that shortness to blend with the rest of the cut.
15:41 It's really looking good.
15:44 Very brave lady here.
15:50 And if you're wondering why that I'm doing all this -- see how I flick up?
15:55 Like I'm flicking this up and then cutting?
15:58 Because it forces the hair to do that.
16:01 So I'm going to end up giving her more fullness by doing that.
16:07 You can manipulate the hair to do different things.
16:11 So I just like to manipulate that a little bit so it will pick out.
16:19 So this is our asymmetrical side.
16:21 Can you grab me a minute?
16:28 This is the longer side.
16:43 So this is more graduation because I'm really pulling out.
16:52 So the good news is when you go back to Maryland you have an entire video.
16:57 For your stylist.
17:01 And how long you've been going to her.
17:04 And how much she'll want it.
17:06 I've been going to her for quite a while.
17:08 Have you?
17:09 Yeah.
17:10 How long?
17:11 Probably about 15 years.
17:12 Yeah?
17:13 She used to run a salon and then -- okay.
17:17 She used to run a salon and then she made some changes to it.
17:21 So now she has like a mini salon.
17:24 A mini salon.
17:25 So there's this -- there's this -- where you can basically purchase a mini hair in the office.
17:34 Yeah, that's a big thing.
17:35 Yes.
17:36 Well, that's what she's got.
17:37 Not legal here yet in PA.
17:38 Really?
17:39 But it's in Delaware, it's in Maryland.
17:41 Yes.
17:42 Well, that's what she has in Maryland.
17:43 So she sort of owns her own salon but it's just her and one other stylist.
17:47 In her suite?
17:48 In her suite, yes.
17:49 How do you like the two chairs?
17:51 I'm just curious.
17:52 I'm not very familiar with that.
17:53 You know, I'm not -- what I don't like is -- like, I like being in the middle of like the hustle and bustle of a salon.
18:03 And I like watching -- I'm a people watcher so I love watching other people.
18:07 And you can't get that in the suite environment because all you have is, you know, it's three walls and you have the one sliding glass door that lets you in and out of it.
18:16 And then it's just one way down the line with the salons right next to each other.
18:21 So you don't really get that interaction with other people just with, you know, your stylist and then the one other person that they have with them.
18:28 So I kind of -- for me it's a little dorky.
18:31 Yeah, right.
18:32 But I, you know --
18:33 I can understand that.
18:34 I understand that.
18:35 And that's a big difference especially if that's what you've done all along.
18:38 Yeah.
18:42 And it is inspiring I think.
18:44 Like, I mean, I know my staff because there's -- there's 38 stylists.
18:50 Oh, wow.
18:51 Yeah.
18:52 And we feed off of them, right?
18:54 So I know the staff that works here.
18:57 That's why they work in that environment because there's inspiration in what I see somebody else do.
19:04 I love like the, you know, wheelchair and looking at somebody else doing it and telling somebody, "Oh, I like that.
19:10 I'll step in and help," you know?
19:11 And it gives me that.
19:15 And beyond that I like the three things, kind of just the stuff.
19:22 So do you -- I'm just curious because, you know, you've gone to the -- you're a stylist for a long time.
19:29 So, one, is it nervous?
19:33 Like, was it a little nervous?
19:35 About having somebody else come in here?
19:37 I am, but if you remember when I messaged you, I asked you a lot of questions.
19:42 Yeah.
19:43 And I said because --
19:44 I was sad to hear that.
19:45 Because I'm a little picky about my hair.
19:48 I'm very, you know, particular about it.
19:52 I don't know, it's just the one asset that I think I have that's the best.
19:56 So, yeah, I was a little picky.
19:58 But I've never seen you do -- all of your work is great.
20:02 Like I love Kirsten's cut, I love Amy's cut, I love Sean's cut.
20:06 And so I felt comfortable that you would know what I do with me, you know, my texture and everything.
20:16 Did you feel a little bit nervous?
20:18 I think a little bit nervous of wondering what it's going to all end up looking like.
20:21 Yeah, right, right.
20:22 Because obviously, you know, I'm not going to walk out looking like Amy with my hair color.
20:26 But, yeah, I mean, it's even more nervous, you know, when she did my hair.
20:31 Because she always did her own little spin, you know, like, when we did pictures and stuff, she would do her little spin on it.
20:37 Right.
20:38 And it'd be like, okay, what's she doing, you know, how's it going to end up.
20:41 And so, but, you know, she always did good work as well.
20:44 Right, right.
20:45 But does it feel different what I'm doing or not?
20:49 Yeah, it does.
20:50 Does it?
20:51 Yes.
20:52 I think sometimes when, like, I hear even, like, we're very much like, you know, trying to go to different people.
20:57 Like, they don't, you know, obviously, you know, people have their favorites or whatever.
21:01 Sure.
21:02 But they will, you know, if they really can't get in with themselves, we'll go to Mommy's house.
21:06 Because we do train together and, you know, they see them, like you said, they watch them when we're here.
21:11 But I kind of think it's fun. It's almost like going to a different designer or a different clothing designer.
21:17 Like, because you can only get, I mean, people have their own work, right?
21:21 Right, right.
21:22 So sometimes it's just fun to try something different.
21:26 And it's nice to get somebody else's perspective and view.
21:28 Like, sometimes I wonder, is she so used to my hair that she sees it in one way?
21:33 Right, right, right.
21:34 And it's like, it'd be nice to have somebody else look at it and see if there's some potential for, you know, a different style or a different nuance of it.
21:40 100%. Very true.
21:43 That's the thing I think about.
21:47 Sometimes it's just nice to hear.
21:50 And I get that all the time, anywhere I am.
21:52 People, they'll just be like, if they, you know, anyway, like I was at my friend's basketball game and one of the moms was just like, "So what would you do with my hair?"
22:03 You know, it's just like, you just want to know, like, what's your perspective?
22:07 Because obviously everybody's a little different.
22:10 I think it's, I always tell my mom, it's a very loaded question.
22:14 And it takes a lot of information to come up with a decision.
22:18 Because I don't really, I don't like, I've never like just envisioned what I want to do on somebody.
22:24 Because I think what I want to do on somebody has a lot to do with what you say to me.
22:28 You know, like when, you know, like you do blow dry your hair or you don't blow dry your hair.
22:33 I mean, I can't really do something on you that you can't do.
22:35 Like say I think, "Oh my God, this, I'm never going to have to do this."
22:38 I'm like, "Well, I'm going to do that tomorrow."
22:40 Yeah, so I'm like, "That, my work won't look good anyway."
22:43 So, I do think that, I always think it's funny when somebody asks, I'm like, "That's crazy."
22:50 That takes at least a minimum of a 15 minute conversation to even let me go there.
22:56 Catherine says hi.
23:00 Hi, Catherine.
23:02 And Barbie says she's growing out her pixie since last February.
23:07 She's super ready for a new fun look.
23:10 Possibly like this.
23:12 She's growing out her pixie.
23:14 Yeah, that's...
23:15 She wants a new...
23:16 Since when did you say?
23:17 February.
23:18 Oh, a year ago.
23:19 So like almost a year, yeah.
23:21 I wonder if you're as long as me now maybe?
23:24 A year?
23:25 Maybe longer, maybe.
23:28 I'm not sure if that makes you less.
23:31 Huh?
23:32 Just commitment?
23:34 Yeah.
23:35 Well, your hairstyle is this great look, I will tell you that.
23:38 Your color is beautiful, and your cut is really nice.
23:42 And also I get so many compliments from your color.
23:45 Your color is so natural.
23:47 100%.
23:49 I love how natural it is, actually.
23:55 Were you blonde?
23:57 I wasn't blonde.
23:59 I was a dirty blonde all the time, right?
24:01 When she was young, was she very blonde?
24:04 Yes.
24:05 You look like you were used to it.
24:07 Brenda would like to know...
24:10 She has a question about her face shape to her haircut.
24:14 She says she has a more round face and was just wondering if shorter hair would look better.
24:20 Because right now my hair is a little bit past mid-back.
24:23 I just had six inches cut off from then, too.
24:26 So she has long hair, but she's thinking about cutting it and wants to know if it can suit around her face.
24:31 Yeah, without a doubt.
24:33 I think there's a misconception that if your face is round or full that you can't have short hair.
24:42 And a lot of times it's quite the contrary.
24:45 A lot of times it thins it out and makes it...
24:47 But it's got to be the right cut.
24:49 So if your face is round and full and you get a round and full haircut, that's not probably going to work out.
24:55 And sometimes if it's cut right at the wrong spot.
24:58 So you just want to really work with the stylist that's going to tell you, right?
25:04 I wanted to make sure I told you how I was going to do, what I was going to do, and make sure that you're comfortable.
25:11 But if you're going to cut it, make sure when the stylist tells you what she's going to do that you think that makes sense.
25:18 And you'll like it.
25:20 When I was talking to you, I told you that I had a full face and that I wasn't sure if the cut would work with my face shape.
25:26 So you're very good about taking that into consideration.
25:31 And you'll see that.
25:32 I mean, and you've already had short hair.
25:34 When it was short, it wouldn't work.
25:36 I mean, it looked great, right?
25:38 Right.
25:39 That is a really -- for some reason, it's interesting because I find most people can wear most lengths, whatever length is comfortable for them, right?
25:50 Like some people can't work with long hair forever, you know, or whatever.
25:53 Like Amy, she just feels like when her hair grows out that it's not stylish anymore.
25:58 And she doesn't feel bad to look, you know?
26:02 So it doesn't mean she doesn't look good all the time.
26:05 But I think you can do any length, but just saying like somebody's a full face shape and how long you cut your hair, it's different.
26:16 Right.
26:17 But maybe they think just a long length is better.
26:21 Exactly.
26:22 I think that's right.
26:23 So this is now how high I'm looking.
26:26 This is more of a graduation.
26:28 I don't know if you remember being lifted so high in your pedicure.
26:32 No, never.
26:33 So you'll have a different feel to your hair.
26:38 Plus, it's all about the kind of effect you're looking for.
26:52 And this cut's all about having no corners.
26:54 So a lot of times you'll see a full section, there'll be a corner, and then I take it off.
26:59 Look at your waves.
27:04 If I could get it to look that nice and smooth when it's dry.
27:07 We're going to do that.
27:08 Okay.
27:14 On this one, it's just about--
27:17 Okay, let's say like the marine mist, the salt mist spray or the acetate spray will give you a little bit even more curl.
27:31 Judith says good morning.
27:32 Good morning.
27:34 Good morning, we're just cutting hair this morning.
27:36 Your homework.
27:40 Stephanie says that she needs those clips, the hair clips that you're using to stretch the hair out.
27:44 They're the best clips in the whole business.
27:49 I think it's Charlotte.
27:51 Yeah.
27:52 Is she stylist or she just gave them?
27:55 I'll find out and post it.
27:57 These are the best ones.
27:58 It's funny because I gave them to our stylist.
28:03 Look how much hair we took off.
28:04 I know.
28:05 Look at this.
28:06 It's great.
28:07 She's swimming you.
28:08 We should clean you up a little bit.
28:10 I'm sorry.
28:11 It's okay.
28:12 It's kind of weird.
28:14 You need a little bit of mist.
28:19 And another good morning from Jacksonville, Florida.
28:22 There, lucky Jacksonville.
28:24 Let's do mine.
28:25 Thanks.
28:26 I'm going to put some more in there.
28:27 The bottom wasn't cut.
28:29 A lot of people ask me about wet cutting, dry cutting and wet cutting.
28:35 This is a perfect example.
28:37 A lot of times we'll all dry cut, but you had nothing of what I wanted to cut in the cut.
28:42 I needed to cut you wet so I could see your hair react.
28:45 And even now that this is drying and this is the straighter part, I don't want it.
28:49 I want it to be as good as everything else because it's doing a different thing now than it was doing when it was wet.
28:55 So I'll miss that.
28:56 And plus we're going to be cutting into here and this stuff is now dry.
29:00 Do you feel lighter?
29:02 I do.
29:04 So Alexis is hanging out.
29:07 Alexis, you can come in.
29:08 She's going to do the color for me today since my schedule was a little loaded.
29:13 So I just wanted to see this because I'm going to be cutting it out soon.
29:16 You're not going to see my house.
29:18 And this is Ellen from our--
29:20 Hi, Ellen.
29:21 Nice to meet you.
29:22 So we were just remarking on how beautiful her color is.
29:26 It's literally beautiful.
29:27 Her hair has that natural shine.
29:30 I don't know if she's probably not using lightener, right?
29:33 No, she's using highlights.
29:34 Yeah, it's like a highlight.
29:35 Yeah, beautiful highlight.
29:37 But I wanted you to do it because we are cutting so much after so that once I--
29:43 I'm going to style, I don't know if it's okay with you, just because I want to do the cut based on--
29:49 Do the haircut based on it.
29:51 On it.
29:52 I'll see you next month.
29:53 Thank you.
29:54 All I'm going to do right now is just take this off so I can see where we're at.
29:57 But look, women can leave this on longer.
30:01 It's a little ice on it.
30:03 So don't.
30:05 Just checking.
30:07 How are you feeling there?
30:15 Good.
30:16 You are?
30:17 No, no.
30:19 Very Amy Housley.
30:26 [laughter]
30:27 That's so nice.
30:30 So this is the part where people ask, but we do want a little bit of layer in there.
30:36 So the graduation's all there, and all I'm going to do is break up this top corner and the end corner.
30:45 So that's what's just going to release that so it's not too bubbly.
30:51 But because of the graduation and stuff, you're still going to have that, for lack of a better word, of the bubble.
30:59 Do you know what I'm talking about?
31:00 Like, kind of this roundness to it?
31:03 Yes.
31:04 Because Amy still has that, but it's not like cornery.
31:07 So that's what we're going to do now.
31:09 So we're leaving that graduation, but then we're taking this top and we're kind of creating another corner.
31:18 But when I get to the corner, I soften that out so that there isn't one.
31:22 You'll be able to cut your own when you get home after this video.
31:26 [laughter]
31:29 So you've had a disaster in your life.
31:32 [laughter]
31:33 Yeah, I didn't realize you had that, did I?
31:35 Although I've been learning to cut bangs when I haven't been able to get somebody to do them for me, and they have been disastrous.
31:40 Oh, they have. It's not your thing.
31:42 Not my thing. There's a reason I have to go somewhere else.
31:57 So now front hair is just a little bit of a change because we don't have all this hair.
32:02 Right? Like, this is the stack of hair.
32:04 So I just go to the top corner and I spread it out with my knuckle so that it's super light.
32:09 Diana wants to know if juice will be good for her curly hair.
32:25 Juice, um...
32:27 Shampoo and conditioner, I think.
32:29 My hair is very curly.
32:30 And the answer is yes.
32:32 And I have a lot of curly clients using it now, and they love it.
32:36 Because it's so...
32:37 Actually, I like my curls better because it's such a light, airy feel.
32:41 Right, did you hear?
32:42 How to feel...
32:43 I don't know. It just feels light.
32:45 And so for curls, that's always a really nice thing.
32:47 Because they curl better when they're not, like, heavy.
32:50 And it's plenty conditioning for the curls.
32:54 And it's really moisturizing, which is more important for the hair to put on.
32:57 And then, speaking of that...
32:59 Um...
33:01 Another person would like to know if they should use less than a pump full of conditioner
33:07 if they feel like they're not able to get as much volume after shampooing.
33:11 Yeah, so if you've been using it...
33:13 Yeah, because you want to make sure it's rinsed real well.
33:15 And...
33:17 Yeah, not everybody needs it.
33:19 It's hard to tell everybody how much to use.
33:21 But I say yes to that for sure.
33:23 Because if you use too much, it's hard to rinse out.
33:27 You know, everybody's going to use too much.
33:30 [laughter]
33:41 So, um...
33:50 Alexis, what are we thinking for...
33:53 For the color? I'm seeing some pieces that look a little lighter here and there.
33:56 Right.
33:57 Um...
33:58 I'm probably thinking...
34:00 The 1001.
34:01 Okay.
34:02 Maybe a few lightener with...
34:04 I don't want to do any lightener.
34:05 You don't want to do any lightener. Okay.
34:07 So, if anything, you can go...
34:08 So, I'll probably just 1001, maybe 1001 and 1000.
34:10 Perfect.
34:11 And if you feel, I mean, if you want to do...
34:14 With what, 30?
34:16 Yes.
34:17 So, I mean, if you wanted...
34:19 I think that would be fine.
34:20 Because her hair feels like it comes up really well.
34:22 I could get in her base color.
34:23 Yeah.
34:24 It looks like it's a...
34:25 It'll look nicely.
34:26 And the only other thing I was thinking...
34:30 Is unless we just wanted...
34:32 Say we did 1000.
34:34 You could do one with 30, one with 20.
34:37 Just for some interest in the color, you know?
34:41 Mm-hmm.
34:43 [inaudible]
34:50 Cute.
34:52 Cute.
34:53 Is her hair still going away?
34:56 No.
34:57 [inaudible]
35:03 You know how Amy always says she'll come in and tell me that she wants a cut that she can embellish?
35:10 Right.
35:11 That's this, what I'm doing now.
35:12 Oh, okay.
35:13 When you put a lot of texture in it so that you can make it do other things.
35:17 And like I said, though, I'm going to...
35:18 Before she...
35:19 I just want to show her.
35:22 It does have a nice gold.
35:24 It does.
35:25 Like a pretty gold, but not gold.
35:26 Absolutely does.
35:27 But we're going to...
35:34 I'm going to blow-dry her just because I want to make sure everything's right with her hair.
35:37 So we'll make sure it's going to look pretty straight to her.
35:40 Okay.
35:41 So for everyone who's here now on the live video, if you just want to remind them what we're doing and where we started.
35:51 You want to do that?
35:53 No, I'm just kidding.
35:54 Were you saying me?
35:55 Yeah.
35:56 I thought you were going to do it for me.
35:57 So, Miss Chris here and her mom, Ellen, drove all the way up because she reached out to me on Facebook and said she really, really wanted Amy's similar cut
36:09 or just something a little different and would love to come up.
36:12 And so we were able to make the time.
36:13 She was very patient, right?
36:14 Because of my schedule.
36:15 I'm sorry about that.
36:16 That's okay.
36:17 Leave it on QVC.
36:18 Yes.
36:19 Exactly.
36:20 It does.
36:21 And I'm so grateful.
36:22 I don't even know how it worked.
36:23 Sometimes, you know, sometimes it takes a couple tries when I've done this before because then I get it working last minute.
36:28 But once, like, Tuesday, Monday, I was like, "This will be pretty good."
36:32 And then once Tuesday, because now we try to ask them not to do us last minute because it's harder to get it done.
36:38 Oh, okay.
36:39 It's not me so much because I'm close.
36:41 Right.
36:42 So, anyway, so she's -- it's been quite some time since her stylist did it.
36:49 Yes.
36:50 And she came up and we're giving her "Inspired by Amy's Step," which is a lot more textured than the way we've been getting it cut, I would say, right?
37:00 If there's one of the biggest changes I'm doing.
37:03 Yes.
37:04 Right?
37:07 And her highlights, it's been a while, so we're going to do those, too.
37:10 And we did do asymmetrical.
37:12 You should see all this wave in the back.
37:18 Wave in the back, pretty?
37:20 Yeah, so pretty.
37:22 Ellen, the whole time you're there, you're reminding me of my mom, which is special.
37:28 Maybe my mom's doing it.
37:30 She is.
37:31 She's so sweet.
37:33 My mom had beautiful hair like yours, beautiful white.
37:37 Jamie would like to know if your haircut, Maria, is also considered an Amy Strain cut, too.
37:43 It's a much shorter version, and I have -- but the reason why I'm going to say yes, I just told Chris, like, I'm growing out.
37:52 I kind of want it a little longer for the summer because my hair is so curly.
37:55 It'll be curly a lot.
37:57 It shrinks so much that I usually try to get a little more length in the summer.
38:03 But, yeah, it's the same, very, very, very similar.
38:08 I'm still a lot shorter than her, though.
38:11 So now I'm just putting that bottom line in just like I do Amy, but Chris and I decided that hers is going to go shorter because, you know, she'll just get longer last out of it.
38:23 She can go a few months, a little extra.
38:27 Joy says that she loves watching your videos and that they're almost soothing to watch people get new hairstyles.
38:34 That's what I'm coming to find.
38:36 People love that.
38:37 Another thing I like to do with the razor, just for women, a little FYI, is that I don't ever take a clipper to a woman's neck because the razor just makes it softer and then it's never stubble.
38:51 Yeah, so I don't ever...
38:53 And really, generally, what happens in your hair is it's going to grow over the slime anyway, you know, and then it grows all together naturally.
39:00 I guess I can make it.
39:17 I think I'm saying it right. Marguerite said, "This is better than binge watching Netflix."
39:22 Oh my God, really? Because my favorite binge watching right now is Grace and Frankie.
39:28 Oh.
39:29 Do you guys ever watch that? It's Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.
39:34 I watch them.
39:35 And it is the funniest thing.
39:36 You do?
39:37 Mm-hmm.
39:38 Wait, I have to show Mom the back.
39:45 The back.
39:46 I like that.
39:47 Yeah?
39:48 It looks good.
39:49 Mom's a very nice person.
39:50 Mom's the most...
39:52 That's what my theory is.
39:54 Even though we fight that hurt.
39:57 Yes.
39:58 It hurts half my life, but I'm sorry.
40:00 Yeah, that's why I can't believe you have all this friendship.
40:03 You have a lot of hair.
40:22 Really?
40:24 Yeah, because very much like Amy's like...
40:29 Mm-hmm.
40:30 It's definitely can be pretty weighted.
40:33 You know, like I'm speaking lightly, but obviously I'm not thinking much.
40:39 Right.
40:40 But it's clearly...
40:41 So, you know, a lot of people were asking about, and I have this for my hair, and I cut your hair as if it was fine.
40:51 It is fine.
40:52 It is fine, but it's a lot of it.
40:55 And it's still too much, you know, it's more than what I need to be here.
41:04 So, but if you were even more fine, I would have stopped here.
41:08 Like that's a good answer to that question, I think.
41:12 Right here, you'll see it, that corner bulk.
41:22 Oh, yeah.
41:24 So that, you have to make that to have the look that we're looking for.
41:28 And the finer the hair, the more you make it.
41:32 Like with Amy's, I don't have to make it as much or whatever.
41:35 With yours, believe it or not, it's probably more than I thought it would be there.
41:40 Jamie wanted to know what you were just spraying in her hair.
41:43 That actually was just water, because I'm just keeping her the same amount of dampness while I'm cutting it.
41:48 So that was only water.
41:51 Though I will spray later, something to make it a little curlier to show her that.
41:56 And apparently you're not the only Grace and Frankie fan.
42:02 Is that a circle? I literally laugh out loud.
42:06 Those two are so funny.
42:08 I always thought Lily Tomlin was terrible.
42:10 Jane Fonda, I enjoy watching her.
42:12 And they're 70, well, it's five year, it's going on its fifth season, so they're 75 now, right?
42:20 They started when they were 70, so it's kind of all related to what's happened in life, you know, as we age.
42:27 There we go.
42:29 How's that?
42:32 So the more that you see this, would you consider wearing it?
42:36 Natural? Oh yeah.
42:38 Does it feel like it'll work a little better natural?
42:41 Mm-hmm.
42:42 Okay.
42:43 Am I okay, Alexis, for your schedule? What do we got?
42:56 Oh good, we're good.
42:58 Debbie says she loves the haircut so far.
43:04 Aw, thank you.
43:06 Yeah, let's get some thumbs up.
43:08 Make her feel better.
43:12 Oh yeah.
43:13 So what do you think about the 1001? I'm concerned it'll be too flat. Do you think or no?
43:40 Because you said that you think that you were just going to block.
43:43 I think she doesn't.
43:48 What do you mean, tell me what you mean.
43:58 Oh, you think, you don't, you think 1001.
44:04 But then maybe, then, what do you think about 1000?
44:09 If you feel comfortable with that, I don't want to change it, but I was just going to ask what you think about 1000.
44:14 Or no, 30 and 40.
44:18 Oh, 30 and 40, that would be good.
44:20 Alright, we're just creating a little bit of bang. We still have her long piece, but we just don't want that heavy thing in her face all the time, so that's what that was.
44:36 Joy said that this cut is great, but she also was saying how she really thinks it compliments when people have this haircut and they also have to wear their glasses sometimes or all the time.
44:47 A good complimentary glasses.
44:50 Like it looks good with it.
44:52 Yeah, I'm great with that.
44:53 Is that part falling in the right spot?
45:03 Yeah.
45:04 I'm just following the cut.
45:06 So now we have to, so you saw what kind of happened there when I created that.
45:15 So we do need a, this is a part of Amy's too, so, because she can't have it hanging in her face.
45:20 Right.
45:21 So we leave all this length because we like what's happening.
45:24 So I'm not going to take away from that length, but we're kind of cutting.
45:29 Yeah.
45:30 We have more questions about this haircut in particular.
45:38 Carrie wants to know if you think this haircut will suit women of all sizes and ages, or if it's more geared to one specific.
45:49 Yeah, I mean as far as ages go, yeah I don't know.
45:56 I mean I think that when you're a lot younger, you're 20, sometimes you can make it a little edgier.
46:02 Because they look cute no matter what they're doing.
46:05 But like you know, so you might have some bluntness or whatever, you can change it that way.
46:10 Size is without a doubt, because that's where I think this is beneficial because it's not so round, right?
46:19 So any size is still okay.
46:21 Because sometimes when cuts are round, then you might not put them on a rounder shape or fuller shape.
46:27 But see how that just changes, I mean this shape right here, even I haven't done this side yet, this is round.
46:34 This is broken into.
46:35 And I think this is very complementary, don't you think?
46:39 I absolutely do.
46:40 Do you?
46:41 Okay.
46:42 It just changes.
46:43 Absolutely.
46:44 I love it.
46:45 I know.
46:48 I know.
46:49 Okay.
46:50 Can I put you on the spot?
46:54 You can keep going.
46:55 Yay!
46:57 Okay, cool.
46:58 I will take it off any second.
46:59 I haven't had anybody else that I've been able to film with Amy's head.
47:07 With Amy's head.
47:08 Okay.
47:17 Also she looks great in the back.
47:19 I think so.
47:20 And Nicola says, "So cute."
47:24 All I'm going to do right now, because she's going to be calling me, I'm just going to use a little Achieve 10.
47:32 It's just a cream styling product, but I'll probably use Juice when I style you.
47:36 But just so there's something.
47:42 I generally always style with something.
47:44 It's neat, I don't have to deal with flyaways.
47:48 Mm-hmm.
47:49 Did you ever see that?
48:04 Did you see the first one?
48:05 Yeah.
48:06 It was funny.
48:09 Yeah.
48:10 And sometimes I feel like I am.
48:12 That wasn't as funny as the first one.
48:22 Wow.
48:23 We kind of laughed out loud for it.
48:25 Marguerite wants to know if we're going to be able to see the end result with the new color.
48:30 Yes, so what we'll do is, I'm just going to dry this a little bit, because I need to just see that the texture is working before she gets her color.
48:37 And then we'll color her hair and we'll come back in.
48:41 We'll do an after.
48:44 That's what I really want to do.
48:46 And the color gives you a lot of volume, right?
48:49 And I'm not going to fully style you.
49:01 I'm just going to clarify the texture.
49:03 It's going to be great when it's done.
49:19 So, is your color beautiful?
49:21 I'm sorry, we know that.
49:23 We know it's great.
49:24 Is there anything that you would do differently or anything you guys wanted that would give a little bit of more lightness, like framing my face?
49:36 Um, well that's the question.
