00:00 from a different country, you've got an interpreter on stage, it's absolutely great.
00:06 You must have had some brilliant times then.
00:08 Oh, amazing times.
00:09 Most of them.
00:10 It's quite scary actually, because when I stood up here then I was thinking,
00:13 what do I tell you, because I don't really like getting up and boasting,
00:17 it's a question of sharing.
00:19 It's not boasting, is it?
00:21 No.
00:22 It's not.
00:23 My mum and dad have been really good, I mean they've paid a lot of money out for me.
00:26 Isn't that right?
00:27 Absolutely.
00:28 To go training down London and get around the world,
00:32 to cut hair in Las Vegas, Los Angeles,
00:36 it's been some great experiences.
00:40 And to work for big companies as well to get an opportunity.
00:44 Absolutely.
00:46 It's going to be my dream.
00:51 You'll feel brilliant when you finish it, trust me.
00:55 It really is.
00:58 Like I say, preparation is the key.
01:01 I always find it really, really important.
01:04 Yeah, exactly, but the thing is I need to make it so it's easy for you.
01:11 Which is what's important.
01:13 Exactly.
01:15 So I'm making it that way, that's why I always do a nice consultation for somebody
01:20 because then you're able to make it so it's easy for them.
01:24 Which makes the difference.
01:26 This way, which I've done.
01:34 Almost there now.
01:37 This will be the natural form.
01:39 Yeah.
01:40 Which is good.
01:41 Okay, there we go.
01:43 So that's all mine.
01:45 Okay.
01:46 I just need to rub this.
01:49 I'm getting old, I need to sit down.
01:53 Right, so.
01:55 There we go, so let's get the back ready first.
01:59 Come on over my shoulder if you want to, Peter.
02:03 I may do that.
02:05 Get in as close as you like, it's fine.
02:08 I don't mind.
02:09 I was just saying earlier on it would be nice if I got the chair that rotated round.
02:21 It would have been fabulous.
02:22 Oh, that would be good too.
02:23 Because normally that's what I have, a rotating chair.
02:25 Yeah, that would have been really good.
02:27 Which is really, really good.
02:29 No where to hold on this one.
02:31 No where to hold on this circle.
02:33 Come on in, come on in.
02:35 Don't be scared.
02:36 Not cut the door.
02:37 So keep your head as low as you can.
02:39 This is perfect.
02:40 Stay exactly there.
02:42 There's no where to escape.
02:44 I would do this as far as I can.
02:47 Don't worry.
02:49 That's good.
02:50 Come on in my little friend.
02:56 We were doing this last night, we were cutting live to camera last night.
03:02 Where were you?
03:03 Inside the salon, we were doing a gents haircut.
03:05 Oh wow.
03:06 We have people watching from all over the world.
03:08 Who's on there, Dad?
03:09 Anybody from America?
03:11 I'm guessing America's on, Australia.
03:13 I thought you said you had a client from Chicago.
03:15 No, I'm from Chicago.
03:16 We've got a Chicago watching, how cool is that?
03:18 How cool.
03:19 We had a day of live today.
03:21 That's it.
03:23 Okay, we're going in.
03:25 Next door.
03:27 It's a little magic show, you see.
03:29 It's one of the great things about everything.
03:33 Somebody from France might be coming.
03:37 I wish I could cut hair.
03:38 So 36 what?
03:39 Excellent.
03:40 And also the motor joiners.
03:46 So good, so good.
03:48 See normally we'd have a cameraman over my shoulder,
03:51 beam it onto a screen,
03:53 you could see exactly what I'm doing.
03:54 You're really good because you're really close up,
03:55 you can really see any mistakes, and you'll see it now.
03:59 Close.
04:03 There he is, look.
04:04 Jason Long.
04:06 Sorry, James Long.
04:07 What should I say?
04:12 Rolex brother.
04:13 Oh yeah.
04:14 Right, so now, just going to take this a second.
04:24 I'm just going to move the chair, so mind your feet,
04:29 just going to go around.
04:30 Excellent.
04:31 There we go.
04:33 And that's my daughter over there, so.
04:35 She'll be looking.
04:38 Change the angle slightly so everybody can see.
04:42 Yeah.
04:43 This is it.
04:52 Just going to go around this way next,
05:01 I need a razor blade for the next bit.
05:03 Do something different.
05:12 Here it is.
05:13 It's final.
05:15 You okay down there?
05:22 I'm fine, yes.
05:23 Good.
05:24 Fine.
05:29 Wow.
05:39 Razor blade, there's no tear there, no rip there.
05:42 No.
05:43 It should feel really, you can't feel it.
05:45 The benefit of the light is on the other side.
05:50 Yes.
05:51 So you can see now we've gone from scissors to a razor blade.
05:56 Scary stuff.
06:00 Yes, don't let your hand slip.
06:02 I won't.
06:05 I won't.
06:06 I'm used to this, when I'm in front of an audience it's fine.
06:13 I've got to do another tour, of course, when I get back, yeah.
06:15 It's not.
06:16 Do you need a smile?
06:23 Right, so now over to the person.
06:27 Just going to spin around quick, that way, okay?
06:31 There we go.
06:32 There we go.
06:33 Okay.
06:36 This is where it will change a lot.
06:42 Oh my God!
06:45 Oh!
06:47 Okay.
06:51 It's great.
06:52 Just tell them when it's stopped.
06:59 Yeah, when it looks like...
07:01 You've seen me work before.
07:04 [Laughter]
07:05 How are you feeling down there, alright?
07:21 I'm fine, yes.
07:22 This is the important part now, we're just doing all the layering just to make it look a little bit more fuller.
07:30 That's why I emphasise the second knuckle is really important, you don't take anything off it.
07:34 Okay.
07:35 It's just really, really important.
07:37 Now just go back round the wedge, just move it.
07:44 You can sit, don't worry.
07:46 Okay, back round this way.
07:47 For the benefit of everybody over this side of the room, that's it.
07:52 There we go.
07:53 Keep it moving.
07:55 Here he is.
07:59 Just come over to have a look and see what wristwatch I'm wearing so I don't steal it.
08:03 It is pretty nice, eh?
08:05 I like it.
08:06 Well, there's a story that goes with it.
08:08 Yeah?
08:09 The money from... well, the money that I use to buy the watch with is from my grandma and grandad.
08:15 And the money I use to buy the belt that I've got on is from my nana and grandad.
08:19 Alright.
08:20 So I've got my family on stage with me while I'm working.
08:22 Awesome.
08:23 Do you like that?
08:24 Are they watching?
08:25 I am quite a sensitive little soul.
08:28 Aww.
08:29 Alright, so now through the top.
08:33 Do you want me to slide up for you, photographer?
08:37 I can tell you're enjoying this.
08:39 I'm not taking pictures I'm cutting hair for.
08:43 It's good.
08:44 Why don't we do something together?
08:46 Why don't you come down to Sansol, Tom, and just do some random shots?
08:50 Let's do it.
08:51 Let's do some random shots.
08:52 She'd enjoy it.
08:55 I'll do something like a real choppy shot, then.
08:57 Something where you can really see the scissors working.
09:00 I've got to use the scissors more in a minute, but I've got to do more with that.
09:05 And there's more, there's more. Come here, come here, there's more.
09:23 Where are they all going?
09:24 How dare they? They're all going.
09:26 They should stay.
09:28 Well, they should, but they don't want to.
09:30 I mean, it's not long to go now before we've finished.
09:33 Sorry.
09:34 I think they're probably going for coffee.
09:37 Turn you around this way slightly.
09:39 That's it. Beautiful.
09:40 I'll just show you how you do this.
09:49 You want to try this at home? It's dangerous.
09:52 No, I wouldn't dream of it.
09:54 Six months of practice, that is.
10:01 So, the last layer is coming up now.
10:12 And then we're going to go into the top and start to soften it up.
10:15 I shall have a sip of coffee.
10:17 I shall have a story to tell when I go back to my normal hairdresser, won't I?
10:22 She'll say, "Who's been doing this?"
10:25 It's not changed in any way, really. It's just the way it is.
10:28 Well, I should think she'll be impressed.
10:31 That's what you'll find.
10:32 Will you be able to tell her?
10:34 Yeah.
10:35 This is what I say.
10:36 So good.
10:38 Here's a rarity for you if you want to come and get this picture.
10:45 I'm going to cut backwards, which is rare.
10:47 You don't see many hairdressers cut backwards.
10:50 I'll do it for the purposes of...
10:51 Here it is.
10:58 So, I'll just add a bit more body.
11:09 What is it you're doing?
11:10 I'm just giving it a bit more body and shape in there.
11:12 Yeah, how? How are you doing it?
11:14 I'm just twisting the hair and cutting it out.
11:16 Okay.
11:17 Right. Here we go then, on the fringe. Last piece.
11:20 Coming up.
11:21 Okay.
11:22 Hi.
11:23 Hello.
11:24 What shape are those?
11:32 There you go. That's the one.
11:43 I still think it's really good.
11:44 There's enough shape.
11:45 All the bullies are discreetly doing the layers.
11:48 Yeah.
11:49 So, you'll see when you can mirror.
11:51 Here comes my younger brother.
11:54 It should be just nice and delicate, like it's not really been cut on the fringe.
12:02 Yeah.
12:04 Yeah.
12:05 Right. This is a nice bit for the cameraman.
12:19 Coming up now, we've got curved scissors in this.
12:21 So, I'll just put it on slowly.
12:23 Curved scissors on there.
12:25 Yeah.
12:27 That's quick.
12:32 It's going quicker.
12:33 No, it's fine. I'm liking...
12:36 Sounds like someone's got a hat.
12:40 Hannibal Lecter, he sounds like.
12:43 Sounds like a TENS machine.
12:46 That's what a TENS machine sounds like.
12:49 Doesn't it?
12:50 Doesn't it?
12:51 Okay, we're coming towards the end now.
12:56 Literally.
12:58 I'm just going to check the back just to make sure I'm happy with it.
13:02 And then, literally, I shall then dress it out and then we'll finish after that.
13:06 Just remove the weight out of the middle panel around his scissors.
13:10 It should be like a dance, just a choreography.
13:15 Like some dance.
13:18 [inaudible]
13:46 I'll just put this in for you.
13:47 So you can just have a bit of extra play with the camera.
13:50 It's only takes a minute.
13:56 It's more for show, really.
13:58 Okay, last piece.
14:00 Yeah.
14:01 There we go.
14:02 Good.
14:03 Wow.
14:07 This is the side you want to be with that panel.
14:14 [inaudible]
14:15 That's it.
14:23 That's it.
14:24 That's it.
14:26 Good.
14:27 Good.
14:28 [inaudible]
14:29 I'm going to dress you like that in a minute now.
14:46 Have you?
14:55 [inaudible]
14:56 Good.
15:03 Do you like it?
15:15 He's on it.
15:19 The camera man's on it.
15:20 Peter is on there.
15:22 He's getting in there.
15:23 He's playing with the camera a bit more.
15:25 It's all about play.
15:27 I'm taking more photos just now than I have during the whole event.
15:35 There you go.
15:36 Let's see if you can get the camera out this way.
15:38 No, get ready for this.
15:39 This is different.
15:40 This is going to be very different.
15:42 This one, your lights.
15:43 Make sure you've got it in the right place for the spray.
15:47 Right, here we go.
15:48 So, now, to give it more body.
15:51 [inaudible]
15:52 Now, this side.
15:54 Right, and then the camera.
15:59 Just pull it off.
16:01 A bit of something there.
16:12 Finish that with a shovel or...
16:15 [inaudible]
16:16 Right, a bit of shine just to finish it up.
16:25 Just to give it some body.
16:27 It's about a lot of body, but that'll give you that.
16:30 There you go.
16:31 [inaudible]
16:32 That's that done.
16:44 Again, more Muck lacquer just to finish off with.
16:47 And then the last product this evening,
16:59 we'll be using clothes that are watching from Muck.
17:02 Hairspray, hair shine.
17:04 Careful of the floor, Mr. Minister.
17:08 [inaudible]
17:09 Clap three times if you can hear me.
17:22 I can't believe we've done that in about 27 minutes.
17:27 It's a fairly quick guy this evening.
17:29 But I just wanted to say thank you very much for staying and watching.
17:32 I tend to just go into my own world.
17:34 With Jill's hair, in fact...
17:36 Stand up and give us a little walk around, Jill.
17:42 Oh my God.
17:43 Give us a little twirl so everybody can see it.
17:46 So with the back, the back has been cut in a square.
17:50 You've got a razor on the sides to give it a more softer effect onto the face.
17:55 We've then used a rounded layer.
17:57 The reason I've gone for a rounded layer is because it does one of two things.
18:00 Number one, it gives us the body on the hair when it's fine.
18:03 Number two, it gives us a heart shape through the back and sides,
18:06 which then really complements the cheekbones on Jill's face.
18:10 I've then also replicated that look with the fringe.
18:12 I've literally kept the length on the fringe in the front.
18:15 And then used the rounded scissors to again promote the lift into the front part.
18:20 So when your fringe grows out in six weeks, if you just have a couple of days...
