00:00Our expectations for Volatile were really high this year, just because of the quality
00:11of the book and the great physical that he was presenting.
00:14Lots of scope, plenty of leg, throwing back to some unbridled song, look fast, but they
00:20also look like they'll go further than six furlongs, and the market has shown that Volatile
00:27is really what people want.
00:31Volatile I think is one of the best looking stallions in Kentucky.
00:34When he retired, I went and saw him with my brother and we were just like, wow.
00:40We had to definitely breed mares to him.
00:43Just an absolutely brilliant racehorse, extremely athletic, just a very sexy horse.
00:49And then for his yearlings now to see them and how popular they are in the sales ring
00:56He's passing on his looks and we're excited to see the speed that he showed on the racetrack
01:03in his offspring.
01:04The July sale of Volatile was the leading freshman sire and we were really pleased because
01:10I thought there were a lot of nice athletes there.
01:13Then he went to Saratoga and had a $600,000 yearling that was a homebred of three chimneys.
01:19The Love and Pride filly was always kind of a farm favorite.
01:23I think Mr. Rutherford bought a wonderful filly that's going to go do something for
01:27him at the track, but he's then going to have her as a broodmare too.
01:31You know, I knew she was going to sell great.
01:33I didn't know that she was going to bring seven figures.
01:35I think it's a testament to the belief in Volatile that's out there in the market that
01:41she sold like a proven stallion's offspring would sell.
01:45And she was just physically lovely, very correct, very good mover, great mind.
01:52They have this quality.
01:53I've seen ones that are bigger, some that are medium size, but they all have this, you'd
01:58just say, this quality about them.
02:00I think he's reproducing himself, honestly, which is a very good thing because he's gorgeous.
02:05I think they're going to be running it too.
02:08I'm sure they'll go on and improve because they do have scope.
02:12Volatile was a brilliant racehorse.
02:15I think that's what all of us are looking for in a stallion and then in runners is brilliance
02:20and I think he's passing that on.
02:23Very rare for horses to show acceleration off of going fast, you know.
02:29I think a lot of horses are successful by slowing down minimally, but he was one of
02:35the rare horses that could actually accelerate after he was going quick enough.
02:39Paul Volatile, victorious in the Vanderbilt.
02:44Volatile's books have been consistently full, which is great, especially in the lower price
02:50points.
02:51Very hard to do.
02:52I've been very happy to see the quality of the mares.
02:55Lots of stakes winners, lots of stakes producing mares and it just shows you that the breeders
03:01have liked what they've seen and so they keep coming back for more.
03:06They're looking like they will, so God willing, next year they'll be running and he'll be
03:11a leading freshman sire.
