00:00Now, back to Stiney and Guru on 95.7 The Game.
00:05Alright, this is The Crossover, brought to you by Abundant Life Weight Loss.
00:08They know the secret to losing up to one pound of fat every single day.
00:12Go to AbundantLifeWeightLoss.com to learn more.
00:15Eddington's here for Matt Steinmetz, Daryl The Guru Johnson, Mark Willard, Dan Dibley.
00:19What's up, boys?
00:20Well, I'm getting a little bit, a little jealous over here, because Gu is starting to knock
00:24on my door with the weight loss.
00:26Oh, down 20.
00:27He's down 20.
00:28I lost 25.
00:29And, you know, I might have put one or two back on.
00:31And so, your boy, your boy's about to catch me and pass me.
00:35And so, I may have to, like, hunker down here and see if I can't slip off another five to
00:39ten just to stay ahead of you.
00:41Yeah, and while I'm hurt, Willard, this will be the only time I reference it.
00:44I had a speech, a victory speech, ready for knockout.
00:47And Abundant Life Weight Loss was going to get all the love in the world.
00:51And that's what hurt.
00:52I wasn't able to do it.
00:53But I'll do it now.
00:54They've been a life changer.
00:55But I'm fired up, and I'm not done.
00:57No, you look great.
00:58And I was actually up in the booth with Evan trying to do an hour, and I did eight minutes
01:02because you couldn't survive.
01:03But as I was watching you, and I think...
01:05There's some joke in there somewhere.
01:06I mean...
01:07No doubt about it.
01:08Willard knows it.
01:09Just chew it and do it.
01:10That's where the payout should be.
01:13If you two are only lasting eight minutes, you know, when you're looking for an hour...
01:17You can do better.
01:18Dude, seriously, you can last longer.
01:20But as you were walking up the stairs, I was watching you.
01:23You were dejected.
01:24And I was like, man, he's sad, but he's skinny.
01:28I appreciate it.
01:29No, Tracy Morgan.
01:30Yeah, no.
01:31Dude, no more.
01:32No more.
01:33I don't know if you saw SNL 50.
01:36I've been watching it in pieces.
01:38Like, before we go to bed, my wife will fall asleep.
01:40This whole season, right?
01:41Well, I thought it was just a one-time tribute.
01:43It was a one-off.
01:44Eddie Murphy was there.
01:45It was incredible.
01:46Eddie Murphy did Tracy Morgan, and he was incredible.
01:48He was Tracy Morgan.
01:49He was awesome.
01:50He was more Tracy Morgan than Tracy Morgan.
01:52How did he nail that?
01:53He was so good.
01:54They did the Black Jeopardy.
01:56Yes.
01:57Oh, God.
01:58Like, the way he was doing the diction and the mannerisms.
02:00And the whole thing.
02:01Dude, he nailed that one.
02:02That might be some of his best work, Will.
02:04It was pretty funny.
02:05And I actually put that on Twitter, and a bunch of people were like,
02:07oh, no, Guru's the real Tracy Morgan.
02:09And I was like, no, not anymore.
02:11Not the new Slim Guru.
02:12Please.
02:13Don't say that.
02:14I don't have a nose like that, Will.
02:15Yeah, anyhow.
02:16Yeah.
02:17Post-car crash.
02:18Anyhow.
02:19I'm still stuck on you.
02:20You had a victory speech for knockout.
02:22Oh, it was Randy.
02:23That's why you get knocked out.
02:25I'm trying to tell you this.
02:26I'm in it for the wrong reasons.
02:28I want your whole being next year to just be one phrase.
02:33You got it.
02:34One phrase for you next year.
02:35You got it.
02:36I don't care.
02:38Oh, no, no, no.
02:39Survive in advance.
02:40That's what's happening.
02:41Don't.
02:42Survive in advance.
02:43I'm too thirsty.
02:44You came in thirsty.
02:45I walked in.
02:46It's real, dude.
02:47I hadn't even gotten two steps in the arena yet,
02:49and Bonte's up in my face, and the lovely Christie's like,
02:52y'all playing for second place today.
02:55Little did he know I did get second place.
02:57I'm like, dog, why are you like chill?
03:00Just don't care.
03:03If you don't care, then you'll be there.
03:07That's going to be your phrase.
03:08Willard, we got a bone to pick with you.
03:09Oh, I do?
03:10Uh-oh.
03:11Oh, boy.
03:13Goo, if you want to do this, you can.
03:15No, I am.
03:16I'm going to do it for you.
03:17OK, all right.
03:18I have a feeling I know what this is about.
03:20He went to a certain restaurant yesterday.
03:22It was Taco Tuesday.
03:23Yeah.
03:24And it was two for five.
03:25They charged him full price,
03:26and the buddy he was at the restaurant with
03:28told him, go back up there and get it fixed.
03:30And he didn't do it, and I'm mad at him.
03:33What is that a bone to pick with me?
03:35What the hell do I got to do with that?
03:36I'm trying to ease it.
03:37Oh, OK.
03:38And now I'm coming to you.
03:39So wait.
03:40So wait.
03:41I want to make sure I get it straight.
03:42I'm lost right now.
03:43I get it straight.
03:44Please explain.
03:45You went to a restaurant.
03:46Yes, I did.
03:47That is two for Tuesday.
03:48You got tacos.
03:49You got overcharged.
03:50Yeah.
03:51And then you knew it,
03:52and you wouldn't go get it.
03:53How much did you get charged?
03:55Like, you know, one and a half times.
03:57Basically, I just didn't get the deal for Taco Tuesday.
04:00I got the gringo tax, is what my friend told me.
04:02OK, so instead of $5, you paid $1.
04:04No!
04:05Shout out to Mission.
04:06Like seven or eight bucks.
04:07He's in the Mission, no doubt.
04:08It's across the street.
04:09The point is, I like this establishment.
04:12I go there for tacos all the time.
04:14I know now.
04:16And I didn't really mind honestly giving them my money
04:18because they're a local place,
04:20and they make really good, oh my God,
04:22they make really good autobata.
04:23Fairly tough.
04:24But you got to speak up for yourself.
04:25No.
04:26I don't know.
04:27I thought that's what I represent in your life.
04:28Well, but you know me.
04:29I mean, I'm a little more soft-spoken.
04:31Plus, again, I was catching W's on the chess board,
04:33so I wasn't really worried about what my friend was telling me.
04:35That's a personal choice.
04:37For two or three bucks.
04:39So on top of that.
04:40He didn't want to stretch out his legs for two or three bucks.
04:43Now you're going to get mad at me because he came on my Zoom last night,
04:46and you didn't?
04:47Is that what you're going to do?
04:48No, no, no.
04:50I'm not mad.
04:51I'm shy.
04:52I was like, what?
04:53He goes, he had to refer to you as professor,
04:56and I get that with the kids.
04:58But as you had to make him do that,
05:00okay, that's one.
05:01That's nothing.
05:02But then I go, what kind of gift card?
05:05Because I know you.
05:06Father named Tom.
05:08I'm like, what kind of gift card did he give you?
05:11You know, for doing the appearance.
05:13He didn't give me a damn chance.
05:15Now you ruined it.
05:17So it's 152 the next day.
05:19But I'm right, though.
05:20I knew he was going to compensate you.
05:22That's the Wheeler I know.
05:24That would be right.
05:25The compensation sensation.
05:27Maybe I wasn't.
05:30That's all he's going to get.
05:31Maybe I wasn't, but either way, you ruined it.
05:34Okay, my bad.
05:35You ruined it.
05:36But he shocked me.
05:37I know what a Wheeler gets you.
05:38I already owe him a beer.
05:39Maybe I get him two.
05:41Let me just ask this for the listener.
05:43I'm a cheap date.
05:44How long were you on the Zoom?
05:46Like what?
05:47A half hour?
05:48Yeah.
05:49No, because if it's like a 12 minute, whatever, because all of us do like, hey, this is Jimmy
05:55in Pittsburgh.
05:56Can you come?
05:57Of course, I'll come on your show.
05:5812 minutes.
05:59And, you know, maybe we'll call you Filippone and we'll have you do 12 minutes back.
06:03It's the same idea, though.
06:05It's a commitment.
06:06Yeah.
06:07And in this case, 30 minutes is kind of about the breaking point where if it's more than
06:1330, I'm looking for a $20 gift card.
06:16You know what I mean?
06:17I mean, when Steve Kerr joins us, he can tell when we get to 25 minutes now.
06:21Okay.
06:22He can tell.
06:23His answers are like, yep.
06:24He's like, how are you guys playing?
06:26Well, we're playing well.
06:28What happens is he opens the sliding glass door and he lets the dogs in.
06:31And so the dogs start, guys, I mean, I got to control these animals.
06:35You got them today?
06:36Yeah.
06:37Oh, he's going to be in a great mood.
06:38You might have time today.
06:39Yeah.
06:40Well, I'm very, very thankful to you, Adam.
06:42Yeah.
06:43And I will take care of you and Evan and Whitley.
06:46Right.
06:47I was about to bring a Whitley.
06:48They did a great job.
06:49By the way, if I start paying for everybody who speaks to my class, I'm going to be paying
06:55for this class more than they pay me.
06:57But anyway.
06:58No, I don't think Goo was mad that you didn't ask him, but, you know, it's like.
07:01I just assumed that's my guy Willard.
07:03Well, I didn't say yes expecting him to pay me, though.
07:07You know, you're talking to college students, and I was explaining to him before.
07:10It's like I didn't get a chance to be a journalism major, have a chance to talk to any media
07:15members.
07:16Not that I consider myself a high one, but it's like he gives these kids a lot of opportunities
07:20that I didn't have.
07:21And I just think it's pretty damn cool.
07:23Plus, they're also coming to Chase Center.
07:24And so we get to meet him actually in person.
07:26Well, I was that's that was actually kind of the point.
07:28Like, I wanted some people who are over at Chase Center on a night in and night out basis
07:32to kind of help show them the ropes or give them some guidance.
07:37Now, that one might cost you.
07:38Yeah.
07:40I'm not having to look me in the eye.
07:44I'm not having to do any tours of Chase Center, because by the way, I don't even think any
07:48of us are qualified yet.
07:49I would probably run them into a janitorial closet and we'd all get locked in.
07:53But anyway, my point is, is that's why they came on is because this class is coming to
07:58the game on Saturday.
07:59Love it.
08:00Evan and Whitley know how to go about covering a game over at Chase and what they look for
08:04and what they do and all that.
08:05So, yeah, the Warriors deserve a big old thank you.
08:08You do this yearly.
08:09That's why I love to do this every year.
08:10I think last year, if I'm going to get out to the Spurs, I thought, well, last year got
08:14canceled last minute, but I think it was I think it might have been the Spurs.
08:18Okay.
08:19Before that.
08:20I've got you.
08:21Whatever it was.
08:22And then in the spring, we'll do it.
08:23We'll do it for the Giants.
08:24All right.
08:25Which is nice.
08:26Why more people sign up for fall than spring.
08:27Can I share with you what I'm talking about?
08:29Like tour of Chase Center, because after the knockout, I'm going out to grab a little bite
08:33before we do our show.
08:35And it's me, Shasky, Lubman.
08:37And I think Lucas was also with us.
08:39No, maybe not.
08:40It was somebody else.
08:41Spadoni.
08:43It was Spadoni.
08:44And, you know, we're running material.
08:45And, you know, we go up an escalator.
08:46We turn right.
08:47We go down some stairs.
08:48We go through two corridors.
08:49And finally, Shasky's like, excuse me, excuse me.
08:52Can you help us get out of here?
08:54How do we get to the garage?
08:55How do we get to Thrive City?
08:56I swear to God.
08:57It was a whole thing.
08:58And it was reminding me of me and you and me and whoever else I've ever been with in
09:03that building.
09:04If you are in the bowels down low, you can't get out.
09:08Dibs and I ended up like on a stairwell to the roof with like nothing but locked doors
09:16behind us.
09:17No, I got it.
09:18I'm like, I don't even know why this place exists.
09:21Why am I on this staircase?
09:23It was like the Winchester Mystery House.
09:25I'm like, this staircase goes to a wall and the door locks behind you.
09:29I don't even remember how we got out of there.
09:32There's all these random corridors.
09:34We bumped into Bonte.
09:36Excuse me, Mr. Hill.
09:37Can you help us?
09:39And he's like, oh yeah, here's Bruno the Usher.
09:41Hey, Jim, what's going on?
09:43Bonte the OG.
09:45And he got us out of there.
09:46That's right.
09:47He did.
09:48He did.
09:49Yeah.
09:50And Knockout, it was kind of a similar vibe.
09:51So you're talking about having Evan give guided tours.
09:54Lots of luck, kids, because you never know.
09:56I'm pretty familiar with the place now.
09:58It's not quite Pan's Labyrinth.
10:00After a season, you get into, all right, where am I based on the seating charts
10:04and the first and top floors?
10:06But it took a while, because there is legitimately a lot of random quarters
10:10that take you to the same place.
10:12It's just a different way to get there.
10:14Oh my goodness.
10:15So until actual chase people have taken me to each of the different spots,
10:20I would have had no clue where I'm going.
10:22Over or under covering 12 and a half games before you can get to the media
10:25workroom with confidence.
10:28Depending on who you are, the over.
10:30Yeah.
10:31That's the correct answer.
10:32It's the same.
10:33It's a big place, man.
10:34I'm so thrilled that I can find it now.
10:35I still get happy when I get in there every time.
10:38It's the same.
10:39Anyway, thank you.
10:40Unlike the Warriors.
10:41Yeah.
10:43Thank you for last night.
10:44Of course.
10:45That was fun.
10:46You guys were awesome.
10:47And speaking of which, last night, Steph Curry.
10:48And I told Evan this.
10:49I've been trying to hammer the point home.
10:50I've been missing the point, missing the nail.
10:52If there were no score box and you didn't know what was going on,
10:55but your only gauge was Steph and his mannerisms and that smile.
11:00Are we all shocked at his back so fast?
11:04Because to me, if you tell me they're going to the finals, I'm in the line.
11:08Like, I'm watching him.
11:10He is really the true metric of I used to get triple and blitzed.
11:15All this room I had.
11:17He's in a good spot and so are they.
11:19That's all I'm going to.
11:20And he put on another show.
11:21It feels like Barcelona again.
11:22Every game is the Orlando game.
11:24They needed every three, but I'm looking at Steph like Michael Jackson is back.
11:30Well, he's not carrying the same weight anymore.
11:32He doesn't have to carry the same weight.
11:34And if you look at his line scores, his box scores before the Jimmy Butler trade,
11:38when he shot 31 times, 35 times, he felt like that he had to do everything.
11:44He didn't have help.
11:45And, you know, Camingo was out, your primary second scorer.
11:48And Wiggins was, you know, being Wiggins, which is floating.
11:51Yeah, kind of floating a little bit of that weak side vibe.
11:54And beyond that, you had no real scoring help.
11:56And Pods is trying to get healthy and all the rest of it.
11:58And now you get Jimmy Butler, a legitimate give me the ball
12:02and I'm going to do some things kind of a player.
12:05And I think about the big dagger moment last night where it's a loose ball
12:09and Draymond gets it and he whips it to Jimmy at two feet.
12:12And Jimmy doesn't even think about trying to score.
12:15He gets it and he goes right out to Steph.
12:18And Steph's got nobody within 15 feet.
12:20And he just catches it.
12:22And Steph takes his time and he rises up and he hits the dagger.
12:25And those moments of, you know, knowing what you need to do
12:29and knowing how to play basketball, I think,
12:31has taken a lot of the burden off of Steph Curry.
12:33I think those plays to me are the sign that there is something special here
12:37because the only time that the Warriors play with,
12:39and some people call it chaos.
12:41I've seen, like, some football managers call it organized spontaneity.
12:45Like, when you're playing with control in an uncontrollable possession,
12:51you know that you're cooking with something.
12:53And the fact that the ball was exactly where it needed to be
12:56off of a broken play.
12:58I mean, Draymond grabs the ball loose and then ends up with Jimmy
13:01right out to Curry.
13:02When the Warriors are at their best,
13:04those are the possessions that seemingly tend to happen for them.
13:07And the ball ends up in the right person's hands at the right time.
13:10Like, that's why, yeah, it was the dagger of the game,
13:13but it felt like it was going to culminate in some moment like that.
13:17And those kinds of, I don't know, just unpredictable finishes,
13:21they've been more frequent than ever this season.
13:24I would say the last two and a half seasons.
13:26We don't really see those kind of chaotic possessions
13:28end up benefiting the Warriors.
13:31And that's why, to Guru's point, I would be sipping the Jimmy juice.
13:35You want to do the thing, Bob, and then we can keep on going?
13:38Thank you, Professor.
13:40You're listening to 95.7 The Game, KGMZ FM, NHG1 San Francisco,
13:45always live on the free Odyssey app,
13:46Twitch and YouTube powered by First World Cal Credit Union.
13:48This is just some crazy cockroach stuff that's going on, man.
13:51I am so excited by the fact that, like, I don't know where it's going.
13:59I don't know what, like, it looks like they're going to make the playoffs.
14:02I don't know if it's going to round two or whatever.
14:05And I don't even want to get into that yet.
14:07I don't want to get into where is it going to end up because, to me,
14:11that's jumping past all of the fun stuff.
14:14Like, one thing that we can definitively say already, without getting into
14:19where did it all end up, meaningful basketball is back.
14:23We're here.
14:25And meaningful basketball is here.
14:27And many, if not most of us, clearly thought at the beginning of this year
14:33that that idea was ridiculous.
14:35That idea was absurd.
14:37The actual meaningful basketball that matters in May,
14:42and even potentially June, is back.
14:45And that's why I call it cockroach stuff.
14:47This is the second time that the Warriors have found a way to rebirth themselves
14:53after they're supposed to be long dead.
14:56And so that, to me, what an incredible gift.
15:01I just called it that before you guys came in.
15:03Absolutely.
15:04To anybody who follows Warrior basketball, I don't know where this is going,
15:09but the fact that this is happening right now is just an incredible gift.
15:14Because it's absurd.
15:16There's no way it should be going like this.
15:18The answer's in the building.
15:19How about that?
15:20The answer's now in the building.
15:21Now we know what building he was in.
15:23He was in Florida.
15:24That's amazing.
15:25He was in Florida.
15:27Just hanging out, waiting for somebody to come get him.
15:31It can't be.
15:32I can't wait.
15:33Steve Kerr's going to be on in 28 minutes.
15:35I cannot wait to dive deeper into.
15:38I know what the surface answers have been about Jimmy.
15:42He's a connector.
15:43He's a perfect fit and all this.
15:45I don't care how perfect you are.
15:47It's not supposed to be this easy.
15:49Can you ask him about this?
15:50We had Brandon Pajemski on earlier,
15:52and I thought that there was a goal set by Coach Kerr earlier.
15:56I just threw it at pods, and apparently there's a new goal.
15:59Yeah, I think the sixth seed was the bare minimum of expectation.
16:02The staff, from us, have to create that line.
16:05Obviously, we're here now.
16:06We're like three games behind the Rockets for the five spot.
16:09The three seed, I think, is only four and a half or five away.
16:12We've got the whole month of March and a little bit of April left.
16:15It does have.
16:16We've got an easy strength schedule in the Western Conference left.
16:19The teams above us have got to play each other a couple of times,
16:22so someone's going to lose.
16:24Thankfully, Houston, we have the tiebreaker with them.
16:28I think we maybe have Memphis tiebreaker.
16:30I'm not sure.
16:31We're just trying to get as high as we can.
16:33The higher we can get, the more home games we can get in the playoffs.
16:35That's the goal.
16:36He jumped from the five to the three.
16:38Yeah.
16:39Well, the three feels a little far-fetched to me still,
16:44but the four doesn't.
16:46Memphis, Jaron Jackson's out, and they've lost three in a row,
16:50and Houston's been wobbly for a little while now.
16:52They lost again last night.
16:55And how about the Clippers gagging in Phoenix?
16:58I mean, there's just a lot of things.
17:00They got a game tonight too?
17:01Yeah.
17:02There's a lot of things twisting their way, but I just, again,
17:06I caution against jumping two, three weeks down the road
17:11because the Warriors have their own journey to go through here,
17:14and we're watching what happens to other teams.
17:17All of a sudden, Jaron Jackson's out.
17:19All of a sudden, Kyrie Irving tears an ACL.
17:21But we've got one guy we're about to add.
17:23That's how it feels tonight.
17:25What happens tomorrow night?
17:27You don't know.
17:28That's the way my brain works in moments like this.
17:31This is so fun and so unexpected.
17:33I want to enjoy it for each game that it brings
17:37and not assume that it's going to look like this, that,
17:39or the other three weeks from now because you just don't know.
17:42But, man, it's trending in an awesome way.
17:44And Steph is averaging 29 a game since Jimmy joined the team,
17:47and that includes a game against Charlotte where he played only 23 1⁄2 minutes
17:52because it was such a blowout.
17:54And then the next time against Charlotte, he only played 30.
17:56So those numbers would be even more elevated
17:59had you had to have Steph Curry play a bunch of minutes.
18:02But the one thing, forget the seed and whatever it's going to be down the road,
18:06the one thing that makes me a little bit excited is that you might get to a spot
18:10and have two or three games at the end of the year where you can just rest guys.
18:14And you might be locked into the five.
18:16You might be locked into the six.
18:18And even if you are fighting for the four,
18:20you may not even care about fighting for the four.
18:22If you're the five and you have to be on the road against the four,
18:26I don't think this team's really going to matter.
18:28But get to a spot where you can rest some guys
18:30and you can really get yourself ready because we think about 2022
18:34and why did they win the title.
18:36I do think a big part of it was the fact that Steph Curry sat out the last month
18:41or maybe a little bit more.
18:43He was fresh, and you were able to get everybody sharp and ready.
18:47What's he laughing at?
18:48I just got a text from Stiney.
18:51What did he say?
18:53Share with us.
18:55I can't.
18:56This team is doing something ridiculous to this radio station.
18:59So much to the point where Matt Steinmetz just texted me.
19:03Is he leaving his vacation early?
19:05May have to get on the Warriors bandwagon when I get back.
19:09Yeah. Yay!
19:11That's not the Matt Steinmetz that left for Mexico.
19:13I told you he was like way excited for him before he left,
19:16but it's full now and there's room for him.
19:19But how can you not?
19:20This is incredible.
19:21That also means he's not shooting really well.
19:23Oh, whoa.
19:24If he's thinking about us at 5.06 in South Carolina,
19:30dude, he should be.
19:32He's in Cancun.
19:34He's in Cancun right now.
19:36Whatever.
19:37Even worse.
19:38Even worse.
19:39If he's thinking of us when he's in Cancun,
19:41I'd argue he's not doing it right.
19:43I would just say this, and I hope he is listening.
19:46There's no room for you.
19:48You're not welcome.
19:49Wow.
19:50You don't get to get on the wagon.
19:54Your chance to get on the wagon was a long time ago.
19:58Get off my wagon.
20:00This guy is such a D.
20:01It's a fact.
20:02There's always room on their wagon, dude.
20:04Not for him.
20:05Why not?
20:06Not for that guy.
20:07Not for that guy.
20:08The guy who spent eight years of his career saying that Steph Curry wasn't a real point guard.
20:12He said it was the greatest phrase of a franchise in the history of sports.
20:14Did that get you autographed?
20:15It was wrong.
20:16Great.
20:17Great.
20:18And the guy who picked Dallas in six, famously?
20:20I was there.
20:21He did that for a fact.
20:23Whatever he did, he did it.
20:25He did that thing.
20:26I'm just wondering who's going to be the villain of the station now.
20:29If Stiney's on the wagon, it's him.
20:32No doubt.
20:33It's him.
20:34Because when they go out and they lose three of five, he's going to be the first one.
20:38Well, guys, I mean, we all were a little premature trying to anoint this group.
20:42They're too old.
20:44Yeah, I came in one day.
20:46Morale was so low for me with this team.
20:49I think it was the Utah loss, the game before we found out Butler was going to be a Warrior.
20:55And I swear, he looked at me like, if Tom Sum over there has no energy, is despondent about this team, it's bad.
21:05And it kind of shook him.
21:07I was waving the flag.
21:09And now I'm ready for the parade.
21:12I watched a lot of hoop in my life.
21:16Like, OKC, I know you don't like this, but Willard, I think it's fun when you're feeling good about your team's chances.
21:22Like, that's why I was talking about pedigree and experience.
21:26And Jimmy Butler has that.
21:27No bling yet, but he knows what it takes.
21:30So bring on OKC.
21:32They can lose.
21:33We've never seen you go on these wild swings before.
21:36The Giants have let me down two years in a row.
21:39The math still works.
21:40When you asked him not to care, it's like, what kind of question is that?
21:43I'm trying to find a new way to describe Steph.
21:48Because I think we're sort of running up against something that doesn't compute.
21:54And I'm thinking about what Shaq said last night.
21:57He meant it.
21:58Yeah.
21:59He's like, look, we've got to start putting this man has-to-be-in-the-conversation when you start bringing up the biggest names ever.
22:06When you start bringing up Jordan and LeBron and Kobe, like, Steph deserves to be there.
22:11He's got four rings.
22:12Right.
22:13But, you know, this station and maybe even this show, right, you guys have talked about the greatest face of an organization ever.
22:21That's one way to, like, OK, we've got that.
22:24He's not the greatest player of all time, period.
22:27We're not going to do that, I don't think.
22:29He might be the greatest fan experience of all time, though.
22:33Wow.
22:34Like, I'm trying to figure out where does he fit in this conversation, which is all Shaq was asking for, by the way.
22:41He said, let's have the discussion.
22:43Let's have the discussion.
22:44There is absolutely, to me, and this is coming from somebody now who, right, I was at that starry-eyed age during Jordan.
22:53I'm like early teens, you know, be like Mike, all of that stuff.
22:59And granted, he wasn't a warrior and Steph is, so maybe that affects this.
23:03But I just don't, I don't know that there's ever been an experience like this before for fans with an athlete.
23:11I don't know what it compares to.
23:13Their greatest comp is the antithesis of the excitement that Steph brings.
23:18But this player was equally efficient, and he probably, during his time, was as good, if not better, than Steph Curry.
23:26It's Tim Duncan.
23:27And he wasn't eye-poppingly exciting, but just looking at his numbers, he was top five in the MVP, nine of his first ten years, and he won four titles.
23:36And he was a three-time finals MVP.
23:38He was boring, though.
23:39He was boring.
23:40I love him.
23:41That, to me, is the antithesis, which means the opposite of what Steph brings.
23:46But when you think about being a Spurs fan, when he got the ball on the left block at 14 feet, it was a bucket.
23:53He would do his dribble, dribble, nod, nod, turn, bank, and he would score.
23:58They didn't lose.
23:59He was amazing.
24:00But he wasn't this, but in terms of, like, a guy who played his whole career with one team, and he won five rings.
24:08Steph has four.
24:09And he was a finals MVP three times.
24:11It's kind of an interesting comp to me because Steph is so much more exciting.
24:16Steph is maybe the second or third most exciting player ever.
24:20You could talk about Jordan and the highlight dunks and the game-winning shots and LeBron and his physicality.
24:26And beyond that, who's more exciting than this?
24:29He's one of one.
24:31And exciting is clearly a word, but to me, even deeper.
24:35I don't know that there's ever been a more infectious player that I've ever watched play sports.
24:40Let's go NFL.
24:42Let's go MLB.
24:43LeBron, definitely not.
24:46You know?
24:47Barry Sanders.
24:48I just don't.
24:49Super infectious.
24:50Yes, but Barry Sanders, he didn't have that.
24:54He didn't have that.
24:56He was so quiet.
24:57He didn't have that vibe.
24:58There was no showmanship.
24:59It was hand the ball to the ref.
25:01But when he got the ball, when Barry Sanders got the ball, what he did, nobody else has ever done before.
25:06Even in team sports.
25:09Patrick Mahomes is not beloved in other cities.
25:12If Patrick Mahomes is here, half the crowd is not rooting for Patrick because they're literally looking at each other.
25:21But I've said he's played the quarterback like Steph.
25:24But he doesn't have that connection with the fans to where when you're watching him, you're in the moment literally thinking to yourself,
25:33I can't believe that we get to see this.
25:35How about Magic?
25:37Very infectious.
25:38Very, very infectious.
25:40And he played point guard like no one we've ever seen before.
25:43With the no look and the ball handling at 6'8".
25:46And the way he did it, absolutely infectious.
25:49That's a good name.
25:50That's a good name.
25:51But again, I go even like Magic was very, very infectious.
25:55Had a big personality.
25:57And then also the 48 minutes of the game.
26:00Steph will make people show up two and a half hours before 10.
26:04That's incredible, man.
26:05And lose their mind.
26:06I just don't know.
26:07I don't know if there's somebody who matches him.
26:10I think it's hard to compare generations.
26:12Yep, that's true too.
26:13But of this one, I'm right there with you.
26:16You guys have Steve Kerr coming up at 2.30.
26:172.30?
26:182.30, Steve Kerr, head coach of the Golden State Warriors.
26:2016 minutes.
26:21Right, keep it locked right here.
26:22Thanks, we'll talk to you tomorrow on 95.7 The Game.
