00:00Good morning everyone, it's Steph at the Doncaster Free Press and it's Thursday November
00:05the 28th. Just bringing you some of our top headlines this morning in Doncaster. I put
00:10out a story yesterday, there's been a call for people to come forward if they could give
00:18a hen a home for Christmas. Thousands of hens are running the risk of being sent to slaughter
00:23if homes aren't found for them in time for Christmas. The charity, the British Hen Welfare
00:29Trust is urgently appealing for members of the public who may have some space in their
00:34back garden so ex-commercial hens can avoid the alternate fate which doesn't bear thinking
00:44about. There's lots and lots of places where these hens will become available including
00:50just down the road in Rotherham so you can read all about that today and find out if
00:54you can help how you get involved in that. So that's hopefully going to be a nice end
01:01to that story there. Then yesterday a lot of you got in touch with us. There was several
01:10properties across parts of Doncaster that were without water in the afternoon. There
01:17was a massive water cut. Homes in Wheatley, Clay Lane, Kirkstandle, Barnby done. A number
01:25of many properties were affected by that water cut which was apparently caused by an electric
01:30fault at a pumping station and it was being dealt with by Yorkshire Water late into yesterday
01:36afternoon. And then finally we've got a really really nice piece about a lady you might have
01:44seen on television. It's an interior designer who appeared on the Alan Carr programme, Interior
01:49Design Masters. The lady's called Siobhan Murphy and she's been appointed by the City
01:54of Doncaster Council to head the redesign of the children's library at Mexborough.
02:04She's going to be working with local school children for that project so that's quite
02:07exciting and it'll be interesting to see what happens at the site there. So for that story,
02:13for anything else that's happening in Doncaster today just visit the website www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk
