00:00Good morning, it's Steph at the Doncaster Free Press and it's Wednesday October the 16th.
00:05Just bringing you some of our headlines this morning.
00:07First up we have a story with regards to Doncaster Council.
00:11There has been a significant increase in those living in temporary accommodation in England.
00:17As a whole, the City of Doncaster Council has had to pay out millions to house people.
00:23The number of people living in temporary accommodation in the city is estimated to be around 1,300 households.
00:30Which is costing the council around £4 million a year.
00:35We've got all the facts and figures in that story today and also a response from the council so you can read all about that.
00:44Then we've got a good initiative that pubs around Yorkshire and the Humber are starting up.
00:51A Doncaster pub is among 27 in the region that's collecting advent calendars for communities in need.
01:00The pubs which are all part of Proper Pubs, which is the award winning community,
01:06wetland operated division of Admiral Taverns, are asking customers to drop off advent calendars to pubs
01:15up until the 24th of November which will then be donated to local charities.
01:21One of those taking part is the Old Bulls Head in St Sepulchre Gate.
01:25So whether you're a regular or not, if you can drop an advent calendar off there,
01:30you'll be putting a smile on a child's face that maybe not have had the chance to get an advent calendar this year.
01:38And then finally, great news for one of our restaurants.
01:43Shimla, the Indian restaurant in Doncaster, is celebrating after being named the best restaurant at a national awards ceremony.
01:54The eatery was a winner in the best restaurant category at this year's Curry Life Awards,
01:59which is staged by Britain's renowned curry magazine, Curry Life,
02:04and was announced at a glittering event earlier this month at the London Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square in Mayfair.
02:12There's a couple of pictures there, some details from the organisers and from the restaurant themselves about achieving that award.
02:20So well done to them.
02:22So for those three stories and for anything else that's happening in Doncaster today,
