00:00It is caught! Touchdown!
00:04The New England Patriots select Drake May.
00:08He's got the ball! And that's the ball game!
00:12A lot of close games in Week 11. We're back here with the
00:16All-32 pod, Mike Giardi, alongside Will Parkinson. As always,
00:20exciting week, right? I mean, obviously it didn't necessarily go well
00:24where you were yesterday or where I was yesterday for those teams,
00:28but in general, a lot of close games. Yeah, really good.
00:32We had a couple really awesome matchups, obviously starting Thursday night.
00:36Some really awesome matchups yesterday. A bunch of playoff teams playing playoff teams.
00:40One of those weeks where, who knows what
00:44it'll mean in six, eight weeks' time,
00:48but if you're a Steelers fan today, if you're a Bills fan, and if you're
00:52an Eagles fan throughout the last couple days, you won games
00:56that may have clinched you to have a home playoff game, may have gotten you closer
01:00to a one-seed. So yeah, definitely some really interesting things, and then
01:04obviously some other really exciting games yesterday as well. Yeah, for sure. A reminder
01:08to you, this show brought to you by PrizePix, the exclusive daily fantasy partner of CLNS,
01:12Network Media Network, and GameTime. Best tickets, best prices to get you in
01:16to any event you want to see, anywhere. We use them, we love them. Let's dive
01:20right into it. We're going to put our teams a little bit further, the teams we cover a little bit further
01:24in the background of today's show, because you've got to start with the Bills
01:28knocking off the last remaining unbeaten team in the National Football League,
01:32the Kansas City Chiefs. This has been a great rivalry. The Bills have now
01:36won four straight in the regular season over the Chiefs. Unfortunately
01:40for them, they've lost the last three times they've played in the playoffs and have been knocked out of the postseason
01:44by the Chiefs, but the Bills win 30-21. They're 9-2, Chiefs now
01:489-1, so before you even get into the game, big picture
01:52wise, all of a sudden now, that number one seed and the idea that
01:56maybe instead of having to go through KC, maybe if KC slips up once or twice
02:00more, that maybe you're going through Buffalo. We know how difficult a place that is
02:04in the environment. It would be pretty amazing, when you think about it, if it
02:08ended up an AFC Championship game in Buffalo. Yeah, a couple of things
02:12when it comes to that. That was my first thought as well, like
02:16hey, Kansas City probably doesn't go undefeated the rest
02:20of the year, and Buffalo, the way they're playing right now, maybe they could
02:24run the table and get the one seed. I also looked
02:28at the Niners, who are going to be desperate for a win
02:32upcoming. They have the Rams after that, and then the Lions.
02:36If the Bills somehow manage to get through those three, and if they do, that's awesome.
02:40They'll probably be favored in two of the three. The Lions game probably scares you the most, but
02:44the Rams are obviously no joke. Obviously, there's no bigger fan of the Rams
02:48than me on this pod. I just look at the Niners and say, hey,
02:52is this the make or break game for their season? Whatever, but the Bills
02:56can do that. They finished with, I think, Patriots, Jets, and they finished Patriots
03:00again. You would assume they probably win all three of those.
03:04Either way, I think if you're the Bills,
03:08they are now in position. Baltimore has dropped two, obviously
03:12recently, and that was a team that you felt like, obviously,
03:16they smoked the Bills, right? But also, not for nothing,
03:20that was a team that they had to start losing games because I think the Bills did not want
03:24to have to go back into Baltimore. The Steelers are obviously a team to watch. I don't think the Steelers
03:28are going undefeated the rest of the year. If they can at least be the two seed,
03:32they give themselves a shot to at least have, again, two playoff games at home.
03:36We know how Buffalo is at home during the playoffs, except for that one
03:40borough year they've done really well. Big win for them. I don't want to
03:44put too much stock in this game, only from the aspect of, we've talked about
03:48on Friday or Thursday's pod, they don't, they beat Kansas City
03:52every year in the regular season. But I felt like this one
03:56was needed because it was at home. It felt like they always were just playing in Kansas City
04:00every year. I think, if I'm not mistaken, all three of those games were in Kansas City.
04:04After last year in the playoffs, kind of had to re-game.
04:08Hey, if they come back here, we feel confident we can beat them.
04:12And also, the Chiefs just,
04:16a lot of the issues I felt like we saw, frankly all year,
04:20they'll get healthier, they'll get Pacheco back,
04:24they'll get some of these other guys back, McBolden, etc.
04:28I'm not saying they're not a good team. The Chiefs are really, really,
04:32really good. I just, I've said this and I will continue
04:36to say this, the way Detroit looks versus the rest of the league right now, and maybe it'll
04:40even out, and maybe Detroit will get bounced in the second round, and
04:44the Chiefs will win like they did last year. But the Chiefs have kind of been like this team
04:48where they figured out how to win week over week, and that's really impressive. They have the best player
04:52in the sport, and probably the best coach, and they have the best defensive coordinator.
04:56They have a lot of the, they are awesome. But,
05:00Travis Kelce, he's not going to be an every week guy now. And again, maybe that changed in the playoffs.
05:04DeHop, I don't think he's really an every week guy anymore. He's a guy in spurts.
05:08It's been some right stuff, but the tackles are bad in Kansas City.
05:12They just are. This defense is really good, but any defense
05:16in 2024 can be got in shoulder checking Josh
05:20Allen while he's running full speed. It's a horrible way to try to tackle him.
05:24I guess the overall point being, to me, this almost said more
05:28about Kansas City. It was like, hey, we've had a lot of questions,
05:32and you almost lose by double digits. Mahomes has
05:36the, at the end it doesn't matter, it's the interception, but he's running for his
05:40life, and it's like, kind of gave you a little that 2020
05:44vibe where it's like, they're really good, but these tackles are a problem.
05:48They're a huge problem since week one, and so credit to Buffalo.
05:52With Kansas City, I leave that game like, are you going to,
05:56are you really the best team in the AFC? I'm not 100%
06:00sure, and that's a far fetch, I guess, from maybe 24 hours ago.
06:04So you know this well, obviously, with the Jets being in the
06:08division. Sean McDermott, who's handed over the defensive reins to Bobby Babich
06:12this year, before it was obviously Leslie Frazier, but Sean is very involved
06:16regardless, and Sean likes to play his own. They play a lot of his own.
06:20They played a lot more man yesterday, and to
06:24me, it signaled, they looked at the Chiefs and said,
06:28you don't have anybody that can beat us, and yeah, Worthy had a couple plays,
06:32but they'll take their chances with the rookie who's still trying to figure it out.
06:36Didn't know what the sideline was. It screwed up a play. Would have been a big play.
06:40And get physical with him because he weighs 170 pounds
06:44Canadian, right? But so they played more man because they look at
06:48guys like Hopkins and now Kelsey. Two catches, eight yards
06:52in the game, by the way, and Kelsey has eaten against them the last seven times.
06:56I think the lowest yardage goal was...
07:00Yeah, good on you. He's right. Okay, we beat you in the bowl season.
07:04Didn't make it not annoying. Right, right. Obnoxious, and they'll remember that,
07:08which whatever. At least they're great. If they get to see each other again, that just adds a little bit
07:12more fuel to the fire, and we love that. But clearly
07:16they looked at them and said, even though we're not the best
07:20at corner, they don't have Trey White in his prime. Christian Benford's
07:24a nice player. Teron obviously is a good nickel
07:28corner. One of the better ones in the league. Doesn't come off the field because he loves the nickel.
07:32He plays the nickel a ton. That I was just
07:36struck, I guess, by how McDermott, after all these meetings
07:40looked at this and said, dude, we can man them up.
07:44We can do this, and we haven't been able to do this against them. Maybe in the beginning
07:48of this run when they had, as I mentioned, Trey White, when you had
07:52Hyde, when you had Poirier, when all those guys playing at their highest
07:56level. Now you're rolling out guys like Benford,
08:00young safeties. You don't have the same type of
08:04talent, at least not yet. Maybe those guys grow into it, but yet
08:08you're saying, you don't have Rasheed Rice. He's not out there.
08:12Hopkins is, as you mentioned, older. Kelsey's older. We'll take our chances with this
08:16and we feel like we're going to have success, and they did.
08:20The other thing I would say about this is, and they got
08:24a little cold in the second half, but then Josh did to them
08:28on key situations what Patrick has been doing to them
08:32in those big moments, and obviously the 26-yard run where he goes Superman on it.
08:36It's so funny when you go into these games, too, sort of the mindset
08:40with the quarterbacks in particular. Josh likes to run,
08:44but they've tried to curb the running and design stuff.
08:48Whatever, you're playing the Cardinals in week one. Hey, dude, we're not
08:52calling any quarterback powers. We're not doing that kind of stuff. But when they play the Chiefs,
08:56it's like, nope, it's all open. You got to run 10, 12 times. You run
09:0010, 12 times, and obviously he runs in the biggest moment there
09:04and makes a fantastic play. Great environment. Like I said,
09:08be cool to see these two teams meet each other again in the postseason
09:12at some point, and maybe, who knows, maybe this year it's reversed and the Chiefs end up
09:16having to come into Buffalo to play the Bills, but as you mentioned, the Bills
09:20schedule is a little dicey here the next few weeks. I feel like, to me, this
09:24reiterated what I said preseason on the Chiefs where
09:28once they get Pacheco back, it's kind of reestablishing
09:32the craziest thing. If you want to have a fun exercise,
09:36look at the Chiefs. Look at Mahomes' stats. Stats do not mean everything, obviously.
09:40Look at Mahomes' and Rodgers' stats next to each other, and you'd assume the Jets
09:44are probably having a great year, and the Chiefs are totally cratering, and it's
09:48obviously the direct opposite. I say that because
09:52Patrick has not been special. He's been special in the moments it's needed,
09:56and that's not taking anything away from him. He is the best player in the sport. He is
10:00generational, but I still think when the Chiefs are at
10:04their peak, and when they're the hardest to beat, and this is what they're going to need
10:08to do. Obviously, they did it last year in Baltimore. They did it last year in
10:12Buffalo. They're a team that, if they run it
10:1625-30 times, and just smashmouth football you, and
10:20say, you're not going to score on our defense if you're
10:24pressing, Spags is going to eat you alive.
10:28I do wonder a little bit if Spags, the conspiracy theory part of it,
10:32did Spags run a little bit?
10:36It's not far-fetched. The Chiefs know
10:40they're going to be in the playoffs, and they know they're probably going to see Buffalo again, so I could see it. I just wonder
10:44I've said it so many times, but when this team's at its peak, it's
10:48hey, we have a really good running game, and a really good defense, and amazing
10:52specials, and oh, by the way, we have Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid.
10:56I want them to kind of
11:00recalibrate a little bit to see them say, hey, especially if they play
11:04at Buffalo or Baltimore, where I guess Baltimore's a little different because Baltimore's
11:08obviously, we know, can't cover the pass, but
11:12generally, if you get Mahomes in a lot of these second-and-fours,
11:16third-and-three, you're done. Just keeping him
11:20in those, keeping him in third-and-seven, third-and-eight,
11:24knowing those tackles cannot do anything is the one spot
11:28where the Bucs did them in the Super Bowl, and I know it's whatever, but
11:32it's one of the only teams that's taken them down in the playoffs, so that's to me
11:36where it's like, hey, if you can avoid that, especially if you're Kansas City against Buffalo
11:40the next time they play, potentially, they'll be in much better shape.
11:44Yeah, and to your point, their interior threes, you may have tackle brawlers, their interior three is awesome.
11:48So, yeah, if you can make the run
11:52much more dangerous than it's been, like, and they've been feeding Kareem Hunt and whatnot,
11:56but we're not talking about the same kind of player
12:00and the same kind of explosiveness. Carson Steele has been doing it for you?
12:04No, he's definitely not, but he has an alligator, so that's cool, right? That's also stupid, by the way.
12:08I've never won an alligator as a pet.
12:12It feels like he watched a little too much Love Island USA.
12:16Yeah, yeah, it's a bad job on his part. You can't be doing that.
12:20Let's go to the next game. Ravens lose to the Steelers 18-16.
12:24Steelers now 8-2, like we all predicted.
12:28I thought they were going to win 8-9 games.
12:32Ravens now 7-4, and so you were talking about
12:36last game and how you sort of put it more on Kansas City and how you viewed Kansas City
12:40versus what you said it meant for Buffalo. I feel the same way about this game
12:44because I look at Baltimore, and yes, I was the guy who picked them to win the Super Bowl,
12:48and I was back on the bandwagon a few weeks ago when they got rolling again,
12:52and I just said, you know, last week we were talking, like, just improve the defense by
12:56if you're, like, a C- right now, if you can get to, like, a B-,
13:00even a C+, with the way the offense has been playing, you can still win it all.
13:04They're a dumb team, and I'm out. I'm out.
13:08They're a bad pro team. But I just think, like,
13:12and this has shown up for them the last few years.
13:16Even last year, they were the better team, and maybe they're a little unlucky
13:20against Kansas City, but they also did some dumb things in that game, too.
13:24I don't think that this team is capable of winning, which they're going to have to,
13:28four games in a row in the postseason. I don't think they're going to do it.
13:32I think the defense is going to get there, even though, again, they didn't let a touchdown
13:36up to Pittsburgh, but it's Pittsburgh, right? Middle-of-the-road offense at best.
13:40But I just think they're dumb. Twelve penalties yesterday, three turnovers.
13:44The penalty thing, it's also about, like,
13:48the post-whistle stuff, because
13:52that's what Pittsburgh wanted to do to them. They wanted to muddy the game up. We want to be in your heads.
13:56We want you thinking a little bit. Patrick Queen's yapping at them. Like, they wanted all this stuff to happen,
14:00and what Baltimore should have done was put up the hand, get back to the huddle,
14:04and just go beat your man on the next play. And we're more talented than this
14:08team, and if we do that, third quarter, fourth quarter, you can talk
14:12as much crap as you want, because we're going to be up by 17 points in their building, and it's
14:16going to be wonderful. Instead, not that, you know, obviously comes down
14:20late in the game, but they didn't deserve to win the game. They're just a stupid, sloppy
14:24football team, and it just happens to them too many
14:28times when you don't think it should, too many times in big moments, and I kind
14:32of thought this was a big moment for them. I think, you know, Pittsburgh's had their number. I think it's
14:36now 7 of 8 or 8 of 9. Like, they wanted that game, and you
14:40could see the frustration in Lamar after the game, kind of like, what are we doing? Why
14:44does this keep happening? Well, you know, again, credit to Pittsburgh. Their defense
14:48was outstanding yesterday, but I think a lot of this had to do with the Ravens just being
14:52a dumb football team. Yeah, a couple things. One, the Ravens have to start
14:56Lamar is, it's not all Lamar's fault.
15:00I've said it a million times, like, because I can't help that Patrick Queen made, like,
15:04one of the better plays you'll see all year, and the interception down the
15:08sideline and all that stuff. Like, I am not, like, that interception
15:12is not on Lamar right now. They're not all created the same. But, like,
15:16Tomlin kind of owns him recently, and Tomlin kind of owns
15:20Harbaugh recently, as you mentioned. Like, Russ made one of the worst
15:24throws you'll see all year. He had a 14 QBR.
15:28They ran the ball for three yards a carry Pittsburgh. Also, by the way, Sneaky
15:32been really, really bad in the red zone so far, and his brief tenure is
15:36Steelers quarterback. If I speak.
15:40But, like, Derrick Henry getting 13 carries. Right.
15:44This is, like, more my frustration. You mentioned being a dumb team.
15:48They didn't run last year against Kansas City, right? Remember, that was a big thing
15:52in the playoffs. What are you doing? So, you go out, and I love Todd Bunken. Like, I
15:56wish the Jets could hire him as their coach. It's not going to happen, but.
16:00So, you go out, you get Derrick Henry, and you have no problem, you know, up 20 points,
16:04pounding the rock with Derrick Henry in the red zone when the team's already quit. And, like, that's cool, and that's fun for stats,
16:08and we can all get excited about it. Like, guys averaging five yards a carry
16:12on the road in a one-score game,
16:16and you just, nah, we're good. Lamar, four carries.
16:20Like, he had the one big one, but that's it. Like, we don't need to run the football.
16:24We're going to throw the ball 33 times, and when
16:28Lamar's not having, like, you just got to, I don't know that they read the
16:32room sometimes. It's like, hey, Lamar's not
16:36the best player in the NFL today, and that's okay. Like, he doesn't have to
16:40be that every week. He shouldn't have to be that. Hey, our defense is finally playing well for the
16:44first time, like, basically all year, outside of maybe in the Buffalo game. Like, wow.
16:48Our defense showed up, man. Like, we only gave up
16:52200 yards through the air. I know it's Russell Wilson, but, like, this is shocking.
16:56Run the football. Like, you're turning the football
17:00over like it's a loaf of bread. So, maybe give the guy
17:04who's, you know, awesome, you know, the football, Adafi always
17:08having a big game. Like, Roquan's having his, you know, doing his thing. Like, I just
17:12there are three games back of Pittsburgh now with seven to go, or six
17:16to go. I apologize. And for them, and three
17:20and three on the road, not great. You know, add the
17:24Chargers. I'm going to pick the Chargers next week when we do this pod.
17:28Well, there's a chance if they're going to, again, never mind that me and
17:32I just don't think that they can win four in a row by
17:36playing the way that they're playing, but they're
17:40in a situation now where they can end up having to go, just say
17:44the standings remain the same, and it's KC and Buffalo 1-2.
17:48They kind of have to go through Kansas City and Buffalo away games. They're not
17:52winning both those games. They're not doing it. It's just, it's not happening.
17:56Yeah, so, like, there's a good
18:00chance. They might be seven and six
18:04going into the Giants game. They'll smoke the Giants by
18:0840. But then they play the Steelers again at Houston
18:12on Christmas Day, and they finish with Pittsburgh. Sorry.
18:16Of course, the one team in the division. They finish with Cleveland. So, there's two wins on there, the
18:20six that you feel good about. They'll get to nine, ten wins for sure.
18:24And maybe they're better than that. There's a good chance they'll play this Pittsburgh
18:28team and Pittsburgh a third time. There's a good chance if they don't do that,
18:32maybe they're at Houston, who should be a lot healthier and better
18:36come that. Again, they're not a good road team this year.
18:40They're not a good road team, especially if they're not going to run the football. Credit to Pittsburgh for sure.
18:44And I'm not diminishing any of that. I still don't think they're, I don't think that
18:48they can, Russ can play a matchup right now, toe-to-toe with
18:52Mahomes now, unless you make them make mistakes, which maybe they could. I don't know.
18:56T.J. Watt could go easily wreck the game, you know, against those
19:00Chiefs tackles. And T.J. Watt goes and has one of those three sack games that,
19:04you know, he's done his whole career. And maybe they could go beat Kansas. I don't know.
19:08But what I do know is that there was a lot of
19:12Lamar MVP talk. And it doesn't matter.
19:16I just, it's just so frustrating watching yesterday,
19:20knowing that, like, this game, I swear this game happens every year.
19:24The second they go into Pittsburgh, it's like,
19:28oh, our brains totally go out the window. We look sloppy.
19:32Dumb football. It's dumb football. And it's like, what is happening? Why did that just happen?
19:36So, again, I don't want to overreact too much, because at the same
19:40time, I think, like, some of Baltimore's issues have been there all year. It just
19:44was so frustrating. All we talked about, me and you talked about on Friday, was, like, can this defense give them
19:48a shot to just, like, hey, if they go score 25, 26,
19:52easy. And, like, the defense gives them a shot.
19:56Chris Boswell is amazing yet again. And it must be nice to have a kicker that makes
20:00field goals consistently. And I don't know, man. I just
20:04they're now a game back of the Chargers. And they're playing this week,
20:08and maybe they make up that ground. But they lose there. Now they're, you know, you're really three back of the Chargers
20:12for the fifth spot. And you really want that fifth
20:16spot, because the more you drop, the more your path gets just harder
20:20and harder. And it's like, hey, I don't know. Let's say the Ravens are the sixth
20:24seed, right, where I had Cincinnati, I think, penciled in. I guess I was just wrong on the
20:28AFC North team in terms of Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. But, like,
20:32so, theoretically, you've got to go two Pittsburgh, two Buffalo,
20:36two Kansas City to win the conference. Like, I don't know if I see that
20:40right now with this team. And it's just disappointing because of how good of a
20:44year they've gotten out of Lamar. Derek Henry's looked much better, I think, than any of us
20:48thought. But, man, like, there's just
20:52something doesn't feel great. It just feels, and Lamar said it after, he's like,
20:56we just, we do dumb stuff. Yeah, you're right. You do
21:00really dumb stuff when you play against the Steelers. I'll give you one other thing, too.
21:04Justin Tucker. Two more misses. They should bring
21:08a kicker this week. They should have a competition. He's
21:12not the greatest of all time, because Adam Vinatieri
21:16has hit more money kicks than anybody, but, like, obviously, his success rate and all the different things
21:20he's done. Did Travis Kelsey break him? Maybe. Maybe, man.
21:24I don't know. Whatever. I'm just saying
21:28it's crazy, because he used to be a weapon for them, and now he's a detriment.
21:32Remember the Lions game in 2021, I believe?
21:36I think it was 2021. Is that the one where he hit the crossbar from
21:4060, whatever? It was the first year of Campbell. It was either the first or the second year of Campbell.
21:44I thought it was the first year, when they were really, like, spunky, but, like, weren't winning
21:48games. Yeah, weren't winning. And Tucker nails, I think it was 66
21:52yards or whatever it was. And it was like, dude, this is insane. Like, you don't even have
21:56to get across midfield. You get to midfield, and, you know, you're going to win the game.
22:00And guys get old. Their kickers
22:04are like relievers, but, man. Yeah, he maintained
22:08his peak for a lot longer than most guys do, but he just...
22:12It seems like it might be over, and I just had that weird feeling like
22:16they're going to get into a playoff game, and he's going to miss a few, and it's like
22:20you can't afford to do that. And, again, this is... We just keep
22:24saying it with these teams, but the problem for this... There's just different
22:28tiers of the NFL. It's just a reality, and expectations are different. If you're
22:32Pittsburgh, I think the goal is to win a playoff game this year, right? Like, to get Tom kind of
22:36off that, like... I haven't won, I think, since 2016, I believe. Yeah, they get to
22:40round two with Ross or Fields. Like, you feel like, hey, I don't know if this is
22:44the guy going forward, but, like, the core of this roster is still really good, and we feel good about going forward.
22:48Or, you know, Houston, it's like, hey, can we get back to maybe round two, win a
22:52division again, and we'll keep improving? Like, there's, like, different expectations. But for
22:56Buffalo and Baltimore, the expectation is, like, no one gives
23:00a crap unless you can beat Kansas City in the playoffs. And I just
23:04don't think right now Baltimore is anywhere near where they need to be.
23:08I don't. You mentioned Baltimore Chargers. Well, you know what?
23:12If you wanted to go see that game, I have the best idea for you. Use GameTime
23:16because they are better than any other ticket agency out there.
23:20GameTime Picks filters out the fluff to show you incredible deals on great seats so you don't have to waste time
23:24searching through thousands of tickets. I mentioned this in my pod the last couple weeks.
23:28I'm working. I'm at a TV station on a Wednesday night, and then I'm like, oh,
23:32Celtics Warriors. Why wouldn't I want to go to Celtics Warriors? Just
23:36got on the app. Bam. Boom. Got myself a ticket. Went to the game.
23:40Great experience. Great price. And the thing about them is, if
23:44you find a cheaper price somewhere else, they'll give you 110%
23:48of the cost. So that is an awesome way to stand by
23:52your brand. So download the GameTime app. Create an account. Use code CLNS
23:56for $20 off your first purchase. Terms apply. Again, create the account.
24:00Redeem the code CLNS for $20 off. Download GameTime
24:04today. What time is it? Oh, it's GameTime.
24:08Couple of just transactional notes while we're here. Yeah, shoot.
24:12Tyquan Thornton signing with the Chiefs. The least shocking thing ever.
24:16I think Conor Rodgers had a good tweet on this. He was like,
24:20they took him 50th overall. He was a consensus.
24:24The consensus board of all the guys that cover the draft. Yeah, one pick before pickings.
24:28And Conor's like, I had him barely as a draftable player and whatever.
24:32David Long signing with the Lions. Alex Anzalone is going
24:36to injured reserve. Mellon Fonlu is back
24:40for the Lions. That's obviously a good pickup there. And then lastly, Nico Collins
24:44is a full go tonight for the Cowboys after being out five weeks.
24:48If the Stroud does not look better, Bobby Slowick
24:52does not just force feed Nico Collins.
24:56Time to pack it up. I told you. Suspect, man.
25:00Suspect, but some dumb owner is going to be like, oh. He's on major
25:04fraud watch. Yes, 100%. Speaking of frauds,
25:08well, we're not starting with the Jets here. Let's go
25:12to the Patriots. They lose to the Rams. 28-22. Patriots now 3-8.
25:16Rams keep their season alive. Improved to 5-5 just a game out
25:20of the NFC West lead.
25:24So I wrote about this in the aftermath, and then I watched the game over again today
25:28just to confirm my initial thoughts.
25:32This is the defensive-minded head coach in Gerard Mayo with his
25:36hand-picked guy as the defensive coordinator, Demarcus Covington.
25:40This plan sucked. They were in man.
25:44I think Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald just tweeted this a short time ago.
25:4816 of the 27 dropbacks for Stafford, and yet
25:52Christian Gonzalez, who's been one of the best cover corners
25:56in the league this year, only had Cooper Cup or Puka
26:00Nakua on seven of those dropbacks. Most of the game, he was the boundary
26:04corner. After two possessions, Sean McVay,
26:08who's done this for a while and has had some good success, especially with offense,
26:12was like, huh, they're keeping him on the boundary like they did against Chicago.
26:16Well, you know what we'll do? We'll motion away from him. We'll keep tight ends
26:20over there. We'll keep Tutu Atwell over there. We'll keep Demarcus Robinson over there,
26:24and we will just feed Cooper Cup and Puka Nakua.
26:28Nakua was tremendous in the first half. Six catches, I think,
26:32for over 100 yards in the first half. The touchdown catch, he landed
26:36on the ball. He actually, according to McVay, threw up afterwards. That's how badly
26:40he knocked the wind out of himself or hurt something in there.
26:44He wasn't sort of the same player in the second half, and I feel like that
26:48had something to do, one with the other. But then Cooper Cup, two touchdowns,
26:52including the 69-yarder on the cover zero blitz to start the third
26:56quarter, like, it was a close game.
27:00Drake May showed a lot of life. The offense has looked better
27:04in this game. I thought it was the best offensive performance they've had
27:08in I don't even know how long. It was certainly the best offensive performance they've had with
27:12quarterback, and they've had some good moments. But their defense
27:16continues to let them down.
27:20What does that say about the head coach? That's where he came from.
27:24If he's not doing that, and if he's not helping with that, what's he bringing to the
27:28table? I'm just thoroughly disappointed because I think
27:32there were opportunities, like there have been a couple times this year, to win football
27:36games, and the check mark on the coaching, it went
27:40check, check on the other side. Minus on your side.
27:44A couple of things with this game.
27:48Matt Stafford was unbelievable
27:52again. His stats on the year are not
27:56special for Stafford, but he needed
28:00a four touchdown, zero pick game pretty badly. The Rams needed this game.
28:04We talked about, again, this is the type of loss,
28:08the Patriots have had a couple of these this year, where there's something to build on.
28:12I thought the Titans won as well, where it's like, hey, Drake May had a game
28:16winning, game tying situation. You hit. That's
28:20check. Seattle game, be really competitive
28:24and respond and check and whatever.
28:28Drake May was really good yesterday.
28:32I think that's all, in the grand scheme of things, that's the thing that matters most.
28:36But, I also feel like
28:40they still, the offense was more balanced yesterday. I still feel like
28:44having Drake May, 40 attempts, it just feels like,
28:48still feels a little bit like, jeez man.
28:52Because they were chasing all game, which again, contradicts the coach who said he never felt like they
28:56were in control of the game.
29:00You were losing by two touchdowns for a majority of the...
29:04Yeah, it's like, sure. The Cooper Cup thing, like, Cooper Cup against
29:08man. By the way, Stafford
29:12running down the field with the zero sign. Yeah, I knew what you were trying to do
29:16to me, and that was a mistake. But, look, I think you mentioned it there, and I
29:20think you're right.
29:24The coaching for the Patriots is just so odd to me, because it's like
29:28these guys play really hard every week, it feels like, and they do come prepared
29:32to play, especially since Drake May has taken over. You've seen a pretty big jump, I think,
29:36in the competitiveness. The Jacksonville game aside, I almost feel
29:40like that game, in hindsight, is ridiculous the way it unfolded. But, the rest
29:44of the year, they have been really, I feel like they've played really hard.
29:48But, they still just do really dumb stuff.
29:52I still think back to the Jets game at the end of the half, where it's like, what was that?
29:56And they've adjusted to times, but
30:00I don't know where the cohesion is in terms of what
30:04Mayo wants versus what this defense is versus what this offense is. And it kind of feels like
30:08there's, just on the outside looking in, it's like, what's the plan here?
30:12Each week, it kind of feels like, well, I don't know what you're going to get out of this defense.
30:16And then the offensive side of the ball, it's like, hey, we want to be a run-first offense
30:20that's going to control the clock and we'll let our rookie develop. And it's like, actually,
30:24we're going to let him put up Peyton Manning-level
30:28attempts back there, and we're going to run the football some, but
30:32even though we just paid Ramon Dre, whatever. I guess the overall point is, it's a competitive
30:36loss for the Patriots. It's certainly something you can build on. Drake gets another opportunity to go down there
30:40and obviously win the game. They did not. But, obviously, stats-wise,
30:44I think probably his best game of the year. And that's, again, really nice to see.
30:48I just, again, something that's just frustrating about
30:52I feel like, you have seen a drop-off defensively, I feel like, from a
30:56scheme perspective. And, again, to be expected. I mean, you lose Belichick and
31:00what he was, he's a genius. But, it is a little weird where it's like,
31:04hey, man, like, I don't know. It's like putting that amount of, not adjusting
31:08and being stubborn with that, and then your adjustment being like playing
31:12man against Matt Stafford and Cooper Kopp and Pukas. I don't know.
31:16It doesn't, it's not a winning, it's not how you, you're not going to beat the Rams like that.
31:20Like, you're not playing. Yeah, the adjusting thing is what gets me. Because, like, look,
31:24they have more information than we do. They got trends, they got
31:28charts, you know, they have all this stuff. Hey, this, that, whatever.
31:32We notice the left guards, left hand. Like, they know things that we don't know.
31:36Yeah. So, you go into it, and I
31:40even tweeted about it. The players felt, going into the game,
31:44that they had a good defensive plan. Okay, fine.
31:48But after McVay figured out what you were doing, and he adjusted to you, you never adjusted
31:52to him. You always have to have the counterpunch to the counterpunch.
31:56Because that's how the game works. The league works that way.
32:00Not only big picture, but in the little moments like that during the course of the game.
32:04And they were just like, no, they were content. He used the word, I thought we could outlast them.
32:08What does that even mean?
32:12Just adjust. And I'll give you this.
32:16The other side of the ball, I thought that was Alex Van Pelt's best job.
32:20They had a plan for Jared Vers. Two weeks ago, they got chewed up by
32:24Jeffrey Simmons. They had no plan for him.
32:28This one, they came in and said, all right, we're going to double him, we're going to chip him,
32:32and they threw at him. They ran a tight end screen for 19 yards right behind him.
32:36They ran another screen with Romandre in the fourth quarter. They gained 7 or 8 yards.
32:40They threw the touchdown pass to Vidarian Lowe, the tackle.
32:44That was Vers' right across from him, didn't know.
32:48They had an idea of what they wanted to do. They made sure, knowing that front is really good
32:52and your line is not very good. I think 33 of the 40
32:56dropbacks, the attempts were either behind the line of scrimmage
33:00or between 0 and 9 yards. It's a good plan, man.
33:04And it was a lot of not him running around and making a play. It was like, no, that was design.
33:08Like, oh, Vers beat the left tackle. The ball's already out. Oh, Fisk beat the
33:12left guard. Ball's already out. By design, the ball was out.
33:16Most of these times, it wasn't, oh, crap, I've got to get rid of it because I'm about to get decked.
33:20No, that was the play. Boom, boom. Ball's out. Done.
33:24Frustrate the rush. So they did a lot of good things yesterday.
33:28But it would be nice to not turn the ball over to end the game.
33:32He and Pop Douglas not on the same page. I'm not even looking for the ball.
33:36I didn't think it was a great throw. I'm not sure Pop
33:40did the right thing. No one wanted to throw the other one on the bus. May sort of took the
33:44responsibility himself, saying, we just have to talk more about it. Miscommunication.
33:48But I guess, again, part of dealing with
33:52a young quarterback without a ton of experience
33:56who's prone to make mistakes. I think that's now 10 turnovers for me, two in the game.
34:00The forced fumble, the strip sack there from Fisk, which by
34:04the way, I think was their fastest sack in the league in terms of how quickly he got there.
34:08Oh, by the way, Michael Jordan
34:12and Ben Brown, the center, left guard, once again, couldn't pick up a stunt.
34:16Miscommunicated. That's been going on for like a month now.
34:20But sure, just keep doing that. Anyway, that's it. We don't need to spend any more time on it.
34:24Good for the Rams. Good win. Keeps them alive. Patriots, yeah, like you said,
34:28some things to build off of, but they continue to be a befuddling team
34:32in critical moments. Then there's the Jets.
34:36Now, I'd like to say that
34:40as a good friend of yours, that I told you we weren't going to talk about the path anymore
34:44because there wasn't a path. And the
34:48Colts beat the Jets 28-27.
34:52This season is
34:56beyond anything. I think I had them winning 13 games
35:00maybe. I really thought, because of the way I felt about the defense and just
35:04competent, solid play from Rodgers that they would take off. It's gone
35:08the other way.
35:12As I'm looking at my notes, I guess
35:16the one thing I wanted to ask you, and continue to
35:20talk about this at the 40-year-old quarterback, he didn't hit over
35:24100 yards passing until the third quarter.
35:28Is he holding them back? Is Aaron Rodgers holding the Jets back?
35:32And I don't even say, look, there's a lot of things that have gone
35:36wrong, so I'm not even talking about from being a Super Bowl team, but
35:40from being a winning team?
35:44I just want to start quickly, and then I want to get to your question because I have a longer answer for that.
35:48I thought Anthony Richardson bounced back in a really nice way. I think he's a guy who
35:52showed a lot of ability. He made some really nice throws.
35:56He still makes some really inaccurate throws, and his pocket presence is horrendous.
36:00A lot of things that need to be worked on, for sure, but you see the natural talent
36:04and the whole shot to Pierce on the game-winning drive.
36:08A couple of the QB powers were really impressive, and different things like that. He's really hard
36:12to tackle, and the arm's live. He didn't do a good job of actually
36:16throwing the ball. Josh Shounds had a choice route on that
36:20final drive, too. We were like, oh, that was a really nice timing
36:24throw, like an NFL throw. He had some
36:28ones, the two-point conversion, where it's like, dude, I could have thrown that.
36:32He knew it, too. He literally sprinted the length of the field
36:36holding his head because he was frustrated. The Colts keep themselves
36:40alive. I think they're
36:44not a really well-coached team on the defensive side of the ball. Offensively, I think
36:48they do some nice things on offense.
36:52I think another year, maybe it was Steichen and Richardson and adding some more talent. The offensive line
36:56was banged up yesterday. That's what I say about the Colts. I think their season is also
37:00treading in the wrong direction, but it was a nice win yesterday. They have one of the best kickers,
37:04by the way, in the NFL. They literally, on third and nine from the
37:0840, ran it up the middle because they were like, nah, they'll hit a 58-yarder
37:12and boomed it right in. From the Jets' point of view, to answer
37:16your question about Rodgers,
37:20do I think he's holding them back down by down?
37:24There's a good argument to be made. The reason is simply
37:28that right now, I honestly don't know what Rodgers
37:32is going to get drive by drive. It's so weird. The first half, he could
37:36not have looked worse. It was like, oh my god, it's over.
37:40I can't believe it. It's honestly sad. It makes you really sad to watch.
37:44Is he done? He's one of the best three quarterbacks
37:48I've ever seen in my lifetime. This is crazy.
37:52Eight weeks ago, served for 300 yards and three touchdowns looking
37:56like Keith Rodgers. I don't know. That
38:00sounded cheesy, but it was hard to watch.
38:04He did a decent job. He had a little happy feet in the pocket, but gets Breeze to dump off
38:08and he goes and scores. You're like, all right, let's see what happens.
38:12There was a period there where you're like, all right, he's actually moving around
38:16a little bit. He broke the pocket a few times, had a really nice throw on third and 14.
38:20You're like, oh, that's classic Rodgers. He pulled
38:24a run play, hit Devontae for a big gainer. Devontae had to give me
38:28route. There was no overhang over him.
38:32I was like, oh, that was cool. He
38:36doesn't want to get hit. Again, I'm not blaming him at all.
38:40Part of why Rodgers was so great was his ability
38:44to move within the pocket to buy time. The play would break down and there
38:48was nobody we've ever seen better in the NFL.
38:52You give him an inch and he'd take a mile. Guys running deep down the field, him
38:56taking these 60-yard bombs. The arm strength is there. We've seen it.
39:00It's not there. He just refuses. He had a play.
39:04The Jets were in a... It was very early in the game.
39:08This encapsulates what's going on with the Jets right now.
39:12Really, a two-man route. Ruckert was the third guy.
39:16Long developing play action to get Devontae and Garrett down the field.
39:20They're both open. Even if they weren't open, it was a 50-50 ball. You throw
39:24to your guy. He dumps it off to Ruckert, who's
39:28their backup tight end, who ends up dropping. It almost was a fumble six.
39:32It's like, dude, throw the ball. What are you doing?
39:36Yesterday, I thought he held them back very much in the first half.
39:40The second half, I think he was fine. I just don't know.
39:44It's so hard to tell sometimes when you watch the Jets right now.
39:48None of us know what the play call is.
39:52I wasn't in the huddle when it got called. The offense is static.
39:56He doesn't move a ton. It's just so frustrating because
40:00I'm not trying to cover for the guy, but at the same time, you see these flashes
40:04and you're like, oh, it's still there. Why can't you do this play down by down?
40:08I don't know if he's frustrated with how his body isn't doing exactly
40:12what he wants all the time. It's like he can't adjust. I don't know if it's protecting the interception
40:16and completion percentage. The body language stuff
40:20sucks. I don't ever really care about that stuff. I think body language
40:24is overrated. I also think that when you're losing
40:28and you're the quarterback, at some point, you got to have to
40:32not get angry ever too soon. He lit up Braylon Allen
40:36on a play where... I get it. Braylon Allen could have got called for a false start. He actually wasn't
40:40the guy who got called for the penalty. It's like, light up the offensive lineman
40:44but you don't want to... I don't know. It's just... it's a mess right now.
40:48If you asked me four days ago, he was going to come back. They were going to draft
40:52a guy and he'll be kind of the bridge guy. Now, I don't
40:56know. It sucks. I don't know.
41:00It's a long way of saying he probably is holding them back on a down by down
41:04basis. I don't know that there's a better
41:08answer. I hear all the Tyrod... oh, just Phantom
41:12Injury Rodgers. Let Tyrod go out there. Sure, but
41:16if you Phantom Injury Rodgers and then Tyrod does what unfortunately
41:20Tyrod's done throughout his career and get hurt immediately, now you're
41:24just... it's just a disaster and you're playing Adrian Martinez.
41:28That's not a real solution. I hope that Rodgers
41:32takes these two weeks for the bye and basically is like, dude, I don't know if this
41:36is your last six games you ever play in the NFL. I don't know if you're going to go somewhere else next year. You'll be
41:40back. I have no idea what'll happen. There's so many variables. Can you just kind of try
41:44to have fun? See, there's no pressure anymore. It's over. Go try to have
41:48fun for six weeks and let it rip. Who gives a crap?
41:52You're still going to hold the all-time ratio. You're about to hit 500 touchdowns.
41:56Just go let it rip and who cares? It's like he does it once in a while
42:00but he doesn't do it consistently and it's more that Garrett and
42:04Devontae are open. They're open all the time and it's like, Conklin's
42:08open all the time. Just throw the ball. Brees Hall,
42:12this is the craziest quote and Connor Rodgers and Joe Caproso and the other pod I do
42:16brought this up and I didn't hear it because I was in the stadium. Jason McCourty brought up
42:20on the broadcast, the Jets don't design pass plays for Brees Hall.
42:24He's not ever the number one read.
42:28Why?
42:32It's a comedy of mistakes and they've found different ways
42:36to lose. I think five of the seven losses this year or six of the eight
42:40losses are by a combined 14 points.
42:44Bill Belichick, the wise words and I'll shut up after this. The wise words of Bill Belichick,
42:48the NFL is about not losing games. It's not usually about
42:52winning them. That's why the Patriots are so good for so long. The Jets
42:56have all year, Patriots game, Patriots fans will remember the Broncos
43:00game, the Vikings game, the Bills game. Missed kicks,
43:04stupid penalties, missed throws. And then the encapsulation,
43:08Rodgers, after not targeting Tyler Conklin the whole game,
43:12not sure why, but doesn't target him and
43:16decides, this is a guy by the way who's played for 20 years
43:20in the NFL. Arguably the smartest football player
43:24we've ever seen from a football cerebral point of view.
43:28I'm not doing politics thing. Licks the ball sideways
43:32and it doesn't go forward enough. It's a dumb play. The idea is not dumb, but the
43:36execution was so stupid, the game was over.
43:4048 seconds to go 25 yards,
43:44they could do it. I don't think that's insane. And he
43:48checks it down once, takes a sack and fumbles. And I was like, what? The drive
43:52before you just, you were running around throwing third and 15 darts
43:56on a comeback route and now all of a sudden your brain broke. What
44:00was, I don't know. That's a long way of answering, but like it's the frustration
44:04and just the stupidity of some of these mistakes. It's like so
44:08on, you're just not used to it with Rodgers. Like that's what's so frustrating. I think we saw it at the end with
44:12Peyton and some of these guys too, where it's like, what are you doing? Right.
44:16I don't know. It's very odd. I'll say it. You guys do better off
44:20with a new quarterback next year. And I know that
44:24that's scary because who knows what that quarterback is, but it just feels
44:28like this didn't work and it was worth the shot, the try.
44:32Especially when you consider what the Jets quarterback situation was
44:36and has been, but it, you know, you just wonder
44:40what would have happened. That team was way more
44:44flawed last year, offensive line wise, but you just wonder like, was that the shot?
44:48Was it, was last year really the year? And you know,
44:52Rodgers without the Achilles injury, like he's obviously a year older
44:56out of football. The game sometimes slows down for you and you slow down and the game
45:00speeds up and we've all been there, like coming back from injuries and stuff. And you
45:04just wonder, was that the year? And when that happened, did it really die
45:08that night? And then this year was kind of like, this
45:12year was what next year probably would have looked like. And maybe they got it a year early.
45:16Maybe that'll be better for the franchise long-term. But anyone that tells you coaching
45:20doesn't matter in this league, look no further than the LA Chargers.
45:24I don't want to hear that excuse. The Chargers have a worse team on paper
45:28than they did last year. And I have the number one defense in Justin Herbert, looks like
45:32my top four quarterback comfortably. He's had one interception on the year,
45:36Mike? Fourteen and one, man. It's pretty impressive.
45:40Before we get to that game, just a reminder, prize picks, best place to get real
45:44money sports action, over 10 million members, billions of dollars in award winnings.

46:16you still get the $50. Prize picks, run your game.
46:20We'll do our picks as we always do at the end of the week.
46:24Try to win you some money. Yeah, you mentioned the last game we wanted to get to.
46:28I was so tired last night and I
46:32couldn't go to bed. Could not go to bed because it was
46:36Justin Herbert versus Joe Burrow. Burrow started dealing in the second half,
46:40Burrow started dealing in the first half. Now obviously the late game situations,
46:44Chargers end up winning the football game. They improve to 7-3.
46:48Bengals fall to 4-7.
46:52You mentioned the Chargers. Quickly though, is it over for the Bengals?
46:56Nope.
47:00The AFC, that's why people give me a hard time.
47:04That's why until this week it wasn't over for the Jets.
47:08Until one of these teams gets hot for literally a month, they're going to make it.
47:12The Bengals are really bad on defense. Their offensive line
47:16can be started with the, oh, play for one each other.
47:20Meanwhile, it's like, dude, people are just eviscerating Burrow and you guys are doing nothing about it.
47:24But, all that said,
47:28they're a game back, really two games back, but they're two games back at Denver
47:32and as good as Denver looks,
47:36I don't know. I don't love Denver.
47:40They play Denver at the end of the year in Cincinnati and if they're a game apart,
47:44but at the same time, as good as Burrow is right now, he's playing
47:48unbelievable football. Jomar Chase is amazing. T. Higgins is fantastic.
47:52The coaching staff of the Bengals is really good.
47:56It's like, they just can't figure it out.
48:00You just...
48:04They have years like this and usually it reverses themselves.
48:08We talk about this all the time because I think it's a little overrated, but
48:12the one-score game, because most of these games are one-score games in the NFL,
48:16but they're on the wrong side of all these one-score games this year.
48:20Yesterday, and I don't want to hear the Burrow...
48:24I don't know. There's some weird people out there that think Burrow's not clutch.
48:28It doesn't have a ton of fourth-quarter comebacks. Dude took them down the field.
48:32They had two field goals that McPherson
48:36misses, right? McPherson?
48:40That didn't sound right for a second.
48:44Oh, by the way, I can't stand kickers.
48:48It just drives me nuts that they're that prominently involved.
48:52He's doing what he can. He's playing
48:56awesome football right now. If they were 7-4 instead of 4-7,
49:00we might be talking about him as the MVP.
49:04He's doing ridiculous things right now and has been for
49:08six, seven weeks. Their talent erosion
49:12on defense has really limited them,
49:16and the guys that they invested in on defense with some first-picks,
49:20second-round picks, haven't done
49:24what they were projected to do. They just haven't
49:28got enough out of those players. What they were a few years ago
49:32when Anna Rumo should have got a head coaching job versus what they are now is
49:36they're playing guessing games. They had to bench Cameron Taylor Britt,
49:40who's had a really tough year. Finally, they're just like, we can't do it anymore.
49:44Josh Newton comes in. They're spinning the dial at really
49:48important positions because they're just not getting the play that they expected out of
49:52players that they drafted highly and have built around.
49:56Sometimes
50:00this happens. I don't know. I know they're not
50:04a one-on-one example, but look at Minnesota the year that
50:08three years ago they win every one score game. It feels like
50:12everything is going right. The next year, nothing
50:16seems to be going right. This year, everything is going right. This is what happens in the NFL
50:20sometimes. It's kind of hard to explain with the Bengals.
50:24You just think back to week one. That's an encapsulation of
50:28their season. How did you lose that game? How did you lose the Washington game?
50:32You didn't punt. You look back at both
50:36Baltimore games. How does this happen? Jamar Chase
50:40is going to be even more expensive than the offseason now. Great job
50:44not getting that one done. Good job there.
50:48You look at the Chargers where it's the opposite. Where it's like, hey, they're
50:52doing the little things they need to do right. Had some Chargery moments yesterday when they were
50:56up 24-6 or whatever it was.
51:0027-6 and 27-20 I believe.
51:04What's happening? What's going on here? You watch guys like Herbert
51:08and he uses his legs and obviously doesn't turn the football over at all. His defense is so sound.
51:12Jesse Minter, I've talked about a million times. I'll continue to push that.
51:16He's really good at his job. He's got them playing
51:20back last night. Name me five guys in the Chargers
51:24defense if you don't watch the Chargers or cover the NFL. It's probably pretty hard to do.
51:28They're the number one defense in the league.
51:32Burrow throwing it 50 times is not ideal, obviously. He's as good as he is.
51:36They're a one-trick pony
51:40and some weeks it can work and some weeks it doesn't. I just look
51:44at the Chargers and I'm like, hey, you're going to have the coach of the year, probably the
51:48coach of the year and Herbert's going to be a pro bowler.
51:52You're going to have a lot more cap space and draft picks coming up.
51:56You're in a really good spot to be good for a long time.
52:00The conversation about them is starting to change.
52:04They've won four in a row now to go from 3-3 to 7-3.
52:08I shouldn't say would there be a team that scares you in the playoffs
52:12because they've got pieces, obviously.
52:16Do you think that team can win a playoff game?
52:20I do. I do because I feel like in a big game
52:24right now, would you trust Chargers?
52:28We're talking about 6 or 7 seed though, right?
52:32Right now, technically they're the 5.
52:36They're the 5 now. They'd be playing, theoretically, the playoffs start today at Houston.
52:40I kind of think I like the Chargers in that game.
52:44Things could change in Baltimore, maybe.
52:48If they're the 6, they're playing an AFC North team.
52:52I think this all comes down to, for me, can the Chargers be healthy going into the playoffs?
52:56Because the coaching, I think they're going to have an advantage, even in the AFC,
53:00pretty much in, I don't know, if the Chargers are playing the Bills.
53:04I like the Chargers staff better. I just do.
53:08We've seen this too many times.
53:12Knowing, hey, they're a year, at least, ahead of schedule.
53:16And hardball, usually in year 2 and 3 is when it starts to
53:20get really fricking impressive.
53:24I think I had them as the 7th seed going into the year.
53:28I was just outwardly really high on them.
53:32I didn't expect them to be this good. I thought they were going to be a spunky 9-8 team.
53:36They seem to win 11 games. I don't know. I want to see what they look like
53:40against the Chiefs, because I think the Bengals are one level of competition
53:44you look at. They've got a couple of games coming up here.
53:48They've got to stretch, really, the next 5 of
53:52the last 7 for them.
53:56They're 7-3 now. Home against Baltimore,
54:00huge game. Their chances of winning a playoff game increase quite a bit
54:04if they win that game. At Atlanta, sorry,
54:08a big game. Then at KC on Sunday Night Football
54:12in a couple of weeks. They could go 1-2, even 2-1 there.
54:16You finish with Tampa at home, Denver at home, at New England, at Vegas.
54:20It's 11 wins. Again, I don't know
54:24if this team is a better sum of its parts with a really good quarterback and good coach, but
54:28we've seen teams go on runs like that where it's like, hey,
54:32I don't know. I don't know where I land with them. I just think they're a really good team.
54:36I don't think anyone wants to play them. They're just tough as nails right now, so it's tough.
54:40I think they are short two receivers, not just
54:44one. Short like six. Yeah, right. So I think that's going to be
54:48an interesting one when they play Kansas City.
54:52Kansas City can cover. Are you able
54:56to scheme up McConkie and get your deep shot to Johnson or whatever and have
55:00him make the catch? Palmer, those sorts of things. Not that it matters now, but they should
55:04sign T Higgins, right? Oh, they should totally be in on T Higgins.
55:0875 mil. Well, I know there's a team in
55:12my backyard that will certainly be in that conversation as they've been
55:16searching high and low for a number one. I don't even know if T is a number one, by the way.
55:20He's good. He's really good, but it helps when
55:24Jamar's on the other side. Yeah, they'll be
55:28in. He's going to get paid. Good for him, right? I mean, it's
55:32the right time when everybody's paying wide receivers big money. All right, that's
55:36going to put a wrap on this one. Quick shout out to the Lions who just absolutely
55:40curb stomped the freaking Jaguars into submission. That team is
55:44just a train wreck. Could be Bill Belichick's next stop. Who knows?
55:48He is Will Parkinson. I'm Mike Giardi. Remind me to like, listen, subscribe,
55:52tell your friends, leave a review. Do all those good things for us.
