00:00He's caught! Touchdown!
00:04The New England Patriots select Drake May.
00:08He's got the ball! And that's the ballgame!
00:12Welcome to the All 32 Pod. Mike Giardi alongside, as always, Will Parkinson.
00:16Week 12 pretty much in the books. We have the Har-Bowl on Monday night.
00:20We're currently taping at about 12.30 on Monday afternoon.
00:24Of course, this show brought to you by PrizePix, the exclusive Daily Fantasy partner
00:28of the CLNS Media Network and Game Time Best Tickets, Best Prices to get you in to see
00:32any event you want, football, concerts, what have you.
00:36Will, a lot to get to. Let's jump into it. There's a bunch of games that we could have
00:40done today, quite frankly. We probably could have done about a four-hour pod today, but
00:44we're not going to do that to people at home, or ourselves, quite frankly.
00:48Let's start with, wasn't the best game of the day, but it was the game
00:52I was covering yesterday. Patriots lose to the Miami Dolphins in
00:56Miami 34-15. That is now eight of
01:00nine losses for the Patriots down in Miami.
01:04They got boat raced in the second quarter, Will. 24-0.
01:08The drives win is followed. Eight for 65 and a score. Nine for
01:1266 and a score. Ten for 80 and a score. And then seven for
01:1656 and a field goal just before the half.
01:20The Patriots were a hot mess in this game. This was a, for those people
01:24that were thinking they were making a step forward over the last month by playing competitive
01:28football, pushing the Rams. Yeah, I know they lost to the Titans, but at least went to overtime
01:32and they had the late drive by Drake May. This was a
01:36oh boy. You're back into late September, all of October
01:40football where you were getting killed pretty much each and every week. Yeah, this was really
01:44disappointing, frankly. Miami is obviously, I think they have the worst
01:48strength of wins in the league, but Miami's been rolling for sure with Tua back
01:52and even with some bad decisions and things
01:56like that, they've looked kind of like the team we thought in the beginning of the year. They're going to beat up on everyone
02:00that's not very good. We haven't really seen them outside of the Buffalo game. And they meet the
02:04Rams, which is a solid win for sure, but I feel like
02:08this wasn't really about Miami because they allowed Miami to do
02:12all of the things that make Miami really good. Get the ball to his hand quickly.
02:16Zero pass rush. Zero ability to tackle behind the line of scrimmage
02:20and stop none of the easy stuff. And then on offense, kind of
02:24just outside of running a really cool hook and ladder play at the end of the game
02:28and the one Drake May like broken coverage down 35 points.
02:32You know what? Nothing. So just a bad
02:36draw. Mayo's got to maybe fix some of the, take a breath
02:40before answering questions.
02:44The quote, I know he didn't mean what he said, and the quote out of context
02:48is brutal. But this isn't the first time this has
02:52happened. This is like the ninth time since he's been hired where it's like an
02:56encapsulation of, in what world was that a smart thing to say?
03:00How did you not learn from the soft thing earlier in the year where
03:04yeah, is it really what you meant? It doesn't really matter what you meant
03:08because you said it. And I just felt like this was a flat effort.
03:12This was a team that didn't look like they wanted to be down there.
03:16As much as I understand, they're not playing for anything, quote unquote.
03:20I get it. This is the point of the year where this is what starts to happen. This is why
03:24the NFL is what it is. But even more so, I feel like the last couple of years
03:28guys have made a lot more business decisions later in the year. But we're not talking
03:32December 25th. We're talking before Thanksgiving and a team that's been playing pretty
03:36competitive football. And yesterday was embarrassing.
03:40It just was one of those, I don't know how to describe it other than I felt like
03:44it was a bad look. I don't think they're 30 points worse than Miami. I don't think
03:48this is as bad of a team as they showed. And again, the Mayo comments
03:52just don't sit right with me. He's not
03:56going to get fired. But I really am underwhelmed
04:00with, I'm really impressed with the quarterback. Again, a million times we've said it
04:04but I'm impressed with the quarterback. I'm impressed with small parts of this roster.
04:08I'm really not super high on
04:12the front office and the coach in particular. You're in one of the biggest
04:16media markets in the country. You are one of the biggest brands in football.
04:20And you're not new to this. You're a new head coach, but you are not
04:24new to this. It's been in your contract. This was going to be
04:28your job. You had plenty of time to prep for it. And I just feel like there's been a lot of
04:32press mistakes, which in the grand scheme of things I understand is not
04:36the number one priority of your coach. But it's a huge part of your job. Robert Sala, I remember
04:40talked about how I undervalued how much part of my job
04:44was about speaking to the media, media stuff, all these availabilities, different
04:48things. And I just say they go out on the field and whatever happens, happens.
04:52Dude, what? Come on. I don't know.
04:56Again, small thing, but kind of encapsulated the way they played yesterday to be honest with you.
05:00See, this is the thing to me. And it's sort of when we talked about last week about not
05:04knowing that Marcus Jones, Alex Van Pelt, not knowing that Marcus Jones had played offense prior to
05:08and then the way they tried to sort of almost cover that up. Well, we were worried about him
05:12playing defense and getting healthy. We still had team meetings.
05:16People knew. Well, your offense coordinator said he didn't know. But to me,
05:20that was a symptom of a greater problem. And there have
05:24been all these little missteps, all these little mistakes, bad communication.
05:28We talked about this is supposed to be collaborative. That's not
05:32collaborating if you're not communicating. And this just to me was another. He goes
05:36out there and says, well, once they're in between the lines, there's nothing I can do for him.
05:40No, actually, there is. You're supposed to be able to make adjustments.
05:44And that has been argue in no sport more than in football.
05:48That's the case. And this staff hasn't
05:52done that this year. They haven't been good with adjustments.
05:56They have largely been when you go after games
06:00and you put the checkmark in the column, who won this battle? Who won that battle?
06:04If you go into the coaching column, I think there are two or three times
06:08all year you could put the checkmark in the Patriots column. And look,
06:12I understand the roster still needs work. It needs plenty of work.
06:16But show me that you're getting better. Show me where you're getting better, aside from where
06:20the quarterback has been. Your young wide receivers aren't developing.
06:24Your offensive line, whatever. It's a hot mess. And I understand there's a lot of
06:28bit parts in there, pieces, but still not getting better,
06:32getting worse. Yesterday was a debacle. Six pre-snap penalties.
06:36Had to bench the right tackle. Could have easily benched...
06:40And isn't there already a change-up coming and more starters?
06:44He was asked today if there would be changes
06:48forthcoming. He said yes. Left it at that. Once again, the problem with this
06:52is because of injuries and because of just the overall depth of the roster,
06:56which is to say there is no depth, exactly where do you turn?
07:00So, who played guard for most of last year in this practice, mostly at guard
07:04this year, was the starter at the beginning of the year, but got hurt and has been benched since.
07:08Hasn't been able to get back on the field. He stepped in at right tackle when they put Demantre
07:12Jacobs down. Caden Wallace, the kid they picked out of Penn State in round three,
07:16has been on IR. Maybe he comes back this week. Cole Strange, again, maybe he
07:20comes back this week. But how much of an upgrade can you
07:24expect from that? Strange hasn't played in almost a year. And Caden Wallace
07:28has been down for at least eight weeks now.
07:32I don't know. It's a rough look all around.
07:36The thing I wanted to add in the coaching aspect,
07:40and it's not just about the actual job that's being done,
07:44it's the fact that, in my opinion, this actually was a pretty attractive job in the offseason.
07:48If it had actually been an open job. I talk a lot about Mike Vrabel
07:52with the Jets. I'm sorry. I think if Mike Vrabel was this team's coach,
07:56they would be in a different spot. I think this was a job that
08:00made a top three pick, hundreds of millions of caps face,
08:04a ownership group that, while it was probably more involved now,
08:08and that's a topic for another day,
08:12funded and helped build a group
08:16alongside Bill and Tom that was amazing for 20-plus years.
08:20They know talent. Mayo had this job, and whether it was deserved
08:24or not, I think we all agree that Gerard deserved a shot to be a head coach. It's not about that.
08:28They didn't even try to interview other people or really seriously interview
08:32other people. I just think it's hard to sit there and look and say,
08:36hey, man, you've got to be better than this.
08:40Again, no one's asking you to beat eight and three
08:44right now. Performances like yesterday shouldn't be
08:48happening, especially knowing we've seen it when it doesn't happen.
08:52We've seen the Rams game, the Jets game, the Seahawks game,
08:56Bangles game. You've played competitive football against good teams. Miami is no
09:00way or near better or any different than what the Rams really are. I mean, they beat the Rams,
09:04but they're on a similar tier. The Bangles are a team people still think
09:08probably beats Miami on a neutral field. It's not. Seattle, same thing.
09:12Just laying an egg already in a team, you cannot be losing the locker room
09:1611 games into your tenure in any way, shape, or form, in my opinion.
09:20That was the last point, and it was remarked by a number of reporters
09:24that the locker room was
09:28unbothered, was the word that was used. Just sort of like, oh, there were more smiles
09:32and laughing than you would expect after you just got your you-know-what kicked in the dirt.
09:36It was 34-15, but it really wasn't 34-15.
09:40It was 31-0 before you start making this
09:44quote-unquote late push. Come on, man. The foot was off the
09:48accelerator for Miami. And to your coaching point,
09:52three-point loss to Seattle. They lost to Miami in a close game the first time. They lose to the
09:56Rams by six. They lose to Tennessee by three.
10:00How much does good coaching,
10:04better coaching in those aspects swing those games?
10:08You win two of those, three of them? Are you winning all four?
10:12It's possible, right, even with this roster that you were in those games.
10:16And like I said, yesterday was a massive, massive step back
10:20for this football team. They have Indianapolis at home next, which I would think, at least
10:24from an offensive standpoint, would be a good place to get a bounce back. I think
10:28you know what they do defensively. Gus Bradley, God love him
10:32for how he keeps his job. I could see 275
10:36and two or three touchdowns for Drake. Whether you win the game or you're
10:40super competitive, that's a real possibility. Anthony Richardson was back
10:44to being Anthony Richardson yesterday. I think 11 for 28.
10:48You know that the forward pass is a challenge for that team.
10:52Let's go to Cowboys beating the Commanders 34-26.
10:56Cowboys who had been just mired in hell with a big
11:00W in Washington. Commanders fall to 7-5.
11:04Quickly from a Cowboys side, Micah Parsons, when he's right,
11:08is still really, really good. Washington had all kinds of problems with him
11:12yesterday. Bigger picture is, Washington was the
11:16flavor du jour in September, October, even into
11:20the early part of November. Now struggling.
11:24Are we getting the...Jaden Daniels threw
11:28for 57 yards in the first half. He was picked off once. Ended up with
11:32275, two TDs, two picks. Rushed for 74.
11:36He doesn't look like the same player. It feels like, Will,
11:40we're starting to get the Cliff Kingsbury. Second half of the season.
11:44Offensive coordinator. I don't quite know how to adjust
11:48the people that have tape on me now and have enough tape on me and what we want to do.
11:52Yeah, a couple different things you mentioned there. It's the Cliff side of things.
11:56It's the...haven't had a bye yet
12:00and have just been kind of like...this is a roster that
12:04was overachieving. This is a roster that overall
12:08I feel like took advantage of some early schedule
12:12stuff. Some lucky results, frankly. That doesn't take away
12:16anything. Jaden Daniels, again, has not been the same player it feels like
12:20for a while now. Just consistently.
12:24It's not that he's not good. It's just he's banged up and he had the rib stuff and we never
12:28really knew what was going on there and he never missed any time. But it feels
12:32like it just hasn't looked the same.
12:36Less willingness to run and doing these different things.
12:40Which is natural, obviously. Overall,
12:44yesterday sucked for them. It was disappointing. I know everyone just crushed the kicker
12:48and stuff. If Dallas had any semblance of being
12:52a normal team that didn't have just crazy stuff happening, they're never even in that
12:56situation because...not sure how Terry McCorn...great play, but why is Terry McCorn not
13:00overly involved? They don't push the ball down the field at all. I don't know if that's
13:04Cliff, it's Jaden, it's a combination of stuff, whatever it is. They don't push the ball down the field at all.
13:08The defense has looked a lot more like the defense I think we thought we were going to see.
13:12Look, Dallas still has talent on their team and Cooper Rush is
13:16frankly, in my opinion, still a pretty high level backup. He's not going to make
13:20the killer mistakes, generally speaking. He's not amazing at all. He doesn't have this rocket arm,
13:24but reputable stats. He's got a decent record as a starter and
13:28they still move the ball alright. Special teams yesterday
13:32again was atrocious from them. They're just not a team that can be...
13:36they're not a team in position and they're not good enough yet to make that many mistakes
13:40offensively, defensively, and on special teams obviously. The missed kicks,
13:44the punt stuff, it's another game where their punt unit or kick unit is
13:48costing them a game. Pittsburgh comes to mind obviously with the blocked punt and these different things.
13:52They should have beat Pittsburgh. They should have...argument could be made
13:56that they should have won yesterday and other things. They have a pretty easy
14:00path, in my opinion, to 10 wins and getting in the playoffs still, which would be a huge
14:04success for this franchise for sure. I think they're
14:08at least a year early, if not two years early, in this rebuild.
14:12But I do like...Keith Turbin's amazing.
14:16He's the most...he probably might be the most confident player in the NFL.
14:20It's insane. And as good as that play was,
14:24that's just horrendous gap integrity and different things.
14:28Credit to Dallas. This is a classic Dallas that will win a couple games here.
14:32They shouldn't and they'll take themselves out of position. They'll probably pick 10th or 9th.
14:36They'll take Gente out of Boise State and we'll have everyone talk about
14:40Zeke, Gente, Lamb, and Dak next year
14:44with Coach Mike Vrabel or whatever.
14:48That totally has Jerry written all over it, by the way.
14:52Trading two first round picks and Michael Parsons for Shador and hiring Dion. Those are the
14:56two outcomes it feels like. But again, credit to Dallas for actually
15:00winning a game that they shouldn't have but they needed that badly.
15:04But I just feel like Washington is going to look back and say, hey, we might not have
15:08caught the Eagles, but maybe we were the 5 seed and could have gone out and beaten
15:12an Atlanta team theoretically or someone and won a playoff game year one and now you're feeling
15:16really damn good. Now it feels like
15:20are they going to get in as the 7? If they beat New Orleans, Tennessee,
15:24and Dallas at the end of the year and like, hey, I don't know, man.
15:28You're going to get Philly again and I know you play Philly well, but it's to me too much.
15:32It just kind of feels like missed opportunities, I guess, is what I kind of look at it.
15:36I think you kind of kick yourself if you're an organization going, hey,
15:40I know we're overachieving, but let's keep overachieving.
15:44Don't settle just because you are not shitty anymore.
15:48They were 7-2. They're 7-5
15:52now. It would be a, even though, as you mentioned,
15:56probably a year, maybe too early at this point. When you get to 7-2,
16:00it would be a colossal disappointment if you don't find your way into the postseason
16:04and it would slow some of the momentum.
16:08I think that they had built over the first two months of the season about this regime that changed the whole
16:12thing. You're bringing new energy to that stadium. It's just a game you can't lose yesterday.
16:16And again, from a talent perspective,
16:20probably similar teams from a talent perspective, but you just, you were
16:24at home. You needed it more. And the number of
16:28breakdowns, and you mentioned special teams, that's Larry Izzo is the special teams coordinator,
16:32former Patriot Dolphin special team
16:36linebacker type. He's got to get that buttoned up or he might be
16:40freshening up his resume for the coming season.
16:44Let's hear from one of our sponsors, Game Time. Of course, we're talking about all these great games
16:48and the potential. For instance, if you're out on the West Coast, wouldn't you want
16:52to go to the Harbor Bowl tonight? You get tickets to go see Jim versus
16:56John. Big deal. Obviously, the Chargers playing as well as anybody right
17:00now having won four in a row. Baltimore needs this one. They've been
17:04stumbling along. So you say to yourself, well, how do I get there? There's no way I can get tickets. No, you can get tickets.
17:08You just go on Game Time and they have a new feature called Game Time Picks
17:12that makes getting tickets to see your favorite teams play live even easier. It filters out the fluff to show
17:16you all the incredible deals on great seats so you don't have to waste time searching through
17:20thousands and thousands of tickets. I'm going to need to get myself to
17:24some basketball games this winter and I guarantee you that I'll be using
17:28Game Time as I did for when they played the Golden State Warriors that I keep mentioning
17:32a few weeks ago. All you got to do is download the Game Time app, create an account, and use the code
17:36CLNS for $20 off your first purchase. Again, terms apply.
17:40Create that account. Redeem the code CLNS for $20 off. Download
17:44Game Time today. What time is it? Oh, it's Game Time.
17:48Let's go to another team that has got to be wondering what the hell
17:52is going on, especially based, for them, on preseason
17:56expectations or even the way they started the season. And that's the Houston Texans
18:00who were shocked by the Tennessee Titans 32-27.
18:04Texans are now 7-5. They're at the
18:08Jets next weekend. No, excuse me, Jacksonville. At Jacksonville next weekend.
18:12And I guess I would ask you, and you've been
18:16on this pretty much since Week 1,
18:20what's happened with C.J. Stroud and the offense? 74.7 passer rating
18:24for Stroud since Week 7 is the lowest amongst
18:28qualifying quarterbacks from that point on. They just
18:32don't look right. They don't look like the same team. There's something there every week
18:36where you go, there's too much there
18:40for it to be like this. And yet, once again, week after week, you keep
18:44feeling the same way coming out of the games. Even when they win, you're like, eh, still haven't
18:48seen the best of the Texans yet. That certainly wasn't the best of the Texans against the Titans.
18:52A couple of things. One, I'll give the Titans some credit. They're still playing hard.
18:56Brian Callahan has this group looking far better than I
19:00thought he could be a one-and-done guy four or five weeks ago. Oh, yeah. Four or five weeks ago
19:04he was circling the drain. I'm not super high on
19:08Rams still, but Callahan showed some stuff. Will Levis look
19:12like an NFL quarterback again? He kind of said it like,
19:16I'm not saying that he's going to be the guy,
19:20but there's probably a conversation in that building of
19:24hey, we're probably going to finish with a top-seven pick.
19:28Are we better off one more year of Levis and a bad QB class and just trying to
19:32build this roster up as much as we can and hope year two with Callahan they can
19:36make strides and Latham in year two.
19:40By the way, the answer to that is if he shows progress here over these last
19:44five weeks and sort of plays as he has the last couple, then I think the answer
19:48is yes, because we'll get into, obviously, the draft class as we get into the
19:52offseason, but I don't love any of the quarterbacks. Some will
19:56get overdrafted. It's what happens every single year, but I don't know if you're
20:00them and you say, do I really want to go from this guy
20:04who we've seen? He's got some flaws, but maybe there's some things to build off of
20:08versus the unknown and, again, to your point, not a great quarterback
20:12class. Yeah, Levis is 17 starts, really
20:1616 to Miami. It should count. I mean, 3,300 yards, 18 touchdowns, 13 picks.
20:20I'm not sitting there telling you he's going to be special, but the last three games,
20:24700 or so yards, five touchdowns, two picks,
20:28and obviously an impressive win yesterday. I just wanted to give them a little bit of credit.
20:32They were lucky to win, but they still won, and you feel like
20:36just slightly less bad about the Titans. They probably finished with four or five
20:40wins, but it is what it is.
20:44To the Texans of it all, one, this defense
20:48kind of like, I don't know, 30 points against Tennessee.
20:52Not a great D'Amico look.
20:56They have a lot of... There's just too many
21:00self-inflicted wounds for this team. I'm not saying it's all on Stroud, because
21:04we've been very vocal about Bobby Slowick.
21:08To me, what's frustrating is I feel like Stroud
21:12is just getting... He just doesn't have the feel
21:16in the pocket. I felt the confidence in the pocket. I feel like he had last year. I feel like it's like
21:20he's doing a lot more running for his life. His offensive line, obviously, is just not
21:24playing well, in my opinion, just from the eye test.
21:28Even yesterday, a perfect example of where they're at.
21:32They get a big play to Deco Collins. Feels like every time it's a big play, it's a penalty.
21:36Come back, next play, and Stroud's getting chased. He's
21:40throwing it away, and the tight end catches it for a six-yard loss, because
21:44he's trying to catch the football. Stroud didn't really throw it away.
21:48I kind of feel like he knew it was a bad... It's hard to tell what's
21:52going on, and it comes back. It's like, oh, throwing that away. Don't catch the ball.
21:56I don't know why he... It just feels sloppy, and
22:00it's penalty after penalty. When it's not Joe Mixon or Deco Collins, it
22:04feels like good stuff's not really going to happen.
22:08Way too many offensive line penalties. Way too many illegal man downfields. It's over and over
22:12again with them. Every time there's a good play, it's like,
22:16do you guys not practice? Do you not realize that you keep getting called on it, so maybe wait
22:20a quarter of a second longer. That should be getting drilled every week. Is that a
22:24Bobby Slovic thing? Is that a D'Amico thing? Who is it?
22:28I think me and you both thought this is a 10-win team in a
22:32bad division. They'll be better than last year
22:36roster-wise, but probably worse record-wise.
22:40Team playing primetime games. Team playing with expectations. CJ
22:44Stroud was talked about like he was Patrick Mahomes a year ago, and I still think he's
22:48a top-eight quarterback in the league, and I still think he's really good.
22:52Not for nothing, he's a lot closer to eight than he is to that top five.
22:56I think he's very much in that second tier, which is amazing. They hit on the quarterback
23:00and they probably hit on that coach, but they're just not that good right now.
23:04It's injuries, dumb penalties, mistakes.
23:08Stroud does not protect the football the way he did a year ago, in my
23:12opinion. I don't know.
23:16I don't know what the fix is, per se, because I guess the fix is
23:20the Saints hired Bobby Slowick, and
23:24they kind of help you. They kind of addition by subtraction.
23:28But I don't...
23:32They scream 9 or 10 wins, and they're getting smoked
23:36in the first round of the playoffs.
23:40I'm glad you brought up the defense. Will Levis throws for 278 on him.
23:44Tony Pollard rushes for 119. Pollard's a nice little player.
23:48Will Levis is still a guy with some
23:52ability who hasn't been able to string it together. For you to
23:56do that against them, and you have some knowledge of the Callahan
24:00system, so it's not like you're totally caught unawares by what
24:04they want to do. In some ways, what Levis does
24:08is either flings it down the field or it's off the boot.
24:12He's not someone who just sits in the pocket, processes, and gets it out quick.
24:16That's not who he is. They knew this, and they
24:20still couldn't stop it. So there's
24:24a fair amount of money invested on that defense. There's a lot of good players on that defense.
24:28I know they've had some injuries as well, but it's part of the league.
24:32They felt like they had a deeper team this year than last year, and you're
24:36not seeing it. And look, still, Fairburn misses a chip shot
24:40field goal. Who knows if he makes it? He falls down to the ground. It was like literally
24:44I could have probably put it through. No, actually, that's not true. I couldn't kick for
24:48Jack, but that's kind of the way the year's going for him right now.
24:52And it feels like, your point, they're headed for a heartbreak
24:56in the postseason, like a bad beatdown. And then it's going to be like,
25:00okay, now what? Now you were supposed to be the young darling, and now
25:04your roster's got some holes, and you've got to figure it out. Your quarterback will be coming off
25:08an eh year. You have to answer questions about
25:12who's going to play opposite Nico, because I can't imagine that Diggs will be back,
25:16especially coming off the ACL. So they've got questions, and
25:20if they don't get it together in a hurry, who knows? Maybe they slip-slide away out of the
25:24postseason. Speaking of slip-sliding away out of the postseason, let me
25:28introduce you to the San Francisco 49ers, who we kept waiting for to
25:32take that turn, to take the step forward, put aside some of
25:36the bad luck they've had or bad performances. They got
25:40absolutely croaked in Green Bay, 38-10. They fall to
25:445-6 on the year. They've got Buffalo at Buffalo on Sunday
25:48night football on Thanksgiving weekend, so good luck with that.
25:52No Brock party yesterday, which obviously plays a massive role. All of a sudden
25:56the shoulders started bothering them, had to shut it down in practice on Thursday, ruled out on
26:00Friday. They go with Brandon Allen, who leads the offense, and I say lead in
26:04quotes, to 10 points and 241 total yards, both their
26:08lowest numbers of the season. He throws an interception, also
26:12fumbles as well. But to me, Allen,
26:16Purdy, the thing that we've talked about
26:20all the way back to the preseason preview is they finally caught up
26:24with them. All the football, some of the losses, big losses,
26:28some of the age of the roster and the contract situations, it feels like it's all
26:32started to come together this year like a perfect storm.
26:36I guess technically they're still not out of it. They're only a game out of the division
26:40lead, although their division record is
26:44they lose every tiebreaker, and they're a game and a half out of the
26:48seventh and final playoff spot. So again, not completely
26:52impossible to get it done, but it feels like
26:56they're the 11th place team right now in the NFC that that's a lot of teams
27:00to bypass over the next six weeks of the season. Yeah, they're done.
27:04No, I just, they look, I just, no one looks good right now.
27:08McCaffrey looks like a guy who they probably should just put on ice for the year and
27:12said let's not test it. Fred Warner doesn't look the same
27:16right now that he usually does. Nobosa, Trent Williams, Purdy,
27:20Debo is a total
27:24Yeah, he's a shell of himself.
27:28By the way, I'm just getting ready for when they caught him. Debo to the Patriots is
27:32going to be. Yes, I'm going to hear ad nauseum on my timeline on all
27:36social media accounts will be filled with that. The radio, it's going to be nuts
27:40and I just ask you if he's a complimentary
27:44player like the third guy in that room, great.
27:48He would be your best guy, and if he's your best guy, you got problems.
27:52Yeah, there's a reason they try to trade him
27:56this offseason. There's a reason they took so long to pay him before because
28:00the body eventually was going to go.
28:04To me, they're done. Niners fans seem to want Kyle
28:08gone, which would be insane, but look, he has
28:12such an Andy Reid career arc that's about to happen.
28:16I am telling you, there's a world in which theoretically, I guess
28:20he could get fired. I don't see it because he's very much the de facto GM as well.
28:24He's been so successful. He would have to kind of be like, hey, I'm done here
28:28too, which theoretically is probably the one way this happens is he's like
28:32they finish seven and ten and he's
28:36like this team is about to be screwed. We went all in for the last six
28:40years. We didn't get it done. It's been a shame, but
28:44injuries, age, cap, draft picks, etc.
28:48We're going to pay Brock pretty gazillion dollars.
28:52Let's maybe part ways and he'll go somewhere else and he'll have the Andy Reid
28:56like, oh, he never can win the big game and whatever. Then he'll think eventually
29:00like how we look at Andy Reid now. We're like, oh, he'll always win a big game. Meanwhile,
29:04remember what Andy Reid used to be. Oh, really successful, gets really far in the playoffs, never can
29:08close the door on a title in Philly.
29:12Let me interrupt you for a second and give you a hypothetical
29:16that would hit close to home.
29:20How many draft picks would you give up as a
29:24owner of the Jets, Woody Johnson, to acquire the services of
29:28Kyle Shanahan?
29:32I'd probably do this year's one
29:36and then multiple picks in years following.
29:40Maybe it's like in total one and two twos
29:44and something. I don't know. Because to me
29:48if the Jets are going to go draft a quarterback
29:52and that needs development.
29:56I know Trey Lance hasn't worked, but no offense, Trey Lance hasn't worked anywhere. He's just a bad football
30:00player. This guy has made Super Bowls
30:04with Purdy and Jimmy G, etc.
30:08I don't know what it would take to do it and I don't even know if it's realistic,
30:12but it just feels like this is over for the Niners.
30:16The real question is going to be not just a Kyle question with the Niners is
30:20what do they do in the offseason? Because does Trent Williams
30:24want to play anymore? That's been a question. He just signed the extension, but
30:28Trent Williams is up there. Maybe he doesn't want to go through a rebuild.
30:32Do they try to semi-rebuild the thing and do
30:36a whole, we're going to try to
30:40spare parts this thing through it and Brock got hurt and
30:44Christian was hurt and the whole thing and we're going to run it back. Almost never works.
30:48Do they go and say, hey, we're going to cut Deebo. We're going to
30:52trade Christian and we're going to trade Fred and we're going to build this
30:56offense around Purdy and Iuke and we're going to rebuild through a ton of draft picks and Kyle
31:00wants to be here for that. There's just so many questions with the Niners. I don't know the answer,
31:04but this year, even if they make the playoffs, I think they're
31:08pretty much fried. If you're the
31:12Packers, yesterday I talked about this on the show on Friday. I wanted
31:16to see a mentality from the Packers of this team has beat us up
31:20year after year. It's always the same thing with the Niners and Packers. It's like the physical
31:24nature of the game. Eventually, Green Bay gets worn down. Josh Jacobs
31:28ate his Wheaties yesterday and Miami better come ready
31:32to tackle on Thursday night because brother
31:36Josh Jacobs in 20 degree weather is going to run right through your face mask
31:40and I know Tua has been talking a lot about how he's going to change the narratives.
31:44Jordan Love was not good yesterday and Christian Watson
31:48had a little MVS to him yesterday.
31:52They didn't catch anything and it's not all on Jordan Love. He was smart with the football
31:56yesterday as opposed to in games prior like the Lions game.
32:00It felt like he was just not himself. I think
32:04Jordan Love will figure it out, but they have a real running game
32:08and they have a real defense and they've banked some wins now.
32:12San Francisco
32:16had to win this game and Kyle coached like it. If we're being honest, he was
32:20going for it on every fourth down. Stuff was there.
32:24It is just funny. The one play to me that was the nail in the
32:28coffin really for them was I believe it was 21-7
32:32or 17-7 out of the second half and they were on like the
32:3640 or so. They go on fourth and two. The momentum had kind of shifted
32:40and they put Christian in the slot on fourth down.
32:44You just know he's running a choice route. Allen took forever to get the
32:48ball out because it's a backup quarterback. Had to see it open instead of throw it open.
32:52Christian was open. He throws it late. They make a play and the game was over.
32:56I know it's a long answer, but it's a shame.
33:00It's going to probably end like this. This is always what happens, but this kind of almost...
33:04It didn't get to this point with the Patriots at the end and they're not the same thing obviously.
33:08This felt a lot like 2019 where it was like spare parts it
33:12and you got in the playoffs, but the second you saw a legit competition
33:16you got cooked. The Niners
33:20schedule, age, injury, cap space, unlucky, all these things.
33:24It just feels over for them unfortunately.
33:28It does feel over for them. Meanwhile, Green Bay is still in third place in the division
33:32because that division is so ridiculous, but 8-3.
33:36Jordan's got to play better. Again, I thought maybe this is the week it started to happen.
33:40Hasn't happened yet. At least he did take care
33:44of the ball, but they need more out of him in the passing and the receivers do. Christian Watson's
33:48good for one of those drops every three weeks.
33:52Should be a touchdown. Clangs off his hands like he's never seen a football.
33:56He's wearing oven mitts out there. Packers will be a dangerous
34:00team because they are built more for January
34:04than they have been in years past, I think, if they can get the quarterback play to go
34:08along with it. Prizepix has got a deal for you this week.
34:12Tyreek Hill, basically a gift, a gimme. More than
34:16a half a yard. You only need to get two of these right to win money and they're

35:00answer this week. Giving you an answer. All you need is one more

35:08I was just thinking. Drake May. I picked Drake May
35:12more than 221.5 yards
35:16was the number. 222 yards
35:20passing. Mikey made it happen.
35:24So anyway, Prizepix. Download it.
35:28They run your game. Let them run your game. Have some fun.
35:32I want to close with this. And it's actually funny because we were just talking about Green Bay.
35:36Xavier McKinney's seventh interception. Xavier McKinney played where? He played for the Giants
35:40previously. Guess who?
35:44Saquon Barkley used to play for. Yeah, he used to
35:48play for the Giants and he was lost in free agency as well. Saquon
35:52goes bananas again. Last night in L.A. they beat the Rams
35:5637-20. He has touchdown runs of 70 and 72
36:00yards. Finishes with 255 yards rushing in the game.
36:04Over 300 yards of total offense.
36:08Phillies now won seven in a row. And I ask you, because the MVP
36:12is a quarterback award. It has been a quarterback award for basically
36:16I don't even know how long. Pretty much forever. But with Josh Allen,
36:20Lamar Jackson. Should Saquon not only be in that conversation, but
36:24should he be at the front of the line? Should be close. You really
36:28run through it. Mahomes, it's not a discussion.
36:32He's a great player. He's just not having a great year.
36:36Obviously, from a Lamar perspective, it feels like the Ravens
36:40aren't going to be. They're probably the five or the six seed if things
36:44continue the way they're headed. Although Pittsburgh obviously choked away a game on Thursday
36:48night. So unless Lamar lights up the next five weeks. He does get to be
36:52fatigued. Sometimes we see that. Burrow would be
36:56leading the conversation quite comfortably if the Bengals
37:00and maybe he still gets a Russell Westbrook ish win
37:04if they find a way in the playoffs. And it's like his stats are so ridiculous. If Burrow just
37:08six weeks in a row and he wills them into the playoffs with five out of six
37:12and he puts up 40 touchdowns, six picks and 4,500
37:16yards, like maybe he does it. Josh, maybe if they get the one seed, he puts
37:20up absurd numbers. But it feels
37:24like there's been this course correction with the style of play
37:28across the NFL all year. And
37:32I think AP is the last guy to win it in 09, if I'm not mistaken.
37:36Adrian Peterson was making more money a year than Saquon
37:40is this year. And for everyone, the market corrected itself so much essentially that Saquon
37:44became a good value signing. In all seriousness and
37:48broader conversation, Phillied said, hey, we have a quarterback that's
37:52pretty good at throwing goal balls to AJ Brown and tunnel screens and doing
37:56tush bushes. We could really use a running game from a couple years ago in that defense. And they
38:00invested in pass rush. They're secondary and they're running back. And
38:04Saquon, I think 213 yards last night before contact
38:08or whatever it was. So the offensive line has been fantastic
38:12for sure. Saquon just brings this dimension that scares
38:16you. And he's playing the way he played at Penn State. He's playing the way here. He has surpassed his
38:20career high in yards and touchdowns
38:24on pace for 2,200 yards and 20-plus touchdowns. And if he gets
38:28to even close to 2,000 and the Eagles
38:32get, they're probably not going to catch Detroit, but they could.
38:36Even Detroit has other games. And as much as they're rolling, Philly's rolling
38:40too. If Saquon has a big night against Baltimore
38:44and Lamar doesn't have a big night, don't you feel like that's like, okay, Lamar's out?
38:48And then it comes down to Josh. It's like, is Josh going to win it because people feel like
38:52they have to give him an MVP at some point? I feel like people are itching
38:56to, I just, it comes down to this. It was like the whole Russell, remember
39:00Mike, I don't know if, I think it was 2019. It must
39:04have been 2019. Everyone in the entire preseason, Russell Wilson's never
39:08got an MVP vote. I feel like this year going into the year, there was so much like, quarterbacks
39:12win every year. This is such a stupid award. Everyone's
39:16been dying for him or Derek. Him and Derek Henry have both put up ridiculous numbers.
39:20Henry won't win it because of Lamar
39:24and also because I don't think he's
39:28changed. I think he's just, whatever. He's compiled more stats to me than has been.
39:32Saquon has been like, oh my God. He's bailed them out of games. He's won them
39:36games it feels like. So yeah, I'm sorry. I think he's
39:40one of the three or four most valuable players. If you took Saquon off the Eagles right now, I do think
39:44it would drastically hurt them. I don't know
39:48if I feel that way about any other really non-position
39:52player on offense right now that this team, the Eagles might win the Super Bowl.
39:56That's why we're talking about what we're talking about.
39:58Yeah, he's been phenomenal. You're saying
40:02what they would look like without him. Just in my head, three or four games just jump
40:06out immediately. Well, if he wasn't on the team, they'd probably lose that game.
40:10So instead of 9-2, you're talking 5-6 or 6-5.
40:14That's a massive swing that a player has made. He's so explosive.
40:18There have been games where the pass game has struggled mightily, especially early
40:22in the year. The story's been now told quite a bit over the last
40:26month or so, how the offensive lineman went to Kellen Moore and Nick Sirianni
40:30were like, what are we doing? We have the best offensive line in football.
40:34Let us put the hard hats on and let us pound the ball
40:38until someone stops us. And pretty much since they've embraced that identity,
40:42they haven't lost a football game and Saquon's been to the moon.
40:46I personally think, and I was very much a
40:50Lamar and we sort of ride the ebbs and flows of the season, but
40:54I've talked about my sort of problems with Baltimore here over the last
40:58couple weeks. It doesn't feel like they're going to be in a high enough position
41:02for Lamar to warrant being the MVP. So then, unless someone
41:06makes a late charge, it really does come down to Saquon versus Josh.
41:10The easy thing for voters to do, or has been in years past, is well, MVP
41:14is the quarterback because he touches the ball in every offensive play, and we'll give the
41:18offensive player of the year to the running back. But maybe this is a case where
41:22hey, you know what? Hurts hasn't been awesome, but Saquon has.
41:26Saquon's changed who they are this year, and as you point out,
41:30put them in the conversation when we talk about the best teams in football.
41:34They are very much there when, you know, I think in September we had questions
41:38about what they were going to be and how they were going to be. Knew they were a good team, didn't know if they were going to
41:42be a great team. Quickly on the front of Philadelphia, Brandon Graham
41:46was having a beautiful night last night, tears to tricep. He is done for
41:50the year. They have built a fair amount of depth on that defensive line, and he's
41:54an older player, but he showed you last night he's still got
41:58the goods and can still bring it, so that's going to be a bad loss for them.
42:02That's going to put a wrap on the All-32 Pod for Monday. We'll figure out
42:06the back end of the week because we have the Thanksgiving holiday, try to figure out when we're
